Client Races. Multiplayer games Racing GAMES Client games car racing

Among MMO games, online racing are the smallest genre. There will be no more than a dozen worthy projects, and those that are presented in Runet can generally be counted on the fingers. This is due to the complexity of development. Indeed, for online racing, one multiplayer is not enough, you need to make a single game world in which it would be interesting for users to be. Not the last role in the absence worthy projects play the high costs of developers for car licensing. Only very large and successful companies can afford to create expensive games that are mostly free. At the same time, online races are not only not inferior to their offline counterparts, but in many ways they are superior in terms of the quantity and quality of content.

Many call APB: Reloaded online GTA version. Such conversations are connected with the fact that David Jones, the man who stood at the origins of the series, was involved in this project. grand theft Auto. In APB, as in any other MMO game, the main intrigue is connected with the confrontation between warring factions, in this case, criminals and law enforcers. If the security forces are trying to maintain order in the city, then the main goal of the criminals is to shake this order. Who to join? The decision is yours.

The latest project that the development team from Eutechnyx worked on was called Auto Club Revolution. ACR is an online racing simulator and a car maniac's dream come true. Each car featured in the game is licensed and has a real production prototype meticulously recreated in great detail.

For those who are not aware of Metal War Online, this is a racing online arcade with fighting. Its closest relatives, in terms of genre, are the award-winning World of Tanks and the Twisted Metal series, with the proviso that in Metal War Online we drive not tanks, but futuristic vehicles that have no real prototypes.

Racing is a super popular genre computer games, which appeared more than 35 years ago. One of the brightest representatives of racing is the world famous NFS. Of course, online client racing is something completely new, unusual and interesting. Here you compete not with computer opponents, whose actions are calculated to the smallest detail by a soulless machine, but with the same living people as you are.

As a result, online client racing offers much more dynamic gameplay, a lively PC game atmosphere and a full range of upgrades for your virtual car. Buy new parts, install accelerators, tune your car the way you want.

Of course, online client races are not limited to the classics of the racing genre. On our site you can find quite non-standard games, where the main goal is to destroy the enemy's car. The set of weapons and means for this is more than impressive.

Most players do not know how important racing games were in video game history. All the way back to the 1970’s when video games were large physical arcade machines, racing games were pushing the limits of what was possible in video games.

In early racing games, developers introduced new game play mechanics like the scrolling levels later adopted in other game genres. First person driving games were also invented early on during the historical racing game era.

The inventions happening within all the emerging car games of the 1980’s brought players even more creative game play mechanics. This is when "radar" was created. The mini map showed the direction of other players. This system to help players navigate continued evolving to support more complex game worlds.

In the 1990’s, Nintendo consoles paved the way for new sub genres of racing games like kart racing. Instead of arcade style racing or racing simulators of the past, these games featured fun power-ups like turtle shells. The wacky power-ups changed how racing games could be played, adding more offensive options to the traditional time challenge of racing.

In the 2000's, console platforms continued to push the limits of what was possible in racing game worlds. Improved 3D graphics and much bigger open worlds evolved racing games to the next level. Racing could be mapped to city streets in open worlds. The large worlds in turn opened the door for shortcuts that were not possible since the arcade era of racing games.

Since the old times, the internet has made racing games a free for all as many genre options are available today. From arcade style, to simulation, 2D side-scrolling, and way more sub genres. Online racing games offer many vehicle types to choose from, like bikes, motorbikes, jet skies, and boats. I would say the sky "s the limit but I think developers will dream up even more new ways to race.

Every day I see a familiar picture: cars are lined up in long chains, drivers are waiting tensely for the bumper in front to move a few centimeters, and passers-by easily and naturally overtake the unfortunate on footpaths. Traffic jams are the driver's hell.

Of course, such “unforgettable” sensations are not mentioned to drivers in advertising brochures, they are not written in magazines, they are not warned at the dealership before buying a car. Traffic doesn't care what car you have, what time you need to get to work, or how much money you have in your bank account. Only here the killed six can overtake the body of the 911th German with a 600 horsepower bi-turbo engine. It's embarrassing, right? However, should we be sad.

Watching drivers locked in traffic jams dream of free roads, I wanted to shake the old days and ride with the breeze. Why not? There is no need to buy a car, there is no need to breathe exhaust gases either - the smell of aromatic coffee on the desktop will create a more pleasant atmosphere. And, of course, the choice of routes is not limited to one Volgogradsky prospect. The only thing left to do is to find suitable races.

