  • Significant improvement artificial intelligence. Now you can’t just kill people on the streets - many law-abiding citizens, not to mention criminals who have weapons at hand, can fight back or avenge the deceased.

The plot of the game

The main character is a Negro named Carl Jones or, as his friends call him, CJ. After spending five years in Liberty City, already familiar to the gamer, he returns to his native San Andreas, where he meets old friends - guys from the area. Of course, they cannot be called brave raiders and experienced fighters. But under the leadership of an experienced leader, they can be a serious force. CJ is to be that leader.

The whole city is divided into districts, each of which is led by one of the gangs. It is really dangerous to enter such areas. Therefore, first of all, CJ must arrange a series of intimidating measures, destroying opponents and subordinating all new areas to his gang. Gradually, his activity becomes more and more noticeable. High-profile criminals and crime bosses keep an eye on him, from time to time giving tasks, the complexity of which is constantly increasing. As the reward for their implementation increases.

Tasks in GTA: San Andreas extremely varied. You will have to shoot, run, steal cars, chase and get off the tail, as well as perform many other tasks. Therefore, the gamer will definitely not be bored.

Additions to the game

As with the previous parts of the game, for GTA: San Andreas, the developers did not release add-ons, considering it to be quite perfect. A different opinion was shared by amateurs who released several dozen add-ons. Most of them change the game very slightly - textures are improved, existing models are changed or new car models are added.

Other releases

PlayStation 3 release

On December 11th 2012, Rockstar announced that GTA San Andreas had officially been released on the PlayStation Network, making the game available for players on the PlayStation 3 platform.

GTA San Andreas Mobile Edition

On November 26th, Rockstar announced that much like the two games preceding it, a mobile version of GTA San Andreas would be released - the game was released for iOS on December 12, 2013, with an Android and Amazon Kindle version released on December 19, 2013 and a Windows phone version on 27 January 2014. The mobile version featured remastered graphics, consisting of dynamic and detailed shadows, greater draw distance, an enriched color palette, plus enhanced character and car models, although a number of songs were removed from the soundtrack, presumably due to licensing issues. The mobile version was later ported to the Xbox 360 on October 26, 2014, the game's 10th anniversary, replacing the Xbox Original version that was previously available, and introducing Achievements.

reception

Prior to its release for the PlayStation 2, grand theft Auto: San Andreas was one of the most highly anticipated video games of 2004, along with Halo 2. San Andreas met most of these expectations, as it was praised as one of the PlayStation 2"s best games, with an average review score on 95%, according to Metacritic, tying for the fifth highest ranked game in PlayStation 2 history. IGN rated the game a 9.9/10 (the highest score it has ever awarded to a PlayStation 2 game), calling it "the defining piece of software " for the PlayStation 2. GameSpot rated the game 9.6/10, giving it an Editor's Choice award. San Andreas also received an A rating from the 1UP.com network and a 10/10 score from Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine. As of March 26, 2008, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has sold 21.5 million units according to Take-Two Interactive. The Guinness World Records 2009 Gamer's Edition list it as the most successful game on the Playstation 2, with 17.33 million copies sold for that console alone, from a total of 21.5 million in all formats. The New York Times" Charles Herold gave the only non-positive review for San Andreas, giving it a "mediocre" rating of 6.0 out of 10, criticizing the "annoying" mission structure, and the casualness of the intense violence featured in the game.

Nearly ten years on, San Andreas continues to receive considerable acclaim, though its dated graphics are a consistent point of criticism even from the game's staunchest supporters. It frequently ranks as a favorite amongst fans of the series, and constantly divides older fans from newer fans who were introduced to the series through - and also believe the best game in the series to be - Grand Theft Auto IV. , and one of the greatest video games of all time in its own right.

Sales:

  • PS2 - 17.4 million
  • PC - 2.3 million
  • Xbox - 1.9 million

Controversy

The game has received widespread acclaim for its technical achievements and free gameplay. However, it also received widespread criticism - initially due to its "gangster" elements, which include drugs, prostitution, and murder; but later due to the discovery of disabled interactive sex scenes, nicknamed hot coffee, which could be re-enabled using third-party mods. This led to the re-rating by the ESRB of the game from Mature to Adults-Only until a second version, with the sex scenes fully removed, was released.

