The toy was released for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 back in 2009. Despite being five years old, Left 4 Dead 2 is quite popular game and worth the attention of every fan of the genre.

The plot is banal. As always, thanks to some unknown virus causing rabies in humans, different kinds mutations, mankind was engulfed by an epidemic.

Someone was able to escape and evacuate, but a group of lucky four people either could not get on the rescue helicopter in time, or simply decided to enjoy all the delights of the zombie apocalypse.

So, four survivors, endowed with immunity from infection, wander through the world of zombies in the hope of finding a way to salvation. Who are they?

Characters - Heroes of Left 4 Dead 2

  1. Trainer(Coach) - such a healthy uncle, a 44-year-old African American, a former football team defender, a school physical education teacher, in short - a physical education teacher.
  2. Nick(Nick) is a 35 year old uncle who traveled around making a living playing cards.
  3. Rochelle(Rochelle) - 29-year-old black girl - a journalist, you can just chocolate.
  4. Ellis(Ellis) is a 23-year-old boy who works in a car repair shop before the apocalypse.

God knows what, nevertheless, you need to survive and stay in the group - this the best option confronting the infected. By the way, all campaigns in Left 4 Dead 2 and game modes, heroes will be played together.

Infected humans are zombies from Left 4 Dead 2

Now it's time to think about infected or zombies. They can be divided into two types:

  1. Common Infected
  2. Special Infected

Among all this beauty, one can distinguish rare common infected: clowns and commandos. You will only be able to meet them in some campaigns.

How to behave so as not to become a victim? A few tips.

  • Beware of the slime of Spitters. The longer you stay in it, the more damage you take.
  • The Brute can knock down the entire team. Once grabbed, he will beat you until he kills you. Do not stand on the edge of an abyss or bridge, when you see a thug, hide.
  • The tank is the most survivable, so as soon as it appears in your field of vision, try to focus your firepower on it. Molotov cocktails, gas cylinders and canisters of gasoline are effective weapons against a tank.
  • It's better not to disturb the witch at all. One touch to the character and he will lie on the ground.
  • The smoker has a long tongue, grabs a target at a distance of several meters and drags it to him. You will have 2 seconds to kill him before he grabs you with his tongue.

Game modes Left 4 Dead 2

For a varied gameplay, the developers gave us several game modes.

  • Campaign is a cooperative online campaign game.
  • Mutation is the last man on earth, you will become a legend for the infected as the last man...
  • Realism - when a real apocalypse comes, you can only rely on your comrades.
  • Combat - play for survivors or infected - zombies in online battle mode.
  • Battle: realism You can't see each other, but they can see you.
  • Survival - Play in survival mode - try to survive as long as possible.
  • Gathering is a competitive competition of several rounds.
  • One player - a game for one player offline with other players under the control of the computer.

It is worth highlighting the mode - campaigns. The whole game, the plot, is built on this mode. The campaign can be played as a single player, with bots in a team, and in co-op mode.

Companies in Left 4 Dead 2

is the basis of gameplay in Left 4 Dead. As for campaigns, there are several of them in the game. Each campaign is divided into several parts - chapters. So you can start either from the beginning, or from a specific chapter.

Chapter 1 Dead Center

Our heroes appear on the roof of the hotel - this is the very moment when they fail to escape by helicopter.

After escaping from the burning hotel, the four head to the mall, hoping to find an evacuation point.

There are no survivors at the site, all personnel are dead.

In search of gasoline for a racing car. The next decision is the way to New Orleans.

Chapter 2: The Passing

An idle raised bridge blocked the way for our heroes, they are forced to get out of the car.

In an attempt to get to the bridge and start it, the four brave men descend into the dungeon.

Search for fuel, refueling the bridge generator.

Chapter 3 Dark Carnival

Huge traffic jam, no way to get through.

Through the amusement park, through the crowds of zombies.

With the breeze on the rides.

The survivors are looking for a way to the concert venue.

Charity concert for zombies. Helicopter signal.

Chapter 4 Swamp Fever

Boardwalk backyard

Our heroes did not manage to fly far. As it turned out, the pilot of the helicopter was infected. They did not stand on ceremony with him for a long time and shot him.

Swamp

Very wet and a lot of zombies, nothing to do, you need to move on.

Slum

Another town on the way. Some local village.

Plantation

Finally, the survivors find the plantation, they communicate with the ferryman by radio.

Chapter 5

The action of the fifth campaign takes place in a coastal city. The boat the survivors were on ran out of fuel. We land on land, in search of fuel.

The path lay through a sugar factory. Unfortunately, the heroes did not find any sweets or sugar. But the fuel problem was solved.

After filling the canisters with fuel, our characters return, meanwhile the weather worsens.

The city is flooded, apparently the water brought with it a couple of hundred more zombies.

Escape from the city

The survivors, waist-deep in water, make their way to the pier, giving a signal, a boat sails.

Chapter 6 The Parish

The ferryman delivers the four to New Orleans and sails away to save other people. Now the task is to find the evacuation point, which was organized by the military.

It is not clear why the park for zombies liked ... We pass it, killing a couple of fat men and dozens 5 Walking Dead. A few hundred meters more, we run across the bridge and see the cemetery.

Here the situation is right. The dead run through the crypts, jumping from one to another. One upset, there were no those same hands from under the ground, as in classic horror films.

After running through the cemetery, the characters will find themselves in a beautiful and cozy quarter, but at the very end they will be in trouble. It is necessary to turn on the tractor so that it moves the bridge to the opposite balcony of the building. They are coming...

