Year of issue: 2014
Genre: Action (Shooter) / 3D / 1st Person
Developer: Sledgehammer Games
publishing house: Activision

The future knows no mercy. On the ruins of the old world, which survived the collapse of the usual geopolitical and military structures, arose new strength is a private military company whose leadership wants to restore hope for a decent life to humanity. Technique against anarchy, iron order against chaos. Welcome to the year 2054, in which there is a war.

call of duty: Advanced Warfare was developed over three years, taking into account all the possibilities gaming systems new generation. The updated approach to the creation of the game will allow you to apply new tactics. Advanced military technology and a unique exoskeleton will help you survive where an ordinary soldier cannot last even five minutes! In addition, you will find an exciting story and new characters, the role of which was played by Oscar winner Kevin Spacey.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare is supported on major Windows operating systems, which include Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. Others OS developers on this moment are not supported and will not receive support.

The priority and primary graphics API for Call of Duty Advanced Warfare is DirectX11.

Game engine

The game engine for Call of Duty Advanced Warfare is a product of in-house development by Sledgehammer Games. There is practically no information on the network about the structure and development of this engine. Most likely the engine is further development product lines for games based on Sledgehammer Games' own intellectual property. The engine is aimed at use in consoles and PC.

According to the developers, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was the first game since the second part, which will switch to new engine. In it, as the developers explain, there are a few lines of code left from the old one, but they are negligible, and otherwise, according to the developers, the engine was written from scratch. Detailed information, apart from our own visual observations, we have not been able to find.

Advanced game settings

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare has two graphic menu items in its arsenal - main and additional. There are no basic graphics settings in the game.

Below we have provided screenshots of the game at various graphics settings, where our readers can see the difference between the minimum, medium and maximum graphics quality settings.

The difference between graphics settings is quite debatable - not everywhere the maximum means quality...

Comparison of FullHD and 4K

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare looks much better in 4K than in HD.

The SSAA + SMAA anti-aliasing application mode has the most beneficial effect on quality, since in this case the picture becomes sharper and surface irregularities are also removed.

Well, what can I say, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare is somewhat not drawn to a new generation project, although it has a rather beautiful picture. This suggests both a not quite advanced graphic component (compared to other modern projects), and adaptation to the generation of the previous generation of consoles, which also contributed in terms of "optimization". And the textures in the game do not pull on the project of the AAA class of 2014.

The developers also assured that the game has a completely new engine, but, as we can see, its picture is quite similar to the games of the previous generation (although the color scheme has been significantly improved), and a complete restart of the game when applying graphic settings only confirms these arguments.

But still, let's not judge strictly, because Call of Duty is a series of shooters that comes out once a year and stands out for both more outstanding gameplay and more advanced graphics, compared to other similar projects of the genre, which can be counted on the fingers. So essentially this is autumn holiday FPS lovers.

GPU test

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality by MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. The average and minimum FPS were taken as the performance indicator. Below is a video of the test segment:

Our video cards were tested at resolutions of 1920x1080, 2560x1600 and 3840x2160 at the maximum graphics quality settings allowed by Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. SLI works partially with the new drivers, and AMD CrossFireX is currently not supported. Tests were performed with and without SSAA activation.

Testing at 1920x1080 resolution

Testing at maximum quality settings 1920x1080 no SSAA

With these settings

Testing at maximum quality settings 1920x1080 SSAA 4X

With these settingsacceptable FPS showed graphics cards like Radeon R9 270 or GeForce GTX 750 Ti. The optimal solution would begraphics cards like Radeon HD 7870 or GeForce GTX 670.

Testing at 2560x1600 resolution

Testing at maximum quality settings 2560x1600 no SSAA

With these settingsAn acceptable FPS was shown by video cards of the level Radeon R7 260X or GeForce GTX 750 Ti.

Testing at maximum quality settings 2560x1600 SSAA 4X

With these settingsAn acceptable FPS was shown by video cards of the Radeon R9 290 or GeForce GTX 780 level. The optimal solution would bevideo cards like Radeon R9 290X or GeForce GTX 970.