Trivia

  • GTA San Andreas contains many references to the popular 90s Hood Film "Boyz n" The Hood". Some characters in the game are visually and/or mentally based on characters from the film, as well as some events that take place.
  • strangely, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City beta elements can be found in the files. The beta files consist of the beta map, beta intro and outro pictures, and beta loading screen. These may be leftovers from Vice City.
  • GTA San Andreas is also the first Grand Theft Auto to include many features, such as customizing Carl Johnson in many ways (Clothes, Tattoos etc.), ability to go to the gym and gain muscle, and the ability to go on dates with girls, and also have " hot coffee ".
  • In the top right frame on the cover of the game, a street sign saying Grove Street / Glen Park is shown, implying the two streets intersect. In the actual game, the two streets are in different parts of the city.
  • The protagonist of Bully, Jimmy Hopkins, was born around the time GTA San Andreas takes place.
  • Famous author Stephen King mentioned Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas while speaking out against HB 1423, a bill pending in the Massachusetts state legislature that would restrict or ban the sale of violent video games to anyone under age of 18. King stated at one point: " ...it would forbid a 17-year-old, legally able to see Hostel: Part II , from buying or renting Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which is violent but less graphic..." King also opined that such games reflect the violence that already exists in society, which would not be lessened by such a law, and would be redundant in light of the ratings system that already exists for video games.

GTA SA is a recognized cult project in the gaming industry, every user is familiar with it and spent at least a few hours inside the huge state. A great storyline, original gameplay at the time of release, good graphics by time standards - these factors contributed to the success.

Today, many players continue to have fun in the three huge cities of the state. This article contains information about all important aspects. Readers will learn about modifications of various types, plot, soundtrack and the like.

Main story

The game GTA San Andreas has a great storyline that attracted the bulk of the audience. The dramatic story begins with the arrival of CJ back in the state. He left in search a better life and the desire to end past criminal cases.

CJ flew to the states

He was forced to return to his mother's funeral. Difficult relationship with his brother and the money situation forced the protagonist to step on the shaky gangster path again. He must start from the bottom to become a respected person in this underground world. Players are offered several dozen missions. Their attention is focused on the confrontation between warring gangs on the streets of San Andreas.

They have controlled territories and their own symbols. Each new mission will reveal to the player the details of the criminal situation in the state.

Main reasons for popularity

GTA San Andreas latest version attracts users 14 years after the release on all gaming platforms. The plot in the project was great, users were happy to go through it several times in a row. This is not the only reason for the popularity of the project. Developers from the company Rockstar Games skillfully combined diversity gameplay with an interesting story.

Users do not necessarily need to follow a linear path through the main missions. GTA game San Andreas has become popular because of the world with the presence of three large cities - Las Venturas, San Fierro and Los Santos. Them real prototypes New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles are considered. In megacities, users are given complete freedom of action. In addition to the main tasks, there are ambulance missions, taxi, fire service, sports entertainment, car racing. Players found content in San Andreas that they liked. Back in the third part of the series, the creators invented a simple and ingenious concept. The main character is thrown into an open world with a variety of activities, but complete freedom of action. It worked once again.

City in GTA San Andreas

After the launch, players began to look for secondary entertainment. Some were engaged in pumping CJ with the accumulation of a wardrobe, others were looking for ways to earn money, others were 100% through the project. Convenient control with a third-person view was implemented by the developers once again. The GTA San Andreas file began to be actively bought at the time of release, but it was equally downloaded on torrent trackers.

Sound accompaniment

The game has some minor flaws. After 14 years and the rapid development of the industry, users can find them. Technical problems pale in comparison to the soundtrack. Russifier for GTA San Andreas with a professional actor's translation will never appear online. Developers from Rockstar Games have defined a policy in this direction for a long time.

The GTA series is famous for its unique atmosphere of the criminal world with a great deal of satire. This feeling is partly conveyed thanks to the original voice acting of the dialogues. Heroes actively use American slang in their speech. This is happiness for connoisseurs in English, and the rest of the audience remains in the dark about the essence of the next dialogue after listening to it. It was especially difficult for Russian-speaking fans at the exit. The localization of the project did not even provide for subtitles. As a result, the first translation of all remarks was made in a standard translator and became the reason for creating memes on the Internet. The developers remained unconvinced.