A huge dilapidated bridge, our heroes need to run to the other side, where a military helicopter is waiting for them.

That's all for the campaigns directly related to the Left 4 Dead 2 story. Below we will tell you one more, in our opinion, no less interesting than those described above.

Additional Campaign - Cold Stream

The four survivors ended up in a mountainous area, and the decision was made to go downstream.

Beautiful landscapes and forest gatehouses, in one of them the heroes met a crowd of zombies.

Upon reaching the bridge, the characters also encounter many angry zombies. (Perhaps traffic jams drove people crazy.)

Another narrow stream is passed and a certain base, where a rescue helicopter is waiting for the survivors.

Trailer for the game, Left 4 Dead gameplay

Well, if you doubt whether the game is worth your money or your time, check out the trailer and gameplay from Left 4 dead 2.

Video: game trailer

At some points, the number of zombies running at you starts to go off scale, in an attempt to fight off the crowd, you start to randomly click on all types of weapons and click the mouse.

Video: gameplay of the game

The atmosphere and graphics in the game are amazing, for some reason it reminded me of the good old resident evil, the same one that was on the first PlayStation.

A sea of blood, pieces of flesh flying in different directions, inhuman squeals, screams and groans. Can the four survivors make their way to salvation?

Fans of the zombie franchise are looking forward to the release of Left 4 Dead 4. The review is extremely interesting due to the unusual gameplay, wide possibilities, many maps, character variations and other innovations in previous parts. The game in a short time has become a cult and gained tens of thousands of fans around the world.

In Internet battles, players converge daily on various online gaming sites. Left four Dead 2 has received numerous awards and accolades. From the domestic magazine "Igromania" she received the title of "Best Shooter of the Year".

general description

Despite the absence of even a third part, heated debates have already unfolded on the Internet regarding the innovations in Left 4 Dead 4. Overview previous parts will give a pretty accurate idea of the atmosphere of this franchise. According to the plot, the world of people was destroyed as a result of exposure to a certain virus, which turned almost the entire population into zombies. But this, as it were, remains behind the scenes, which gives the player the opportunity to immediately plunge into the ups and downs of the struggle for survival in the post-apocalyptic world. All the decorations are chosen extremely interesting - in the spirit of Hollywood horror films. An amusement park, a swamp with rare buildings, a destroyed factory, and so on are favorite places to fight zombies.

The game makes it clear that a tiny number of people survived, who are desperately fighting for existence. But only four of them are in the center of the plot. The same concept will be in Left 4 Dead 4. Character overview can only concern their appearance (skin) and lines. In general, their skills are no different, and there is no physical difference. The fragile girl Rochelle copes with a light machine gun no worse than the athletic Ellis. However, it is the color of the characters that gives the game a special charm. The constant jokes of the main characters, as well as the irony of what is happening, inevitably draw the player in. Therefore, everyone is very interested in who the new characters will be in Left 4 Dead 4. A review of the previous parts makes it clear that they are all different at first glance, but have one thing in common - the lust for life.

Character selection

You can play as any of the four characters in the game. Hence the pun in the name - in English, the number four sounds "for", just like the preposition "for". That is, the title can be read both as "Four dead men left" and as "Remained for death." The head of the group is the Coach - a dark-skinned overweight man in his forties. He is very kind and brave. Sometimes he complains about his knee, which he injured in his youth playing American football. He cares about all members of the group and grieves the loss of each.

Ellis is a young guy who worked as an auto mechanic before being infected. He is simple-minded and naive, loves to tell endless stories about his friends in difficult times. He is constantly offended by Nick, a middle-aged tramp. He loves alcohol, girls and money. The casino game brought him to the city of Savannah, where he met the end of the world. The only girl is Rochelle, a dark-skinned journalist in her thirties. She is cheerful and perky, sincerely empathizes with all the survivors.

You can choose any character during the single player campaign in Left 4 Dead 2 (we briefly reviewed the main characters here). When choosing a random character, the computer will randomly determine who you will pass the map for. The greatest advantage of the game is the ability to play on the Internet. A maximum of four people can complete missions in one team, which at times raises interest.

Gameplay Features

Fully updated gameplay is expected in Left 4 Dead 3. The review should start with the fact that it will basically not differ from the previous parts. Also, the campaign missions are divided into several maps. Each card has its own poster (images of heroes with an ironic inscription) and a general entourage. For example, in the "Carnival" campaign, the entire map is an amusement park. The campaign is divided into several levels (usually from three to six). At the end of each level is the so-called "shelter" - a room, having reached which, players can go to the next level. The room contains a lot of weapons, ammunition, throwing weapons, medicines.

To get to the shelter, you need to go through the entire map, fighting zombies along the way and completing some tasks. For example, in a swamp it is necessary to cross a reservoir. Single zombies are found at almost every turn. Destroying them is not difficult, since they most often just stand still. The real danger is the "waves" of the invasion of the infected. Then huge crowds of monsters run from everywhere and attack the players. In addition to the waves provided for by the plot of the game, there are also those provoked by the player. For example, if you get into a car, the alarm may turn on, the sound of which will rush the horde.

Weapon

Each player can carry one primary and one secondary weapon. The main ones are various types of machine guns, shotguns, sniper rifles, a grenade launcher and a machine gun. Secondary can be a pistol with infinite ammo and edged weapons. It is this that is the main innovation in Left 4 Dead 2. An overview of weapons is in the menu.

