The strangest noob 3 read in full. Fighting Fiction: The Best Books in the Genre

The Second World is a virtual space without inviolable boundaries and strict laws. Complete freedom of action in the vague framework of game conventions. Pay and enjoy, and the rest is not your concern, everything will be tracked by the last generation AIs. They cannot err, they cannot be bribed, they cannot deviate one step from the basic rules of the Second World. So be calm: your game process under reliable supervision.

But are supernetworks so omnipotent? Then why do they disappear one by one and the best minds of the corporation cannot identify the cause of such global failures? And how can you be calm about your gameplay if the owners of the game universe have left for themselves a lot of loopholes inaccessible to ordinary players? Including the unthinkable - with one attack of a monster hidden in a technical location, you can destroy any player both in virtual and in real world.

Those who are behind the scenes of the Second World do not play games. Everything is much more serious.

Gods of the Second World

Chapter 1

The bushes were so-so. Wish a medium-sized dog to hide in them, she would have to face serious difficulties: they are thin, there is practically no foliage at the bottom, and even higher it cannot be said to be lush. There was almost no grass under them, so there was no need to wait for help in disguise from her either. In general, not the most the best place to take cover.

Rosa's dimensions are larger than that of a dog, not only medium, but even large, and, nevertheless, he chose this place for shelter. And what could he do if nothing more suitable was observed nearby, and the count went on for seconds. A flock of creatures that suddenly jumped out from behind a grove on the left left no choice. Running away from creatures that the game developers have endowed with limbs of record length is a bad idea. On the open area these "long-legged" will catch up in a minute, and this is provided that they do not rush.

Ros has seen enough of all the creatures of the Second World, so that by appearance alone he can determine what they are capable of.

He had not met weak opponents in this area for the second day, and it was not worth hoping that these particular ones would be tough for him. The distance didn't allow for details like levels or any stats, but game logic told us that bull-sized monsters were a real problem. Even a player of the hundredth level is not easy to cope with this, and Ros seriously fell short of this bar.

During the five days of the journey, Ros experienced a lot of things. Destroyed several dozen monsters, of which thirteen were new, for which they gave a set of good achievements. A couple of times at the same time he was on the verge of death, escaping due to good equipment, high performance and a set of various spells. The ability to self-medicate was especially helpful. He discovered unexplored territories, because it was not always possible to move in a straight line indicated on the map, and his abilities made it possible to carefully document almost everything that fell on his eye. And with the help of the new precious Transformation Cube, he created six items that had no analogues in the Second World, for which he also received a lot of useful things.

One of the items: a bracelet, turned out to be very good, Ros expected to get no less than seven or eight thousand gold for it, and maybe even all ten.

Everything happened along the way, but even in the most difficult situations, the thread of his playing life was not interrupted. He managed not to get involved in a situation from which there was only one way out: to be reborn. Caution, attentiveness, a bit of luck: step by step, he approached the goal, because death is an inevitable flight back to the Agitrik mine, to the start. And it turns out that five days are lost. Who knows, maybe the rulers of the Forbidden Lands issued a similar task to other groups? If they were more lucky, then Ros had been straining for nothing all this time.

If the creatures notice him, you will have to start over. It remains to pray for flimsy thickets and decently pumped disguise.

Well, you shouldn't move. And blink. And it is necessary to breathe through time, and it is better through two.

THE STRANGE NOOB

Darkness is never absolute. Even in an unlit room, with no windows and tightly closed eyes, you can always see at least something: a thick rash of barely noticeable white dots, faded stains, unclear, elusive pictures. It was as if a battered negative of an overexposed film was inserted into the projector, and they decided to use the inner surface of the eyelids as a screen.

He didn't have to explain what that meant. He remembered everything, or almost everything, until the very moment when a flash flashed in the hangar. Perhaps the last light he saw in his life.

He no longer has a visual center, or at best he is badly damaged. Even if the eyes are preserved, which is unlikely, he simply has nothing to receive information from them. No other explanation came to mind.

The visual center is not a tiny dot in the backyard. It may very well be that the brain was damaged in several places, and seriously damaged. Actually, given the power that gave rise to that last outbreak, it remains to be surprised that he is still alive and even retained the ability to think rationally.

Or maybe not alive at all? Death is an unknown phenomenon. With all the knowledge accumulated by mankind, no one has yet given an exact answer to what comes after.

It is difficult for an atheist to believe in higher powers, but now he would not be surprised if a luminous tunnel with winged figures and divine music opened before him.

