How and where to adopt children in Skyrim with the dragonborn add-on? Skyrim where to adopt children

In this article we will look at how to adopt a child in Skyrim. In The Elder Scrolls universe, children are a new phenomenon. They can be first met in the game Skyrim, where the younger generation received human races: Bretons, Redguards, Imperials and Nords.

In big cities and small villages, children can be seen running down the street during the day. As night approaches, the kids go home or share leisure time with their parents, spending evenings in taverns.

The child can invite the hero to play catch or hide and seek together.

All the girls and all the boys in Skyrim look like identical twins, differing only in their hairstyles and the color of their clothes. The race of a child can only be determined by his parents. Judging by the dialogue, child adoption is unpopular in the game, although this could clarify a lot.

Inventory

Clothing for Skyrim children is the same. Boys wear shirts of various colors and red-brown trousers, girls wear dresses of the same cut with a belt. In the inventory of adopted children in Skyrim you can find some gold, tasty food and various small items.

Interaction with the child

Children can be quest givers and conduct dialogue with Dovahkiin and other characters. Some beg, may trade with the hero and play with him. Babette from the Dark Brotherhood will even be able to teach the dragonborn Alchemy.

However, most interactions with children are not possible.

The main feature is that a child cannot be injured or killed. Stealing from children or drinking their blood will also not work; screaming has no effect on them. A child is not suitable for the role of a companion or spouse (although, if you listen to Babette, there are plenty of perverts in Skyrim).

You can try to hit the child, then he will run away screaming, and then return and appeal to your conscience.

Adoption

With the advent of the Hearthfire expansion, child adoption has become possible. A Dovahkiin who wants to give a family to an orphan does not have to be married. All you need for this is your own home, equipped with a children's sleeping place and a chest for your new child's things.

You can adopt a maximum of two children.

In some cases, finding children to adopt in Skyrim is not easy. If little Lucia runs all over Whiterun and is encountered almost every time you visit the city, then, for example, Sophie sells flowers at the inconspicuous entrance to the port of Windhelm. Little Breton Blaise works on the Katla farm near Solitude, where you may not even look, and the Redguard Alesan meets near the Dawnstar mine.

Even if you are not too interested in the fate of orphans, Constance Michel will inform you in a letter about how to adopt a child shortly after the murder of the owner of the Riften orphanage. To be fair, the kids in the orphanage have better conditions than the street orphans, and after the death of Grelod the Good, it’s a shame for them to complain at all.

Features of interaction with children and their behavior with Hearthfire installed:

Children adopted by Dovahkiin will bring various little things (sometimes very rare and expensive) and put them in a chest in the nursery. These are gifts from a grateful baby.

A child can have a pet. It could be a fox, a crab or a small skeever.

Sons and daughters love gifts in the form of toys, delicious food, books and daggers. The Dovahkiin who pleases the child receives the Gift of Mercy, so you no longer have to look for beggars in Skyrim.

After spending the night in a house with their children, the Dragonborn is given the "Feeling of a Mother's Love", which increases the effectiveness of Restoration spells by 25%.

Children who are orphaned during the game are sent to the Riften orphanage, where you can adopt children in Skyrim.

Dovahkiin can place his children in different houses, but in case of marriage, the children will go to live where you choose your spouse.

Friendly animals appear near the country estate where the dragonborn child lives. They allow you to approach them, but initially they will keep their distance.

You can adopt some children whose parents were killed by the Dovahkiin himself.

Sometimes your sons and daughters quarrel. You can play teacher and reprimand the instigator or both children at once.

From time to time the child will ask for “pocket money”. You can get away with five septims or, being generous, give your child up to a thousand gold pieces. At the same time, the Gift of mercy is also given.

Bugs related to children:

Children who witness a crime committed by Dovahkiin may turn to thugs or the Dark Brotherhood.

After installing the Dawnguard addon, a child can turn into a vampire. This will happen if bloodsuckers attack the estate in your absence. Converted children do not become aggressive towards the parent.

Orphans from the orphanage may end up stuck there after adoption. At the same time, they will say that you need to pack your things and say goodbye to your friends.

During a game of hide and seek, a child may not look for a parent, but mark time

Sometimes girls “lose” their outer clothing and walk around in their underwear. The problem is easy to solve by giving your daughter a new dress.

Once you figure out how to adopt Skyrim children, all that remains is to decide which of the orphans to bestow your mercy on. All houses available for construction or purchase are ready to accept children. Even a small “House of Warm Winds” can accommodate a nursery with two cribs, a training dummy and a chest.

In a country estate, Dovahkiin can place a room for children on the second floor of the main hall or build an entire sleeping wing.

In the original Skyrim you could adopt no more than 2 orphans, but with this mod this number will increase to 6. Children will be able to take advantage of all the opportunities provided by the Hearthfire DLC. This mod is also compatible with modifications that add Orphans. For example Meisha.