This is a crowbar, baseball and cricket bat. There are also several exotic weapons, such as a guitar or a frying pan. The presence of melee weapons brings a special drive to the gameplay. Destroying zombie heads with an electric guitar is the dream of any fan of this subject.

There is also a special secondary weapon - a chainsaw. She is extremely effective in the battle against a crowd of zombies. But it will take some time to start it, and the fuel supply is not unlimited. There is a separate slot for thrown weapons. It could be dynamite, Fat Man's vomit. The cocktail is very effective against bosses and for blocking passages. However, it can also set your allies on fire, dealing heavy damage to them. After the throw, all the zombies from the area come running to the dynamite and crowd until it explodes, killing everyone. Useful thing in critical situations. Vomit is used to attract the attention of zombies. If you hit other infected with it, they will start attacking each other. Each character can only carry one throwable weapon at a time.

Review of the game Left 4 Dead 2: Zombies

The infected are the main target for the player. They fill almost the entire level. Zombies move slowly or stand still. But if they notice the player, they begin to quickly run towards him. During waves, zombies run at once and in large numbers. To kill a normal infected, you need to make three shots from an automatic weapon, four from a pistol, one from a shotgun and sniper rifle. If hit in the head, the infected dies immediately, regardless of the type of weapon. You can also destroy zombies with melee weapons. This is the best way out if you are surrounded by a crowd. Because by shooting at a large number of zombies, you will quickly use up all the ammo. And during the reload time, enemies will have time to inflict huge damage on you. For close combat, the katana is best. To break through the crowd to the shelter - scrap.

Acting as zombies ordinary people. Only a few dozen types of "skins" of the infected. These are people of different sexes and ages in different clothes. Some have huge bulging eyes, and some walk around with bloody faces. Of course, this diversity determines the unique atmosphere that the Left 4 Dead game creates.

Rare Infected

In addition to regular zombies, there are also rare infected in Left 4 Dead. A review of the game by various magazines noted this significant difference in the new part. They appear with each card and have some special features. Rare zombies such as Worker, CDC Officer, Clown, and Fallen Survivor take standard damage. But some of them are immune to fire and the sound of grenades. The clown, which is only found in the "Dark Carnival" campaign, can attract other zombies with the sound of his squeaking shoes. Therefore, the player needs to destroy it as quickly as possible. Mud people are found on maps where swampy terrain is present. They jump out of the swamp and attack the survivors, while splashing mud in the face. To avoid blindness, you should have a melee weapon and not get too close to the water. The most tenacious are the infected commandos. They are wearing a protective suit and helmet. It is impossible to destroy them with shots to the front of the body. Therefore, you need to go around the infected and shoot him in the back. It is quite difficult to do this, since the special forces move extremely quickly.

Highly Infected

The most dangerous types of infected are Special. In total, there are eight types of them in Left 4 Dead. In an online shooter, the player can play as any of them. In total, several special zombies are given on the map, which are reborn a few minutes after death. The Hunter is one of the more agile bosses.

He moves only by crawling and can climb walls very quickly. His main attack is the jump. From a long distance, with a characteristic sound, he jumps on a survivor and knocks him down. After that, he will beat the player until he dies. To reset it, you need to kill zombies or hit with a butt. At the same time, the attacked character himself can carry out a melee strike while jumping.

The Special Infected Smoker attacks from a distance with its tongue. If he manages to hook the player, the latter will lose control and hang until he dies or until the allies shoot off the zombie's tongue. Another infected is the Fat Man. He moves very slowly and has the lowest health pool. When hit in a huge stomach, it explodes and immediately dies. The main ability of the Fat Man is spitting a certain substance, which, when it hits the player, makes it difficult to see and attracts a horde of zombies to him. The best way to deal with it is accurate shot from a far distance. If the Infected comes close to you, you should push him away before the shot, otherwise you will receive damage from the explosion.

Like the Fat Man, the Spitter also vomits a special substance. She can shoot a poisonous liquid for several tens of meters. After a two-second delay, characters standing on acid take massive damage. After killing this Highly Infected, a puddle of acid appears at the site of her death.

Left 4 2 added new bosses - the Jockey and the Brute. The first runs fast and can climb onto the survivor's back. After that, he can pull the character in any direction. It is extremely difficult to shoot him down, because there is a risk of hitting the player. If a Jockey jumped on you, you should try to go in the same direction where he is dragging you, then there is an opportunity to take control of the situation for a while. Similarly disables the player and the Thug. This tall boss can run to the nearest obstacle at breakneck speed. If a survivor gets in his way during this run, the survivor will take massive damage. The Thug won't let the player go until he kills him.

The most dangerous

The strongest infected are the Tank and the Witch.

Their number is very limited. The witch is a very colorful character that all players remember. Outwardly, she looks like a naked woman with long hair, mangled skin, claws and burning eyes. She usually sits still and makes howling sounds. The Witch never just attacks the Survivors. But if you direct light at her for a long time or stand nearby, she falls into a rage. After that, the Witch runs towards one player and knocks them down with the first blow. Then beats with claws. If the player is not helped in time, he will die in a matter of seconds. It's best to set the witch on fire. If there are no Molotov cocktails, then melee weapons will be the most effective.

Tank

But the most dangerous is still the Tank.

