Effective card shuffling. How to shuffle cards. Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering

Basics mechanical engineering

This section is devoted to the simplest techniques, without which it is impossible to engage in card tricks. These techniques have been used for several centuries and are the basic elements in card magic. In some other sections, these techniques are considered in more detail.

How to shuffle cards. Every person who has ever played cards knows perfectly well what a shuffle is and how to shuffle cards. Therefore, in this section I will give a description of the most popular and common shuffling of cards.

Take the deck in your left hand so that the long edge of the deck lies at the base of the fingers of your left hand. The thumb of the left hand is on the back of the top card, and the tips of the other fingers are on the left side of the bottom card of the deck. Next, take the deck with your right hand, lift it up, at the same time the thumb of your left hand pulls off part of the cards from the deck, leaving this part in your hand. After that, with your right hand, make several movements up and down, lowering and raising the cards and the palm of your left hand, on top of the cards that are already in your left hand. Each time the cards fall into the palm of the left hand, the thumb of the left hand pulls one or more cards from the right hand. This process continues until there are no cards left in the right hand. Then the shuffle is repeated. During the shuffle, you can not look at the cards. The speed of shuffling should be medium, the pace of shuffling should be uniform. Practice shuffling until shuffling becomes a habit.

Top card control. This technique allows you to leave the top card on top of the deck after shuffling. To do this, take the deck and start shuffling in the usual way, while paying attention to the fact that the thumb on the left hand from the beginning of the shuffle pulled off only one top card. After that, without stopping, continue shuffling the cards until the deck runs out. As a result of these actions, the top card will go under the bottom of the deck. Then shuffle the cards again so that the last card in the right hand remains one, and you casually throw it on top of the deck. So, as a result of two shuffles, the top card remained on top of the deck. When using this technique, it is necessary not to focus the attention of the audience on the shuffle, but to use a psychological technique. The shuffle should take place as if by itself and there should not be the slightest emphasis on shuffling the cards.

Bottom card control. This technique allows you to leave the bottom card at the bottom of the deck after shuffling. To do this, take the deck and start shuffling in the usual way, while the thumb of the left hand pulls off part of the cards on top of the deck and at the same time the middle and ring fingers of the left hand pull the bottom card. The rest of the cards are shuffled in the usual way. As a result of using this technique, the bottom card remains in its place.

Top and bottom card control. This technique allows you to leave the top and bottom cards of the deck after shuffling in their places. To do this, take the deck and start shuffling in the usual way, while the left hand pulls together the top and bottom card, and continue to shuffle the deck in the usual way. Then line up the cards in the deck and repeat the shuffle again, also pulling the top and bottom cards together at the beginning of the shuffle. Then continue to shuffle until one card remains in the right hand, which is thrown to the top of the deck. As a result of using this technique, the bottom and top cards will remain in their places. This trick can be used to keep two bottom cards and one top card in place.

This technique allows you to leave the top of the deck after shuffling in its place. This is done in the following way. To do this, take a deck and, before shuffling, pull off the top of the deck, which you want to leave in place, then pull off only one card using the “protrusion” technique, which is described below. Then you continue to shuffle the remaining deck in the usual way.

After the end of the shuffle, the card that will come out will mark the place where the former top cards of the deck lie. Then, with your right hand, lift the deck from your left hand, with the thumb of your right hand pressing forward on the protruding card, at the same time thrusting it into the deck so that a small gap forms in this place. With the thumb of your right hand, hold this slot and begin shuffling the cards until you reach this slot, after which all the cards that remain in your right hand are thrown onto the top of the deck. As a result of using this technique, the initial upper part of the deck will remain in its place.

Ches (jogging). This term means a special shuffling of cards, which is used as an auxiliary. When using this shuffle, the cards are drawn strictly one at a time. To do this, take the deck, and starting the shuffle, press the thumb of the left hand to the back of the deck, the right hand raises the deck, and the thumb of the left hand pulls only one top card. After that, the deck is lowered and the thumb of the left hand again pulls only one top card. Thus, the shuffling of cards continues until the entire deck is over. Usually this method of shuffling is used to pull two or three cards, in rare cases 6 cards, and there is no need to shuffle the entire deck, pulling only one card each, because such a shuffle looks unnatural and causes only suspicion among the audience. This shuffle is very useful to use so that the fingers acquire the necessary sensitivity and lightness, which is needed in almost all shuffles. Cards in very good condition are required to use this shuffle.

Protrusion (injog). This technique allows you to keep a certain place in the deck under control. To do this, take the deck, start shuffling, and during the shuffle, the right hand moves slightly towards the body, the thumb of the left hand pulls one card so that it protrudes slightly from the inner edge of the deck.