Requirements: Skyrim, Hearthfire

Also, with the help of this mod, you can move your family to a new house from the modification (if it is adapted for it).

Optional esp: Adopted children will receive the prefix "Dovakir" to their name, which means "Child of the Dragon".

Supported houses from mods:
Darkwater Lodge
Scholars Solace
Keep of the Hero
Elysium Estate
and others...

To move into a house from a mod:
- Visit the house and use the Blessing of the House spell.
- Talk to your children or spouse about moving them into a new home.
- When adopted, you can immediately send your children to a new home.

Known incompatibilities:
Spouses can Live Anywhere: Changes the same script.
Multiple Marriages: changes the same script, and also has not been updated for Hearthfire

FAQ:
Q: Can you increase the number of adopted children even more?
A: I can, but I won't. It's a whole lot of work, and where can they all sleep?

Q: Can you make such and such a house compatible?
A: No, ask the author of that house.

Q: I installed the mod after adopting 2 children. Will I be able to adopt more without starting a new game?
A: Most likely not. But it all depends on the current state of your game. You can try the console commands below, but make an extra save before doing so just in case.

Problems:
The commands below may or may not work! Skyrim stores running scripts in your save. This means that if the adoption system is already active in your game, the changes may not take effect.

Always make a separate save just in case, so you can return to it if something goes wrong.

If you have already adopted children before installing this mod, then open the console and enter:
stopquest BYOHRelationshipAdoptable
resetquest BYOHRelationshipAdoptable
setstage BYOHRelationshipAdoptable 0
stopquest BYOHRelationshipAdoptableOrphanage
resetquest BYOHRelationshipAdoptableOrphanage
setstage BYOHRelationshipAdoptableOrphanage 0
setstage BYOHRelationshipAdoptableOrphanage 100

If this doesn't help, then try the following:
Select the child you are going to adopt and enter into the console:
street children: SetFactionRank xx004290 1
orphans: SetFactionRank xx004290 10
If that still doesn't help, then try rank 11 or 13
xx - Hearthfire number in load order (probably 2 or 3)

  • Look for homeless children in the city.
  • I found homeless children only in Whiterun and Solitude in Whiterun near a big tree with benches and in Solitude in the port
  • In the Dragonborn expansion, you cannot adopt children only in Hearthfire.
  • I do not agree with the author of the top answer, because you can keep two children in Windhelm.
  • In the dark brotherhood? Quest? Damn this is the main one in the dark brotherhood when I woke up I found myself in some house she told me to kill 1 of the 3 victims but I did not agree and killed her what to do how to adopt HELP PLEASE!
  • Okay, everyone calm down. Here are all the lines and chains:
First of all, children can only be adopted in the Hearthfire DLC. (the rest do not affect this)

    0) you can ask the guards (simply by pressing E (English) by default)
    1) Come to Windhelm and go to the house of Aventus Arentino (you can open the location map and find it there)
    2) Talk to him until the dialogue ends.
    (The quest "Innocence Lost" begins
    3) Come to Riften, and go to the "Noble Orphanage of Riften"
    4) Kill Grelod the Good (Not Constance Michelle)
    5) Return to Aventus Arentino in Windhelm.
    6) Talk to him until the end of the dialogue.
    Added: Arentino Family Heirloom.
    7) wait from 12 to 36 hours of game time.
    8) When you receive a note from the Messenger with the inscription “We know,” then go to bed. (you can sleep 1 hour or more, it doesn’t matter)
You wake up in the Abandoned Hut location.
    9) Talk to Astrid until the end of the dialogue.
The beginning of the quest "With such friends."
And this is where the real juice begins.
There are 2 chains of actions:
1)You kill Astrid. (And perhaps free the Prisoners)
    2) You kill 1 of 3 Prisoners (You can have all 3 or 2)
    If you kill Astrid:
The quest "With such friends." fails.
The quest "Farewell to the Dark Brotherhood" begins.
You must come to the "Dragon Bridge"
And come to the Penitus Oculatus Post.
Go to the character named Commander Maron.
    And talk to him.
He will give you the task of killing everyone in the Dark Brotherhood Vault.
And he will tell you the password for the Dark Door: “Silence, my brother”
    Kill everyone at the shelter!
Then go to the Penitus Oculatus Headquarters and talk again with Commander Maron.
He will reward you with 3000 septims and increase the reputation of the guards throughout Scarim.
    If you kill prisoners:
Astrid will invite you to join the Dark Brotherhood.
And he will tell you the password for the Dark Door: “Silence, my brother.”
And then a LONG CHAIN OF QUESTS will begin.
At the end: Killing Astrid has no effect on anything.
A messenger should come running to you with a letter about a change of leadership at the Noble Orphanage of Riften.
And after that you can adopt children (Without mods max. 2) In my experience in HOUSES (like Whiterun, Windhelm, Markarth) you can only adopt 1 child
And in built houses (like Falkreath, Dawnstar) there are 2.
Children can be found not only in the Noble Orphanage of Riften, but throughout Skyrim in the domains, However, the rule is max. 2 or 1 child is saved.
Thank you for reading this comment.

