Dirt rally can be played together. What to play together? Buy Dirt Rally at a discount

Today I would like to continue the topic of racing with the regime split screen and talk about another game worthy of the attention of every lover of the racing genre - Dirt Showdown. In short, this is a classic, very spectacular arcade racing game that combines several different racing and stunt disciplines: from rallycross to destructive arena derbies. Agree, this is not at all like the previous games in the Dirt series.

What is special about this Dirt Showdown unlike previous parts series?

Jumps, crashes, roaring engines, drifting, dazzling fireworks - all this fully reflects the name of the game: maximum entertainment, show atmosphere and fun. The most important difference from previous Dirt is the complete absence of rules. It doesn't matter which way you win the race: crash, ram and cut your rivals. Moreover, you will also be rewarded with points for this, as the audience really likes it.
As soon as you start the race, it will immediately become clear - Dirt is a real arcade game. The complete absence of a speedometer on the screen, comfortable control and, since the car easily enters a skid, on some tracks you don’t even have to take off the gas or brake. Not only the previous parts of Dirt, but also other arcade races, for example, most of the NFS released in recent years, cannot boast of such adequate control.

Gameplay

There are 3 classes of cars available in the game: Hoonigan (cars for stunt modes), Demolition (cars for derby and destruction races) and Race (cars for rallycross). There are also 10 types of races: 3 for racing cars, 4 for derbies and 3 for stunts. Dirt Showdown has something for everyone. Are you a fan of Flatout? Love crashes and destruction? The following modes are at your disposal:

Love stunts and drift? For you, too, there is what you need:

Well, for lovers of the classics, there are off-road races or along city tracks. There is nothing unusual here: standard races, time trials and knockouts. Crash into rivals, burn rubber, jump on trampolines in the light of fireworks - in general, put on a show, getting a lot of fun and pleasure.

With the gameplay, in principle, figured out. Doesn't sound bad, does it? But what about graphics and sound? Let's get a look.

Graphics and sound

It's all here highest level, even considering that the game is 2012. It is developed on Codemasters own engine - EGO 2.0. Well-designed weather conditions, high-quality car damage (details fly off to the right and left), physics, various effects, and so on - in general, your eyes will enjoy. Moreover, owners of weak PCs will also be able to appreciate good graphics, because everything is fine with optimization.

As for the sound, everything is also on the level. The soundtracks should be noted separately, as music lovers will definitely replenish their playlists after the game. Here you have Dubstep, and Hip-Hop, and electronics - all this clearly fits into the atmosphere of the game.

Multiplayer

With multiplayer, of course, Dirt Showdown has no problems, because Dirt has always been famous for it. It contains all the single player modes and 3 additional ones (capture the flag, hold the flag and “tags”). Although the ability to select a route or mode manually is missing. Everything happens by voting, you will have to choose what the great random will offer.

Well, the most important thing for us is that the game has a full-fledged Split Screen. It supports only 2 players, there are 6 game modes to choose from, instead of 8 (as in single player). But there is one great feature - you can play both separately (every man for himself), and in a team. If everything is clear with the first, since this is a classic mode for most races, then with command mode everything is much more interesting. You and your partner will have to fight against bots united in teams, and their teams will have 3 players each, and yours will consist of two. For each occupied place, the player will be given a certain number of points, for example, 10 points for the first place, and 2 points for the last. The team that gets the most points in total wins - it's simple. This mode has a very cool use: for example, when the person you are going to play with has not played racing before and does not have enough skill to play with you on equal terms. Playing in a team, it is enough for him to take even the penultimate place in order to win, provided, of course, if you take first. And after learning a little and getting used to the controls, you can also switch to the “against each other” mode, where there will be all the same destructive races and derbies, just cut or crash into your friend’s car, who is sitting next to you, believe me, it’s much more fun than crashing into the car of a bot or an unknown player online.

Outcome

Dirt Showdown has no pronounced downsides. As a singleplayer game, it's just fine, but if you have a couple of gamepads and are looking for a fun racing game that you can play together on the same screen, this is what you need. Of course, this is not Blur, if we talk about simple races, but due to the derby modes, the game takes on its own zest - Dirt Showdown will definitely appeal to Flatout fans.