He has a huge number of lives, and it is extremely difficult to kill him. The tank is several times larger than any other boss. He can climb walls and jump far. The tank moves pretty fast and destroys everything in its path. Among the abilities he has in his arsenal is the throw of a car or a dumpster. The appearance of the Tank is preceded by the shaking of all surrounding objects and the corresponding music. To fight with this leader, the participation of all characters will be required. The best way to win is to set it on fire. The easiest way to do this is with a Molotov cocktail. But in his absence, an exploded canister is also suitable. The Tank first had 3000 health in Left 4 Dead 2 (beta). A review of gamer feedback forced the developers to introduce an increase in the life of the Tank, depending on the difficulty level. The boss can knock the player down with two or three hits. Therefore, in addition to marksmanship, you should also deftly move. Do not forget that the Tank calmly passes through the walls, simply breaking them.

Left 4 Dead 2: Fatal return. Review

One of the most memorable campaigns is Fatal return. This is a bonus level that is not in original game. Differences are visible from the first minutes. All players are dressed in special military clothing, while the conversations and individual lines remain the same ("Hey Nick, why are you wearing a white suit?"). This campaign very interesting because it combines many locations with different types of zombies. If at the beginning the players need to make their way through the thicket, having only a machete in their arsenal, then at the end there will be a battle in the cemetery. In the last levels, it rains and there are a huge number of witches.

The 44-year-old African American is originally from Savannah. He was once a promising quarterback on his college football team, but a knee injury ended his career. Now he works as a school physical education teacher and is already far from the ideal of physical form, in particular because of his love of chocolate. All acquaintances and friends call him Coach, and he is used to it. Therefore, while meeting with other Survivors, he did not begin to give his real name, but offered to address him by his nickname. Despite his formidable appearance, the Coach is very good-natured and friendly. He is a Catholic and likes to occasionally quote the Bible. The coach is the oldest in the four main characters, so it is he who is considered the informal leader in the company of his new friends. He, like Ellis, is a fan of the Midnight Riders and a fan of racing.
The appearance of the Coach is copied from Darnell Rice, and he was voiced by Chad Colman (in the localization from Akella - Vladimir Antonik).

A simple-minded but intelligent 23-year-old from Savannah. He works at a car repair shop and enjoys spending time with his friends. Like Coach, he is a fan of the Midnight Riders and a fan of racing. When the zombie apocalypse came, Ellis was not at all afraid, but on the contrary, well armed, he went to prove to the Infected that they should be afraid of him. Ellis likes to comment on everything that happens around him and often tells other Survivors out of place ridiculous stories about his friend Keith. Nevertheless, he is the most adequate interlocutor of the four. Ellis is a very good-natured and naive guy, which is why Nick often makes fun of him. After meeting Zoya in the "Transition" campaign, Ellis fell head over heels in love with her, which also served as a reason for ridicule from Nick.
Ellis's appearance is copied from Jesse McKinney, and he was voiced by Eric Ladin (in localization from Akella - Alexander Komlev).

An avid card gambler and a clever swindler. He is 35 years old, wears an expensive white suit and loved the beautiful life. Prior to the onset of the zombie apocalypse, Nick traveled from city to city and made a living playing cards at local casinos. Savannah was only a temporary stop in Nick's life, but the outbreak of the epidemic messed up all his plans. Nick is also very worried about the death of his wife Amanda, whom Nick will soon meet in the guise of a Witch in a wedding dress. Now he, in the company of new acquaintances, is trying to find a way out of this situation. Nick is not the most pleasant type, he likes to make cynical remarks and play mean jokes on other Survivors, especially on the simple-minded Ellis. However, Nick often acts as the voice of reason in the team.
Nick's appearance is copied from Teymur Gazi, and he was voiced by Hugh Dillon (in localization from Akella - Denis Yuchenkov).

29-year-old black girl originally from Cleveland. The love of communication determined her future fate - she went into journalism. For success, Rochelle was promoted and sent to Savannah to write an article about the oddities that began to happen in the town. The outbreak in Atlanta gave her a chance to make a good report, and she went to the evacuation center to cover the events, but the unfolding chaos disrupted all her plans. Nevertheless, Rochelle is not the kind of person who will give up and wait for death. She found a weapon and teamed up with the other Survivors. Rochelle is a fan of the famous musical group Depeche Mode. Despite the fact that Rochelle, like Francis, hates a lot of things in this world, she is very friendly and sweet.
Rochelle's appearance is copied from Shanola Hampton, and voiced by Rochelle Aytes (in localization from Akella - Elena Chebaturkina).

William "Bill" Overbeck is one of the four Survivors in Left 4 Dead. A veteran of the Vietnam War who served in the US Army Special Forces and is one of the senior military. Usually seen from assault rifle(which looks like an M16, which in real life used by the US military in Vietnam), which is most likely part of his life. He is often seen with a lit cigarette in his mouth, which goes out if he dies.

Bill was killed before the events of Left 4 Dead 2, but during the (canonical) events of The Sacrifice. In the latter, he sacrificed his life to save the other three Survivors. According to the comic, Bill was killed after being attacked by several Tanks when he went to activate a stalled drawbridge in the finale to save the entire Survivor team from an attack by the Infected.
Bill's facial features were taken from Bernard Fokit, and the character was voiced by Jim French (Valery Storozhik in the Russian version).

Francis is one of the four Survivors in Left 4 Dead. He is a strong and strong-willed biker with tattoos covering his arms and neck. His tattoos identify his membership in the Legion of Hell, whose name may have been inspired by the real-life Hells Angels club. In official images, he is usually seen wielding a pump-action shotgun or automatic shotgun.