With the release of the project, they imposed an embargo on the release of any content with a translation of the original dialogues into another language. For now, users should be content with subtitles or download an amateur one-voiced translation. It is added as a modification and allows you to capture the essence of conversations in dynamic moments with the passage of tasks. Sounds in GTA San Andreas remain ideal for connoisseurs of all the subtleties of the English language.

Graphic design

The developers paid a lot of attention during the work on the project to the visual component. The last juices were squeezed out of the game engine. At the time of 2004, the style struck the eye, there were no similar works in the industry, given the scope of the free world. Graphics for GTA San Andreas has become native to users and causes nostalgia, not disgust.

Time went on, the fourth and fifth parts of the series appeared, but the moderators did not forget about this project. Rockstar Games has always had a positive attitude towards copyright modifications for their games. In the fifth part, special tools were provided for them. The authors worked in different directions, including graphics. On this moment players can greatly improve this aspect. Download textures for GTA San Andreas high resolution You can online, the main thing is to choose a reliable resource. They reduce the angularity of the polygons, tighten the color scheme, and the overall look becomes more pleasant.

After downloading, it is recommended to drive the updated transport around the cities for evaluation external changes. Roads for GTA San Andreas can be modified with modifications, HD coverage contributes to the desire to experience different types technology. The attention of the authors did not pass animation, they can be replaced by appropriate modifications. After that, you won’t want to skip the conversations in the cut-scenes instantly.

Equipment update

It's no secret that the love of users for San Andreas arose due to the variety of transport. In 2004, the ability to take control of any vehicle attracted attention, although it was not an innovation. This was implemented in the previous parts of the series. In this project, the car park has been significantly expanded. Players got access to passenger planes in GTA San Andreas, racing cars and other unique types of vehicles. From the height of 2018, the fleet of 211 looks impressive, but I want to improve the appearance of the cars. This was done by third-party modification manufacturers.

All vehicles in the game have an abstract appearance and only outwardly resemble the real prototypes. This is done to save on buying licenses from official manufacturers. With the help of mods, the player can replace the entire fleet. The creators of such content have worked hard to simultaneously improve the detail using high quality textures.

SAM OSA in GTA San Andreas

The interior and exterior are made with an eye to the original, the management has undergone correction. This is an additional load of new motorcycles in GTA San Andreas with cars. There is the possibility of simultaneous replacement using packs, or the player can make installations in turn. New models can be tuned in GTA San Andreas. To do this, it is recommended to download a mod that allows you to upgrade anywhere without leaving the vehicle.

Content of a different kind

There are other modifications in GTA San Andreas with automatic installation. Files with global content replacement gained the greatest attraction among players. The first such mod is the zombie apocalypse. The authors turned the state into an area of infection with an unknown virus. Players take control of a new hero. He must assemble a team of survivors to escape from the city.

The basic elements of survival have been added, according to the type of need to eat, drink, look for various items to help yourself. In the CIS, one of the most popular mods is considered to be "Criminal Russia". This file completely replaces the appearance of cities, adds new areas. The whole entourage is changing for Russia in the 90s. This applies to the countryside, transport and attractions. Fans of the original gameplay can download the Iron Man modification. CJ dresses up as this superhero and gets the ability to fly and fire missiles.

Release dates

The game's release date was changed to September 9, 2004, following the release of Take-Two's third quarter 2004 financial report. It was announced that the PlayStation 2 version would not be available until October 26, 2004 in North America, October 29 in Europe, and November 15 in Australia due to Rockstar taking time to remove questionable content that could result in restrictions on the sale of the game. Despite this, the Australian version was released on October 29 as a multilingual European PAL version. At the same time, Take-Two announced the Xbox and Xbox versions, targeting June 7, 2005 for release.

On the way home, CJ is stopped by a Los Santos police officer. Frank Tenpenny, Head of Special Operations Unit C.R.A.S.H. (acronym from English. C community R resources A gainst S treet H oodlums, literally Russian. Public resources against street hooligans; in the official Russian localization - Department of Combat organized crime ). Tenpenny accuses CJ of killing another C.R.A.S.H. Ralph Pendelbury, whom he himself eliminated after Pendelbury began to investigate Tenpenny's illegal activities. Subsequently, Tenpenny and his colleague Eddie Pulaski, blackmailing Carl with a trumped-up charge against him, force him to work for them, killing people who pose a threat to Tenpenny's criminal activities.

