How to play pirates storm the skies. Pirates: Sky Storm - flying ships from Allods Team. Interesting modes designed for team play

And they will hit the sky with their finger. Because, although this is also an online shooter about airship battles, these games have nothing else in common. If we compare “Pirates” with another game, then the closest analogue will be, oddly enough, Overwatch.

To get an idea of what normal combat looks like in Pirates, just imagine the characters from Overwatch moving onto class-appropriate airships. The Zorkiy sniper galleon hides in an inconspicuous corner between the rocks and shoots the enemy from a great distance - just like the Widow. The support clipper "Victoria" follows the ally's ship, continuously repairing it - why not an Angel? "Pirates" even has its own Tornbjorn - the Hammerhead engineering frigate, which can install defensive turrets.

There are currently 48 ships in the game. Some - well-armored, clumsy, but with a huge supply of health and powerful weapons - are good for beginners to play: the cost of a mistake is not so high and you won’t be knocked down with a single shot. There are boats with average characteristics that are suitable for those who value balance. And for the aces - small sailing ships, the main feature of which is to get almost close to the enemy ship, fire a salvo that will blow away half the side, and quickly escape. But if you don’t have time to maneuver, you’ll most likely pay with your life.

But the similarities with Overwatch don't end with the ship classes alone. The game has very compact maps and short battles: a maximum of 15 minutes for each battle. If your ship gets shot at, it will be out of the fight for a few seconds, and then it will take you another 10-20 seconds to get to the scene of the fight. Even the modes are similar: in addition to the standard ones, Overwatch has truck escort, and Pirates has caravan guarding (or robbery).

Well, and probably the most important thing, which finally takes “Pirates” out of the ranks of military shooters on serious grounds, is that there are no complex physics here. An inexperienced player may not notice this, but veterans of battles in WoT and similar games will immediately notice that cannonballs fired from the side of your ship fly in a straight line, and not in an arc. There are no calculations of penetration coefficients in the forehead and lower armor plate, and you do not need to know anything about hull armor - it is enough to understand that you are covered by an energy shield on each side, and it is destroyed when they shoot at you.

The whole fight is built on three buttons: if you fire on the left side, don’t be open and turn right, simultaneously firing torpedoes from the bow guns. The enemy is also unlikely to hang indifferently in the air - damaged energy shields must be removed from fire in time, so a duel between two airships resembles a waltz: you spin in three planes, guessing each other’s movements and trying your best to keep up with the rhythm of reloading guns

But duels are a rather rare phenomenon in a team shooter: it is much more interesting to play, taking advantage of all the advantages of your allies and using their help. Therefore, the most important thing for someone who wants to conquer the top and enter the list of the best pirates is to study the abilities of each ship and remember who works best in conjunction with whom. And now it’s time to finally say that in fact “Pirates” is far from the simplest game. When you have completed the first ten battles and it begins to seem to you that you have more or less figured out what to expect from each sailing ship, your opponents will begin to present surprises.

The fact is that each ship has its own unique tricks available, and not all of them are open from the very beginning: to access the most interesting ones you will have to fly a lot and loot gold. At the same time, the appearance of the ship does not reflect in any way that it, for example, can suddenly teleport halfway across the map or hang protective force screens, avoiding certain death. The same engineer, instead of turrets, can produce repair probes - and this is a completely different role in the team.

At the same time, in the Pirates universe there are no harmless ships - even a support ship can cause damage and make frags. In addition, the system takes into account all your actions that led to the victory of the team, and therefore the top best every now and then are not the brightest fighters, but hard-working engineers who did nothing but repair their allies.

You can play “Pirates” for free; in the game store for real money you can currently only buy a premium account, which gives more experience and gold for battles. Additional damage and protection are not sold for money, there are no premium cartridges for weapons in the store either - everything is fair.

In its current form, “Pirates” is a fast, fun and not demanding of your time or the power of your computer, an online team shooter in which you can take the helm of a flying ship and show everyone who the main pirate is. But this is only the first stage in the development of the game. Now the pirates are mastering the game, finding friends, uniting in military brotherhoods and accumulating resources that they will very soon need to build their own forts. And then these forts can be captured - and in “Pirates” a political game will begin at the level of large MMOs: with the conclusion of alliances and declarations of war, sending spies, betrayal and help. If you want to come to this war fully armed - with a full hold of piastres and a team of good friends - you need to start playing as soon as possible.

"Pirates: Storm the Sky", previously announced under the title "Pirates. Allods Online" is a new game from Allods Team, the events of which unfold in the universe of the MMORPG of the same name.

But instead of the usual running around the map and leveling up heroes, here the player is invited to take the helm of huge flying ships and fight the enemy in the air, plunging into a series of short dynamic fights.

