How to install skins in World of Tanks?
World of Tanks has gathered around itself a huge number of modifications that do not change the game, but make it much easier. One of these is skins. This is the name of the files that change the appearance of tanks. So, for example, from the American Chaffee you can make a police tank with good speed and great visibility, and paint the long Soviet T-28 in the colors of the rescue service.
But it is unlikely that the skins would have deserved the attention of many players if they did not have zones for penetrating tanks. In fact, the tank remains the same in appearance, even logos, inscriptions and camouflage are displayed, but zones (with color, strokes, images) are applied on top of them, once in which, you can break through the tank’s armor and damage the module (or concuss one of the crew members) .
How to install skins through the installer
How to install skins for certain tanks
This was an example of installing a pack of skins. Let's say that the developer of this pack has not yet managed to add skins for new tanks that have just appeared in the game, but other people have already made them. Then:
Remember that mods need to be constantly updated for each new version World of Tanks. Installing skins for 0.8.7 to 0.9.1 will not work, although from 0.9.0 to 0.9.1 it is quite possible. Therefore, specify for which update of the game you are downloading the skins, but rather use the pack from the official forum - it is time-tested and constantly adapts to new versions of WoT.
In the World of Tank installation"skins" refers to modifications and other improvements to the client. Despite the fact that the replacement of "skins" of equipment is not prohibited by the official administration of the game, remember that when downloading content (archive) on the Internet, you may stumble upon viruses that, without your knowledge, will not only harm your computer, but can also steal your account or change the game so that later you will be banned, and it will be very difficult to prove that it is not your fault.
Site selection
The first thing a player who wants to know how to install "skins" on World of Tanks will need is to download the archive with the necessary modification. It can be either a look for one machine, or a whole archive with many different add-ons, which also need to be checked for legitimacy of use. Remember that the game does not allow modifications that automate the player's actions or make it easier to find the enemy.
The second important point is the choice of the download source. How to install "skins" on World of Tanks if they don't work? Any skin should be updated with every major game update, so the download site should be up to date. Also, it should not have "garbage" advertising, as in many yellow newspapers. Such sites make money by advertising WoT itself.
Folder
After downloading the archive, you need to know how to install "skins" on World of Tanks. To do this, first go to the root folder of the game. There you need to create a \res_mods\vehicles directory. Directly into it and you need to unpack the downloaded archives.
However, sometimes a situation arises in which the mod author has packed the archive incorrectly. Then remember that you also need a subfolder for each individual country. For example, \russian or \british. And already there to add specific skins. Now you know where to install "skins" for World of Tanks. If you are interested in other games from Wargaming, then they have a similar structure, but so far the possibility of using skins on vehicles has not been implemented.
Harm or benefit
Even knowing how to install "skins" on World of Tanks, many players doubt whether it is worth it. Indeed, in this situation there is a huge minus - installed skin visible only to you. That is, by decorating the car in the right colors, you will understand that only you see all this "beauty", but not allies or enemies. Then what's the point if you can't stand out?
However, installing skins is a great help for beginners who are not well versed in the military vehicles in the game. For them, there is an opportunity to download special skins that will show the player the strengths and weaknesses of the equipment, more precisely, their armor, the location of the ammo rack and the gas tank. This will help not only to see the vulnerabilities of your car and expose the strongest areas of coverage for shots, but also to aim when shooting not just like that, but at specific points on the enemy car.
However, if you are primarily interested in entertainment, and not in increasing the level of the game and the percentage of wins, then you can safely install any images and skins on your own tank. Remember, since this is just a visual component, even if you paint the car in all the colors of the rainbow, this will not affect its camouflage or visibility in any terrain.
