Important: Coming out mid-summer 2019 new patch and the mods installation folder will change, now they need to be installed in the WOT/res_mods/1.5.1/ and WOT/mods/1.5.1/ folders. X-ray is a very old, but damn popular cheat that removes the developer's restriction on showing the contours of enemy vehicles.

Why was X-ray banned for 1.5.1.1?

Almost immediately after the appearance of X-ray, the developers banned it, because in their opinion it gives a great advantage. The fact is that when playing without mods, the outline of the vehicle is visible through obstacles only for allied vehicles, to activate the outlines of the enemy, you need to aim at him. If the sight is not aimed, and the tank is behind cover, then only the marker will be visible. With the help of X-ray, this restriction is removed and the stroke is always visible at all, the main thing is that the enemy is within the range of your tank's view.

You can specify the following settings in the mod_ws_xray.xml file:

  • the color of the contours of allied and enemy tanks in the scope;
  • color of rivals without a scope;
  • cheat activation key (by default it is active, you can turn it off with the Numpad6 button).

Always visible outlines (strokes) for 1.5.1.1 are best used in conjunction with another cheat - . It can capture targets behind obstacles, and it is in this case that X-ray will be useful, because it will be possible to see the entire enemy tank.

X-ray installation

  • First, open the archive with the mod and select the stroke color you like.
  • After that, we move the scripts folder here: World_of_Tanks/ res_mods/[patch number].

This mod allows you to very well follow all the movements of the enemy, even if you are not in your line of sight, behind a mountain or a house, you will always see the outline of the enemy tank within your line of sight. Allows you to see where the enemy is looking and his further movement on the map.

X-ray turns on and off the mod by pressing Num pad 1(one which is on the side keyboard).

You can change X-ray settings by opening the file World_of_Tanks\res_mods\0.9.18\scripts\client\mods\ZJ_Mods\xml\ZJ_Contour_Look.xml via NotePad++ and edit it.

The file will help you configure the following functions:

  • enabling the mod by default,
  • display only in sniper mode,
  • there is no x-ray closer than the distance ... meters,
  • no x-ray beyond the distance ... meters,
  • color setting in RGBA system,
  • x-ray color,
  • enemy color,
  • ally color,
  • key to turn off the mod.

In general, the X-ray mod will also help any player in the game with the right settings.

It generally gives experienced players a huge advantage in the game in choosing a position and in further movement around the map, choosing weak spots in the defense of the enemy.

Emphasizing the contour of the tank is very convenient when shooting, allowing you to clearly aim.

Mod X-ray is considered prohibited and you can get banned for it. You use it at your own risk.

Features and benefits of using the modification

If you do not use amateur modifications, then the enemy's outline is activated only when you are brought to the tank. In other cases, a marker is simply lit over the cars. This is not very convenient if the enemy is behind some kind of obstacle, such as a house. Or behind dense vegetation. You have to focus solely on the marker, and since the shooting is carried out in advance, the contour is lost.

Mod decides this problem and activates always-visible outlines to make your game more comfortable. Now you will see the outline of the car that is hidden behind the obstacle!