After that, the right hand moves forward to its original position and continues the shuffle in the usual way. The result of this will be that one card will protrude from the inside edge of the deck. Then the shuffling continues in the usual way, and the cards must be shuffled somewhat unevenly, with a shift back and forth in order to mask the protruding card. In the process of performing this technique, you can’t look at the cards, it is necessary that the little finger on the left hand feels the situation and determines that the card that appears has taken the correct position. During long workouts, you can leave the card in a protruding position of only a few millimeters without losing control of it.

Shooting. This technique is used after shuffling, in order to exclude card juggling. The meaning of the reception is quite simple, you need to swap the upper and lower parts of the deck. To do this, you need to remove any upper part of the deck and put it under the bottom of the deck.

This technique is used to create the appearance of shooting. To do this, you need to divide the deck into two parts, as in a real shooting, but the top part must be returned back to the top. To do this, you need to use a psychological technique, you need to divert the viewer's attention to something unimportant. Shooting is performed openly, with the fingertips in a position that is convenient for observation, emphasizing that you are not hiding anything.

This course of action disarms the audience. Now you are removing the bottom of the deck instead of the top, but in order for the viewer to believe that the top of the deck has been removed, you must use the index finger of your right hand, which slides along the back of the top card in such a way as to pull the top of the deck with it. Next, the right hand puts the removed part of the deck on the table and returns to the left hand, then takes the rest of the deck and puts it on top of the first part. Thus, the impression of the visibility of the shooting was created.

Key card. This technique is used in focus with finding the card. The key card helps the magician find the card the spectator chooses. The idea of this finding is very simple, if you know one of the cards in the deck, then by putting the card chosen by the spectator next to this card, you can always easily find an unknown card next to your card. Your known card is called the key card because it serves as the key to finding the card the spectator has chosen. Let's consider this approach in more detail. You take a deck, memorize the card that lies at the bottom of the deck, then invite the spectator to choose any card, the spectator selects it, remembers it and puts it on top of the deck, after which the deck is removed. As a result of shooting, the viewer's card will be under the card that lay at the bottom of the deck. Now you need to look at the deck and pull out the card that is under your card. This is the easiest way to find a map. You shouldn't use it, you just need to know it. But it is necessary to apply this method. You look at the bottom card in the deck, shuffle the cards, and keep it at the bottom with a shuffle. Without looking at the deck, remove the bottom part while sliding your index finger over the top part. After that, invite the viewer to put the chosen card on top of the cards that remained in the left hand. As soon as the spectator puts down his card, you cover his card with cards from your right hand. This way the key card will be on top of the spectator's card, giving the spectator the impression that you lifted the deck in the middle to return the card, and that you are completely unaware of the cards that lie next to his card. I would like to pay attention to how to handle a deck in which the key card lies next to the spectator's card. Of course this deck can be removed any number of times and the key card with the selected card will not be separated. Even if any shoot splits the deck by accident, the next shoot will bring them together again. Here shuffling is another matter. In the process of shuffling the cards, the key card and the spectator's card may be separated. But in order for the cards not to separate, it is necessary to shuffle like this. Let's say that the key card and the spectator's card lie somewhere in the middle of the deck. In the usual way, shuffle one third of the deck, and then discard the rest of the deck. Next, pull off approximately two-thirds of the deck and shuffle the remaining third of the deck over it. This double shuffle is quite convincing, although the middle part of the deck is not shuffled at all, so the key card and the spectator's card cannot separate. If we assume that the magician lets the spectator shuffle the card, then the probability of separation of these cards is quite small and therefore the magicians let the spectator shuffle the deck.

Production of a key card. In order to make a key card, take two identical cards with pictures. For one of the cards, cut off the white edging around the card, and glue the middle part to the second same card from the side of the picture. In this case, when removing cards, the key card must always be at the bottom of the deck. If the part remaining during cutting is glued from the side of the net, then when removed, it should be the top in the deck. At a cursory glance, the made card is no different from other cards, but it can be very easily found in the deck:

if you look at the deck from the side;
if you flip through the cards, then a click is clearly audible;
if you feel the cards on one side.

A big plus of this key card is that when shuffling, the key card and the card chosen by the spectator are not separated! Therefore, calmly place the chosen card by the spectator under the key card and shuffle it sideways so that the cards jump into each other. You can shuffle in this way as much as you like - the couple will not be separated.

Shuffling exercises. All the shuffles discussed above are best trained with this exercise.