Francis, along with Zoe and Louis, appear in Left 4 Dead 2 in the "Sacrifice" downloadable campaign, in which they are encountered by the Survivors of Left 4 Dead 2. Nick and Francis bicker with each other out of their difficult natures, though Rochelle seemed strangely attractive to him .
Francis' facial features were taken from Taylor Knox and voiced by Vince Valenzuela (Vsevolod Kuznetsov in the Russian version).

Luis is one of the four Survivors in Left 4 Dead. His original concept was taken from an assistant manager at a local electronics retail chain, but in the game, he is not a Franklin Brothers junior analyst in the Philadelphia-based IT department until the second day after the outbreak. In official media, he was usually seen wielding a submachine gun or two pistols. Luis, along with Zoe and Francis, appears in Left 4 Dead 2's Transition Campaign when they meet with the survivors of Left 4 Dead 2. In The Sacrifice, Louis has an injured left leg after encountering a witch on a yacht that Francis offered to inspect. Due to this, he uses a stationary heavy machine gun during the campaign finale. In addition, in the comic Victim, Louis' hand was bitten by infected person. The arm hurt badly enough to draw blood from it. However, it remains uninfected, although the virus can be transmitted through saliva, airborne droplets, or other means. Louis was either completely immune or a carrier. Subsequently, in the Victim comic, it turns out that Luis is indeed a carrier of a virus that can infect people who are not immune.
Louis' facial features are taken from Sean Bennett and he is voiced by Count Alexander (Vladislav Kopp in the Russian version).

Zoey is one of the four Survivors in Left 4 Dead. Her initial look is based on Alecia Glidewell, who worked with Valve on Portal for the character Chell. In official materials, the character is holding dual pistols.

Zoe, along with Louis and Francis, appears in Left 4 Dead 2's "Sacrifice" campaign, where the Survivors of Left 4 Dead 2 are encountered. Unlike her position in Left 4 Dead, she often breaks down and gets angry. Zoya has 2 prototypes Sonya Kinski and Ekaterina Kharlamova. Perhaps due to the fact that she is having a hard time with Bill's death.
Zoe's facial features were taken from Sonia Kinski; voiced by Jan Taylor (in the Russian version - by Olga Zvereva).

Spitter

The Spitter is a Special Infected who first appeared in Left 4 Dead 2 as a playable character in Fight and Gather. As a result of the mutation, Spitter's stomach began to produce corrosive acid. Any Survivor who stays in the acid long enough will take 76 damage, without the help of other infected or normal zombies. Upon death, the Spitter will leave a small puddle of slime that is half the size but deals the same damage as if the attack was made while still alive by the Infected. The Spitter makes hoarse squealing noises. The lower jaw, cheeks, nose, and lips are badly damaged by the acid, suggesting that the Spitter isn't spitting out all of the mucus. The elongated neck, sagging chest, and swollen abdomen were most likely used to house and produce mucus. An elongated neck allows Spitter to spit far and accurately. Her burned skin and clumsy gait may be the result of exposure to the virus, as the acid corrodes her connective tissue. Has 100 health points. The cooldown time of the main ability is 20 seconds. Acid puddle damage 76 points, without causing damage to other infected. Able to spit in a jump, unlike the Fat Man. The Spitter, despite her low health pool, is dangerous, especially if she helps other infected - for example, a Brute who drives a victim or a Jockey who can turn a Survivor into acid. Obviously, the infection slightly enlarged the stomach, but destroyed other important organs, with the exception of the lungs. Perhaps this is the reason for the constant hoarse squeals. Hence - the Spitter needs to constantly secrete acid (similar to saliva), there is also the assumption that the acid is stored in the lungs.

The Jockey - Jockeys jump on the head of the Survivors. Thus, he begins to deal damage by scratching the face of the Survivor and control his movements. Valve stated that Jockey and Spitter "worked in tandem". The Jockey can also guide the Survivor into the fire or even the Witches. The virus has turned the Jockey into a terrifying creature with heavily muscled arms and back, forcing him to move in a crouched state, which does not prevent him from moving quickly. Another distinguishing feature of the Jockey is his elongated fingers and nervous laughter, which turns into hysterical laughter when he jumps on a Survivor. In the game, he is dressed in a white torn T-shirt and blue boxer shorts. The skin on the lips and face is strongly stretched and practically fits his skull. The main ability of the Jockey is to jump on the back of one of the Survivors and then partially control his movement. Thanks to this skill, the Jockey can lead his victim into a puddle of acid, push him against the Witch, organize an instant kill of the Survivor with the participation of the Brute, and so on. The Jockey's secondary attack is a claw strike.

The Charger is a large Infected, almost as tall as a Tank and as wide as half of it. Unlike the Tank, the Thug's legs are able to support his full weight, and thus he stands mostly upright. His hairless skin is a deep greenish gray, he wears a bloody denim overall with one shoulder strap torn off, and a green sneaker on his right leg. The Brute is one of the few Infected to wear any sort of footwear. The main ability of the Thug is a running attack with the capture of the victim. With its hypertrophied hand outstretched, the Infected rushes into a group of Survivors, grabs one of them and begins to drive it into the ground. If other Survivors stood in the way of the Thugs, then they will be thrown away from the blow in different directions, like skittles. A secondary, but no less dangerous attack of the Farmer is a blow with a big hand. It has 600 health points. Throwing a Thug deals 10 points of damage, subsequent driving into the ground / floor - 15. The cooldown time of the main ability is 15 seconds. While beating the victim, the ability is not restored. The infected have only three functional limbs - the right arm and legs, the left arm has atrophied and is practically useless. Perhaps all the juices were squeezed out of it in order to increase the right arm of the battering ram. The brute reaches the height of the Tank in height.