After a conversation in police car CJ is thrown into the middle of a hostile criminal district controlled by the African-American street gang Ballas. Since Carl represents his hometown Ganton gang, the Orange Grove Street, part of the Grove Street Families criminal alliance, the Ballas gangsters are his enemies.

Having safely reached the house of his family, CJ meets his old friend Melvin Harris, nicknamed Big Smoke(eng. Big Smoke) and goes with him to his mother's funeral.

At the cemetery, Carl meets his older brother Sweet, sister Kendl and old friend Lance Wilson, nicknamed Rider(eng. Ryder). Sweet from the very beginning behaves aggressively towards CJ, while Kendl is benevolent. Immediately after Carl's arrival, an argument breaks out between him and Sweet, and Kendl leaves, stating that he is going to see Cesar Vialpando- your boyfriend. As it turns out, Caesar is the ringleader of Grove Street's hostile Mexican gang, the Varrio Los Aztecas, and Sweet is strongly opposed to his relationship with Kendl. On the way back, Sweet, Big Smoke, Ryder and CJ are attacked by Ballas gangsters in a car, and they have to hurry back to their hometown on bicycles.

Further on the plot of the game, Karl begins to gradually become involved in the criminal activities of his gang, painting over the tags of enemy groups, participating in drive battles against the Ballas gangsters, stealing weapons for members of his gang and seizing the territories of the Ballas group and the Latin American gang Los Santos Vagos. Seeing CJ's significant contribution to the common cause, Sweet gradually softens towards Carl, and in the end, reconciliation takes place between the brothers.

At Sweet's request, Carl goes to a lowrider competition with Kendl's Mexican boyfriend. After CJ wins the competition, he meets with Cesar Vialpando, who offers him his friendship. It is Caesar who subsequently opens Carl's eyes to the betrayal of his old friends Big Smoke and Ryder, who have contacted the corrupt C.R.A.S.H. and a gang of his sworn enemies Ballas. On the day that Carl finds out about the betrayal, the Grove Street Families, led by Sweet, make another attack on the Ballas. To warn his brother, CJ rushes across the city to the scene of the shootout and finds Sweet injured. Carl enters into an unequal battle with a large gang of gangsters Ballas, knowing that any minute the police should arrive at the showdown site. At the moment when the bandits are surrounded by police, the gang members run away, and Carl is left with his wounded brother. They are arrested.

The suite is admitted to the prison hospital, while CJ remains at large, on the condition that he continue to work for Tenpenny and Pulaski. He is taken to the village, away from the Ballas and Big Smoke, where he runs Tenpenny's errands, gets acquainted with righteous, a white hippie whom Tenpenny buys drugs from, runs a race run by a Chinese Triad representative Wu Zi Mu(aka Woozy), meets with Caesar's cousin Catalina, a mentally ill person, with whom he commits several robberies, and in a short time they met, Catalina manages to fall in love with Karl, rape him and break off relations with him, leaving for Liberty City with a racer Claude at the end of Farewell My Love.

In the same mission, CJ wins the race with Claude and receives a garage in San Fierro as a prize. Only when he arrives at the place, Carl realizes that he was deceived - the garage is abandoned, full of junk and garbage, and only Kendl's intervention does not allow CJ to give it up. With the help of the Righteous, Carl manages to assemble a team to work in the garage, in the future he, along with Caesar, is also engaged in car theft. In San Fierro, as in Los Santos, there are gangs - these are the Chinese Triads and Vietnamese groups warring with them, as well as the Latin Americans of San Fierro Rifa.