The tunnel did not open. And the winged angels did not catch his sinful soul. Instead, he heard a strange voice:

Day ninety-eight. Examination. One, one, one. You hear me? If you hear, try to answer. React in some way. We see that your indicators have changed, but we do not know if you are conscious.

Not very similar to the voice of higher powers. But it doesn't sound like a human voice either. Faceless, somehow metallic, as if a synthesizer is broadcasting. Despite the situation, he did not fall into confusion, the consequence of which would be problems with an adequate perception of reality. Almost instantly I realized that his assumptions about damage to the visual system were indirectly confirmed. They try to reach him using the organs of hearing. Judging by the absence of background sounds, most likely, he also does not have ears, information is transmitted by acting directly on the sound nerve or parts of the brain responsible for hearing.

What does he even have? What's left?..

I can hear you. Do you hear me?

Repeat. I'm doing the tuning, strong distortion.

I can hear you. One, one, one, one...

Enough. We hear you well. Wait, now you will have an important conversation.

In the absence of any stimuli, it is difficult to judge how much time has passed. It felt like an eternity to him. But everything in the world is finite: the same metallic voice came to life again:

Congratulations. We no longer hoped. You have returned from that world. How are you feeling?

Can not answer. In turn, I will ask: exactly how many of me returned from the other world? What's wrong with my body? And what about the rest? Those who were nearby.

Unfortunately, I can't answer either. The exact answer. To do this, you need to contact the doctors.

Are you not a doctor?

No. Yes, you must remember me: I am Steve Adkins.

I remember. You worked on the recruitment for our project.

Yes that's right. However, since then I have been promoted a bit.

Since? It was yesterday. I saw you only yesterday.

No, you didn't see me yesterday. More precisely, they saw it, but it is in your "yesterday". I'm sorry, but for some time you were in a coma.

How long?

It would be better to learn about this from the doctors, I was asked not to report such details.

Why am I talking to you and not to them?

They provide our conversation. We need to discuss extremely important details with you as soon as possible. For this, an employee of the legal department was called in, we will discuss all the details with his participation. Wait a bit.

Subtleties? Shall we discuss? As far as I understand, everything is very sad with my body. Why should I talk to a company representative and its lawyers? Enlighten. Or even this doctors did not allow?

I'm not a lawyer, it's difficult for me ...

But you still try.

Good. I will be brief. I cannot comment on your condition, but it was the result of an injury received during working hours at the workplace. The leadership in my face expresses to you sincere ...

You promised briefly.

I beg your pardon. So, under the terms of the contract in such cases, the company assumes the cost of treatment. True, there are limitations. In particular, we do not pay for treatment abroad. We also do not pay for foreign deliveries of organs for transplantation. Well, a few other points. In your case, payment was made and is being made in full. We were ready to continue to do this, but your unforeseen exit from a coma disrupted plans a little.

Plans? I hope you meant treatment plans?

I'm sorry, but a full-fledged treatment in your case is difficult. Actually, more or less guaranteed maintenance of your life was possible only in a coma. By coming out of it, you have created a problem for your body.

And why do I need a body if it is not treated?

I admire the fact that you are so cold-blooded in assessing your condition. It is indeed very difficult. But medicine does not stand still. Already now there are experimental developments that may help in your case.

Do you want to offer me an experimental treatment?

What do you. No. You misunderstood me. Let's put it this way: you have to wait until new treatments become available. It is most reliable to do this in a state of artificial coma. This reduces the burden on the body, and your psyche can be seriously affected during the waiting time.

I understand that you want to offer me to voluntarily fall into a coma?

Yes, there is a method that is completely safe.

This is not for you to judge, but for doctors, whom for some reason I do not observe.

You can talk to your doctor right now, but I'm afraid he'll suggest the same. There is no alternative.

There is always an alternative.

I have heard about your extraordinary talents, but I will be extremely surprised if you find another way out of this situation. I don’t consider staying in the current state as a way out - it will, in fact, be a veiled euthanasia.

I need a lawyer.

He's about to be.

They say that in modern works main character static - does not change and does not grow spiritually and intellectually in the course of the story. Adventures of the body, but not of the spirit.

These pieces are VERY different. Here, by the end of the second book, GG has pumped intellect to 600, and it’s scary to think how much spirituality has been pumped.

But in general, an interesting work - I listened to the audio format avidly. I got an unpleasant "debuff" - I began to use the words "noob", "pump" and other similar ones.

"Mobs" at work and at home look at me with surprise.