The Hunter is an agile and fast Infected, able to jump far from a sitting position and bounce off walls in flight. Attacks by flying into the Survivor and knocking him down, after which he begins to inflict serious injuries on him with his claws. When successfully jumping from a great height onto a Survivor in competitive modes, it deals additional damage (up to 25 points). The Hunter's presence is easily detected by the growls and piercing shrieks he makes in preparation for jumping from a sitting position, and by the loud scream he makes while jumping. Hunter runs completely silently. The only way for the Survivor to escape is the help of his comrades (who will kill the Hunter or push him away with a butt). Also, the Hunter can have time to hit with a butt during the jump, thereby disorienting him for a couple of seconds. Health - 250 units. Hunter ability recharge time: 1 second - when preparing to jump, 0.1 seconds - between jumps. In the second part, the Survivors in the first campaign, in the first level, call the Hunter a jumper (Eng. Jumper)

Smoker

Smoker - A Special Infected with a 30-40 meter tongue, which he can use to pull Survivors knocking them down and suffocate them. Survivors can shoot off their tongues to protect each other, however, if the Smoker is not killed, his tongue will quickly grow back, with the rate of regeneration depending on the success of the Smoker's attack. If the tongue attack was wasted, regeneration is significantly faster. The Survivor, who is grabbed by the Smoker, in some cases during the attack can free himself on his own: he can manage to hit the Smoker with a butt and thereby interrupt the attack, or try to shoot the Smoker on his own, since in the first seconds of entanglement with the tongue the player is still able to shoot. When the Smoker dies, his body emits smoke that blurs the Survivors' vision, disorienting them, causing them to be unable to see enemies properly. When the Smoker grabs a Survivor, the partner can shoot the tongue, thereby freeing the Survivor. If a Survivor in the Smoker's smoke is attacked by Common Infected, the Smoker player scores points, as does the Fat Man. The Smoker betrays his tall height, which exceeds the height of ordinary infected, as well as a cloud of yellow-green spores that constantly revolves around him. The smoker makes coughing and wheezing sounds. Unlike the first part, the Smoker's tongue is cut off by itself if he manages to hang the Survivor over the abyss. Health of the Smoker - 250 units. Cooldown time of the Smoker's ability: 3 seconds - after a miss, 15 seconds - after a hit. When playing in competitive modes, the Smoker's tongue deals damage while pulling the victim, while in co-op, damage is only dealt by suffocation.

The Boomer is a huge, fat, blistered Infected filled with an unknown substance (presumably intestinal excrement). Makes loud bubbling sounds. A fat man can vomit for a short distance. When his vomit hits a Survivor, it acts like a pheromone on Common Infected and causes them to focus their attack on that player, making the player unable to see clearly. The Fat player scores points for all Common Infected attacks against that player. Fatty's vomiting also prevents players from seeing the silhouettes of their comrades, including those attacked by Special Infected. In addition, if killed, it bursts and sprays its substance on nearby people, knocking Hunters, Smokers off the victims, disorienting Tanks, breaking doors and throwing small moving objects (for example, canisters and cylinders) to the sides. Also, in the event of an explosion, the Fat Man can activate an alarm on a nearby car. The Fat Man is the slowest of all the Infected. In Left 4 Dead 2, there is a female variant of the Fat Man (Spitter) that is easily identified by its distinctive squeaking sound. Health - 50 units. The reload time of Fat Man's ability is 30 seconds.

Tank is a huge, muscular Infected with devastating power. Able to break through concrete walls, throw cars, dumpsters and other environmental objects. The Tank is leveled by the Director, and usually the Tank does not act until it spots the Survivors. The lurking Tank makes wheezing and low growling sounds; after awakening - a loud roar and roar, in addition, after the awakening of the Tank, characteristic music begins to play. The approach of the Tank also gives out the shaking of objects and the ground, as with a small earthquake. Tank's health cooperative regimes depends on the difficulty level: easy - 5000 units, normal - 6000, master and expert - 10000. In competitive modes, the Tank has 8000 health units. Players cannot choose a Tank themselves; it is randomly given to one of the Infected players (usually the one with the highest score). When the player becomes a Tank, a control indicator appears, which decreases if the player does not see the Survivors (control is not taken away if the Survivors are in the shelter). When a player hits a Survivor, control is restored. As soon as the Tank player loses control, control passes to another player. If this player loses control, then control of the Tank is transferred to the bot. A tank controlled by a bot has the ability to climb over any obstacles, not just special ladders for the Infected. If the Tank is set on fire, then he begins to quickly lose health. At the same time, the player's control indicator disappears, and he controls the Tank until it dies. A burning Tank can also be extinguished in water, then the control indicator will be restored for the player who controls it. On the Expert difficulty level, a burning Tank runs noticeably faster than a non-burning one. In Left 4 Dead 2 there is a replacement for the Tank (Thug). Cooldown time for Tank abilities: paw strike - 1.5 seconds, stone throw - 5 seconds.

