The best MMORPGs of all time. The best MMORPGs for all platforms. The most successful massive online games

Worth spending your time on them. This is, of course, a harsh reality, because there is such a country as the Republic of Korea, in which the production of games in this genre is on a steady stream. But there are projects that stand out from the crowd for their quality, and even manage to not only stick in our memory, but also sometimes evoke nostalgia. It is these 10 good free multiplayer games that we would like to remember today.

Lineage 2

And we'll start with one of the best games our planet has ever seen. And, in general, there is not even irony in this phrase, well, almost. Published back in 2003, it only saw the light of day in 2008, when it was published by the well-known Innova. It was “Ruler” that largely determined what the genre would look like and where it would move as a whole. It was after it that other projects were assessed from the position of “ruler” and not “ruler”. Moreover, it satisfied the demand of those gamers whom the toad was strangling to buy a subscription to World of Warcraft.

When starting the game, we choose a race, and depending on your choice, various classes are available, of which there are already 37 in the game. However, upon reaching level 85, each of them is reborn into one of eight balanced archetypes, which, in general, is correct, since it is easier to maintain balance with 8 classes, and not with 37.

Unfortunately, for many over the years, Lineage 2 has become irrelevant. Reaching high levels has become much easier. But, in my opinion, this is correct, since the most interesting content is always at the maximum level, which led to the rapid emergence of various PvP servers with x100 or even x1000 rates. Not everyone liked these changes, and it is not surprising that Lineage 2 Classic appeared, which brings back all the early hardcore and grind, of course.

But the most important thing in the project is, of course, the sieges, in which crowds of players fight for the right to be the best. In general, this is an interesting topic for discussion. What's better? High-level content on PvP servers, when everyone is running around in TOP clothes and glowing from buffs, like garlands, and everything is decided only by the ability to masterly master skills faster than an opponent? Or when leveling up is slow, players can differ dramatically from each other and every few levels the experience from the game is supplemented along with new skills, clothing and capabilities? Let me know what you think about this in the comments.

Perfect World

Perfect World began my journey as an MMO gamer. It came out back in 2005, although it only reached Russia in 2008. How did it compare favorably with its competitors at that time? The answer is obvious - graphics and just a huge open world through which you could fly in all kinds of vehicles. Of course, at that time there was World of Warcraft. But where can a poor schoolchild get money for a subscription? And the ideal world is right here, free, without registration and SMS, although it was still necessary to register there.

At that time, one of the interesting features of Perfect World was the character editor. Now we’re getting greedy, and this won’t surprise anyone, but in those distant times it was one of the first games with such extensive customization.

You're probably wondering what's going on with the plot? Honestly, who the hell knows. I didn’t care about him then, and I don’t care about him now. When you do idiotic jasper quests every day, the point of which is to buy that damn jasper from the nearest merchant and bring it to the NPC who gave you the quest, and then fly all over the map doing idiotic daily quests, at some point, and in the case of PW this moment comes immediately and abruptly, the plot becomes as indifferent as possible, especially since it takes away precious time, which would be much more profitable to invest in quality.

Otherwise, we have before us the now typical target system and very colorful skills. You can also note the pleasant soundtrack, which, like the entire game, refers gamers to Chinese mythology.

Revelation Online

Next is a relatively new project that Mail.Ru localized for us. Translations of such games to a great and mighty event are quite rare and, as a rule, belated. Therefore, Revelation, in a sense, broke the foundations and visually has not yet had time to grow old. Well, like for an MMO, of course.

So, what's interesting here? Well, for example, a character editor. New MMOs in this vein are trying their best to surprise, and Revelation did not stand aside. But the class system did not bring anything revolutionary. Everything is quite standard - mage, tank, healer and damage dealer. But the world is completely seamless, and you can literally fly around it. By the way, the flight time from edge to edge of the map will be 20 minutes.

Another main feature is the combat system. It is hybrid here, which means that here you can choose what is more convenient for you, use a non-target or target system. It turned out something like that. In an attempt to sit on two chairs, the developers implemented both options rather mediocrely. The target system is still the same target, but the non-target is more like an auto-aim. But even despite this, Revelation is fun to play.