Take a deck of cards and turn the top card of the deck face up.
Next, shuffle the deck down then back up.
Continue shuffling the deck, leaving the flipped card on the bottom, and then shuffle the deck back up.
Then turn over the bottom card, shuffle, leaving the top and bottom cards in place.
By shuffling the deck, move the top card to the second place from the bottom of the deck, then move the card back to the top of the deck. Be sure to check yourself.
After shuffling the cards in the above ways, start a new shuffle by pulling the thumb of your left hand around one third of the deck, then shuffle 9 cards in one rhythm, counting to yourself 1-2-3 1-2-3 1-2-3 , pull off the tenth card using the ledge and discard the rest of the deck. Then, with your right hand, lift the deck, push the protruding card back with your thumb so that a gap is formed under the turned card. After that, pull all the cards to the gap with the thumb of your left hand, then again shuffle 10 cards and discard the rest of the deck. The deck must return to the starting point position

Rituals are not an obligatory part of divination. But despite this, there are several reasons why it would be good to include a couple of rituals in your practice.
Our daily life is full of hustle and bustle. Carrying out even the simplest ritual is a way to calm down, get together, focus on current tasks. It is believed that tarot divination is a connection or communication with the divine. And this communication is beneficial when your mind is open, everyday logic subsides, and intuition is activated. By performing a ritual before divination, you are helping to rebuild your mind and set it up for divination. Finally, if you are guessing for someone, then the ritual will help this person to calm down, gather, focus. The ritual will allow you to enter a supersensible state, due to which a person will become more receptive to the message that he will receive during divination.

Rituals can be as complex or as simple as you wish. Your personal ritual may consist of one or a series of actions. We provide a list of what other tarologists do. Try some of these actions, individually or in combination, and you will see which one is right for you:

Change into special clothes for laying out cards;
- Shuffle and remove cards always in the same way;
- Place your feet flat on the floor, fold your hands on your knees, close your eyes and concentrate;
- Light a candle;
- Turn on the music;
- Say a prayer or a spell;
- Light the incense.

How to shuffle, shoot, draw cards

Before you start fortune telling, shuffle the deck well. There are many ways to do this. You can shuffle them around like most people do with playing cards. If you think that this method can damage your cards, use the shuffle method in which one hand throws cards over the other. If the deck is too large (or your hands are too small) for this method, you can shuffle the cards by placing them face down on the table.

Raising the deck is just a beautiful gesture. In the case of playing cards, the draw plays the role of protection against cheating, but in divination it is just part of the ritual. Divide the deck into two or more pieces, and then put the deck back together by swapping the pieces. Some fortune-tellers do this with a weak hand (for a right-handed person, the left hand is a weak hand, for a left-handed person, the right hand. Approx. zmeykina).

Card draw refers to the way in which you draw cards from the deck and place them in a spread position. You can draw cards from the top or bottom of the deck. You can spread the deck like a fan on the table and choose the required number of cards for the spread in any order, stacking them in a pile, and then laying them out in the spread position from top to bottom.

If you are guessing to someone else, decide who will shuffle and cut the deck: just you, just that person, or both of you. Some tarot readers do not allow anyone to touch their deck. Others believe that it is important that the cards mix the energy of both parties involved.

Some prefer to lay cards face up, others face down. Laying the cards face down has the advantage that the plot builds up the moment each card is revealed. new map; this allows you to focus on the card without distracting your attention from the cards that come later. Laying the cards face up allows you to see the spread as a whole and as a general information picture even before you select individual cards in it.

Reading layout

Reading a spread is a review of the information reflected in the spread. Since you already know that different groups of cards in a deck have specific meanings, you can incorporate your knowledge of the basic structure of a tarot deck into your reading. Major Arcana represent significant events in life, cups - emotions and relationships, aces - new beginnings, etc.
However, there is something else that tarologists pay attention to. If a large number of court cards fall out in the layout, this may mean too many people are involved in the situation. Knights can mean a fast-paced situation, especially when paired with the Eight of Wands. Aces, deuces and threes can mean a situation in the early stages; fours, fives and sixes - in the middle, sevens, eights and nines - situations close to resolution; ten shows the end of the situation or cycle. When you have laid out the layout, pay attention to the number of Major Arcana, suits, numbers, or court cards. You may also pay attention to recurring colors, symbols, or images that speak to your intuition.

If, for example, you are guessing at relationships and a lot of wands appear in the layout, there are no cups, and there are fours, this may indicate that the overall situation is not rosy - there are problems and possibly stagnation. Then, as you interpret each card in its position, you add details.

Cleaning your deck is close to a ritual, but you only clear the deck after divination, and not before. This is a way to symbolically and energetically cleanse your cards of unwanted external influences and return the deck to a neutral state. You can sort through your deck and lay out the cards in a straight line in order, or pass each card over the smoke of smoking sage. Store your cards with crystal or rose quartz. Leave the deck on the windowsill under the light of the full moon.

Logging

Many tarologists write down their layouts in a journal. For them, it is a tool for learning tarot. By saving information about the layouts, you can then return to them and see how the situation you predicted unfolded in reality. You can see if your prediction was accurate or if you missed specific details.