The Witch is one of the most dangerous Infected. She sits in one place and howls, without touching anyone. But if you disturb her (to stand nearby for a long time, shine a flashlight on her or shoot her), then she will chase the Survivor who disturbed her, knock him down and begin to shred him with her claws. Her cries and sobs can be heard from afar. In co-op modes on Expert difficulty and in Realistic mode on any difficulty level except Easy, the Witch kills a Survivor with one hit. The Witch's health is 1000 units, the difficulty level only affects the amount of absorbed damage when shooting at all parts of the body, except for the head. All types of shotguns deal additional damage to the Witch when fired at point-blank range (does not work in Realistic mode), making it possible to kill her with one shot at point-blank range on any difficulty level. When hit in the head with a hunting rifle, the Witch will be stunned for three seconds if she was not disturbed by anyone; if you set the Witch on fire, then she will run a little slower, and on the way to the offender she will be brought into door jambs and obstacles, giving time to escape or kill her; however, if you set the Witch on fire so that she does not see the aggressor (shoot the canister through the wall or throw the Molotov and immediately run around the corner), then she will panic and run aimlessly around the area until she burns out. In Left 4 Dead 2 you can meet wandering Witches (Also under the name "Walking Witches"), unlike the first part, they do not sit still, but roam around a small area if the level does not take place at night.

Rare Infected

CEDA scientists (Eng. Infected CEDA Workers), in chemical protection suits that protect them from fire. Some of them carry jars of Fat Man's slime samples on their belts, which can then be picked up. Found in the Dead Center, Sacrifice, and No Mercy campaigns.

Clown Infected, attracting the attention of Common Infected with their squeaky shoes and leading them along. Found in the Dark Carnival campaign.

Mud Men, splattering the player's screen with mud. They can move on all fours. Found in the Swamp Fever campaign.
Workers (English Worker Infected), wearing a protective helmet, because of which they do not hear the ticking of the bomb. Found in the Terrible Downpour, Sacrifice, and No Mercy campaigns.

Special forces (eng. Riot Infected), dressed in body armor and protective helmets that protect against damage in front, but leave the back vulnerable. Some carry rubber truncheons. Found in the "Coming" campaign.

Jimmy Gibbs Jr. (Eng. Jimmy Gibbs Junior) - the best racer on stock cars, according to Ellis. Like most people, he was infected, and now with a five percent probability he can be found on the Atrium map near the pedestal with the car. This Infected is very dangerous, has 1000 health, is immune to fire, doesn't react to the sound of grenades and Fat Man's mucus fumes, and when attacked, it splatters the player's screen with oil like Mudslicker. If you kill him, then one of the Survivors will say the phrase "I'm sorry, Jimmy, but we need your car." Despite its health pool, this Infected dies from a single melee hit.

Fallen Survivor - An Infected equipped with military ammunition. He carries with him various items, which may be useful to the Survivors (first aid kit, molotov, grenade or pills). When a Fallen Survivor is attacked, they begin to run away. This Infected has 1000 health and does not react to the sound of the grenade and Fat Man's mucus fumes. Despite its huge health pool, this Infected dies from a single melee hit. He can also be killed with a single shot from the M60 or use explosive rounds. In rare cases, a Fallen Survivor can be killed with a well-aimed headshot. These Infected are found in the Crossing Campaign.

Georgia was just another stop in this drifter's life. In any case, it would be much better there than in another cheap bar. Feeling an easy catch, Nick pulled all he could from poker games at local casinos. He did not plan to spend the rest of his life in Savannah, but the zombiecalypse intervened in his plans, and now who knows how stuck he will be here?

Nick is one of the four Survivors in Left 4 Dead 2, voiced by Hugh Dillon. Full name - Nicholas, 35 years old. He is an avid gambler and a slick con artist who wears an expensive suit. Nick joined the three in search of salvation, but still cannot decide for himself whether to trust them (which is against all his instincts), and constantly compares them with the Coward, Dunce and Experienced (in the original - with the characters of the comedy The Three Stooges ). Despite the zombiecalypse, he is constantly trying to find a benefit from what happened, however, over time, he begins to appreciate his partners more and more.

Many players see Nick as an analogue of the businessman Louis from the original 4;

When Nick says "Shoot me again I'm not dead yet", the line is a reference to Metallica's "Shoot Me Again", in which lead singer James Hetfield sings : "Shoot me again I ain't dead yet";

When Nick says: Are you really going to shoot a guy in a $10,000 suit? Come on!" ("Are you really going to shoot a guy in a $10,000 suit? Come on!"), this line is a reference to the character George Oscar Bluth from the American TV series "Arrested Development", who constantly boasted about the expensiveness of his suit. For example : "Yeah, is a dude in a $25,000 suit going to carry heavy weights? Come on!";

Nick bears a striking resemblance to the character Tom Vercetti from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, who in turn was based on Al Pacino's Tony Montana from Scarface;

Just like Zoey and Louis, Nick stands next to Rochelle in all campaign posters;

According to the game's trailer and gameplay, Nick's favorite melee weapon is a frying pan;

Nick is the only Survivor in Left 4 Dead 2 whose appearance has not changed since the beginning.

Ellis is a simple-minded but not stupid guy who loves beer and poking around in cars. His friends just call him Al.

Most pissed in their pants in this zombiecalypse. But not Ellis - his indestructibility is not in doubt, as is the fact that he is 23 years old and he is absolutely immune. It can be said that Savannah's son respects his mother, loves work and enjoys what he has. And he is bold enough to show who needs to be scared here - him or the infected.

