Note: This quest will give you an excellent opportunity to learn all the weapons that can be changed in the base camp right in the middle of the quest. So you will be able to choose the most suitable weapon for yourself.

When fighting these monsters, the main thing is to avoid their running attacks. After killing the whole herd, talk to the head hunter, who will ask you to help him in the investigation.

As a result, a simple hunt for Kestodon will smoothly flow into your first encounter with a large monster - Big Jagras. Once in the 12th sector, you will see how the monster devours the herbivore. Then you can either return to the city, or take on a new task.

Once you've been able to track down and kill the large monster, a new cutscene will play, in which Poki Poki comes into contact with a strange looking rock. The group decides to first return to the city to inform the leaders about what they saw, and only then to investigate this event.

Acquaintance with the expedition and the Feathered Robber

After returning to Astera, you will learn that you need to create more camps in the Ancient Forest in order to continue exploring the location. This can be done in Expedition mode - free play, in which you can do whatever your heart desires, without any time limits. You can hunt any creatures, collect resources or just explore new lands. True, some monsters will only be available for hunting for a certain period of time.

Note: Thanks to expeditions, you can fight several monsters at once without having to leave the location, and collect tons of materials that may be useful to you in the future.

During the expedition, look for a hunter located in the northeast corner of the map in sector 12. He will tell you about a location where you can create another camp. Upon arrival there, you will find Kulu-ya-ku, who decided to build a new nest here. After a short cut-scene, you will be able to start hunting this large monster.

Kulu-ya-ku is a fairly simple monster. Most of his attacks deal minor damage, so killing him shouldn't cause you any problems. AT certain moment he can pull a cobblestone out of the ground and start swinging it in all directions. Hit the stone to make the bird throw it away. Urgent: Pokey Pokey Hunt

To further study the lava slag found during the Big Jagras hunt, the scientists will ask you to catch a Pokey Pokey. Follow to zone 2 - there you will find jagras, small dinosaurs of yellow and blue color. They need to kill 7 pieces. Since there are a lot of them, try to run all the time around the perimeter of the location, periodically dealing 1-2 hits to the nearest monster, and then dodge. Continue until you kill enough individuals. Jagras can at some point hide in their cave - be careful here, because. there they constantly spawn. After completing the quest conditions, you will have only one minute to collect loot, after which you will automatically teleport to Astera.

Kestodon Brawl / Big Jagras Hunt

Let's go on a mission again. This time it is necessary to kill three males and five females of Kestodon. These are brown lizards with pronounced frontal bone growths. Females are smaller in size and less pronounced growths. Since their head is pretty well protected, try to deal damage in unprotected areas. The most optimal moment is when the male makes a jerk, jump back in time and attack the body from the side. You will find the first group in zone 1, on the plain closest to the camp. The second group will be a little further by the water - follow the fireflies.

When you kill all the kestodons required for the assignment, a larger monster will appear - a large jagras. You can immediately go hunting for him or return to Astera and take this task. Follow the trail - each collected trail gives points. The higher the level of research of a particular monster, the easier it is to detect it. A fight with a large jagras, like with any other large monster, will consist of several stages, when the monster will run away to another location. Always follow the fireflies and don't forget to increase your research level by finding monster tracks.

The big jagras attacks with its claws, tail, and also uses jerks. Dodge in time, and this enemy will not cause many problems. Of the weak points, he has a head, chest and front paw. Most susceptible to fire, immune to water. Of the negative statuses, it is susceptible to everything: poisoning, sleep, paralysis, explosion and stun. In the beta, everything was confusing and looked ambiguous. The good news is that the definitive edition gradually brings you up to speed, implementing one system after another, allowing you to understand everything. However, even this approach does not make Monster Hunter: World an intuitive game.

First choose a weapon

It's easy to explain the principle of Monster Hunter in a nutshell - go hunting, kill small creatures, equip yourself better and go to destroy more formidable opponents. However, if you divide the game into parts, then it will turn out to be much more difficult. The first thing to do is choose a weapon. There are 14 types of weapons to choose from, all of which were in previous games in the series. Each weapon has its own star rating, which indicates how easy it will be for a beginner to handle.