Steampunk, so beloved by many, is fully diluted with magical elements, and the ships look truly interesting.

At the same time, the player is not forced to decide on the choice of faction forever. Buy as many ships from each side as you like and change sides of the conflict an infinite number of times.

Three types of ships, dozens of modifications

  • Light and nimble snipers.
  • Medium-weight station wagons.
  • Heavy, unwieldy dreadnoughts.

Several dozen ships, varying in cost, appearance and characteristics, are gradually revealed to the player as the level increases.

Each ship is improved many times over with more powerful guns and stronger armor, decorative elements, and most importantly, all sorts of modules that add superpowers.

  • Go invisible for a while.
  • Suddenly appear behind the enemy.
  • Use homing missiles.
  • Restore your health a little.

Captains also matter - they are pumped up, develop talents and know how to transfer from ship to ship.

Interesting modes designed for team play

Warships fight alone against everyone or as a team against a team in fast, action-packed 5v5 duels.

Besides:

  1. Capturing strategic points.
  2. Caravan robbery.
  3. Theft of gold with delivery to the base.

The game has several significant advantages, including a universe beloved by millions of fans, an interesting, unconventional setting and a pleasant, high-quality picture.

If the developers manage not to spoil the balance with donations, the project could become one of the brightest new products of 2016.

Pirates. Storm the skies - dynamic battles on flying ships, 3D movement in space, team play.

The last closed beta testing of the game has ended Pirates. Storming the skies or "Pirates: Allods Online" in the old way. This atypical shooter with a simple storyline and colorful locations is eagerly awaited by all Allods fans. The opening of the game server awaits users next year, but for now all that remains is to analyze all the advantages and disadvantages of “Pirates”.

In the center of events are deserters, tired of the endless war between two factions known to all fans of Allods - the Empire and the League. Taking their aircraft with them, they set off to surf the airspace in search of eternal glory and gold. To this day, they fight high above the earth, taking gold from traders driven by fair winds and participating in large-scale battles.

Peculiarities

Pirates. Storming the skies is a great opportunity to try yourself as a strategist managing an entire ship.

The most important feature of “Pirates. Storming the Heavens" is the complete dependence of the results of battles on the skill of the ship's captain. The developers have shown extreme ingenuity, so that each ship can be improved: 7 different types of ship equipment can be improved. The aircraft itself can have three types of hull: light, medium and heavy.

And the most interesting thing, perhaps, is the presence of seven useful modules that can be installed in order to make your ship unique and technically advanced. Among the modules there is fog, which allows you to hide the ship from prying eyes, acceleration, acceleration, and so on.

In addition, beam throwers can be installed on each ship. All this means that success in battle is the player’s personal merit, based on his ability to combine all the elements of the ship’s equipment, because at the same time he can use only three of the proposed modules.

Available modes

Take the helm of your own ship and conquer the airspace in the game Pirates. Storming the skies.

When creating this session game, the developers focused on the confrontation between players, so the PvP component of the game is well thought out and very diverse.

Initially, it was announced that there would be four modes in the game, but after the first CBT, the developers introduced a fifth. We'll talk about them further.

Capturing points in the game mode "capture points"

The battle format is 10x10. The action takes place over one of the local villages, the inhabitants of which have a useful resource. The goal of pirates is to subjugate the territory in order to take possession of the resources available on it.

To do this, players on each team must capture beacons that bring points to the team. The first team to score the required number of points wins.

Caravans in the "escort" game mode

Accumulate experience and resources to purchase any ship and go on an exciting journey.

You can often find foreign traders in the airspace moving through portals. But since pirates do not sleep, merchants are forced to hire defenders from among them.

Players are divided into two teams of 10 participants. The task of one team is to protect the merchant ship, and the second is to attack.

Dead Man's Chest in Capture the Flag game mode

In this module, players will need to capture chests of gold and deliver them to a certain location.

This is quite difficult because the map is very confusing and chests can be knocked out by the enemy. The battle takes place in a 10x10 format.

Dreadnoughts in the "escort" game mode

Pirates. Sky Assault is a session MMORPG, so every user can enjoy the gameplay

Imagine that you are tasked with preventing the Titanic from colliding with an iceberg. Only the Titanic in this mode is a well-equipped and well-protected dreadnought, which is capable of smashing a light aircraft to smithereens with one blow.

And there are two such dreadnoughts. Each of them is guarded by a team of 10 people, and the task of each team, accordingly, is to destroy the dreadnought of the other team.

Battle in team play mode

The name of this battle remains a mystery for now. It is known that the goal of each team will be to destroy as many enemy vessels as possible.

The main feature of the battle is the opportunity to get a tasty bonus for the entire team right on the battlefield, because they are literally scattered in the air.

