Apology gifts are sugar cake +5 and thoughtful gift +10. 50 pieces of each.
1) There are three ways to receive new gifts:
You can find them while exploring the world - be sure to check all chests and cabinets
You can buy them from vendors - some merchants sell more than one gift
You can steal them from certain civilians - look out for the people marked in yellow.
2) It is not recommended to sell any gifts you find because you will not be able to redeem them. The same goes for giving them to a random person. Remember that if you give a gift to the right person, you can get 5-15 approval points. If you are not sure who should receive the gift, save your game.
3) Try not to give more than 2-3 gifts in a row to the same person, because you will start receiving less points for each subsequent gift. Generally, the best option is to give one gift per person per camp stay.
4) If most of your companions refuse to accept a certain gift, there is a chance that this item is a unique gift and you should “reserve it” for later or find someone who will be very happy to receive it. In most of these cases, finding the recipient will result in at least 10 points and possibly even opening a new conversation topic.
5) Avoid giving gifts while staying in the open world. Instead, always return to camp and once you are in the safe zone, start handing out gifts.
The first column in the table below shows the location of the gifts and you need to use below the table to find them. For example:
- M21, P1 means you must open card 21 and find the symbol P1
- M21, 1 means you must look at card 21 and find the merchant marked 1 (you must buy the gift instead of begging for it or stealing it)
- M21, 1 means you must look at card 21, find the person marked 1, and either start a conversation or steal the gift using stealing skills.
The second column displays the name of the gift.
The third column suggests who should receive the gift in order to receive the maximum number of points. In some cases (shared gifts), more than one person can choose any member of your team.
Important! You can increase your chances of unlocking general gifts by visiting certain merchants many times. Wine is one of the few examples here. You can also get some rare gifts by sending your mabari hound to find items from the environment, and if you're lucky, the dog will bring you something valuable.

Dragon Age: Origins - FAQ: Companions
The game Dragon Age: Origins is party role-playing game. This means that other characters and companions will travel with you past your hero. These characters will be located in the Hero's camp and you can always take them with you. Often they are not inferior in strength to the Hero, and some are even superior. The game has such an indicator as the reputation of a companion. What does it mean? If your reputation is high, your companion character will receive a bonus to any attribute. Opportunities for receiving quests from companions and romantic relationships will also open up. If your reputation with your companion is low, then he will treat you with contempt, and if the reputation indicator reaches a critical point, the companion may leave the Hero.
So how can we prevent this from happening? Very simple. Give your companions due attention. Complete their quests, give gifts. Each companion requires a “special” approach. In addition, your codex will often contain useful information that will help you win the gratitude of your companion.
There are a total of 10 different companions in Dragon Age: Origins that you can enlist to help you. Brief information on each of them will be published in this topic.
1. Alistair Class: Warrior |
Important: During this easy quest you will have the opportunity toughen up Alistair. This moment can seriously affect his future behavior. To toughen up Alistair, after a conversation takes place between him and Goldanna, tell him that “Everyone cares only about himself.”
If you toughen up Alistair and leave Loghain alive at the meeting of the lands, Alistair will leave the Hero's party and express a desire to marry Anora and become the heir to the throne. The toughening also affects the ending of the Hero-girl, who had an affair with Alistair. If Alistair did not give the throne to Anora, but himself expressed a desire to become king, then only a Hero-girl of noble birth (backstory for the Couslands) could persuade him to marry, thus becoming a queen. If you toughen up Alistair, he will marry your heroine of any origin.
Romantic relationship: A romantic relationship with Alistair is only possible for a female Hero. To start a romantic relationship, simply ask Alistair about his life as a templar. Express your admiration for him. If his gratitude level increases, then when meeting in the camp, Alistair will give your Heroine a flower. This will be a sign of the beginning of a romantic relationship.
Present: Special gifts for Alistair are his mother's amulet and Duncan's shield. Amulin is in Earl Redcliffe's desk. The shield can be obtained from the Gray Wardens' secret warehouse. Riordan will tell you about him if you bring him his documents. Also, Alistair will not be averse to receiving rune stones and various figurines from you.
Moment of crisis: Alistair will leave the Hero only if you spare Loghain at the Land Meeting.