It is also worth noting the lack of Russian localization in the game. Yes, of course, there are various custom mods and patches, but by purchasing and installing it on Steam, only English will be available.
The game is definitely worth the money - $10. Moreover, it very often participates in Steam sales and you can buy it at a discount of up to 80%. And by the way, now such works.

I welcome you to Chronicles, dear friends! On this page I will tell you about a computer rally car simulator - Dirt Rally. Yes, it will be about computer games, but calling Dirt Rally a game does not turn my tongue. This is a real extreme car driving simulator.

In fact, from Dirt Rally you can also make children's rides, like another representative of the same game series. Difficulty settings are very flexible - you can turn on a whole range of "assistants": from anti-lock braking system and automatic transmission to stabilization and steering.

But ... In this case, I recommend to ignore the rally races and take on something more friendly. AND Dirt Rally leave it to the hardcore. AT rally You should only play on the highest difficulty setting. Otherwise, you will not feel even a hundredth of the opportunities and features that this representative of computer games provides you.

So, excuse me, arcade lovers, but I will describe Dirt Rally with hardcore settings. The only exception I left was the automatic transmission. Since to play with the mechanics, you also need pedals and a steering wheel. With a gamepad or, God forbid, a keyboard, it is unrealistic to control the mechanics.

I myself, especially for these purposes, ordered myself to aliexpress. Is it comfortable to play with the keyboard? On front-wheel drive vehicles, yes. On all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive cars - no. And on many routes, “gas to the floor” is far from the best solution. And the “point control” (several quick keystrokes, instead of holding it), familiar to keyboardists, does not always produce the desired result.

Dirt Rally is a simulator in which the need for speed is your worst enemy. But your allies are controlled drifts, cold calculation, maximum concentration, a navigator and, of course, a little luck.

What does Dirt Rally offer us? And she offers us a wide fleet of vehicles of different eras - from cars of the 60s to modern ones. But there are not as many trails as we would like. However, they provide many types of surfaces: gravel, ice, snow, asphalt, dirt… Add to this set different weather conditions: snowfall, rain… And also the times of the day. And you will get many interesting combinations to test both the car and your own skills.

Cars behave quite naturally, and the type of road surface, weather conditions and pre-trip settings of virtual transport greatly affect the behavior of the car during the race. Add to everything else a great sound: the sound of the engine, the sound of small stones on the body of the car, the clang of a wing that is about to fall off ... The sound is great, perfect and realistic.

As for game modes, there are several of them:
– classic rally in which you must show best time;
rally cross, which presents the opportunity to compete with three rivals on the ring tracks;
hill climb, in which, unlike the classic rally, you will not have a navigator, and you will have to study the track on your own.

Adrenaline and speed in the last of the listed modes go off scale. But I prefer the classic rally. But rally cross is somehow not at all interesting to me.

As you progress through the game, you will move from league to league until you reach the very top of your virtual career. However, Single player game it's not important here. Where more interesting to go to online racing... Just imagine: several thousand real opponents compete, fighting for the best time. There are daily, weekly and monthly races.

And the multiplayer mode is much more interesting than the single player mode. Here you can no longer restart the race if you make a mistake. Here, caution is much more important than spectacular turns and high speeds.

So, if you want to drive really well in Dirt Rally, then you should play multiplayer. Such races are perceived much more seriously, and, consequently, you will drive more carefully. Otherwise, you will be disappointed when, from one small oversight, you crash your car and fly out of the championship in which you have participated for a whole month. Believe me, emotions arise very strong. I experienced it myself when I crashed a 60s Mini Cooper on the 20th run of 24. I am sure that such a virtual happened not only to me.

However, single mode can come in handy in those moments when there is not enough virtual local currency for a new car, which is necessary for an online race. For these purposes, I use it.

Buy Dirt Rally at a discount

In the trading floor Steam this simulator costs 1199 rubles. A lot, but believe me, it deserves a much higher price. However, you can buy the official steam version of Dirt Rally at a significant discount! For example, here in this store: Steam version of Dirt Rally from 698 rubles. After payment, a message with an activation key will be sent to the Email you specified, which you will need to enter in the Steam menu: Games> Activate on Steam. I wish you a pleasant game! See you at Chronicles;).