For some reason, the legendary Need for Speed Underground, which set the urban trend for all subsequent NFS series. Along with it, trips along rural roads, views of elephant-filled beaches, endless desert landscapes, small towns on highways, golden alleys of trees with rustling foliage and a captivating feeling of unity with nature are gone. This was replaced by the concrete urban jungle. A pleasant exception was NFS The Run, but critics successfully buried him for the lack of a well-thought-out script and a too straightforward plot.

At first glance, NFSU is what you need, except for a small fly in the ointment - you need to spend your hard-earned money on acquiring a client. This slight misunderstanding could be circumvented by going in search of the coveted disc, bought 100,500 years ago, but that was not the case. Not only is the chance to find such a small item after repair very illusive, the disc could be given to one of the friends out of the kindness of their hearts. Of course, I didn't remember who. A small fly in the ointment turned into a huge toad, which slowly but surely began to choke me. My suffering was short lived. Looking ahead, I will say that everything ended well. I'm alive and well. The toad turned out to be powerless against the adherent of free 2 play.

Go looking for “MMO racing” games! Today, wherever you look, everywhere they offer to download F2P MMORPG. Since there is an RPG, then there must be racing somewhere nearby.

According to the foreign online press, the list of the most popular “MMO racing” is as follows:

  • RayCity
  • Heat Online(aka Speed Online in RUS, aka Project Torque in US, aka Level-R in EU)

Titles are written in random order without ranking. I will separate the flies from the cutlets a little later. First, let's see what is available without shamanism using a proxy and VPN. After all, this is an additional line of expenses that is not included in my plans.

Of the entire list, two games turned out to be unsuitable.

RayCity is the brainchild of Seoul studio EA. The game client is available only in Thai localization with occasional inserts of translation into English language. Apparently, in the “distant” Thai future (there is now 2555, by the way), English has lost its relevance so much that it is customary to sign the most unnecessary interface elements on it. They won't be read in Thai anyway, so why not sign them in English?

Trackmania is a game, before the launch of which they forgot to write in capital letters: “ATTENTION! ONLY FOR ASMONATES!”. My vestibular apparatus is not able to endure the insane acrobatic somersaults of cars on futuristic tracks. Have you ever played PinBall? There, the ball, like crazy, flies all over the playing field, bouncing off all sorts of obstacles. So, TM is a game for those who wanted to feel like this ball, not a driver racing car. I had to cross it off the list.

Let's go back to the remaining candidates.

Need for Speed World. Good old NFS, only with MMO sauce. At least that's what the developers promise. I want to believe.

The first few minutes after launching the client are spent on a standard set of routine actions: choosing a driver name, avatar, car, setting up control keys and graphics. All formalities are observed. Hooray! You can get into the car and escape from the boring hangar towards adventures with indispensable speeding. Here it is, a wonderful life without traffic jams, without having to stand in line at the gas station, without the familiar pothole that I was tormented to go around when leaving the house, without motorcyclists roaring cocurrent through the open window, without fear of parting with a round sum of cash for an accidental kiss on the rear bumper in front standing slowpoke. Story! On this uplifting note, I am brought back to earth. Wanted adventure? Ride a couple of circles in the training race. Hm. Adventures after training. OK. It's not difficult for me.

The introduction was very short. They put me in the car, showed me how to steer, where the gas is, where the brake is, everything else was left for independent study. I didn’t even want to spend time on such a “complicated” tutorial, but according to the laws of meanness, you can’t skip it.

The winners of the training race get into the game world - a small, deserted town. The most appropriate description is the ghost of Detroit, in the setting of the city from the second Underground. The world promised in the title turned out to be very modest. Why is the game called that? Mystery. Let's write off a cunning marketing ploy. Could then, for completeness, add the track “ the world is not enough.”

Finally, you can fully concentrate on the road. For twenty minutes I flew low through the streets, practiced making controlled skids, admired the good physics, the detailed rendering of the car, explored the surroundings and the players' hangouts. Unfortunately, the pleasure of aimless driving quickly ended. I wanted more: a cooler car, try other racing modes, see what they offer in quests. I had no idea what a disappointment awaited me.