Testing at 3840x2160 resolution

Testing at maximum quality settings 3840x2560 no SSAA

With these settingsan acceptable FPS was shown by video cards of the Radeon R9 270 or GeForce GTX 760 level. The optimal solution would be video cards of the Radeon K9 285 or GeForce GTX 760 level.

Testing at maximum quality settings 3840x2560 SSAA 2X

With these settingsAn acceptable FPS was shown by video cards of the Radeon R9 290 or GeForce GTX 780 level. The optimal solution would be video cards of the Radeon K9 290X or GeForce GTX 970 level.

Testing of the video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the program MSI Afterburner. The indicator was taken on the results on top video cards from AMD and NVIDIA at resolutions 1920x1080 and 2560x1600 with different anti-aliasing settings.

Testing at maximum memory GPU quality settings

The recommended amount of video memory usage for a resolution of 1920x1080 will be 3076 MB of video memory, for a resolution of 2560x1600 - 4096 MB of video memory and for a resolution of 3840x2160 about 4096 MB of video memory. The memory test with SSAA was not taken, as you yourself understand that this is pointless ...

CPU test

We tested processor dependence on 16 models of basic configurations that are relevant today. The test was carried out in those places where the value of the video card for the game is minimal and its load was less than 99%, this time at a resolution of 1920x1080 with maximum graphics quality settings.

Testing at maximum quality settings 1920x1080 AMD

Testing at maximum quality settings 1920x1080 NVIDIA

The CPU performance in the game is sufficient, but when using NVIDIA cards it is much higher.

What to do if bad graphics in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare?

04/06/2015

First of all, it's worth finding out that the graphics in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare are bad in and of themselves. Despite the total gluttony of PC resources, the game produces a very modest picture. It looks decent only on the "extra" settings and nothing else. The developers did not compress the textures and did not engage in high-quality optimization of the game.

What you can try to do if you have bad graphics in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - there are no 100% effective tips at all, but something from the list below can help you.

So, turn off shadow caching in the settings. Try running the optimized graphics settings. Extra settings mean that you immediately lost 2 gigabytes of video card memory, so there simply won’t be any memory left for everything else. So rationally distribute the load, based on the power of your video card.

Make sure you have the latest video card drivers. Make sure it's installed latest version Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Try increasing the priority of the game in the task manager.

4. Brakes in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
In case of brakes in the game on good hardware, it is recommended to update the video card and sound drivers. If the mouse is too sensitive, then change the frequency of the computer mouse to 125 Hz. The game freezes after a pause - click Atl + Tab, turn off the game and restart the computer. If the cutscenes are slowing down in the game, set the graphics settings to " windowed mode(without Borders)".

5. How to enable NVIDIA SLI in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare?
If you have two graphics cards and want to use NVIDIA SLI technology, then open Nvidia Inspector and create a new profile. Activate AFR2 mode and set the number of GPUs to 2.

6. How to run Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare with 4 GB of RAM?
The answer is very simple - download a special launcher and unpack it into the game folder, replacing the files. Don't forget to make a backup of the replaced files. This tablet was found on the Internet and works fine with licensed version. You can download it from my blog.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was released on November 4, 2014. The launch of Advanced Warfare was the largest entertainment industry launch of 2014 and one of the largest in history. Thus, starting with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare the series sets records and holds the bar of high sales. Advanced Warfare is a new branch in the CoD universe. Like Black Ops 2 and Ghosts, Advanced Warfare sends us into the future - 2054. Apparently, Activision finally decided to bet on a futuristic setting. And no wonder: the future is stuffed to capacity with all sorts of super-techniques, exoskeletons and outlandish weapons, and, therefore, cinematic scenes, which contain all the charm of CoD, should be even more “explosive” and stylish than before.

The history of the game is not related to previous games in the series and we will be given a new American soldier and new history heroic confrontation. The place of action is the earth, the time is 2054. New technological progress could not bypass the main amusement of mankind - war. With new technologies, the process of destroying their own kind has become even more effective and spectacular. The story is again told from the point of view of a simple American soldier, Mitchell, who heroically fights for democracy in all corners of an undemocratic world.