Although the world is seamless, there are still full-fledged instances that you can go through with a team, and no one will bother you. However, the game has restrictions on the number of trips to them, and not only the victory over the boss is counted, but also the attempt to kill him, which adds a lot of hardcore. But in general, this is not a bad representative of free MMORPGs, on which it’s not a shame to spend a few evenings until you get tired of flying.

Aion

Another game that Innova localized for us. And unlike Lineage 2, Aion was initially distributed by subscription. But its best days are long behind us, so now you can play completely free, albeit with some restrictions. Let's start with the graphics, which are based on the same Lineage 2, but with bells and whistles. There are more polygons, and the picture is more realistic. And most importantly, the players learned not only to jump, but also to fly. The world in Aion is not open, but the locations are quite extensive and well designed. Unfortunately, you can’t fly everywhere, which is very frustrating.

The plot of the game begins with the fact that the ancient god Aion created Atreya - a wonderful world that split into two halves. As a result, the awakening of the Balaurs, an aggressive and power-hungry race, and on the two halves of the world two races were formed - the Elyos and the Asmodians. These are the ones we have to play for. The first can be described as supporters of good, since they remained on the bright side of Atreia. They have retained their beauty and attractiveness, and their wings have not lost their whiteness. The Asmodians ended up on the icy lands of Asmodea. They underwent some metamorphosis, acquired claws, and their wings turned black. It is in the mass conflict of the above-mentioned guys that we are offered to take part, and a plot is built around it, which you will quite possibly skip too.

There are as many as 11 classes in the game, so everyone can find something for themselves. They are all pretty standard - wizards, marksmen, gladiators, the only thing that stands out among them is the pilot, who is a huge mecha. The combat system in Aion is targeted, but this does not prevent it from being a very good MMORPG.

RF Online

As you can see, Innova has localized quite a few interesting projects, and RF Online is also one of them. And unlike all other TOP games, there is no room for boring fantasy. Harsh future and war for resources. There are three races in the game - the Akretian Empire, the Bellato Federation and the Holy Alliance of Kora. The point is that they are all at war with each other. There is no global universal evil awakening from the abyss of the universe, only an internecine war for minerals. It would seem banal, but after all the pathos and stereotypes that every second MMO feeds us, such down-to-earthness seems like a breath of fresh air. Finally, we are not the chosen fighters against the universal evil of galactic proportions, and we do not need to tear the skies with our drill. Although the magic is still there.

By the way, the combat system of RF Online is old-school targeted, and is very different from everything that the MMO game market can offer us today. Nevertheless, the skill system is quite interesting, we will have to buy them, and the level of the spells themselves increases depending on how often you use them.

Of course, the dawn of RF Online is long past. Two and a half cripples play on the official servers. However, you can always go to unofficial servers and just have fun if you have played it before.

Black Desert

Again, a fairly recent game, published by the extremely little-known company GameNet. It came out pretty lousy, I dare say. However, in this article we will not discuss the problems of localizers. And if you try to describe Black Desert in one word, it would be grind. You have to grind everywhere, no matter what you do. If you want to become a culinary master or a professional gamer, please waste a lot of real time.

But character leveling is a different story. In regular MMOs there is a maximum level, the so-called cap. Everyone strives for it, and having received it, they begin late-game activities - dressing up a character or pumping up crafting skills, improving their reputation, and so on and so forth. In Black Desert you will never reach the cap, there is simply none. The apotheosis of the grind, what can I say.

You will receive most of the experience from killing monsters. But it’s worth noting that it’s damn nice to do this. Excellent non-target combat will not let you get bored. But the number of mobs is extremely small, so clashes over spots (mob respawn points) are not uncommon in Black Desert.

The trading system is a little complicated, and is aimed primarily not at entertaining the player, but again at grinding. You will have to hire workers, produce goods and sell them. Moreover, if you want to sell it at a higher price, you will have to transport the goods far away. In general, you can literally get stuck here if you are a fan of literally living in games. In addition, the graphics and animation are also in perfect order.