In addition, the weapons are divided according to severity - there are larger exhibits, such as large Ole swords and axes, but there are also more sophisticated options, including a two-handed glaive. There is also a ranged weapon to attack monsters from a distance. good weapon for beginners there will be a long sword, a bunch of sword and shield paired swords and a light crossbow.

You can head to your room to access the training ground. This will allow you to try out weapons, as well as explore all available combos, tips for which will appear on the screen. It definitely needs to be done at least once.

Find best weapons and armor

Once you start killing monsters, you'll want to visit the workshop where you can craft the best equipment from their remains. Of course, the weapon upgrade tree is much more complex, but first you need to remember one thing - there are no useless upgrades! There is no need to spend a lot of time choosing a more important upgrade, since each of them will bring its own benefits.

Armor is easier - it does not have an improvement system. You simply create the best armor possible based on the collected monster parts. On the other hand, armor has a large number of parameters that need to be dealt with gradually, but in the early stages, focus on the equipment that has the highest protection rating.

Eat before or during every hunt

Food, which can be bought or crafted in the canteen under the direction of the One-Eyed Cat, grants a boost to health, attack, defense, and more. As you progress in the game, the food will improve. In addition, you can eat food by the fire by organizing camping in the field. Items for crafting

During the journey, you will collect many plants, insects, mushrooms and other ingredients. All this can be used to create useful items that will provide an advantage in battle - for example, a potion that improves strength, or an antidote that cures diseases. You can do this at any location through the appropriate menu or by standing near the item box and using the crafting list. The last one is the easiest. There is also an auto-creation feature that is active from the very beginning of the game. Whenever you pick up ingredients for a potion or other normal item, the game will automatically create them (if the right amount is collected).

Use the map

The map in Monster Hunter: World is the most useful tool. As you explore a new location, it fills up with various markers that indicate where rally points, monsters, camps, and anything else that might come in handy while traveling are located. Look at her as often as possible.

Find time for research

After the first hour of play (or so) you will be able to go on expeditions. This is the free travel mode in Monster Hunter: World. There are no goals or time limits, and you are free to explore the world around you, avoid or fight monsters. Definitely worth spending time on. Tracking monsters

A slinger is a versatile tool that can be used as a crossbow or a grappling hook. As ammunition, objects scattered on locations are used - stones, seeds, moss. The slinger will be loaded with the last ammo that is picked up. Typically, this weapon won't do much damage to a monster, but is a useful tool for exploring the environment.

Look around to see grappling points, hanging rocks that can be shot at or thrown at a monster, or traps that can be activated by firing a rock, such as plants that exude poison. If you need to get past the monster, then you can distract it by shooting any projectile at the wall.

The hunt begins with preparation

Veteran Monster Hunters will be happy to know that it is no longer necessary to fill your inventory with a fishing rod, monster net, pickaxe or barbecue. All these items will always be with you and do not take up space in your inventory. Parts of the monsters are also returned to the base. Therefore, after the destruction of the monster, you do not have to throw away several previously collected mushrooms in order to pick up the dropped reward.

This means that your bag now has more space for various gadgets, potions and traps. Literally on every hunt, you need to take potions and cook meat, which will restore, for example, HP and stamina.

When doing this, do not forget to use a net to catch small insects and animals. Believe me, you will want to collect a complete collection of all creatures.

How to ride monsters

Jump from a high point and hit the monster. In this case, there is a chance to saddle him! Riding a monster that will do its best to throw the hero off its hump looks funny and exciting - this is one of the most exciting actions in the game. Also, if you hold out long enough, you'll get a chance to perform a spectacular finishing move.

The Palico is a friendly cat that accompanies you on every quest. You can equip him with weapons and armor. In addition, the Palico will also have its own useful gadget. Visit your room

I didn't visit my room for the first ten hours of the game. Talk to all the characters that have "yellow exclamation marks" above their heads. They give you additional quests, which usually open some useful features or items.