I recalled my youth and Ultima with pleasure.

Score: 9

A fairly high-quality representative of the lit-rpg genre. The plot is built according to absolutely classic canons - the GG is dying, and the only way to survive is to immerse yourself in the virtual reality of the game and earn money for a new body there. Next, the GG receives a bunch of heroic achievements, unique abilities, items, etc., in general, everything is canon)

The storytelling language is quite easy, the pages are literally swallowed. There are practically no long plot stalls, when the author only creates the appearance of plot development, but in fact nothing interesting happens. realties epic event, and you again do not come off and read with interest)

Of the minuses, you can remember a little dreary and protracted beginning.

The verdict is a venerable work of a venerable writer. Lovers of lit-rpg must read)

Score: 8

Weighted average LitRPG.

The plot is an adventure online world flavored with sluggish offline. Nothing outstanding. Apparently the author got acquainted with the works of his predecessors in the genre, deduced the weighted average and issued the finished product. Absolutely handicraft thing, however, does not fall below a certain level. There are no multi-page dialogues and combat here, everything is in moderation, the scenes are cut off by Stony almost as soon as they become boring. But not as exciting as Andrei Cruz's. Reminiscent of a dish from a cheap cafe, everything is honest and the price corresponds, but still not homemade food.

I didn’t get much interest, but I didn’t want to throw the book out the window either. Gheroy is quite convincing for the genre, the characters of the second plan also work out their time on the pages not in vain. Quests could be more poignant, there are no special intrigues when they are completed. The most interesting book is the first, when Gheroy has not yet swayed and began to turn the world around, however, this is true of almost all works in the genre.

I can’t say that I liked it, but I can’t call it a failure either. The thing is strictly for fans of LitRPG.

Rating: no

I will describe everything in order:

I really enjoyed the first book in the series. The tie is fairly standard, but detailed. The initial steps of the GG in the game reminded Ilyin's book "Sheriff". All with humor, pianos, as expected. New acquaintances, knowledge of the game, preparing the reader for a small detective story.

The second book, as a continuation of the first, tells about the further adventures of the GG with obtaining additional buns. The hero becomes an uber bender/crafter/cook and so on. It's a LitRPG. Hello pianos again.

The third book was a real disappointment. For two books Stony led the main character, gradually increasing his power. Friends were made, difficulties were overcome. solved problems. Immediately gallop across Europe. Sometimes the thought arose that this book was not written by Kamenisty himself, but by someone else. A completely different language of narration, everything is compressed in time, where the author drove it is not clear. There was a feeling that it was necessary to finish the book and the cycle faster.

Score: 9

The first book of this genre that I have read. As an avid gamer with great experience, he could not tear himself away until he finished it to the end. Apparently the 3rd part will be final, I'm looking forward to revealing the plot. In fact, the whole story is a certain perfect game with quality character development. The only thing that annoys is the huge number of GG skills and the feeling that all this will someday end, because you can’t fill skills and levels indefinitely, it’s time for them to be realized into something. I haven’t had such a feeling of empathy for the GG that this cycle caused, apparently the point here is not even in the skill of the author, but in the gaming essence, which involves a complete merger with the character within the framework of an RPG project. The only actual sci-fi idea about transferring a person's personality to some kind of digital medium is not new, and the topic practically does not differ from that genre of “hit-mates”, but still captures and does not let go. It is a pity that the author writes at least 3-4 cycles at the same time, the 3rd part is supposed to be released in the spring of the 16th year. After reading the dilogy, I even wanted to plunge into the world of computer RPGs again, but a month of fermentation in Korean sandboxes completely satisfied my “hunger” :-) All RPG lovers will definitely like this opus. I put 10, although I understand that it is overly subjective.

Score: 10

Great cycle!

AT recent times many authors sin that the commercialization of the work comes to the fore and has a bad effect on its literary value. Those. a well-written work turns into a book epic with a long chain of sequels, which more and more lose their connection with the initial work, as well as any readability. Here the author very logically completed everything, putting everything in its place. In general, I don't read Kamenisty very often. His works are for an amateur. Hurricane action and / or fantastic action movie - that's his literary reputation. But I really liked this series. A must read for everyone!

And it doesn't matter if you played RPG or not. After reading the work, the essence becomes clear even to the saddest noob. :)

Score: 10

I can agree with the previous reviewer that I also found something in common with some cycles that I read earlier on this topic, but as the author wrote that the game described here, which takes all the best from others, I think his novels are the same, which is not diminishes their merit. I liked the cycle and I think there will be an ending or even better a continuation in more than one book. My friend, after reading this dilogy, said that he would like to play such a game, in which I support him.