P.S. Keyboard/Gamepad layout for playing Dirt Rally

I think this is an important question. The control layout determines how quickly you will react to traffic situations. On the keyboard I played with this layout:
A - turn left;
D - turn right;
R - "reset" the machine;
up arrow - gas pedal;
left arrow - handbrake;
right arrow - brake;
gap — wipers.
The classic layout WASD + space seems more convenient, but with my version, when I got used to it, I managed to drive a virtual vehicle much more efficiently.
On the gamepad, I put the following layout:

Gas, in any case, is better to put on something analog: either on the stick or on the trigger, if any. This will allow you not to press the gas pedal to the floor, applying acceleration only as much as necessary. On many of the tracks featured in Dirt Rally, riding at moderate speeds is preferable to fast acceleration and hard braking.

Codemasters did not disappoint again. But DiRT 4 can still disappoint someone.

Gambling https://www.site/ https://www.site/

No matter what anyone says, miracles do happen sometimes. And what appeared two years ago DiRT Rally, is direct evidence of this. Over the past ten years, thousands of players have repeatedly lamented that Colin McRae Rally(as the DiRT series used to be called) forgot about its roots and turned into a spectacular, beautiful, but superficial arcade game. And here Codemasters decided on an experiment: to make a hardcore rally simulator in the spirit of their old games, or even more seriously.

The move turned out to be successful, but we were still worried: what if they ruin everything, take up the old again? And the developers really took it: they simplified something, added a “sparkle” somewhere. Only here it is not so bad. The main thing that needs to be understood and accepted is by no means DiRT Rally 2. But it’s not DiRT 3 with her "dzhimkhana" and rally "walks".

Feeling the edge

The most important thing for which they loved the previous game is here. The rally here is not easy walking on wide and safe roads, as in the first three parts. In DiRT 4 there is a place for risk, narrow winding tracks, long special stages and precipices along the edges of the roads. In the event of an accident, you can’t just go back and rewind time, and crashed cars not only look bad, but also behave accordingly and do not miraculously recover between special stages. Even the possibility of a restart can be disabled in order to feel all the extreme and danger of such competitions.

After all, what is a rally? This is almost the most reckless motorsport discipline in the world, where racers rush at great speed along the impassability between trees and stones, let cars skid on the edge of a cliff, and flying into the forest at night, they just add gas, and even soar on the jumps for several meters up. And sometimes they tumble beautifully, making the slightest mistake. The fourth part, like DiRT Rally, perfectly conveys the nature of these competitions.

Here you need to be able to find the edge, the balance between risk and reliability. A little reinsured - lost precious time and victory. Crossed the line - and dropped out of the race or even ended up in the hospital. Therefore, as a rule, those who know when it is better to rush headlong and when to be careful win here, as a rule. And, of course, he knows how to adapt to a variety of, sometimes difficult, conditions.

The tracks are insidious in places: every now and then stones, bumps, cliffs come across, after which the car, at best, flies into a ditch and loses tens of seconds to "recovery", and at worst, completely ends the race. At the same time, all the main rally attractions are represented here: dirt tracks, and winding asphalt roads, and narrow streets, and hilly terrain, and almost paths in the forests, where the car can hardly fit between the trees. And even snow, where snowdrifts almost waist-deep are waiting for the riders on both sides. So it is important not to yawn, to be attentive, to skillfully use the handbrake and know when to take risks. And also - listen to the navigator, because without his prompts it is sometimes impossible to notice a sharp turn, an obstacle or an abyss.

Another important quality is the ability to take care of your car. Within the framework of one event, all damages wander from one race to another, any breakdowns greatly affect the driving characteristics of the car, and it is not possible to repair it before every special stage. Moreover, the repair takes time, and it is very limited. In the same place, by the way, you can also set up a car or practice during shakedowns.