TERA Online

One of those games that decided to move away from the usual foundations in the world of MMORPG, making one of the first real non-target combats, quite good, by the way. So much so that I’m not even afraid to call TERA a game with one of the best non-target combats on the market in principle. And the good thing about it is that it is the most honest, you shoot, hit, fire a fireball, and whether it hits the enemy depends only on your straightforwardness. There is no tricky auto-targeting or monstrous hitboxes. It was for non-target that she got into this TOP, strictly speaking. Due to the non-target combat, the gameplay for boring classes in MMOs looks new, you have to dodge, move and hit the target at the same time.

The game world in TERA, although large, is, unfortunately, not seamless, and you cannot fly around it. Nevertheless, the set of classes is not bad and, suddenly, due to the same combat system, it is extremely diverse. Knights, waving spears, aggro monsters and cover themselves and their allies with shields, archers and shooters conduct long-range combat behind the knights, and next to them stand magicians and healers who support their team by applying useful buffs. It seems like everything is the same as in any other MMO, but the combat feels completely different.

It is worth noting that the graphics in the game are really beautiful. After all, everything runs on the Unreal Engine 3, which is still quite popular for MMOs. True, the problem is with the balance. Every time a new class is introduced, it becomes a damn imbue for a while (usually until the next major update). This is terribly unpleasant, but it keeps the loins of the community in good shape.

Blade and Soul

Another game with a non-target system, but in my humble opinion, Blade and Soul is somewhat inferior to the same TERA. Here the emphasis is more on combinations of attacks, and there are not so many skills themselves, while in TERA there are many more skills, and it looks much more like a typical MMORPG. Although this is probably a matter of taste, and for some it will be much more interesting to build a combo.

Blade and Soul boasts nice graphics and an interesting character editor. Although in all modern MMOs these two items are usually present by default. The main feature of Blade and Soul is, of course, the combat system. It is non-target, it implements interesting combo systems, so it is not your gear that decides, but your skill.

The assortment also includes a plot, but there is absolutely no need to delve into it, since it is completely imbued with Korean flavor and signature Asian madness.

Pumping deserves special mention. Since clothes do not give any bonuses and regularly perform a cosmetic function, they offer you to increase your stats with a thing called trigrams. Strictly speaking, it's like a saucer on which you place various pieces that increase your stats, and it's hard to explain. Just know that instead of an armored bra for +10 to agility, there is some abstract crap for the same +10 to agility. In essence, nothing has changed, only externally it is presented differently.

Also speaking about external features. Here you can't fly or hover, but you can jump quite high. This is something like a local version of fast travel, and it is done very, very effectively.

Unfortunately, the game was not translated into Russian for a very long time, and visually it became a little outdated. But relatively recently it was localized, and now everyone can deeply immerse themselves in this, I must say, very pleasant Korean experience.

Icarus Online

You might be surprised what this game does in this TOP. And this is not surprising, because Icarus Online is a good game with a bad Russian-language publisher, that’s what happens sometimes. They are greeted, as usual, with their clothes and graphics, and although Icarus is not as good as Black Desert, it still boasts the CryEngine 3 engine, which, by the way, does not even lag, which is quite surprising.

Races were not brought into the game either, only people, only hardcore. The classes in the game are standard, like in any self-respecting MMORPG. Medics, tanks, damage dealers, in general, nothing new. The character editor is good, however, this will surprise few people now. And everything would be completely sad and depressing, and we would send the project to the stable with the rest of the pale MMOs, if not... animals. To be honest, pets are the main feature of the whole game.

If in any other MMO we had to stomp on our own for a long time, then in Icarus Online we quickly transfer to a mount. At first just a rideable one, and quite soon a flying one. Moreover, to start using them, they need to be tamed, and this is implemented in the form of a mini-game.

The combat system here is hybrid, and is very reminiscent of the one in Revelation. Although fighting is pleasant, it is, let’s say, very long, since leveling up in the game itself takes a fair amount of time. And this is connected primarily with a simply huge open world, which is completely seamless. Therefore, it sometimes takes a very long time to get to tasks, even using pets. In addition to simply moving, flying animals can be used for battles. Although we are essentially fighting ourselves, just sitting on the back of our horse. But even that is quite fun.

Icarus Online will leave behind a pleasant aftertaste. It’s not a fact that it will captivate you for a very long time, but definitely for some time.

