Throughout the years that Ark has been in Early Access mode, modders have honed their craft by releasing add-ons of varying degrees of genius. Some mods added new features to the game, while others simplified the endless grind, and still others allowed Ark to be completely redone, turning the game world into a pirate island or a Pokemon planet. Mods to eliminate the grind

These mods allow you to get rid of the routine grind, simplify the crafting and building systems of shelters, and also introduce new ways of fast movement into the game.

For a game based on crafting and building, it is unforgivable to have such inconvenient mechanics. The Structures Plus mod makes a number of notable adjustments to them, fixing bugs and getting rid of stupid restrictions: now you can add water pipes to your raft, run electrical wires through walls, and make the ceiling in your shelter rest on the walls instead of being glued to him.

The quality of equipment in Ark varies greatly: you can get both primitive and high-end options, but the problem is that really high-quality items drop quite rarely. So why not intervene in this process? You have a workbench, you have tools and you have a lot of free time. Mod Upgrade Station adds to the game new version a workbench that allows you to independently improve the quality of your weapons, tools and armor.

On the same workbench, you can dismantle items for parts instead of throwing them into the river, as I usually do.

The islands in Ark impress with their area and the number of animals ready to devour you. If you want to skip the long and dangerous rides on dinosaurs, now you have the opportunity: all you have to do is enter the shining portal that connects two points on the island.

Using the Stargate in Ark is by no means cheating. Their construction will take a lot of time, in addition, it is necessary to provide them with energy. But once you've completed the set-up phase, you'll be able to connect the Stargate network to each other, giving you a new way to quickly travel through locations. This is a very convenient opportunity that still needs to be earned, and it is much more interesting than ordinary walking or swimming in a boat.

The more your base grows, the more time it takes to keep track of everything that happens on it. Especially if you already have a small farm where you breed dinosaurs and have to cook food regularly. In this case, it can take a lot of time to clean the pens, fill the feeders and roast the meat at the stake. The Automated Ark mod will allow you to put all these things into automatic mode in order to free up your schedule for really interesting adventures.

By the way, the Automated Ark and Structures Plus mods have a number of similar features - including automatic transfer of things from chests and updated workbenches. However, if you want to delve into farming and breeding dinosaurs without spending too much time on it, then only Automated Ark can help you.

Flint! I hate flint. My entire inventory is full of flint. The whole horror of the local grind is especially pronounced in those situations when you go to prey precious metals, interrupting every minute to unload all the flint and stones from the inventory (and this despite the fact that I have two chests at home, filled to the brim with flint). The Inventory Cleaner mod allows you to automatically clean up your inventory by dropping (or destroying) any type of item or resource you don't want in your backpack.

This works on every item: for example, if you go for narcoberries, you can automatically get rid of fibers or other berries; if you are hunting dinosaurs, you can only collect meat, ignoring heavy hides. A great way to save your nerves for anyone who is starting to get annoyed by the features of the grind in the game.

If you want your character to be able to carry tons of materials, but you don't think a bottomless backpack would look very authentic, there's a rather nifty workaround: you can take a cart with you. The Carts and Wagons mod is still in development, however I didn't notice any bugs while testing it by tying carts to my pet dinosaurs. Now I don't have to take a Stegosaurus with me to gather resources - I can easily handle farming alone.

It takes a lot of time to craft items, and therefore it is especially disappointing when a simple tool breaks after the first use. A rocket launcher that can't be reloaded? A parachute that evaporates after landing? Ark, this is stupid. Luckily, the Reusable Plus mod adds the ability to craft durable spears, hooks, and bolas into the game. You will have to spend resources to create them only once.

Mods with new features

These mods add a number of new features to Ark: Survival Evolved, making the island more diverse and richer in detail.

Grinding on the official servers and creepy PvP, from which the spirit of Hobbes blows, can alienate many newcomers. Especially for them, the NPC Bush People mod was created, in which tribes appear primitive people, whose settlements are scattered throughout the island. Now you can devote your time to the battle with computer opponents.

Interestingly, these characters can be trained and ridden, but I would like to emphasize that our editorial staff is in no way trying to promote slavery.

