How long have you heard about? But in the meantime, global changes are taking place there both in terms of graphics and mechanics! The developers do not stand still and in no case are they going to abandon their brainchild, but on the contrary, they make it even better!

In the near future, we expect completely new animations, redesigned 3D models, more detailed graphics, a rewritten network component, as well as a modified food system. Now let's take a closer look.

New animations and 3D models


Perhaps the most important of all updates is the update of all animations and completely all 3D models, from the character to each of the zombies.

As you can see from the above video, the new system is fundamentally different from the old one, it is more pleasing to the eye. I will say more, at first I can’t even believe that it is.

Now there are clashes with zombies, and there are different variants: zombies now fall, just like you, if you do not notice, for example, a fence. Movement has become more like real walking - now the character slips less when walking. Much has been updated and redone from scratch, all of which have been worked on since the beginning of 2015. That is why this is the most major update which awaits us in the near future.


Regarding 3D models. The advantage of the rework is that now the character is divided into 2 parts. That is, the animation for the legs and for the torso is played separately from each other. This gives you a lot more options for creating various animations. Also, thanks to the new models, we will see a new clothing system, it is already completely different from what it was before.

Now there are hats. There are both ordinary city hats and hats of various city services (police, firemen, etc.). You can even see a motorcycle helmet in the video, which is pretty cool. Now, various beatings and abrasions are visible on the clothes and on the body. You can see the decomposition into zombies. Thanks to new models, the possibility of adding and dismembering is not excluded.

P.S. Literally the next day after writing the article, a major update was released, adding new 3D models! But, unfortunately, without animations, so we have to wait, the appearance of models was the first step. You can try the update yourself in the test branch of the game!

New graphics


The graphics have also undergone changes, although not so global. Pixels have become much smaller, even at the maximum approximation, they are barely visible. Unlike what happened before, this is a truly joyful event.


Not only the character himself has changed, but the whole environment. Now every table has become more beautiful and detailed. The event is not so loud, but still pleasant. The update is already available in the test branch of the game.

Metallurgy


Metallurgy will also be added to the game. With it, it will be possible to craft various tools or, for example, the recently introduced metal shutters on the windows. At the same time, iron doors will appear, which will also need to be created. There is not much information on metallurgy yet. Developers are still experimenting and actively communicating with the community.


After the first show of metallurgy to the public, the fans advised and corrected a lot. The creators listened and decided to completely abandon the ingots. So it is not even clear yet how everything will be implemented, but work is underway, which is very good.

Creative mode and map structure update


Creative mode is a thing that has been needed for a long time. Because the map itself is quite large by the standards, but very empty. There are only 2 cities and a small branch. These 2 cities are connected by a road, but there is just a huge empty space between them. The main problem was not the emptiness, but the fact that if you are going to move from one city to another, you will simply starve to death while you go.

That is why the creative mode is so necessary, the users themselves will be able to create and fill out the map. Now this is also possible, but rather laborious and dreary. But the tool will definitely be added to the game and will become convenient for the average user. It was rumored that even the developers themselves decided to switch to a new in-game mode to create an improved map.


Structure update game cards is that the creators managed to raise the maximum number of floors. Previously, there was a limit of 8 floors, now it has increased significantly! The problem was that the whole map was loaded at the same time, if you build more than 8 floors, then this would cause wild drawdowns.

Now the whole territory has been divided into chunks, the system is similar. This update is also very important, because players would still find a way around the 8 floors limit, and after downloading these maps there would be a lot of complaints about low FPS and just about the game in general. The high-rise metropolises that fans have been waiting for are, in fact, already real. It just remains to wait for the release of the creative mode, and the release is planned already in the 34th assembly.

Supply system


Here the updates are not so critical. Many food icons were redrawn, and the food system itself was changed. Now the character should not ask you for food every 5 minutes, but everything that you eat will be taken into account. The character can become ill from this or that food, he can even feel sad from the monotonous diet.

That is, we have complicated the game, making it more realistic. We need to look for more varied food, it will not work now just to eat canned food alone. new system You can already evaluate it in the test branch of the game!

cooperative


The network component has also been changed. The team was very helpful General Arcade who did most of the work. The developers set the task - to optimize the network code and simplify the creation of the server. Because now the system does not look so simple, in order to play with your company and on your server, of varying degrees of complexity, and it is better to use a LAN simulator.

And it should be so that the creation of the server was easier, but better inside the game with an externally open console. The connection must be made without any or other third party programs, directly through . An internal test is already underway (among the developers), and, as they say, so far everything is going well, which means that a mass test will follow very soon.

Optimization


There was a wave of indignation about the optimization after the announcement of new animations and 3D models. The new detailing will require more resources, but the creators themselves refuted all concerns by posting the video presented above.

Some of the developers, for example, Turbo, have a habit of working quietly, and then immediately roll out the finished one for the test.