The hard truth is that NFSW is sorely lacking in content. There is absolutely nothing to do in the game. The number of all game modes can be counted on the fingers. Where did everything that was developed in the single versions of NFS go? In the two years of its existence, the game has not had any significant changes. Only for the 2 year anniversary, the developers decided to add a drag racing mode. If it took 2 years to transfer the dredge from the Underground, then wait a couple more years for the drift? Affairs with story quests the situation is even worse - they simply do not exist.

It remains to be hoped that the management of EA will begin to treat their MMO brainchild more seriously and will begin to catch up with leaps and bounds. Until that happens, NFSW has nothing to oppose to its competitors, except for good graphics and a bunch of licensed car models.

drift city- can be called without exaggeration the pioneer of the MMO racing genre. The release took place in 2007. The first thing that catches your eye is the unusual graphics. As if the black and white world of a futuristic manga was transferred from paper pages to multi-colored virtual world. Now everyone can get into it with one click from their desktop. In fact, this lyrical digression about the manga is not so far from the truth. From the very first race, the player becomes part of the events unfolding around the little-studied energy source Mitron, which has forced the usual carbon fuel out of the market. All storylines and questlines will be somehow connected with this mysterious fuel. You can read more about the history of the world and much more at.

As usual, all newcomers get cars of the lowest class. I was no exception. I was given a Nissan 240SX, which proudly bears the name Drifter V1 in the game. Naturally, you want to immediately transfer to the Nissan GTR, but a drifter will do. The main thing is to quickly released on the track.

Drawn graphics mixed with real car models create a very strange impression. As if on the road is not a real car, but a toy plastic dummy. Management is appropriate. Physics and effects are done in best traditions arcade games. Any collision of the car with an obstacle is accompanied by an indispensable flash and a sound signal, with a sharp turn the wheels will leave a spectacular plume of cardboard smoke on the pavement, and when using the boost, the car turns into a low-flying rocket. But that's not all. When you try to fix the car, a man in a spiderman costume jumps on the hood with a key in his hands, who performs repairs right on the go!

A bit different from what I expected, but arcade fans should like it. You won't get bored at DC. Dozens of various tasks with a very good reward await on every street of the city. One day there is a chance to be a courier, patrol, special agent, taxi driver. If you are tired of quests, you can earn goodies just by riding around the city. Prizes are awarded for performing special combo moves: drifting, driving in the opposite direction, ski jumping. Extra items will always find their place at the auction.

The game has what NFSW lacks so much, but the strong arcade slant isn't to everyone's taste. Fans of more realistic racing should take a closer look at Auto Club Revolution.

Auto Club Revolution- the most innovative races in terms of the implementation of the social component. It's no secret that without the ability to interact and communicate with other players, there would be no MMO games. In most races, special locations, the so-called lobbies, are reserved for these purposes. As a rule, this is a spacious hangar, accommodating several kiosks providing all kinds of services and options provided by the game, as well as a large area for parking cars where drivers share breaking news waiting for the next ride. Having tried a couple of three games, you quickly get used to the presence of such a lobby. It would seem that you can come up with a replacement for him? The ACR team has the answer to this question.

What sites do people interact with the most? That's right, social media. Social networks are an inexhaustible source of new friends and acquaintances, millions of hours of live communication per day and, in combination, an immense advertising platform for promoting goods and services. If you want to be successful, sooner or later, roads will lead to social networks. Sounds intriguing?

After launching the game client, it folds into a tiny icon next to the clock. There is neither the usual splash screen, nor the authorization form, nor any interesting background. There is nothing. Nothing happens. That is, nothing at all. Although I'm lying, the icon will change its color to green a little later. No matter how much you look at the icon, the game itself will not start. Here a major surprise awaited me.

The guys from ACR decided to outdo everyone at once, making the usual lobby in the form of a website! In fact, the game controls are taken from the good old client to the site. The game is also launched from the site, but only for the duration of the race. A very unusual solution. It turns out that on one browser tab you can midit on Facebook, and on the second one you can discuss the results of the last race or prepare the car for the next race. Integration with social networks works wonders. Almost records of the best races can be posted on your page on the social network.

Unfortunately, it has not been without drawbacks. To use all the features, you need to install additional software for the browser. And, of course, my “favorite” drawback is the problem with data synchronization between the client and the site. In an unequal battle with me, he won a landslide victory, and ACR lost another player.