Even after the Ark building system received Latest updates, the possibilities of gamers in this regard are still noticeably limited: you are unlikely to be able to build an architectural masterpiece. Advanced Architecture mod, clearly inspired by Pillars of the Earth, corrects this misunderstanding - from now on you are free to build entire castles with drawbridges, fireplaces, towers and, of course, thrones on which you can seat your royal ass.

The creators decided to get rid of discrimination by changing the name of the mod from Pimp My Rex (“Tyrannosaurus for pumping”) to Pimp My Dino (“Dinosaur for pumping”). The mod adds armor and customization options to the game for all dinosaurs, regardless of their age, gender and culinary preferences. Choose from multiple clothing and armor sets to make your dinosaur look more dangerous and stylish...or dangerously stylish.

Everything usually happens in a matter of seconds. It is enough to forget to lock the door or gate, and your dinosaur will run away into the wild, where he will instantly get lost. Keep your dinosaurs safe and install the Dino Tracker, which comes with two things: a collar and a tracker. Craft them, put them on your pets and get the opportunity to always be aware of their location - now you can understand whether your dinosaur is really lost or just stuck near some tree along the way.

Ark allows you to craft a huge number of items, but it is surprising that there are criminally few ways to store these items in the game. The Armored Storage Stands mod adds special shelves, weapon stands and armor stands so that they no longer collect dust in one chest. Now you can admire swords, rifles, clothes and saddles neatly laid out on their respective shelves and stands.

A set of blueprints from the great Dr. Rubeus Oswald opens up a lot of new possibilities for gamers who breathe unevenly towards bronze and leather. The Steampunk mod, as the name suggests, includes a set of buildings, lanterns, gates, statues and balloons steampunk style. If your hero lacks a steam powered vehicle, a pair of fancy goggles and a top hat, then this mod is definitely for you.

At times even an island full of dinosaurs, killer bees and piranhas can get a little boring. Especially in the mode single player or during PvE battles, when building fortresses seems pointless, since no one will attack these fortresses. However, the Call of mod the Wild adds dinosaurs to the game ready to attack your base.

You can customize the size of the enemies attacking you, their distance and frequency of raids. Immediately after you set all the parameters and press the "Start" button, waves of angry dinosaurs will rush towards your base. This mod looks best in the company of friends on some PvE server, where you will have to seriously think about your defense strategy, arguing with your comrades along the way and actively commenting on all their actions. At such moments, Ark is revealed from a completely new side.

Mods to create new worlds

When all the locations from Ark have been studied up and down, the mods collected below come to the rescue, allowing you to create new worlds. Or new islands.

This map won first place in the Ark Mod Contest, and it's an impressive free-to-play work of talented designers. The area of ​​​​locations in Valhalla is three times the scale of the territories of Ark, and at the same time this mod is fully compatible with all other mods in the game. In other words, if you are completely satisfied with Ark and you just want to change the place of action, then Valhalla is perfect for you. The card will become a sip fresh air for those who have already spent several years on the standard Ark island.

If the obelisks with columns of otherworldly light floating in the air have already ceased to amaze you, we advise you to install Skies of Nazca. According to the descriptions of the developers, alien wars have seriously affected the world, and now fragmented islands, locations floating in the skies and creepy monsters that have appeared as a result of experiments will dilute the bored routine in Ark.

Unlike other mods in this category, Thieves Island does not try to impress you with the scale of the new location: it is almost half the size standard map. However, it is full of caves, underground tunnels, floating islands and the ruins of a once prosperous pirate bay. Thieves Island impresses with its saturation, which can surprise even experienced players.

Mods to completely change the game

If you have ever watched the fights of dinosaurs from behind the bushes, then you understand that it is as difficult for them to survive as it is for people. You can choose between terrestrial, flying and floating dinosaurs, explore the world, look for food, breed and eventually become food for some kind of predator. You can also play as fish, dragonflies and leeches if you think that's fun.

Primitive Plus was so popular among Ark fans that the developers decided to include this mod in the official free DLC. And there was exactly one reason for that: the mod is really good. It adds depth and complexity to Ark's primitive technology, while also getting rid of the sci-fi gadgets that seem out of place in this setting. The end result is a detailed and beautifully balanced game that focuses on survival in primitive conditions with primitive technology. If you try hard, you can level up to the creation of gunpowder muskets, but the game will not allow you to go beyond that.

Personally, it seems to me that the mod turns Ark into the game that it was intended to be. Passing by is not recommended.