Do not disable interface features

It can be tempting to turn off any interface features that obscure the view of colorful waterfalls and other elements of nature. You don't need to do this, at least not for the first few hours of the game. Every detail of the interface gives you important information.

Always complete assignments from the resource center

In the resource center you can take simple side quests(hunting one large monster, completing quests in the Ancient Forest, collecting five plants, etc.) that you will passively complete by completing the main storyline. Each time you do this, you will be rewarded with armor orbs that improve it. They are really helpful. Make sure to return to the resource center after completing a series of quests to pick up new side quests.

The difference between quests and expeditions

Quests are missions with a limited time to complete and a fixed goal. Usually we are talking about hunting one or more monsters, collecting plants, or killing a few small creatures. Usually, they are given 50 minutes to complete, and after three deaths, the task will fail altogether. There is story quests, at the end of which you usually fight a big monster. There are side quests that you take from the characters at the base, allowing you to, for example, unlock new ingredients for the dining room, gadgets, etc.

Expeditions are not limited in time - you just go to one of the available locations and explore it. You can do whatever you want - hunt for a big monster, look for new base camps, collect plants or fish.

Research is an optional objective for expeditions that offer better rewards. You pick them up at the resource center.

Farm monsters

Let's say you just killed Anjanath, but now you want to get the full set of his armor. You cannot repeat story quests in the game! Take a look at additional missions and find those that will send you in search of just the same Anjanath. Browse the available research in the resource center and you're sure to find one. Or just go on an expedition and find the monster yourself - this is the worst option, since you will not receive additional rewards. Finally, you can fight any monster in the Arena. To gain access, go to the upper part of the base, to the "Conference Hall".

Gadgets and robes

No need to focus too much on gadgets and robes. These useful items will be unlocked as you work your way through the story and complete optional quests. One of the early game robes (Ghillie Mantle) hides the main character from the monsters, which will be very useful. At the beginning of the game, you will also receive a gadget that restores health. More advanced versions of these tools will unlock later in the storyline.

Group hunting increases the monster's HP

Just select a quest on the board, after which any gamer will be able to join you if you have not made it private. Be careful: the monsters in this case will have much more HP. This additional health pool will be the same regardless of the number of hunters - two, three or four players. This leads to the fact that it will be almost impossible to complete group tasks together. The worst scenario that can happen in this case is that you start the game with three or four hunters, but for some reason all your partners drop out of the game and you go to a rendezvous with a monster with a lot of HP. Perhaps this problem will be fixed in one of the future patches.

Plot

When you see the first of the three ropes, immediately cling to it, and so, jumping from rope to rope, you can get over to the shore. Continue moving to the right, jumping over obstacles in the water. After passing a series of such obstacles, you must jump into the water, the flow of which will carry you into another tunnel. As soon as you jump out of this tunnel, jump along the vertical streams of water to the left, and you will get out to the exit of this waterfall. Go left and enter the first door. There you will see vending machine with hearts and an old man.
After the necessary actions, get out of here and go left to the abyss. Jump into it and you will fight giant ostrich. To defeat this ostrich, you must catch up with him and try to hit him with a sword more often, otherwise you will have to additionally fight small malicious birds that breed quite quickly. When you are done with ostrich, a passage will open on the right. After going there, you will see five torches. Blow out the second and fourth, and the door will open on the left. Enter it and go left to a large room filled with water. Platforms will fly above the surface of the water: jumping on them and collecting coins, make your way to the next rooms. Then jump into the water, and a stream of air will carry you through the pipes. Jump out when possible (from the left edge) and jump back into the water. When you are taken out into the left tunnel and pulled down, press Up and call kitten (A).
Jump to the left and put out the torch. Jump back, put out another torch and the air from the new pipe will carry you to the exit. First, go left to the first door, enter it, go right to the abyss, jump over the abyss and open the chest, which contains stone lion idol. Jump into the abyss, go all the way to the left and enter the door.