  • First, you buy or build a house. Then you need to furnish it with furniture, then you need to complete the quest in the Dark Brotherhood to kill the owners of the shelter in Riften. After some time, you receive a letter. After that, you go to Riften to the same orphanage, talk to the new owner and adopt the child.
  • Build a house or buy it and equip one of the rooms as a nursery. There is an orphanage in Riften with several children to choose from. There is a street child in every city, adopt up to two of them, of your choice. The Dragonborn expansion has nothing to do with this, the children are in the Heartfire DLC
  • need to equip a children's room in the house
then you can adopt 2 children

How to adopt a child in Skyrim?

To adopt a child in the game Skyrim, first go to the capital of any hold where you have a house; if you don’t have one, be sure to build one. The house must have an alchemical laboratory - a mandatory attribute.

Before you deal with this issue closely, make sure that you have a children's room, which will require moving the alchemical laboratory, or even getting rid of it altogether.

When you are sure that both the room and the second note from the courier are already there, you can go to the Noble Orphanage, which is located in the city of Riften.

Arriving at the shelter, ask Constance Michelle about the conditions for adopting children, you will be asked about your occupation - try to impress your interlocutor. You can, for example, say that you are a Dragonborn or an Archmage. Constance will inform you that the child will be delivered to your home.

True, the child will not move in with you if you do not make sure that you have a crib or a special chest for his things.

You will be given the opportunity to communicate with the children to choose which one you want to take for yourself. You can ask any child to tell about himself, and also ask him if he wants you to adopt him.

In principle, it is not necessary to pick up children from the orphanage - you can also adopt lonely children on the streets of Whiterun, Windhelm and a couple of other locations.

    Preparing for Adoption

Go to the capital of any hold in which you have a house - or build a house with an alchemy laboratory.
You will meet a courier who will give you two notes; the first explains how to allocate a room in the house for a child, and the second asks you to contact the shelter with an application for adoption.

Before adoption, you need to have a nursery; To do this, you will have to move the alchemy laboratory (Editor's note: in some sources - get rid of it; there are sources that add a table to the alchemical laboratory for enchanting objects).

    ATTENTION:
    1. Make sure that your weapons are stored away from the children's room - there is a bug that permanently deletes all weapons and armor stored in the immediate vicinity of it. We recommend moving all valuables away before creating a nursery.
    2. If you purchase furnishings for the nursery before the house is ready, then the chests of drawers may disappear along with their contents.

When you already have both the children's room and the second note from the courier, go to the Noble Orphanage in Riften.
At the shelter, ask Constance Michelle about the conditions of adoption. When asked about your occupation, choose an answer that will impress her: say that you are the Dragonborn or the Archmage. She will say that the child will be delivered to your house.

    ATTENTION:
    1. If you do not have your own home or children's room, you will have to go home - until you fulfill the requirement to acquire them (see video in our publication dated September 04 Hearthfire: first steps).

    2. A child will not move into your house if you do not have a crib and a chest of drawers or a special chest for his things.

You can adopt three children (Editor’s note: some sources claim two).
Constance will give you the opportunity to talk to the children to determine which one you want to adopt. You can ask your child to tell you a little about himself and ask if he wants to become your son or daughter. Mostly children answer something like: “I’ll just pack my things and go home! Thank you, thank you!”

ATTENTION: You can adopt not only children from the orphanage; there are also lonely children on the streets of Whiterun, Windhelm and some other locations. One of them who is not an orphan can be adopted only after the death of his parents.

    Why are they lonely?

The father, a sailor, died of illness.
Evil relatives kicked me out of the house.
Parents served in the Legion and died during hostilities.

After the adoption, you will interact with the child.
Children can be given small tasks around the house, given gifts, and played with them.
Children's clothes are multi-colored: red, yellow, green, gray and blue; boys have tunics, girls have dresses.
You can give a girl a doll and play with the child.
You can play war with a boy, fighting with a wooden sword; he can carry it with him all the time.
One day a child will bring some animal from the street and ask if he can leave it at home. If you allow, he will be happy to have a pet.
You can play hide and seek and tag with your children.

    Some children, if they catch Dovahkiin in the act of committing a crime, may hire thugs or the Dark Brotherhood, although only adults can do this;

    • There is an interesting moment in the game when children and their parents belong to different races. For example, Fjotra is a Nord, and her parents Enmon and Mina are Bretons. Or Minnetia Vinnia is a Nord when her whole family is Imperials.
    • Dawnguard: Any child after adoption and a vampire raid on the estate can become a vampire. It doesn’t kill itself, it doesn’t attack. But is this a bug?

Hearthfire. How to adopt a child in Skyrim (guide)

In September 2012, Hearthfire was released - the second official plugin for the game Skyrim. The addition expanded the hero's social capabilities. For example, there was an opportunity to build your own house, adopt children and create your own orphanage.