2. Morrigan Class: Mage |
3. Leliana Class: Robber |
- Talk to Leliana about her life in the monastery and express your admiration for her beauty. Say that all the novices in the monastery pale in comparison with her
- After completing the quest with Marjolaine, talk to Leliana at the camp. Ask her how she feels after what happened. Next, say that you understand what she is talking about. And then say that people change over time. If at the end of the dialogue Leliana noticed that you look like Marjoline, then this will be the beginning of your romantic relationship.
If you decide to toughen up Leliana, then after completing her personal quest, talk to her in the camp and tell her that Marjolaine is right in many ways. Killing others is part of Leliana's character.
Present: Special gifts for Leliana are “Andraste flowers”. Also, when talking with the naga catcher in Orzamar, Leliana will ask the Hero to buy her a naga. Leliana will be grateful to you if you give her various symbols/amulets of Andraste and other church items.
Moment of crisis: Leliana will leave the Hero's group if during the quest "Urn of Sacred Ashes" the Hero desecrated Andraste's ashes. If at the time of desecration the urn with Leliana’s ashes was not nearby, then she will still find out about it in the hero’s camp. But with the proper skill and a high level of gratitude, she can be persuaded to stay. If you toughened up Leliana during her personal quest, then she will not abandon the Hero even if he desecrates the urn in front of her eyes.
4. Stan Class: Warrior |
5. Zevran Class: Robber |
Present: Special gifts for Zevran are Dalish gloves, which can be found in a chest in the Bressilian forest, as well as Antian boots. The boots can be found in the village of Vault.
Moment of crisis: When you are attacked by Taliesen in the Denerim quarters, Zevran may leave the Hero and join the assassin if his attitude towards you is very negative. If Zevran treats you warmly, he will help you deal with Taliesen. After this, you will have to decide what to do with the elf, drive him away, or continue traveling with him.
6. Wynn Class: Mage |
7. Oghren Class: Warrior |
8. Dog Class: Warrior |
9. Loghain mac Tir Class: Warrior |
10. Sheila Notes: Companion Sheila is available only after installing the DLC - "Stone Prisoner". Sheila also has various unique abilities that are unavailable to anyone else. Sheila has no equipment. The only thing that can be done is to insert special crystals into the golem. The first type of crystals affects the damage dealt, the second type affects armor. Class: Warrior |
Personal quest: Sheila's personal quest "Memory of the Stone". It becomes available during the quest "Perfect". At the end of this quest you will meet Karidin. Mighty golem. If Sheila is in your company, she herself will ask him about the place of her birth/creation. He will tell her about the ruins of Kadash, located on the deep paths.
If you didn’t take the golem with you, then just talk to her in the camp after completing the quest “Perfect”. Agree to help her find the place where she was created. Go to Orzamar and go down to the deep paths in any of the Thags. After Sheila appears, she will speak to the Hero and the mark of Teiga Kadash will appear on the map. Go there and explore the ruins. there you will meet the Spawn of Darkness. At the end you will have a fight with the mighty Ogre. Deal with him. Next, Sheila will begin to read the notes on the stone saw. That's it, the quest is over.
Romantic relationship: Impossible.
Present: Sheila loves gems.
Moment of crisis: If you took Branca's side and went against Karidian during the quest "Perfect", Sheila will try to stop you.
In the Age of the Dragon game universe, there are many different ways to interact with your companions. One such way is gifts from Dragon Age - these are special items that can be given to party members for approval points. The rating can be determined both by the value of the gift and by the preferences of the recipients themselves. The number of items available for donation is limited. Usually the approval points for subsequent gifts are reduced, the lowest bonus can be +1.
In today's article we will take a closer look at gifts from Dragon Age: Origins. This is the very first part of the game series of the same name, which implemented the mechanics of gifts. We also note that only four companions from the first part of Dragon Age will be mentioned in the article - Alistair, Wynn, Zevran and Leliana.
How to give a gift?
Perhaps the main question that worries many: how to give gifts to companions in Dragon Age: Origins? In fact, everything is quite simple: just drag the desired item from your own inventory onto the required character, or right-click on the gift and select the appropriate option.
Approval system
Approval will be awarded according to the following scheme:
- Any gift can earn you +5 points. All subsequent presentations are accompanied by a penalty of -1 approval. Thus, the very first present gives us +5 points, the next one gives us +4 points, the next one gives us +3 points and so on.
- Having received a gift of a special type, the character will reward us with an additional approval of +5 points (the total bonus is +10). Penalties also affect the value of special gifts, causing it to drop to +6 approval.