During his stay in San Fierro, Carl helps his new friend Wu Zi Mu in a war against Vietnamese gangs and confronts a crime syndicate. "Loco", which involves his former sidekick Ryder. Gradually, CJ comes into the confidence of one of the members of the syndicate, a pimp jizzy b, then through it goes to other members - T-Bone Mendez and his partner Mike Toreno- an undercover agent of military counterintelligence, who disguises himself as a drug dealer for a syndicate. First, CJ eliminates Jizzy, then with the help of Caesar and the Chinese Triads led by Woozy, he disrupts the meeting of the Loko syndicate with the Big Smoke cartel, kills Ryder, Mendez and shoots down the helicopter with Toreno on board. It is assumed that Mike Toreno is dead, but he subsequently reappears, no longer as a drug dealer, but as a government agent for whom Carl works to free his brother.

Then, according to the plot of the game, Carl ends up in Las Venturas, an entertainment city deducted from Las Vegas. With a stake in the Wu Zi Mu Four Dragons casino, CJ helps the Triads deal with the Italian mafia, organizes and carries out a robbery of the rival Caligula casino. After completing Tenpenny's next assignment, the officer decides to get rid of Carl, but he survives and kills Officer Pulaski.

After his return to Los Santos, CJ finally manages to get Toreno to release his brother. Together with his brother, they go home to Grove Street, and find their native quarter in complete disrepair. Subsequently, the main character has to re-capture all enemy areas. Officer Tenpenny is arrested and tried, but acquitted due to lack of evidence (which he got rid of with Carl's help). This causes a riot in Los Santos (a reference to the Los Angeles riot). In the final part of the plot, CJ kills Big Smoke and, finally, the main antagonist of the game, Officer Tenpenny. Caesar Vialpando, with the assistance of Karl, who returned the ancestral territories to his gang, proposes to Kendl. CJ continues to take over territories so that the Ballas and Los Santos Vagos gangs will completely disappear.

Characters

A huge open game world and a variety of environments allowed the developers to include noticeably more styles and interesting stories, than in GTA III or Vice City that applies to the characters as well.

In the game world of San Andreas, there are a large number of street characters who can talk to each other and to Carl. Some characters are tied to locations such as slums, countryside, Chinatowns, or industrial areas. Also, each city has its own unique characters.

The main theme of the Los Santos phase of the game is the war of street gangs that fight for territory and influence in the city. One of these groups is the African-American gang Grove Street Families, which includes the main character CJ, his older brother Sean, who is the so-called Ou-Gi gangs, Ryder and Smoke, who later betrayed the gang, as well as several unnamed gangsters.

Grove Street Families is part of the African-American criminal alliance of the Families, but at the beginning of the game's plot, they are at odds with other gangs of the alliance. One of the first missions of the Los Santos phase of the game is to rescue Sweet from the gangsters of Seville Boulevard, who are also part of the Families. Their identification color is green.

African American Ballas Gang - sworn enemies Families Grove Street. Their identifying color is purple, and at the beginning of the game they can be found almost everywhere - they control all the criminal districts in the eastern part of the city, with the exception of Grove Street and Seville Boulevard, as well as several districts in the central part of Los Santos on Verona Beach. In addition, the Ballas sometimes appear in the territories of the Grove Street gangs and arrange gunfights with them.

The Hispanic gang Los Santos Vagos controls the Mexican neighborhoods in the north of Los Santos, as well as the eastern beach. Feuds with Grove Street and the Hispanic gang Varrio Los Aztecas. Members of this gang wear yellow bandanas.

The Hispanic gang Varrio Los Aztecas, led by CJ's friend and boyfriend Kendl Caesar Vialpando, controls several blocks in the southern part of the city. Members of Los Aztecas wear blue bandanas.

Gang members usually gather in their neighborhoods in groups of 3-4 people, drink alcohol, smoke cigars with "weed" and threaten passers-by firearms. At the sight of representatives of enemy gangs, they attack them. The gangsters of each of the factions have their own preferences regarding cars. So, the Ballas gangsters can only be seen driving Tahoma and Majestic cars, but in the missions of the game they use other cars (for example, in several missions, members of the Ballas gang move in a pink Voodoo car).

Gangs are also present in San Fierro, but they do not arrange firefights on the streets and behave quite calmly towards the main character. If CJ answers the question about belonging to any gang in the negative, they do not attack him.

The characters of the game, which are part of the plot, for the most part belong to the criminal world - these are, first of all, CJ's closest friends in the gang, an authoritative member of the Chinese Wu Zi Mu Triads, Mexican gangster and racing lover Caesar Vialpando, corrupt cops Tenpenny and Pulaski, influential representatives of drug cartels and mafia.