Why it's worth playing

  1. The endless airspace will not leave anyone indifferent
  2. “Pirates. Allods Online" is a great opportunity to try yourself as a strategist managing an entire ship
  3. Players have great freedom in choosing equipment for their ship, which allows them to make their ships truly unique and of high quality

There was little information about “” until December 17, when open testing began. It was assumed that the game would be an addition to the “” universe, but in a different genre, designed not only to increase the audience, but to prove the developers’ ability to adapt to the modern world. Fans wondered how much of the project would remain from “”, and how much it would be possible to preserve the unique atmosphere of the original. Let’s reveal a secret right away: there are no ray guns here, but there are weapons similar to them. Let's figure out what else the creators have prepared for us.

The gameplay does not stray far from the canons of online games. In "" there are several battle modes on different maps, each of which involves two teams of seven people. Team battles and point capture, typical for this genre, are diluted with interesting variations in the form of treasure hunting or escorting caravans. There are no completely non-standard battles yet, but we must give credit to the developers: they often add new content.

The aeronautics themselves are of greatest interest. At the time of open testing, 47 different ships have been added. They are armed with side and bow guns, and also have three slots for activated modules. Airships can be improved by researching and installing new equipment on them. There are currently four ranks of ships, and to get a new one you need to thoroughly study the previous one. In the game, the forces are divided into two factions with approximately the same amount of available equipment. The visual difference between ships of different sides is reduced to a minimum - it is not clear why this was done at all, since both have classes with similar tasks.

It will be difficult for a beginner to understand all the variety of ships, and the initial tutorial is too stingy with information and only teaches the basics of control. To simplify things, airships can be divided into several basic types.

Clipper ships are considered the most nimble, and due to their maneuverability they have a strong influence on the outcome of fights. Their weak hull strength makes them vulnerable to any type of weapon, so not everyone can use them effectively. Clippers are equipped with slow but powerful torpedoes that cause massive damage if they hit their target. There are also support clippers that can give bonuses to the team or weaken the enemy.

Light corvettes, which carry special mines on board that cause damage over a large area, have become slightly less maneuverable. There are also support corvettes that restore the strength of an ally's hulls or shields.

Engineering frigates can be called universal, as they can install special mechanisms that operate independently. These can be turrets or mini-bots that heal the team and cripple the enemy.

For beginners, a series of medium cruisers with homing projectiles is recommended. Unfortunately, this is their only bonus, and the ships themselves are quite weak in characteristics compared to the others. Medium assault cruisers, capable of inflicting significant damage and getting out of the thick of things in time, became the main attacking force on the battlefield.

The role of defenders is played by all kinds of galleons and battleships, huge and clumsy. Low maneuverability is compensated by either good protection or powerful weapons - depending on the type of vessel. To destroy a heavy battleship, you have to concentrate the power of an entire team, and sniper galleons adhere to the principle of “one shot - immediately dead.”

After the start of open testing, a special heavy battleship appeared in “”, capable of controlling the course of the battle from afar, changing the viewing mode to strategic. Unfortunately, it was not possible to open it, so we envy the lucky ones who got to it first.

Each player represents a captain and can choose an icon, frame, and other decorations that suit his mood. Captain talents are unlocked after completing a series of tasks and can improve the characteristics of some weapons, which adds individuality.

For participating in battles, you can receive treasure maps as a reward, with the help of which expeditions are assembled to obtain gold, experience, premium currency and various decorations for the ship. The captains are driven into strict design boundaries, and it will not be possible to significantly change the appearance of the airships. You can choose to change the color of the ship's hull, choose a catchy flag, or install sails of a different color and design. Decorations aren't just available for premium currency, but special achievements will give die-hard players some rare skin options.

In the very first days of the servers' operation, players could unite into pirate brotherhoods - an analogue of guilds. A small bonus in the form of adding the name of the brotherhood to the nickname will cost two million gold, and not everyone can afford this. In the future, the developers promise a new mode, participation in which will bring special resources for construction. They offer to build outposts that will help the brotherhoods earn more money. There will also be modes where you will have to defend your own or attack other people's outposts. Single players will be able to hunt for guild caravans transporting resources for construction, as well as participate as a mercenary in the sieges of these forts. Unfortunately, this is still in the plans, and at the moment there are no game bonuses from joining the brotherhood yet.

As with other games of this genre, there is a strong dependence on the team. No matter how good a captain you are, it will be impossible to defeat the enemy team alone. Therefore, it is highly recommended to find a team as soon as possible and fly out with at least two or three, which will increase the chances of winning several times.

Many testers complained about poor optimization, although at above-medium settings the frame rate per second remained above 30 even in the hottest battles on a fairly old computer. Also encouraging are the almost daily hotfixes that change the balance and add new content. It feels like a lot of effort and time is spent on testing, and the developers take a responsible approach to their work.