And doing all this is interesting, because cars are the main stars here. Almost all the local cars, even inconspicuous in appearance, are frisky roaring monsters, willingly breaking into a skid. In terms of physics, however, the developers have rather taken a step back. DiRT Rally was jokingly called by many " Dark Souls from the world of racing”, but the fourth part immediately suggests deciding whether the player is waiting for a simulator or an arcade. If you don’t want to strain yourself, you can choose weaker opponents and make cars much more obedient.

This will not deprive them of character: driving cars, even in arcade mode, is a pleasure. You literally feel the weight shift, traction and traction, and the sound design only adds to the immersion: the growl of the engine, the rattle of metal on bumps, the stones smashing against the bottom of the car - rally racing has never sounded so good.

Another thing is that developers will spoil the fun for hardcore lovers. The weight of the cars here feels better, and the behavior on the pavement has become more predictable, but the braking distance in the simulation mode has been greatly reduced, the car drives worse on gravel, and its rear end does not always behave adequately, which makes it difficult to do, for example, the same Scandinavian flick.

At the same time, it has become easier to drive the car in general, after all, DiRT 4 is not a thoroughbred simulator, but something in between DiRT Rally and DiRT 3. And this approach may upset many.

Quite a different story

The further, the clearer that the fourth part is still not a continuation of DiRT Rally, but a different game with a different philosophy. If DiRT Rally was an experiment - sometimes minimalist, somewhere insanely complex, and in many ways limited by a modest budget, then DiRT 4 is already something of a blockbuster. And it looks much more expensive.

The picture has become richer and juicier, there are many subtleties, such as award ceremonies, animated service centers, and even the need to carefully park the car at the marshal after the end of the race. Someone will surely be pleased with the return of licensed music: boring electronics have been replaced with compositions by The Hives, Circa Waves, Mother Mother, Bastille and many others, which also cannot but rejoice (although opponents of indie and pop rock are unlikely to like it).

But, most importantly, the number of content and modes has increased, and the level of their development has increased. There are still two main disciplines: rally and rallycross. The Pikes Peak hill climb, alas, has disappeared, and its place has been taken by Landrush - pickup truck and buggy rides through the mud. Which, frankly, is the only truly major downside. It is these tarantasses that are the most boring to ride, and the “mud” races themselves are completely devoid of zest and do not entertain (thank God, they can be ignored).

Which, however, is compensated by the same rallycross. WRX Championship, recent times increasingly popular, is presented here in its at its best. Firstly, Codemasters took care to get the FIA license again. Second, it's just as fun. As before, rallycross is about short ring tracks, several rivals at the same time, powerful rally cars, contact wrestling, different surfaces, from dirt to asphalt, as well as the need to drive a "penalty" lap at least once during the race - a joker. And this, believe me, is very cool.

Moreover, doing all this in DiRT 4 is even more interesting. The career mode in DiRT Rally was somewhat superficial, here in best traditions Codemasters, a lot of tinsel, management and entertainment elements have appeared, which allows you to get a little distracted and adds depth to the process.

Yes, championships with scoring, long stages with a bunch of special stages and so on have not gone away, but at the same time there was a place for reading mail, and for the opportunity to create your own team, and for “painting” cars, and even fussing with sponsors .

The British did not stop there: if in the same Grid it was possible to hire partners, and in DiRT Rally - mechanics, then here they offer to assemble almost the entire team, up to PR managers. And for whom this is not enough - to expand its infrastructure so that the return from the team is stronger. For example, a relaxation area and a new workshop will allow engineers to work more efficiently, and more related products will increase the number of sponsors available.

Social events with online competitions have also returned, as well as fun races with knocking down signs, time trials and other tests (fortunately, this time without "gymkhana"). Such things are placed in a separate mode, so that you hardly notice them and you start to execute them last, otherwise the main program is still much more interesting.

Well, the main highlight is, perhaps, free mode, which allows you to create your own championships and events. All its charm is that a full-fledged generator of special stages was built into it. That is, now you can literally manually adjust the length of the track, its complexity, weather and climatic conditions, and the game will generate the special stages itself, so that each race is now a unique experience. True, the joy is a little overshadowed when some pieces of the tracks begin to repeat even during one race. But the presence of such a function is already a success. I want to believe that it will only get more interesting in the future.