This post is all about the children of Skyrim and their adoption.

First, a little information about children in general, then in detail about each child who can be adopted, and the bugs noticed in connection with this.

In the game Skyrim you can find children of only human races: Bretons, Nords, Imperials and Redguards. You will not find children of Altmer, Bosmer, Dunmer, Orcs, Argonians or Khajiit anywhere.

Children have no spells or any abilities. But they are absolutely invulnerable and never participate in battles, running away at the first sounds of battle. Yes, in Skyrim you can talk and interact with children through quests and various games (for example, play tag or hide and seek), but you cannot kill them. There is also no opportunity to pickpocket, although you can sneak up and see what things the child has on him. This was done so that the developers could not be accused of creating a “child murder simulation”. For the same reason, mods that make it possible to kill children are not accepted in the Steam Workshop. However, the game has a "death scream" sound that the game plays if a child is killed using the mod. And no matter how “fans of realism” ask, the developers will never introduce the killing of children, if only because there are countries where legal disputes are a sport that brings a lot of fines to those game makers who follow the lead of their clients.

Also, the game does not provide the ability to create a child character, although of course this is possible with the help of console commands or mods.

    2. WHO YOU CAN ADOPT IN THE GAME

You can go to the Noble Orphanage in Riften and contact Constance Michelle at the orphanage. The latter, if anyone doesn’t remember, as a result of completing the quest “Innocence Lost” - to help orphans get rid of their despot teacher - becomes the “manager” of the orphanage. If the quest has not yet been completed, or you decided to play the “good” Dovahkiin and abandoned the dark brotherly line, then you will not be able to adopt children from the orphanage, since the harmful old woman Grelod the Good does not even want to discuss the issue of adoption.

In addition to children who were previously in the orphanage, after installing the Hearthfire add-on, children who were orphaned during the game (i.e. whose parents were killed) are placed there, but only after the death of Grelod. From where they can be adopted by the player character.

Aventus Aretino cannot be adopted because he will never return to the shelter.

The addition also introduces individual orphans, whom you can meet in different cities and villages.

Below I will list all the children, both from the orphanage and tramps and laborers, whom you can adopt, as well as known bugs and ways to fix them.

    - Alisan, Redguard, Dawnstar.

Alisan is the only child found in Dawnstar. His father was a sailor, and took him with him on his last voyage to Skyrim. On the way, the father fell ill, and the captain ordered him to be put ashore along with his son. A few days later, his father died, and Alisan was left alone in the cold land. He earns his living by delivering food to miners from the Mercury and Iron Ore mines. You can find him at work cleaning baskets, while working in the garden for the Wind Peak Tavern, or in the city when he runs past you.

Advice against bugs: do not place Alisan in the Warm Winds house in Whiterun. Otherwise, Lydia, who is your Whiterun housecarl, will loop Alisan with her auto-actions, who will endlessly enter and exit through the front doors. This can be corrected by contacting the boy and telling him to take care of his business, or by eliminating Lydia, but it is better not to settle him in Whiterun at all.

    - Blaise, Breton, Cattle farm near Solitude.

Blaze's parents served in the Imperial army and were killed in a Stormcloak ambush. Kattla, the owner of a farm near Solitude, said she would feed him if he was useful to her, so the boy takes care of horses and runs errands. He sleeps outside in a pile of hay in the stable and says that he is “tired of sleeping outside next to the horses. I wish I had a real home, real parents.” After finding out these details, you can adopt him, and the child will run under his own power to the house you indicated with a nursery and a chest.

Once in your house, Blaze first of all runs to look at the armor.

    - Francois Beaufort, Imperial, "Noble Orphanage" in Riften.

His parents left him at the orphanage about a year ago, and the boy believes they will come back and get him, as they promised. However, apparently, he was simply abandoned. After Grelod the Good is killed, he and the other orphans will rejoice and triumph. Like many children in Skyrim, the boy has with him a set of food and toys and a small amount of gold. His daily routine is no different from all children, and he can always be found inside the orphanage.

    - Samuel, Imperial, Noble Orphanage in Riften.

Nothing is known about his history. After Grelod the Good is killed, he and the other orphans will rejoice and triumph.

No bugs were noticed during adoption.

    - Hroar, Nord, Noble Orphanage in Riften.

Nothing is known about his parents. He is proud that his name sounds like a lion's roar. He is unhappy that Grelod the Good is preventing his adoption, although he says that he would be the "better son" in the new family. He approves of Aventus Aretino's plans, and when Grelod the Good is killed, he triumphs along with the other orphans of the orphanage.

No bugs were noticed during adoption.

    - Lucia, Imperial, Whiterun.

Lucia can be found after installing the DLC in Whiterun, most often near the Temple of Kynareth, under the Goldenleaf tree, where she sits on one of the benches.