- Approving a character with a negative rating results in a double reduction in the value of the gift. Thus, the regular category of gifts gives 0 points, the special category gives +5 points to approval.
- Once the rating reaches the maximum of +100, new approval points are no longer awarded.
- An increasing approval rating opens up access to new bonuses for companions. These bonuses are added to the main skills. So, for example, Leliana’s character increases her cunning with additional bonuses.
Special category of gifts
As we mentioned earlier, special gifts give the player +10 points to the approval of one or another companion. Exceptions are gifts related to the plot. If the gift is special for a particular character, all attempts to give it to other characters will end in failure.
Dragon Age gifts: who should give which ones? What should I give Alistair?
Alistair has always liked magic, so he will be happy with mysterious rune stones or figurines. What else can you give this character?
- A medallion that belonged to Alistair's mother (plot item) - you can find the medallion in Radcliffe Castle.
- White Rune Stone - Found in the Circle Tower.
- Stone figurine in the form of a warrior - to get the figurine you will have to go deep into the caves that are located under the destroyed temple.
- Stone figurine in the form of a dragon - a gift hidden in Radcliffe Castle.
- Small carved figurine - hidden in the Lothering location.
- Onyx figurine in the form of a demon - you can find the figurine in Eastern Brecilian.

- Black Runestone - in search of this gift from Dragon Age, we will have to go to the Teig location of the Educan house, which is located on the Deep Paths.
- The shield that belonged to Duncan (plot item) will be found in the Denerim trading warehouse.
- Gray Warden Puppet - Available with the Holiday Gifts expansion pack for Dragon Age. Gives +50 points to approval. The puppet can be bought from the gnome Bodan Fedik.
- A collection of the complete genealogy of the rulers of Ferelden - the item is available only after installing the “Holiday Gifts” add-on. After receiving it, Alistair's approval rating for the player is reduced by -50 points. The book can also be purchased from Bodan Fedik.
What to give Winn?
Wynne values printed materials very much, so she is always ready to accept books or scrolls as gifts. However, these are far from the only items with which you can please her.
- Secrets of the Blood of Dragons - this book can be found in the Ruined Temple location.
- Ornate Scroll - Located on the lower level of the Brecilian Ruins.
- Genealogy of the Gerrins of Ferelden - can be found in Radcliffe Castle.

- Bottle of wine - this gift can be found in several places at once: in the "Spoiled Princess", in Lothering and Radcliffe.
- Locket of Memories - Requires Dragon Age Holiday Gifts and Giveaways. The medallion can be purchased from the merchant Bodan Fedik. After the player gives it to Wynn, he will receive +50 approval points.
- The Cat Lady's Staff is not the best gift for Wynn, reducing her approval rating by -50 points. It is added to the game along with the “Holiday Gifts” add-on and is sold by the same Bodan Fedik.
What to give Zevran?
Zevran will never refuse leather goods or precious ingots. All suitable gifts for him are described below.
- Dalish gloves made of deer skin (plot item) - for the gloves we go towards Western Brecilian.

- A bottle of rare Antivan brandy - the player receives +50 points to Zevran's approval. Appears in the game along with the “Gifts and Raffles” add-on and is sold by Bodan Fedik.
- Belt of Loyalty - the player loses -50 points from Zevran's loyalty. If "Gifts and Pranks" was installed, then the belt can be found at the Bodan merchant.
What to give Leliana?
Leliana's character always enjoys gifts with symbols of Andraste and the Church.
- Andraste's Grace (story item) is a flower that grows in Radcliffe, Elfinage, and also in Western Brecilian.
- Beautiful Naga (story item) - usually found in Dusty City.
- Church medallion - can be found in the Circle Tower.
- Andraste's symbol made of bronze - hidden in the Lothering location.
- Andraste's symbol made of gold - hidden in Orzamar.
- Andraste's symbol of steel - hidden in Denerim, in the shopping district.
- The Sword of Mercy, forged from silver, can be found in Old Terin.
- The Lute is an additional gift from the Giveaways and Giveaways expansion pack for Dragon Age: Origins. Sold by Bodan Fedik and has a value of +50 approval points.
- Terrible Boots is a gift with negative -50 approval points that also appears in the main game along with the expansion. You can buy Terrible Boots from the same merchant Bodan Fedik.