Another preferred journaling technique is to choose a card of the day (or a different frequency if you wish), and use the card as inspiration for writing an essay. The essay is written in a limited time frame: try starting with five minutes. You write without paying attention to grammar, punctuation and other such things. Just write about whatever the card inspires you to do. After you have written, write what you know about the meaning of the card and match it with what you have written.

If you keep a journal, you will be able to notice all your insights, discoveries and insights. Go back to your journal from time to time and reread it. You may be surprised that you forgot some meanings, or notice that some nuances that you did not pay attention to have become relevant in the present.

And now, it's time to look into the artist's notes, to get acquainted with her cards created by her with magic and care, full of wisdom and pictorial beauty.

Since it is beautiful to shuffle cards - you ask me. I answer in this article.

Let's look at one of the options for shuffling cards in the "American" way. This is a shuffle of Riffle Shuffle cards on the table.

This type of card shuffling looks quite impressive.

It is essentially simple to do. It's easier than . That is why you need to master it 100%. This method of shuffling is popular both in casinos and at home.

So where to start?

We take a deck of cards and put them on the table in front of us. Then we take it with one hand and remove about half of the deck and put it next to the second half.

Now we take and put our palms on each half. So that the thumb is on one long side of the cards, and the rest of the cards on the other. Now we take the thumb and lift the corner of one pile and, accordingly, with the other hand, do the same with the other half!

After that, we turn the cards a little away from us so that the raised corners look at each other. And now we begin to let go of these corners so that the cards from two piles fall into one alternately. When everything is finished, align the deck.

OK it's all over Now. To make it clearer for you, I recorded a video for you. In the video, I do a little differently than in the diagram. But I think that you will choose your option. Good luck!

In general, many do not know about the possibilities of this shuffle. not only can you shuffle cards in this way, there is tuning for it, so to speak. Namely, there is a version of its fake performance, the so-called Zarrow Shuffle. Outwardly, everything is identical, but in reality the deck is not shuffled.

Also with its help you can carry out a variety of card controls. All this you will know

It is possible to execute from this shuffle the crown cheat trick Double Duke (Double Duke), which you probably have not heard of.

Also, various fake cheating withdrawals are made from it, which you will certainly learn about on the open spaces of my site.

Now you know how to shuffle cards beautifully and what opportunities open up from this.

Any card player, professional or amateur, knows perfectly well what card shuffling is and how they should be shuffled. There are several basic ways to mix cards:

Hand-to-hand (or natruska) shuffling and corrugated shuffling. The first method is most often used at home and has two types: mixing up and down and "jogging manners". In the first form, when the cards are shuffled, the bottom group of the deck is at the bottom. In the second, they use a slightly extended card or a group of cards to build a deck (in-jogs and out-jogs), shuffling over the pack.

At fluted shuffle use deck control, control of a card or group of cards, ledge shuffling, corrugated picking, assembly movement.

Another type of shuffle - "Pharaoh", where the alternation of cards occurs evenly from the two halves of the deck.

Shuffle (shuffle) is any mixing and moving of cards in order to create their unpredictable and indefinite output during the game. Shuffle is a preparatory procedure before the cards are dealt. The deck is thoroughly mixed and trimmed.

All dealer operations must be clear, the optimal speed when shuffling cards is medium, and the pace is uniform. All this happens in front of the players. Good and efficient shuffling of cards requires a certain skill and dexterity of the dealer's hands and is sometimes a decisive factor in the outcome of the game.

The casino uses several basic types of shuffles: riffle, sheimy, strip.

AT riffle shuffle shuffling of two halves of a deck of cards is used - this is a thorough and quick mixing.

AT shammy shuffle cards are shuffled randomly.

Block mixing of cards, where from 4 or more parts of a deck of cards are mixed with each other, is called strip shuffle.

Each shuffle is accompanied by a mandatory card alignment procedure and ends pruning. Undercutting is the final step in the complete shuffle cycle. It is performed by the dealer only once and strictly with one hand; at home, the deck is cut by the player sitting in front of the dealer.

The complete process of shuffling cards is the alternation several shuffles, alignment and trimming and is carried out before each distribution. In the casino, the dealer mixes all the cards, after which the player is invited to cut them with a special scoring card. Then the cards are folded into a special device called a "heel" or "shoe", from which cards are drawn for distribution. In some cases, the first few cards from the "heel" are removed "into the closed". Previously played cards are stacked in a specially designated place. As soon as a scoring card comes out of the “heel”, the current distribution is played out and the whole deck is shuffled again. Thus, the cards that remain behind the scoring do not participate in the game.

in the casino, and recent times more and more often at home, special devices are used to shuffle cards - shuffle machines.

The machine effectively mixes the deck of cards in a fully automatic mode. With its help, the preparatory stage for the game is significantly accelerated and cheating is excluded at the stage of mixing cards. Convenience, practicality and reliability in the use of a shuffle machine guarantees a fair distribution of cards for a home gaming tournament, high level games and prestige.