HEAT Online- one of the most successful games of its genre. At some point, it was presented in several versions at once: for the States, Europe and Russia. Perhaps someone else remembers their names: “Project Torque” (US), “Level-R” (EU) and “Speed Online” (RUS). After a protracted struggle between the first two for the same players, it was decided to restart the English versions under the new name HEAT Online. I can't say that I'm happy about it, but at least it looks logical. The Russian-language version was less fortunate - it was simply closed, though they gave everyone the opportunity to transfer their account to HEAT. Apparently, these are the harsh realities of the Russian gaming industry. Online racing we have a hard time.

It took a couple of minutes to download and install the client. An interesting find saved a lot of time - registration right in the game. Each newcomer is given a compact runabout as a gift. I got something similar to Lada Kalina. The first impression of the controls is very good. The car looks like a car, its dimensions, mass, inertia are felt when cornering. If you give more gas at the wrong moment, the rear axle will certainly go into a skid under the spectacular roar of the engine. Racing-level physics without the pretensions of a hardcore simulator, but without going to extremes, as is done in Drift City.

NFSW is HO's main competitor. The two games are similar, like the Seam twins, but each has its own character and distinctive features. Since there is very little content in NFSW, it will be easier for me to say what is in HEAT and not in NFS.

The lobby is similar to NFSW in the form of a city, but there are several differences. Firstly, the streets are not designed for racing, only for singles. daily quests. Secondly, the size and drawing of the city is somewhat inferior to NFS, but there are pedestrians on the streets :) The rest of the differences are so insignificant that you should not focus on them.

Actually racing. Money for the first improvement of your car is easily earned by completing simple tasks for the transportation of passengers. They pay generously, after some 20-30 minutes you can go to the store for a set of new parts. A new body kit and a couple of improvements will give solidity and hide the VAZ past of the car. In this form, it is no longer a shame to compete with other players. There are several modes to choose from: VS, Drift, CTF, Thunder Alley (TA) (NASCAR), SUMO, Explorer. The first three modes are clear without comment, but for the rest it is worth saying a few words.

Thunder Alley (TA) - circuit racing stock cars better known as NASCAR. Adrenaline in its purest form. From the outside it may seem that these are tedious cutting of the same circles. In fact, not everything is so simple. The outcome of the race entirely depends on 2 things: the correctness of the chosen strategy and the accuracy of its implementation. It is worth forgetting to refuel - you will have to run to the finish line on foot. Trying to join the main group after a pitstop can end up picking up parts from your car all over the track if the exit speed is too low. The beauty of this mode is in its details and nuances. Casuals have no place here. The following mod is suitable for them.

explorer- A fun and casual collection of items scattered around the map. The one who collected the most wins. A great way to cool off after 100 plus first attempt at gold in the next stage of the singles race. By the way, gold. It's good that I remembered. About him a little lower.

SUMO- You already understood everything, right? Imagine yourself as a huge fat man, then, at the signal of the referee, begin to push your opponents out of the circle. Everything is simple. Of course, in the case of cars, the circle will be a little larger, but the essence of this does not change. The winner is the one who pushes the most cars into the cliff. Cute, but too arcade.

For novice players like me, the singleplayer mode is ideal for getting to know all the features of the game, as well as training before a fight with a real opponent. I myself did not expect such amazing perseverance from myself, demonstrated for the sake of gold in the race against time. The race started again twenty times. With each subsequent attempt, the mistakes became less and less: I learned to choose the right angle of attack before entering the turn, stopped recklessly stepping on the gas before the fork, used nitro immediately after entering the straight. Of course, there was an opportunity to lower the bar to silver or bronze, but I “I want zoito” ©. I'm glad my efforts were rewarded.

On this pleasant note, one could say “smack everyone in this chat”, wave your hand and quietly leave. Although no, taking this opportunity, you should convey a few words to relatives:

- Mom, if you suddenly read this, hello! I will definitely help you hang curtains :)

Well, seriously, the conclusions are quite disappointing. The current situation with f2p MMO racing looks extremely depressing. The patient is more dead than alive. The number of races for which I would like to spend at least a couple of evenings can be listed on the fingers. The players have almost no alternative. The only decent game is HEAT Online, but it is already starting to lose ground. Its closest receiver, the ACR, is in its infancy in beta. It is not clear what will come of it and whether it will work at all. NFSW is a fun game for 20 minutes without content, but with obsessive donations. It would seem that the lack of competition should motivate developers to take a good look at the races. In theory, yes, but in practice, the usual laws of the market work somehow differently. It remains to wait and hope for the emergence of new titles that will change the situation for the better. Just hurry up, otherwise the fans will soon all scatter.