Score: 10

I really liked the style and quality of the presentation, it is easy to read and pleasant. Numerous descriptions of stats are not even that annoying, you have to make allowances for the genre, although many see this as the biggest minus)).

I read it after reading the cycle "Play to Live" by Dmitry Rus... And I had a wild deja vu! Who stole from whom I do not want to understand. It seems that the same stories were thrown to the authors, and they have already developed them in their own way. There are just too many coincidences. Starting from what

Spoiler (plot reveal) (click on it to see)

GG is dying, GG chooses a necro, GG has a chance to get hold of a mega-pet, GG carves out a dungeon alone, GG becomes interesting to the gods, all the top clans and special services of the world hunt for GG, etc. etc.

If you don’t pay attention to this, and the campaign of the book doesn’t work out without it, it’s still very addictive, I read both books (which was published on this moment) in one breath.

For me, the biggest disadvantage of these books is the huge number of times pronounced "noob";).

Score: 9

“How do you like that, Steven Spielberg?” - that's what I want to say after reading the trilogy "The strangest noob." No irony or sarcasm! Film Player One, Ready! - only a pale semblance of the work of Kamenisty. Fortunately for me, I was somewhat “in the subject” of what was happening in the plot - in my youth I managed to play “ Dungeon Siege”, which added understanding of what is happening and the additional effect of immersion when reading. A product of amazing depth and amazing immersion in this depth. Reading with the effect of presence - reading 3D. The case when not only read, but also participated in the plot of the game-work. Incredible completeness, thoughtfulness and detail! Incredible feeling! The book literally encourages you to buy a more powerful computer, install the latest novelty of some RPG game and try to repeat the heroic and thorny path of the strangest noob Rostendrix Poterentaks in the form of some elf noob ... And I will do it!;))

Rating: 10 out of 10. A masterpiece of domestic LitRPG.

Score: 10

A well-knit, finished, masterful and "average" cycle of the genre, which is not to say that it strongly stands out against the background of some of the mastodons of the genre, but does not look like an outright farce either. All components of the genre are available, written out perfectly, the works are read very easily, interestingly and with “maximum immersion”. Something outstanding? It's not for these books. And here it does not sound like a minus, but rather even a plus - sometimes you really want to relax and not twist your brain with secrets and revealing "secret secrets". Here it is wonderful to have a rest while reading, in the lightest and most relaxed performance.

Classic LITRPG - I can say this with all responsibility.

Score: 8

I agree, the series as a whole takes time easily, especially the first book, then in the second one you get tired of the number of goodies, some predictability, and something monotonous. In the third book, this is quite nicely beaten, and the denouement is not bad - all the pianos and tails will play their part. But I repeat subjectively - quite mediocre, but for a liter RPG it’s not bad, but in any case, not a masterpiece.

Artem Kamenisty
Year of issue: 2015-2016
Genre: Science Fiction, Action Fantasy
Publisher: Do-it-yourself audiobook
Artist: Gennady Korshunov
Duration: 34:53:10
Description:
The explosion deprived him of everything: a normal life, money, hopes for the future. Even his own mother would not have recognized him in that bloodied piece of meat that was left from a recently healthy and strong person. The only reason he's still alive is the expensive insurance that's about to run out. It would seem that there are no more chances to start a new full life. Or is there? Such a chance gives him the Second World - new online game with full immersion, which conquered almost the whole world and almost does not differ from reality. The account is very expensive, but game currency freely changes to the real one. And at a very tasty rate. Having no idea about MMORPGs and games in general, the hero creates the strangest character with just an idiotic distribution of characteristics. Now he's the weirdest noob ever.

02. The strangest noob. Slave of the Forbidden Lands
The cart of the history of our world prefers to move in a gentle spiral, and, completing the coil, you are very close to its beginning. The history of the Second World seems to have simplified its path to the ring, from which there is no way out. When you take hold of a magician's staff, don't expect no one to take it away from you. Or it won't change to anything. For example, on the pickaxe with which you met the first days of a new birth, just as rusty and good for nothing. The ring is for that and the ring: everything that happens to you will be repeated again and again. Except with minor variations. For example, from a relatively free miner you will turn into a disenfranchised slave. Entire provinces are burning in the fire of an unprecedented invasion, the most powerful clans and the emperor’s guards have taken up arms, trying to stop the hordes of nonhumans. A war is raging that no one expected, for which no one prepared, not even suspecting that the boredom of provincial life could be dispelled so quickly and cruelly. What is your role in all this? Unknown. But it is known where you should start: take a pick in your hands and proceed. There is enough ore here for your age.