Neverwinter Online

When you saw the title, you probably thought that this was an online continuation of the masterpiece Neverwinter Nights from Bioware and Obsidian, but no. The universe, of course, is the same, and when you enter the game you will see painfully familiar races - tieflings, halflings and many others, but Neverwinter Online, of course, does not live up to its older brothers. The RPG components have been greatly reduced, but this is a damn cool MMO.

What we have in front of us is a non-target combat, a good one, but it was not done well. It is not necessary to directly aim at the enemy; it is enough that the sight is at least near the enemy. And even despite this, fighting is a lot of fun. You have to dodge and use skills, which, by the way, do not require mana. So everything can be put into action immediately after the cooldown.

The world is not seamless and is divided into many territories and instances. A controversial decision, after all, people prefer an open world and boss raids, for whom they have to do PvP. But Neverwinter doesn't have all this. On the other hand, the instance system in the game is implemented quite well. While completing a story quest, you can be transferred from location to location to cooperate with other gamers. There is also a workshop available in the game, where players can create their own tasks, and the most interesting ones are awarded with a reward. Quite an interesting feature, although it didn’t really appeal to me.

Neverwinter Online came out in 2013 and is still doing well. Isn't this an indicator of quality?

TOP 10 best free MMORPG videos open close

Why do some games fall into oblivion, while others are visible from afar after decades? Most likely, everyone will have their own answer to this. Some will argue about the quality of the product, others will say about the lack of advertising or its execution, and others will simply grumble once again that games have long since gone downhill. But, despite the widespread failure of many new ones, there are many games on the market that remain in demand to this day.

1. World of Warcraft

Unsurpassed in popularity, the great and terrible World of Warcraft is still at the top of any top MMORPG gaming genre. Neither outdated graphics, nor a full-fledged subscription system, nor constant adjustments to the game balance interfere with this.

2: The Elder Scrolls Online

It was only a matter of time before “Scrolls” appeared as an online game. And relatively recently, the long-awaited phenomenon did happen. This allowed fans of the famous universe to trample together their favorite paths of Skyrim and Morrowind, snacking on a sweet roll. The Elder Scrolls Online may not have become the most popular MMORPG in the world, but we can say with confidence that among the classic representatives of the genre, this game currently ranks second.

In short, the game itself is a hybrid of Skyrim and World of Warcraft. There is both a full-fledged epic story on the level of the main series, and many activities for cooperative play. "Dungeons", world bosses, for the capital of the empire and much more.

But the game is valuable not only for all this and the quality of its execution. What is especially valuable is that many locations from the Elder Scrolls universe first appear here (Not counting Daggerfall). And they do this, sparkling with all the beauties of modern graphics. The Elder Scrolls Online has not officially been released, but thanks to an amateur translation, many can plunge into this world in their native language.

3. Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2 is one of the most successful attempts to encroach on the throne of World of Warcraft. And although the throne remained in its place, this “Western” type MMORPG gained considerable popularity. The developers from ArenaNet managed to dilute the usual with fresh ideas, which allows the game to be successful for a long time.

For example, most of the quests in the game don’t even need to be started from the usual NPCs. Instead, while exploring, players simply help each other, seamlessly connecting to tasks already started. is also an interesting hybrid of Target and , and skills depend not only on the class, but also on the weapon. Overall, Guild Wars 2 is a very solid project, which can only be marred by the lack of localization. And both in fact and in plans.

4. Blade & Soul

5. Black Desert

Black Desert became the boiling point of anticipation for rebirth. Afterwards, it was this game that carried the title of the last hope of the genre. In our area, people upgraded their computers and bought up early access kits just to see with their own eyes everything the developers promised. Of course, the game didn't turn out as perfect as expected.

Throughout the world, Black Desert occupies a deplorable position, but in the CIS it is the flagship of the newest MMORPGs. The game maintains such popularity thanks to its breathtaking picture for the genre, the long-awaited free PvP and open world. The icing on the cake is one of the best Non-Target combat systems, which even single players can envy. All this makes Black Desert one of the ideal options for those who are not familiar with this genre, but would like to get to know it. The main thing is to be sure that the PC is capable of this.

6. Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn

Talking about the popularity of Final Fantasy is like talking about what a Nokia or Mercedes is. And even though the majority of players from the CIS are scratching their heads, not understanding why the whole world is so crazy about every “Final”, this does not bother the world itself at all. Therefore, Final Fantasy 14: A Realm, which is an MMORPG, deservedly basks in the glory. But it was not immediately possible for her to achieve success.

The originally released Final Fantasy 14 turned out to be of a quality that was far from matching the famous series. As a result, the authors of the game relaunched it, adding the subtitle A Realm Reborn to the name. And the existence of the old world was stopped in a rather epic way, by dropping a meteorite on it. Now the game delights players with a unique colorful world, a class system that does not force the creation of characters, and the atmosphere of an Asian fairy tale.

7. Aion

8.Neverwinter

Whatever the quality, it was simply destined to become popular. And the point here is not only the huge financial injections from the Chinese from Perfect World, but also the fact that this MMORPG is dedicated to the D&D universe. Fortunately, fans of the setting did not have to force themselves to play through tears, because the game turned out to be quite high-quality. This is confirmed by the interest of gamers, which continues to this day.

In addition to the famous world, Neverwinter offers a high-quality and dynamic Non-Target combat system. The level of its performance also did not disappoint, and therefore it is surprisingly pleasant to hit with swords and shoot fireballs here. The core of the gameplay is built not on exploring the open world, but on completing session quests. They are often accompanied by interesting plot implications, which are a pleasure to watch with friends.

9. RuneScape

The name RuneScape means little to most domestic players. However, this hybrid MMORPG, which works both in the browser and as a client, is quite popular in the world. This fact is confirmed by the fact that this creation of the Jagex studio was lucky enough to visit the Guinness Book of Records twice. Agree, not every game can boast of this.

It is very difficult to describe any differences between RuneScape and modern games. And all because at the time of the release of the first versions, the authors had to be almost pioneers in the MMORPG genre. Therefore, in essence, the game is a standard set of leveling, crafts, and PvP. However, this does not prevent this world from existing to this day, delighting players.

10. Tera

Tera Online was another Korean game that was predicted to rehabilitate the MMORPG genre. And even though not all expectations were met, the high quality of execution makes this project quite popular to this day. Well, in our realities, this is facilitated by complete Russian-language localization.

And although Tera was one of the first MMORPGs with a Non-Target combat system, today this is not what makes it so valuable. People come here for truly fierce PvP, working according to the rules and foundations in the spirit of the old. Guild wars, sieges and showdowns for quality positions. The only thing that can prevent you from enjoying all this is the crazy Asian style of the game world and the bias of the content towards female characters.

11. Revelation Online

Following the Koreans, the Chinese continue to make attempts to seize records for MMORPG releases. And while most of these games remain popular in their homeland, Revelation Online has reached our shores, remaining warmly received by domestic gamers.

Typical Asian cuteness with wings, riding kittens and whales here intersects with many cruel things. The most significant difference between the game and others is the sieges, in which up to 5,000 people can take part. The picture of popularity is complemented by modern graphics, inclusions and interesting classes, among which there is even a fighter with firearms.

12. The Division

Few purebred MMORPGs deviate from the classic fantasy setting. Perhaps both this and the fact that The Division is made at the AAA level contributes to its popularity. The game world is presented as closed under quarantine due to the global spread of the deadly virus.

The chosen time frame and genre naturally favor the use of “firearms” of various calibers. A variety of fugitive criminals and other crazy individuals will get hit on the ears by the special squad agents. You will have to shoot in activities familiar to MMORPGs, such as missions, randomly generated “dungeons” in the subway and, of course, the PvP-oriented “Dark Zone”, famous from advertising trailers.

13. ArcheAge

Long-awaited, longed for and, according to the dreams of those who expected it, unsurpassed ArcheAge. A game of this magnitude has become popular, but what did this Korean MMORPG deserve such attention? To begin with, this is a picture that amazed the imagination at the time of its release. The 3.0 engine coped well with both water spaces and lush forests with animals running through them.