Voice acting

As in the previous two games, many prominent actors and musicians were involved in the voice acting of the game, who acted both as characters - leading and secondary, and as DJs for in-game radio stations. San Andreas also became the first game in the series where the characters made extensive use of strong profanity; this trend was subsequently continued in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.

Scene

The fictional state of San Andreas is mainly located in southern California and Nevada (USA) and includes three main cities. Las Venturas (and the surrounding desert) is based on Las Vegas and the Mojave Desert (Verdant Meadows aircraft graveyard, which is the prototype for Kingman Airport); Los Santos and the surrounding area are reminiscent of Los Angeles and the California wastelands; San Fierro is the equivalent of San Francisco. Players can climb the 800-meter Mount Chiliad (actually Mount Diablo), parachute from various hills and skyscrapers, and visit 12 towns and villages in three counties: Red County, Flint County county) and Bone County (eng. Bone county), a large dam with a hydroelectric power plant (based on the Hoover Dam, located on the border of the states of Arizona and Nevada), a huge secret military base called "Area 69" (an obvious allusion to the famous "Area 51" ), a radar installation and many other geographical points of interest. San Andreas occupies 36 km², which is almost four times the size of Vice City, and five times the size of Liberty City in Grand Theft Auto III.

Los Santos

Los Santos consists of 32 completely different districts, ranging from the poorest ghettoes with a high level of crime, to business districts with a large number of skyscrapers and expensive cars, in which there are television studios, an international airport. Since Los Angeles served as the basis for Los Santos in the setting, the game developers brought all the main reminders of the real city into it. So in it you can find: Watts Towers, the Los Angeles Exhibition Center, skyscrapers (the Capitol Records building and the US Bank Tower), the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Grumman cinema. The city is divided into several major neighborhoods, including crime-ridden Gunton, Idlewood, and East Los Santos (based respectively on the suburbs of Compton, Inglewood, and East Los Angeles). Also present is the bustling downtown area, the upscale Rodeo and Mulholland districts, and the gleaming Vinewood, based on the famous Hollywood. On the slope of one of the hills is a huge inscription "VINEWOOD", made in the same design as the inscription "HOLLYWOOD". There is also an industrial area "Ocean Docks" (Ocean Docks).

San Fierro

San Fierro is an interpretation of such famous places as Haight-Ashbury (“Hashbury”), Castro (“Queens”), Chinatown and the Golden Gate Bridge (“Gant Bridge”), the city also recreates the hilly terrain and the city's famous trams San Francisco . The city has other attractions, including the Embarcadero clock tower, the Transamerica Pyramid skyscraper (“Big Point Building”) and the curved Lombard Street (“Windy Windy Windy Windy Street”), as well as Scottish attractions, including the railway bridge "Forth Bridge" and automobile Forth Road Bridge(Oakland Bay Bridge in San Francisco). There is an area in the city called "Garcia", named after San Francisco-born leader of the Grateful Dead music group, Jerry Garcia, as well as a city hall building similar to that of San Francisco.

Las Venturas

In Las Venturas, the player can watch numerous casinos, and go to some and play in them. Games available include poker, roulette, blackjack, and slot machines. The game has the ability to bet on the results of the race (this mini-game is also available in other regions of San Andreas). In addition to the casinos, there are strip clubs in Las Venturas. The most famous Las Vegas casinos have been moved to Las Venturas in detail; among them are the Camelot Casino (“Come-a-Lot”), the Sphinx and the neighboring hotel in the form of an Egyptian pyramid - “Luxor” (“The Camel's Toe”), as well as the “Pioneer Club”, where the famous neon advertising signs in the form of a cowboy and a girl, replaced by developers with characters GTA: Vice City- Avery Carrington and Candy Sachs respectively.