You can find her from 8.00 to 20.00 near Zlatolist, from 20.00 to 00 in the Prancing Mare tavern, at midnight she goes to the backyard of the hotel and sleeps on the ground until 8.00.

She has a "All Beggars Quest" associated with her, meaning you can give her a gold coin and receive the "Gift of Mercy".

    No bugs noticed.

A girl wanders the streets of Windhelm and sells flowers in flower baskets. She is an orphan, her mother died when she was very young, and her father disappeared in the civil war between the Stormcloaks and the Imperial Legion. From 8 am to 5 pm she will be selling flowers at the back gate of Windhelm. After 17.00 she can usually be found sitting outside the New Gnisis Club. At 8:00 pm she heads to the room at the back of Niranya House and sleeps until 8 am.

Sophie, like all of Windhelm, has a lot of bugs.

If you don't buy all the items she sells off her hands before adopting, you won't be able to give her gifts or dress her up later, since all her flower baskets will remain in your inventory.

If all the other children, after the dialogue about adoption, run on their own to your house, which has a children's room, then Sophie will remain standing, even if you approach her many times. In this case, she will be considered adopted, and you will not be able to take another child in her place.

If you adopted Sophie before the Imperials captured Windhelm, she may disappear from your home after the capture. In this case, you need to select the “let’s move to another house” option in a conversation with the other child or spouse. After the move, Sophie must appear in a new place.

If you have lost Sophie, you can call her through the console. To do this, type prid xx004031 (where xx is the sequence number in which you installed the Hearthfire DLC), then moveto player to move it to the estate.

Nothing is known about her parents. At the orphanage, when you first meet her, she tells you in detail about a boy named Aventus Aretino, who ran away from the orphanage. After killing Grelod the Good, she rejoices along with the other children, and says to the hero: “By killing one person, you immediately solved so many problems for others. It’s very interesting what awaits you ahead,” as if hinting at the “dark brotherly” future of the hero.

Unfortunately, the skins of the children are very monotonous, and it is impossible to find any individuality in them, except that the Bretons and Imperials are brunettes, and the Nord girls are blondes. Even Retgard Alisan is a copy of any Imperial boy.

    3. CONDITIONS OF ADOPTION

After installing Hearthfire, a messenger may give you a letter regarding adoption issues.

To adopt a child, you must, firstly, have your own home, and, secondly, this house must have a children's room. If this is a house you built, then you cannot move the child into it until a chest appears in the nursery in which the child will store his things.

The easiest way, in my opinion, is to create a nursery in your house in Solitude: after contacting the jarl's assistant, the door to the new room simply appears on the third floor next to your bedroom. In most other houses, you are offered to replace the alchemy laboratory with a nursery.

It is not necessary to be married.

If you decide to adopt a child from an orphanage, then you need to contact Constance Michelle. She will be delighted and answer: “Yes, of course! What a wonderful surprise!” If you ask her what needs to be done for this, she will ask the character's name and occupation. It’s interesting that if you call yourself an assassin or a thief, she will be indignant at “such jokes,” but if you call yourself an adventurer or a mercenary, she will only say “Hmm...”. Obviously, the title of Archmage of Winterhold, Harbinger of the Companions or Dovahkiin will give you more confidence.

If you have houses equipped with a children's room, then during the conversation a list of these houses will appear. The same option will appear during the first dialogue about adoption with any orphan in the vastness of Skyrim. Once you choose one of the houses, there will be no choice, and the second child will automatically be sent there. However, later you can move your family to any house with an equipped children's room.

After this, Constance Michel will congratulate you and send you to choose a child: “Go meet the children and choose the one you would like to adopt. After you make a decision, I will collect their things and make sure they are in your house.”

However, if you do not have suitable accommodation, she will say: “. Let's be objective. You are an adventurer. This is not the safest or most reliable profession. I must be sure that the child will grow up in a safe and secure home. Show me that you can take care of a child. Buy a house. Furnish it with furniture. After that, come back and we’ll talk.”

After her consent, you can talk to the orphans living in the orphanage and ask them to talk about themselves, or offer them adoption. If you do not have your own home, then the dialogue about adoption for shelter children will not even appear. If you talk to an orphan from the street, the dialogue will take the form: “I have a house, but I don’t have a room for you” - “Oh, okay... Thanks anyway, I’ll think about it.”

    4. COMMUNICATION WITH ADOPTED CHILDREN

Present. When the child settles in your home, you will have the opportunity to give him gifts and play with him. You can give him “boy/girl clothes” and then he will change into them. You can give him sweets like honey, sweet roll or cakes. Girls can be given a doll, boys a wooden sword.

Magic. If you use magic near a child, he will ask you to make him invisible, but since the game does not allow you to cast invisibility on another character, you cannot do this, and the child will be upset.

Games. In the dialogue with the child, the options “let’s play” (then you can play hide and seek or tag) and “go play outside” appear. If it is dark outside, then the child, although he will leave through the front door, will not appear on the street, and may disappear until the morning. In Solitude, he never joins children running along the street to play tag or hide-and-seek with them.