The second point is the variety and versatility of the gameplay. The authors of ArcheAge seem to have remembered everything that should be in an MMORPG and tried to bring it into their game. Here you can find farming, animal husbandry, guild wars, world bosses, naval battles and much more. Therefore, the above, together with the famous system of “Free” classes, are quite significant reasons for the continued popularity of the game.

14. Allods Online

Domestic Allods Online were clearly created with World of Warcraft in mind, which did not prevent them from becoming quite popular in our area. This MMORPG has been pleasing players both stylistically and gameplay-wise for many years. The game world combines fantasy, ancient Russian myths, cliches about and much more. All this diversity is very memorable and, maintaining a precarious balance, creates a unique picture.

The gameplay is not far from its ancestor. There are two factions “Red” and “Blue”, and leveling up with quests, and the ubiquitous “Battlegrounds”. But there is also a difference in this project, which is “Astral”. In the game world, guilds travel on their own, which even engage in clashes with each other. All this makes Allods a rather interesting alternative to World of Warcraft, flavored with a familiar spirit and recognizable things.

15. Albion Online

Our selection ends with a game like which we have been waiting for a very long time. Albion Online offers much of what modern representatives of the genre lack. Therefore, a developed guild system and the lack of marks on everything that moves and what needs to be moved are just the tip of the iceberg.

Completing the hardcore theme is a player-controlled economy. Within its framework, all resources and items are mined and created by users themselves, without generating them from stores. What makes the game more popular is the class system, in which the skills used are tied to armor and weapons, and not to the choice of development path.

All this, coupled with developed guild PvP for production zones, the construction of fortified areas and fierce battles, makes Albion Onlne quite famous among players. This MMORPG allows you to experience everything that is now shown by only a few developers.

Special: Destiny 2

Destiny 2 has been moved beyond the main list of popular MMORPGs. This happened because even unlike The Division, the shooter part is more dominant here. And yet there is a place for it on this list and it is well deserved. A project of this level is naturally doomed to become noticeable and attractive to many gamers. Whether it will stand the test of time remains to be seen, but for now the game shines brightly and noticeably.

Destiny 2, like the first part, is a mixture of shooter and MMORPG. There are raids, classes, and even an epic plot that continues the development of the story that began earlier. In addition, in comparison with its predecessor, both the combat and role-playing systems have become deeper and more interesting. And the shooting turned out to be almost a masterpiece. Overall, the game confirms the reputation of both Bungie and the famous series, which has finally reached PC.

Of course, the list is not complete, because there are still a lot of MMORPGs on the market. Offhand you can remember: Lineage 2, EVE Online, Runes of Magic, etc., etc. But the trick is that all these games are more famous than popular. While our list is quite relevant today. You can be sure that in these games you will not get bored from loneliness.

Massively multiplayer online games or simply MMORPGs - this combination is known to almost everyone, and every day the army of fans of this genre is growing. In turn, developers are rushing to pamper this army of fans with more and more new MMORPGs. However, unfortunately, most of them come down to simple cloning of existing projects.

But today I will introduce you to ten games that are truly worth playing. You may be surprised that neither the famous Lineage 2 nor the even more famous World of Warcraft made it into this TOP. The point here is that these games are pretty outdated and no longer meet the requirements of today. Many people still play them only because they simply don’t know about other - much more modern games, in which the graphics are much cooler and the gameplay is much richer. These are the truly worthwhile projects that will be discussed in our TOP.

10. Blade and Soul

8. The Elder Scrolls Online

Next on the list, but not least, is another great game from the line Elder Scrolls. The events in the game take place a thousand years before the events in Skyrmia. The action takes place in the fictional world of Tamriel

As usual, we will have an abundance of races and classes to choose from. The game has a huge and amazing combat system, which has been changed so that using all the skills looks like in other MMORPGs.

There are also pets, horse riding, professional leveling, soul stones and three factions represented by different animals. Here you will find vampires, werewolves, and much more. However, there will no longer be an opportunity to become infected and become a vampire. Apparently it turned out to be too difficult to implement this in an MMORPG, and the idea was abandoned.