Gameplay

Gameplay structure GTA: San Andreas similar to the previous two games in the series. The main action consists of elements of a third-person action and car simulator in a large and open to explore game world. Outside of a vehicle, the player-controlled protagonist can walk, run, jump, climb, and swim (the last 2 features are new to the series), as well as use weapons and hand-to-hand combat. Players can steal and use a wide variety of vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, mopeds, ATVs, bicycles, boats, airplanes, helicopters, hovercraft, trains, and even a jetpack.

open world allows players to freely travel and choose what they will do in San Andreas. In order to complete the game and open access to new cities, it is necessary to complete story missions, otherwise they are optional and can be completed at any time. Outside of missions, the player is free to act, and can commit many illegal activities. real world actions: kill passers-by and police officers, rob them, blow up cars, etc. However, such actions attract the attention of the authorities, and law enforcement officers begin to hunt for the main character. The more crimes a player commits, the more forces are involved in his detention: small offenses are tried to settle by the local police, while more high levels the search for a criminal is met by special forces and even military units with the support of heavy armored vehicles and air escort in the form of police helicopters.

Also, the player can explore the possibilities of the game by finding secrets from the developers, play mini-games and complete side missions. The non-plot tasks traditional for the series were included in GTA: San Andreas- the player can work as a taxi driver, delivering passengers, become a fireman and put out burning cars, deliver injured people to the hospital, and fight crime as a fighter for justice. For the successful completion of tasks, the main character receives a reward. New missions have also appeared (including the professions of a truck driver, train driver and courier, requiring the player to deliver cargo in a limited time), as well as schools for driving a car and a motorcycle, piloting and driving boats, which help players acquire the skills necessary to use the appropriate transport.

Wanted levels

Unlike previous games in the GTA series, San Andreas any number of Wanted Stars is automatically reduced by one (hereinafter referred to as "Avoiding the Chase") if the player successfully hides from the police. Also, changing clothes removes any, even the maximum, number of stars. While in air transport, it is impossible to escape the pursuit of any level of wanted. Any wanted level is removed by repainting the car or changing clothes. Police officers in San Andreas do not use "hedgehogs" to puncture tires, unlike other games in the 3D universe (the spikes are available to the player for use in the "Stab Wounds" mission during the San Fierro stage of the game). Police officers can put up barriers on the roads from cars with a certain wanted level. For the first time in the history of the GTA series, cops can chase the player on HPV1000 motorcycles and also shoot at them.

The PC versions of the game, as well as the portable edition, contain an additional radio station that can play MP3 music uploaded by the user to a special directory.

Crossovers with other games in the series

Lots of characters, locations and fictional elements from previous entries in the series Grand Theft Auto mentioned in GTA: San Andreas. Most of them have been slightly modified to take into account the time that has passed before and after the events of those games. Action GTA: Vice City happened before the events San Andreas and therefore references to this game are most often found, however, many moments are reminiscent of GTA III.

Also in the game there is a story of acquaintance of Claude - the main character grand theft Auto III with his mistress Catalina, who betrays him at the beginning GTA III, which ultimately sets the picture of the plot action in the latter. In addition, the game has some heroes from vice city Story by: Ken Rosenberg San Andreas- the manager of Caligula's casino, and before that - a friend and lawyer of the protagonist GTA: Vice City Tommy Vercetti, mentioned in the mission "Meat Business"; British sound engineer Kent Paul and his assistant Macker, as well as Salvatore Leone - the head of a mafia family from GTA III and his girlfriend Maria. From vice city in San Andreas returned mechanics Dwayne and Jethro, who were former boat shop workers in Vice City, and after the acquisition of the last Tommy Vercetti, moved to San Andreas; in San Fierro, they undertake to help Carl in his new garage. Also in the Zero store on the shelves you can see figures of characters from Vice City" with screenshots. However, all the evidence turned out to be fake. There were also less well-known myths (about the presence in the game of the Loch Ness monster, a certain “ serial killer”, the ghost of Carl Johnson’s mother, as well as mysteries related to wheelchair on the pier of the lake, in the village of Palomino Creek), also did not receive any reliable confirmation. The only "mysteries" really revealed in the game were the so-called "ghost car" - an effect seen in Back o' Beyond and caused by the developers placing an empty car (with default damage) on a hillside (resulting in from a certain angle, you can see how it slides down by itself) and the Epsilon cult, which is still being actively studied by many gamers.

In 2015, the film "Tipping Point" about the legal feud between Rockstar Games and lawyer Jack Thompson was released, which, among other things, described the history associated with the Hot Coffee mod.