You can ask your child to “get busy.”

Pets. Foster children can bring a variety of creatures into your home and keep them as pets. These can be rabbits, foxes, mudcrabs, skeevers and even frost spiders. If you want to kill your pet, the child will try to stop you and say “Leave me/him alone!”, and if you kill him, he will be offended and say “I won’t talk to you anymore!”

When you sleep in your home, where there is a nursery and adopted children live, then in the morning instead of the “good rest” blessing, you receive two new ones:

Embrace of Love: Your skills grow 15% faster for 8 hours (same as Lover's Stone, but with a time limit).

Mother's Love: Healing spells and potions restore 25% more health for 8 hours.

    6. ACHIEVEMENTS

When you adopt your first child, you receive the following achievement:

Children are the young inhabitants of Skyrim who can be found in various places. In the game Skyrim there are children of the following races: Bretons, Nords, Imperials and Redguards.

    • Height: 0.8000
    • Weight: 1.0000
    • There are no spells or any abilities
    • Absolutely invulnerable

If you do not use custom mods and console commands, then children are not playable (it is impossible to create a child character).

Just like in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, in Skyrim you can talk and interact with children through quests, dialogues and various games (tag, hide-n-seek), but you cannot kill or harm them in any way. They also cannot be used for some other actions, such as pickpocketing and feeding. This is to prevent any controversy about "Killing the Children". If children could be killed in the game, Bethesda would be accused of creating a child murder simulation. On the other hand, by not being able to kill children, Bethesda could be accused of "ruining realism and immersion."

For this reason, there were no children in either Morrowind or Oblivion (although the idea was in the air). But in the end, they were included in Fallout and Skyrim, but they are invincible and unkillable.

For the same reason, mods that make it possible to kill children are not accepted in the Steam Workshop.

And finally, children never participate in battles and run away at the first sounds of battle.

Children's starting skills vary depending on their race.

List of children and their locations

In total, there are 38 children in the Skyrim game (3 Bretons, 3 Imperials, 3 Redguards and 29 Nords). The Hearthfire expansion adds 4 more children (one for each of the 4 mentioned races).

If you have the Hearthfire plugin installed, you can adopt a child from the Noble Orphanage in Riften, or a homeless orphan, for example, such as Lucia from Whiterun. You do not have to be married to adopt. You can foster one or two children, but children can only be adopted if you have a child's bed in your home and a container in which the child can store his belongings.

    • House of Warm Winds
    • Kjerim(orig. Add Child Room (redesign near secret room, with minor storage loss).)
    • Honey cake(orig. Turn Enchanting Lab into Child Room.)
    • High Spire Estate(orig. Add Child Room (entirely new room, minimal disruption).)
    • Vlindrel Hall(orig. Turn Alchemy Lab into Child Room.)

    Player built houses HF
All three houses built by the player have child-related upgrades. After building the main hall, you should add 1-2 single beds (depending on how many children you want to adopt) and a wardrobe between them. Additionally, it is not necessary to build bedrooms in the west wing of the house; however, if you build them, you will also need to build a child's bed(s) and a child's chest(s) so that the children can live in that room.

After installing Hearthfire, a messenger may give you a letter regarding adoption issues. If you decide to adopt a child from an orphanage, then ask Constance Michelle if you could adopt a child. She will be delighted and answer: “Yes, of course! What a wonderful surprise!” Ask her what needs to be done for this, and she will ask for your name and occupation. You may have options:

After that, she will ask where the child will live.

If you have suitable houses equipped with a children's room, a list of houses suitable for a child will appear. Choose one and she will congratulate you: "Very good. That's all we need from you. Congratulations! I think you will make a wonderful parent. Go meet the children and choose the one you would like to adopt. After you make your decision, I will collect their things and I'll make sure they're in your house." "Come on, talk to the children! I'm sure they want to get to know you."

However, if you do not have suitable housing with furniture for the child, she will tell you: "Let's be objective. You are an adventurer. This is not the safest and most reliable profession. I need to make sure that the child will grow up in a safe and secure home. Show me that you can take care of a child. Buy a house. Furnish it furniture. After that, come back and we'll talk." If you linger or approach her again, he will tell you: "I'm very sorry, but until you have your own home with room for the child, I cannot allow you to adopt anyone."

After this, you can talk to the orphans living in the orphanage and ask them to talk about themselves, or offer them adoption. A unique conversation for each child can be found on their respective pages.

When talking to the homeless orphans you meet in cities and towns, you have the opportunity to learn about them through dialogue and then talk to them about adoption.

The adoption dialogue for orphanage children and homeless orphans is generally the same, the only difference is that you cannot talk to orphanage children about adoption unless you have a suitable home.

Player: "I can adopt you if you want."
Child: "Really? You. Do you have a place where I could live?"