And this time, Korea did not resist the onslaught of democracy. The geopolitical alignment and threats have remained roughly the same (the Americans are fighting the North Korean army on the streets of Seoul and keeping Iraq under direct control), but the face of the war has changed significantly. Soldiers are equipped with exoskeletons and personal drones, flocks of drones fly like locusts over the streets, distant descendants of the V-22 Osprey dominate the sky, and universal walking-tracked tanks with railguns and missiles drive around the earth.

The conflict flares up over the terrorist organization KVA, which attacks nuclear power plants in the US and Europe with unclear targets and is controlled by a Chechen with an Arab appearance and a Georgian name, Iosif Chkheidze. The fight against KVA is taken over by Atlas, led by director Jonathan Irons (appearance and voice of Kevin Spacey). From a predominantly military-industrial company, Atlas is rapidly becoming the largest private military company with its own military - and is becoming a problem even for the United States. In today's coordinate systems, it's as if Lockheed Martin has teamed up with Academi and armed with ExxonMobil's ambitions.

The struggle for peace around the world is traditionally distinguished by its wide geography (South Korea, Greece, Bulgaria, Iraq, Nigeria, USA, Antarctica) and international character (there is a Russian female special forces officer Ilona among partners), and any deeds are done at the last second and are accompanied by doomsday: everything around constantly explodes and collapses. The partners do not leave you alone for a second (“Mitchell, there”, “Mitchell, here”, “Mitchell, then”, “Mitchell, behold”), and there is almost no space for improvisation: the script is forced to play like clockwork, and immediately punished by death if you make a mistake even for a fraction of a second in an interactive cut-scene. In general, the plot and gameplay is fully consistent with the games Call Series of duty.

Graphics in the game

The game looks like Call of Duty usually looks, it still feels like continuity with the technology of 2003, on which the very first part was made. According to the developers for Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, the game engine was written from scratch, but such a statement by the developers can be questioned. Most likely, the engine is a further development of a product line for games based on Sledgehammer Games' own intellectual property. The engine is aimed at use in consoles and PC. In videos, for example, the graphics look much better, but after them the weakness of the game picture is felt even more. Despite some visual flaws, Sledgehammer Games managed to make significant improvements to the game engine compared to previous parts game, now instead of farting shots and dirt, awkward textures, there are real shooting sounds and decent graphics.

From the first minutes you understand that you are in a big-budget movie. Locations amaze with variety, and most importantly, drawing. Call of Duty Advanced Warfare has two graphic menu items in its arsenal - main and additional. There are no basic graphics settings in the game. So, the textures will already have four settings: general quality, two types of resolution and anisotropic filtering. Shadow settings are somewhat more modest: on. / off and overall quality. Depth of field (DOF), SSAO global illumination, anti-aliasing, supersampling, various DirectX 11 effects have not gone anywhere. There will even be gunshot marks and improved dynamic lighting. Admittedly, the visual range is impressive. The SSAA + SMAA anti-aliasing application mode has the most beneficial effect on quality, since in this case the picture becomes sharper and surface irregularities are also removed.

Testing

Power-saving CPU technologies are disabled in all tests. Video card performance testing was carried out in a closed case of the system unit on a system with the following configuration:

Test configuration

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K -4.5 GHz

    MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Z97-DELUXE

    MEMORY: 12GB (4x 4096MB) DDR3 Corsair

    HDD:Samsung 830 series 256GB SSD

    OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 8.1 x64

The performance of a video card is determined by the number of fps (frames per second) that it can produce in a particular application at certain settings. The performance of the video card in gaming applications is affected by the software installed on the PC, the version of the video driver, and the configuration of the computer.

Video cards for PC

For a more visual comparison of video cards for PC, used as a test game application, ran at 1920 x 1080 (Full HD), 2560 x 1440 (WQHD), and 3840x2160 (Ultra HD). The Fraps 3.5.9 utility was used as a performance measurement tool. The game measured the minimum and average FPS values. VSync was disabled during testing. The graphics settings in the game have been set to the maximum Extra level. Complex shading - HBAO +, Final anti-aliasing - 2xMSAA, Anisotropic filtering - high.