7. Arche Age

The developers provide the player with so many options that it’s simply dizzying. Firstly, it is worth noting that you will be able to build, and build houses for yourself, create farms. Moreover, you can independently build entire fortresses and seize territory. Moreover, in the occupied territory you will be able to receive tribute from all players who will also build houses on your territory.

In addition, the game has a very original PvP system - there is no confrontation between races or classes. The entire confrontation is built between the players. Someone, let's say, attacked your fortress and destroyed it. It’s clear that you go on a campaign with your clan to take revenge on the scoundrels. This is exactly what PvP and the whole story of the game are based on. You can build not only houses and fortresses, but also ships - fight on these ships, board enemies, and so on. In addition, there is also a certain fantasy semblance of tanks.

You can mine resources and rob other players. Also, of course, there is a huge number of dungeons, bosses and all sorts of mobs from which you can get a lot of different goodies. There are, of course, disadvantages to the game, one of which is that mail.ru is responsible for the Russian localization of the game, which, as you understand, knows how to ruin a good game with an abundance of donations.

6. Parograd

This game is the only browser-based MMORPG on our list. Of course, in terms of graphics it is inferior to the giants, but otherwise it amazes with its capabilities, which are in no way inferior to the top games in its genre.

The main advantage of the Parograd game is that you don’t need to download anything. You simply register on the site and immediately start playing right in your browser. At the same time, the game is completely three-dimensional. In it you can also travel around the big world, there is a skill panel. In a word, everything is like in an ordinary normal MMORPG.

5. Aion

It’s a rather strange game in the sense that, despite the seemingly paid subscription, it allows itself such impudence as game stores for real money.

Of course, it's very easy to hate the Korean crafting system and cloying social presentation, right down to weddings. But if they play it, then the game has a right to exist.

The game is distinguished by beautiful graphics and a truly free open world. You can fly on your own wings, climbing the highest mountains and looking around the colossal world of Aion.

Read more about the game in Aion's review.

4. Royal Quest

The only Russian MMORPG in this TOP. Of course, it was not by chance that she was included in this list. After all, in all its characteristics it corresponds to any top online games. This includes excellent graphics and a huge, bright world with a large number of virtual characters and real players.

The game is also distinguished by its unique style, which includes elements of fantasy and steampunk. The game begins as an ordinary fairy-tale fantasy, but as you progress, the locations become increasingly darker, amazing mechanisms begin to appear, and then even signs of the modern world with electricity, etc.

3. Neverwinter Online

One of those games that millions of gamers have been waiting for, without exaggeration. Neverwinter Online features excellent graphics, truly beautiful locations, a non-target combat system that embodies a realistic physical model of battles, and even the ability to create your own quests

The game is linear, that is, you have to travel mainly along a specific path, which allowed you to hone all the quests to the maximum.

Because of all this, playing the game is truly interesting.

2. Black Gold Online

Another MMORPG in the style of steampunk and fantasy.

One of the key features of the project is the ability to complete some missions inside a robot - a mech. Moreover, you can play from both third and first person, like in classic shooters, which for some reason is something truly unique for MMORPGs. Although the ability to play in first person seems to have been in the air for a long time, bringing with it amazing gameplay possibilities.

The game was developed in China, but the developers were inspired more by the movie Avatar, because the main theme that is revealed in the game is the confrontation between the natural world and technology. Each player can choose one side or the other and enter into an irreconcilable war.

1. Tera Online

The game provides a huge, beautiful world that is a pleasure to explore. A huge number of skills that you can enhance. By the way, it is worth noting that the combat system is very, very attractive.

The game is good in every category that can be measured. Of course, there are some tricks here too. For example, a non-target system - that is, in order to strike an enemy, you must aim at him, otherwise you will simply miss. It looks much cooler than it sounds, believe me, the combat here is very realistic. This is especially true for shooters. At first it’s difficult to get used to such a system, but after an hour of playing you get the hang of it and start to get the hang of it. The peculiarity of non-target is that the player can take out the enemy, even if he is higher than him in level - and all only because he uses the mouse accurately and competently. That's how she is Tera Online.

Naturally, there is crafting, there is a profession that can be upgraded, and a lot of things that are typical of any self-respecting MMORPG. Finally, another important advantage of the game is its Russian localization, and of course it’s free.