I don't respect black people.

Have you become a racist?

Yeah. And quite by accident. By chance I bought myself a house in Alabama. Nice place, and nice neighbors, quite different from the northerners. Do you know that rare Negro can cross Alabama from one end to the other and never take a bullet in the process? So I didn't even notice how I got involved in this case.

Zhenya, I know perfectly well what Alabama is. And I know you. I'm being hinted at from all sides about your incapacity. Try to prove that you just decided to joke on the verge of a foul in a situation that is completely not conducive to humor, otherwise I will start listening to the opinions of others.

Namesake, do you know Adkins?

Already familiar.

Understood. You, using the peculiarities of our communication, are trying to find out if I am an impostor. And what's the verdict?

How did I meet your cat?

Stepped on his tail, and the next time, making amends, brought him sour cream, and you became friends.

Hello John.

Well, you finally got to know me. I could immediately start with a cat, and not trump racism.

Sorry, I'm very nervous.

Yes, I did not even think to be offended.

Long time no see.

Sorry to see you like this...

I don't have much time, so let's do without unnecessary lyrics.

I understand, I won't shed any tears.

Mind you, Adkins might be listening in on us.

And I understood it.

Have you been informed about my case? Have you read everything?

Everything they gave. You were injured during the explosion in the laboratory. Of the six employees who were at that time in the room, you are the only survivor. It was lucky that you had a deep resuscitation capsule for testing, you barely had time to convey to it. Then more than three months of coma, artificial lung, digestive system, removal ... However, you should have been introduced to this.

Yes. In this country, nothing is hidden from patients.

And in yours?

Anything happens, but they love to lie.

Zhenya, you wanted us to help you. How?

They're going to put me in a coma again. I want to know is it forever? What options?

There is an option to stand up. New body. Clone.

Is there such a technology?

Officially, no, although people are slowly growing for themselves. Not in this country, of course, but not so far south everything is possible.

My contract does not provide for treatment abroad.

I know. Moreover: it contains a fixed amount, beyond which you will not receive a cent. And you're already dangerously close to those limits. To grow a clone is a sum with seven zeros, or even more. Officially, you can’t do anything like this, because the service is criminal. The clone is grown over the years, while it has its own personality. In fact, at the end we are dealing with a deliberate murder: a formed person is dismantled for spare parts for his genetic twin, battered by time and disease. Running in the technology of the so-called “mindless clones” is a matter of the coming years, but you don’t have these years and there are no sums with so many zeros. In addition, in addition to the body, your brain is damaged, and seriously damaged. There is currently no solution to this problem. Even in the best case, with the complete success of the transplant, we will get a disabled person, because the problem of mediated transfer has not yet been solved, although there are changes in this issue and some experts believe that we are on the verge of a breakthrough.

And you called it an option?

Well ... theoretically - this is an option.

In fact, we simply lost time.

it useful information. You had to familiarize yourself with it to continue the conversation.

Sequels? Are there any other options?

Three options.

Yes, it turns out that I have an abyss of choice ... I hope not the same?

No. First, you agree to Adkins' offer. This is followed by a coma and a cryostat. Theoretically, you can stay in this state for thirty to forty years. The rest of the company's obligations, your funds and the funds of your parents will be enough to provide for you all this time, or almost all.

My parents?

Yes, we have already contacted them.

They are poor people.

As are you.

Well, I would have another five years ...

Second, you are being voluntarily disabled under Amendment 143 to the Voluntary End of Life Act. We have your death and saved family money.

Nice... I'm even afraid to think what the third option will be...

Zhenya, you know how conservative I am: sweets are always for dessert.

Get your dessert...

Have you ever played modern games full immersion?

Tested flight simulators about two years ago. More precisely, I tried to test, for the sake of interest. You can call it a game.

No, it's not exactly that. I mean modern network games. These are games that are played by thousands and millions at the same time, interacting with each other, fighting, cooperating, even creating families.

I'm sorry, but I haven't had time for anything lately. Working hard to earn my first million, you know. While studying - yes, it happened. A couple of friends, due to their passion for games, even flew out of the course, scoring on everything except computers. I'm not so serious, just dabbled a little. I don't understand why you mentioned them.

Have you heard of Second World?