    • If you do not have suitable housing:

Player: I have a house, but no room for you."
Child: "- Oh, okay. Thanks anyway, I'll think about it."
    or
Child: "Oh, okay. Thanks, but I need to think."

    • If you have suitable accommodation:

Player: Yes, I have a house in.
Child: "Oh, great! You. Are you sure? Do you really mind?"

If you don't have a home, the conversation ends. If you own a house, you can name its location or abandon the idea of adoption. If you choose not to adopt, their dialogue will be the same as when you don't have a home. After you name the location of the house where you intend to place your adopted child, they will respond:

Girls: "Hurray! Thank you, mom! I promise, I will be the best daughter for you! I have to pack my things and say goodbye to everyone. Meet me at home. Thank you! Very much!"
    or
Boys: "Really, really? Wow, thank you, Dad/Mom! I promise I'll behave! Let me pack my things and say goodbye to everyone. I'll see you at home. Thanks! Once again!"

If you are delayed, you may hear the child exclaim: "Can not wait!" If you talk to Constance after adopting a child, she will tell you: "Congratulations! I hope you have a wonderful life ahead of you."

If you want to adopt another child, you will not be able to choose the house in which you will live with him; another foster child will be placed in a house where children already live.

There is one adoption achievement available:

    • - Proud Parent

I bought a house in Riftan, installed an alchemy laboratory, but I can’t exchange it for a nursery? What to do? I have the Hearthfire version. And I don’t receive any letters!

In Riften, the alchemy lab cannot be replaced; the children's room to the left is independent of the alchemy lab.

I still can’t adopt, I came to the shelter and there was an aunt running around and not starting a dialogue!

    Completed the quest *goodbye tb*.

no, what kind of quest is this? how to get it

In the tavern, ask about the rumors - they will tell you to go to Windhelm to see little Aventus, talk to him, start the quest, then kill the old woman (you will understand from the quest), then finish the quest and go to bed, wake up kill those who kidnapped you or kill the prisoners and leave at home---AND THEN YOU SHOULD SOON RECEIVE A NOTE THAT SAYS THE SHELTER IS SELLING/ADOPTING CHILDREN.

Thank you very much, I've looked through so many sites and can't find anything about this anywhere!

It could be simpler. In Riften, the nursery is made instead of the enchanter's laboratory. After this, you can find 4 children without any shelter: Lucia in Whiterun, Alesan in Dawnstar, Sophie in Windhelm and Blaise on the Katla farm (near Solitude). Without mods, you can take any two, but they suggest themselves.

I killed everyone in the dark brotherhood and nothing came.

Very, very simple. To start adopting children in the Riften orphanage, you need to complete the quest Aretino (you can find him, according to rumors, in the Windhelm tavern). In his quest, he summons the Dark Brotherhood to kill an old woman in Riften. After you kill the old woman (It is advisable to do this when she is sleeping, and without witnesses), a messenger will soon bring you a letter from the Dark Brotherhood “We know!” Go to bed to get kidnapped. You will wake up in an Abandoned Hut, meet the head of the Dark Brotherhood, and you will have to choose. Kill the main one, and generally exterminate the Dark Brotherhood. Or kill the prisoners and join the Dark Brotherhood. And so and so, you can already adopt children in the shelter, because now the nanny is in charge there. (First you need to buy a house this spring). But in fact, I just adopted Sophie from Windhelm, and Lucia from Whiterun. Dressed and shod, as they say. But I completed Aretino’s quest and joined the Dark Brotherhood.

  • If you like to play Skyrim, then most likely you have more than once noticed people walking with their parents on the streets of cities. The topic of children is touched upon in many games, and each project offers its own perspective on this issue. However, it cannot be said that there is an impressive number of games where a child is given a lot of space. The same can be said about “Skyrim” - there are, of course, quite a lot of children here, but they are in the last roles, and if you wish, you can not pay attention to them at all. However, if you want your little one to always be with you, you will need to put in a little effort. But the most important thing is that it is still possible to have an offspring. But in Skyrim, you can easily figure it out.

The world of Skyrim and children

As you know, Skyrim is a role-playing game that takes place in a fictional fantasy world. It should be noted that this world is open, that is, no one leads you by the hand through the plot, you choose what to do, how to spend your time and how quickly to move towards completion. Considering the fact that there are plenty of things to do here, you shouldn’t rush through the game - it’s better to figure out how to have children in Skyrim, how to create your own farm, how to grow vegetables and take care of livestock, and so on. This game offers a huge number of options from which you have to choose what you like best. And, naturally, it is unlikely that anyone will miss the opportunity to have their own child if they have the opportunity. Skyrim invites you to become a caring parent, but to do this, you first need to learn how to have children in Skyrim. This cannot be done using the standard method, so you will have to look for workarounds.

    Special modification

Unfortunately, if you are trying to find out how to have children in Skyrim without installing any special add-ons, then you will be seriously disappointed. The original game does not provide this function, so you will not succeed. To have a child, you will need to download a special modification called Hearthfire, which means “hearth.” Everything is quite logical - if you want to start your own family, then naturally you will need a hearth for this. This is exactly what we will talk about next, because if you want to find out how to adopt a child in Skyrim, then you will need to get a living space.

    Buying a house

As long as you are a wandering hero who sleeps in the open air whenever and wherever necessary, then there is no point in you thinking about children. Why do you need to know about how to adopt a child in Skyrim if you only think about yourself? Therefore, if you want to create a full-fledged family with children, you will need to purchase real estate. It makes no difference whether it is a small house or a real palace - your children will be happy in any home. Therefore, if you do not want to spend too much money on buying a home, you can choose an inexpensive house in which you will continue to live. As soon as you have a home and the necessary modification is installed on the game client, you can go in search of a child that you like. As stated earlier, you will not be able to have children in the standard way. Therefore, you have to learn about how to adopt a child in Skyrim. After all, this is the only existing method of getting children.

    Adoption of children

So, you have your own home, so if you find a new family member, you'll have somewhere to take them in the dangerous world called Skyrim. You also have the children mod installed, so now when you talk to a child you have a chance to get a new line with which you can invite him to live with you. For some children, this replica can be opened quite quickly, for others the process is a little more difficult and longer. But with the right desire, it’s easy to adopt anyone. This is the process of getting a child directly, however there is another way that is much similar to this. In children's play, this is something incomprehensible to an adult. Therefore, if you do not want to communicate with small children, you have an alternative - to persuade an adult.

Get married to have a baby

In the game "Skyrim", the mod for adopting children affects not only conversations with them, but also the lines that you can choose when communicating with adults. This way you can get the baby in a roundabout way. Go in search of a man or a woman (depending on what gender you have chosen for your character). Your future life partner must have a child - otherwise there is no point in starting courtship. If you have a baby, then you can begin the difficult process. Most often, in order to please a character, you need to give him expensive gifts, so don’t skimp on various jewelry, beads, earrings and rings. Remember, you've already spent a good amount of money on buying the house, so don't skimp now. As a result, you will discover a replica that invites your partner to marry you or marry you. All that remains is to go to the nearest church and discuss the terms of the wedding. After this, a day of play time should pass, after which your husband or wife will move into your house and take the child with them. Naturally, this point must be discussed in advance, because by default your new family may stay at home, and this will not be very convenient. However, don't think that more children in Skyrim is better. In fact, these are certain concerns. You will need to entertain them, give them gifts, but at the same time you will have the opportunity to play with them or let them go out into the yard with other kids. You can also force your child to contribute to the family, for example, cleaning the house.

    Quantity limit

Who are the flowers of life? That's right, children. Skyrim also invites you to have your own flower garden, but at the same time sets very strict restrictions. To prevent gamers from creating a real home for themselves, you cannot adopt more than two kids with one character. This means that you are completely limited in this aspect. But don't be upset, because children don't really have much influence on the game itself, so two is enough for you to have fun.

    How do children develop?

It has already been said that in Skyrim children are not given much attention. Therefore, if you decide to have a child, you should not expect any miracles, deep thoughtfulness and interactivity. You should immediately understand that children here do not grow up, they remain forever as a child, so there is no need to harbor empty illusions - you will not be able to raise your heir, who will take your place after your death.

    Behavior of children during battle

Naturally, every parent is obliged to protect their children. Therefore, it is necessary to try to avoid situations in which your child will be in close proximity to danger. But there is no need to worry too much, since there are two aspects to the game that will prevent tragedy. Children are programmed to behave in a special way when danger is nearby. They immediately run away to their home, which means you don’t have to fight a strong opponent and at the same time think about how to protect the child as well. This is a great relief, but the next aspect brings even more peace.

    Immortality of children

In fact, there is no point in protecting the child from danger, because this area of the game does not even smell of realism. The fact is that a child in Skyrim does not take damage. Accordingly, he cannot die, which means that there is no need to protect him. Firstly, he himself will run for cover, and secondly, even if he doesn’t have time to do this, he still won’t be able to die. Thus, children are a pleasant addition to the world of Skyrim. They will brighten up your experience. Receiving them is as exciting as communicating with them. They do not create unnecessary trouble, but at the same time they do not bring any benefit. That is, it is worth recognizing that children are something that every Skyrim lover can do without. But if you have a desire to acquire them, then it will not be so difficult and will not bring you any discomfort at all in the future. Therefore, parenthood in this game is very common among fans of the series, since such an opportunity was not implemented in previous versions of the game. Children are a great way to take your mind off tough battles and confusing quests.

How to Adopt a Child in Skyrim – Children for Adoption

All the girls and all the boys in Skyrim look like identical twins, differing only in their hairstyles and the color of their clothes. The race of a child can only be determined by his parents. Judging by the dialogue, child adoption is unpopular in the game, although this could clarify a lot.