Many players see Ellis as an analogue of the biker Francis from the original four. Like Francis, he comments on everything that happens. Plus, he has a tattoo on his right arm. However, in character he is much more like Louis;

Designers changed several times appearance Ellis, starting with a green cap and blue jeans, ending with a white and blue NASCAR cap and mechanic work pants with a tool belt. In the teaser shown at E3, he wore a t-shirt with two crossed flags and the words "J.B. Autoservice" underneath, apparently his work t-shirt. Another yellow T-shirt can be seen in the Dark Carnival campaign cinematic, and the pants have been replaced with jeans again. The most recent clips showed Ellis wearing a "Bull-Shifters" T-shirt. Judging by the demo version, this version of Ellis is the final one;

In the trailer, Ellis put on a huge amount of weapons that you cannot carry with you in the game;

In the trailer, Ellis was the target of all the Special Infected shown there;

Ellis and Rochelle are the only survivors of Left 4 Dead 2 to have versions shown in screenshots or videos, but not on posters. In Ellis' case, these are early screenshots of him wearing a white t-shirt, green cap and jeans.

Former high school football coach who quit teaching after suffering a professional knee injury. After that, the Coach took up an easier sport, becoming a flabby fitness trainer. Zombocalypse made him look after his health instead of his students. Originally from Savannah, Georgia, she has a knack for dealing with children and their parents. He was voiced by an actor from The Wire.

Chet Faliszek once mentioned that the Coach "has a terrible hatred for zombies, especially the Witch", though he didn't elaborate on why.

Many players see Coach as Bill from the original 4;

According to both characters' backstories, both Bill and Coach had a knee injury;

The coach is very similar to Uncle Phil - the character of the TV series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air;

The former coach has a slight defect in diction, especially noticeable when he swallows R and G. Perhaps this is due to the accent of the southerner;

The coach is religious, he comments on what is happening referring to the Bible. It was also mentioned in the game's first trailer that the last time he saw his grandmother, she asked if he was still praying;

His words - "If I go through the valley of the shadow of death" - a quote from the Bible (Ps. 22:4);

Initial sketches of the Coach were shown in PC Gamer magazine, including: a skinny coach, a white coach, a coach using football pads as armor. He also held a bow and arrows;

It is possible that the trainer's favorite weapon will be the AK-47. on two campaign posters, he holds exactly this weapon.

Rochelle is from Cleveland, 26 years old. She loves communication and therefore went into journalism. Friends call her Ro. For her success, she was promoted and sent to Savannah, the area of the first campaign, to write an article about the strange things that began to happen in the town.

The outbreak in Atlanta gave her the chance to develop her career more actively. She was sent to the evacuation center to cover the events, but the unfolding chaos disrupted all plans. Nevertheless, Rochelle is not the kind of person who will reconcile and wait for death. She found a weapon and teamed up with the other Survivors. Her T-shirt has the Depeche Mode logo on it.

Rochelle is voiced by Rochelle Aytes.

Many players see Rochelle as an analogue of Zoya from the original four;

The designers of the game changed its appearance several times. In the trailer, she was wearing an orange T-shirt, but now she is pink. Her hair changed color from brown to black, and the girl herself became a little shorter. Also, her hairstyle has become a little shorter, before her hair was collected in a long ponytail, and now in a neat bun;

Rochelle has a slight French accent, which may have some connection to the "The Parish" campaign;

Just like Zoe and Louis, Rochelle stands next to Nick in all of the game's campaign posters;

In the campaign poster for Shop of Death, Rochelle wields a chainsaw and a katana in two hands. This will not be in the game, according to Chet Falizhek, the ability to use two weapons at the same time was removed after several tests.

Infected

thug

A Brute is an Infected that destroys everything in its path. When attacked, it makes a sound similar to a donkey's cry. Its purpose is to scatter groups of Survivors in narrow places. Moving at the speed of the Survivors, he can instantly accelerate for a short time. However, after speeding up, the Brute slowly moves and turns. It's not as strong as a Tank, but it can still do about half of the Tank's damage when boosted. Also, the Brute is not very maneuverable, so it is easy to dodge him.

When grabbing a Survivor in his huge hand, he deals 15 points of damage per hit. The capture occurs on the condition that the Survivor was pressed against a wall or other "solid" surface. Externally, the Brute is a large Infected, reaching the height of a Tank, but twice as wide. The mutation affected him in a rather strange way: one arm tripled in size and turned into a kind of grip; the other was reduced to an absolutely useless process. The Brute is dressed in what looks like blue overalls from southern American farmers.

In early concept art, the Brute is depicted as a large zombie with a very small head and arms similar to a Tyrannosaurus Rex;

Initially, the Brute would instantly stop after capturing a Survivor;

At Comic Con, Brute made sounds like zombies from Ravenholm. In addition, some of his screams are remixes of zombies carrying poisonous headcrabs from Half-Life 2;

The Brute has the strangest sounds in the game. Some screams can be heard as "Don" t shoot me!" ("Don't shoot!");

In the picture of the "Meat Hammer" achievement, the mutated hands of the Brute are reversed;

While the artists were deciding on the appearance of the Thug, he ran in a modified model of the Hunter.

Spitter

The Spitter, referred to by the Survivors as the "Long-Necked Thing", is recognizable by its characteristic dry and hacking cough, after which it spits out what appears to be a lump of mutated stomach acid, which turns into a large pool of acid when it hits the ground. Its damage increases every second. A similar puddle of acid, but smaller in size, pours out of the body of a slain Spitter.

Any Survivor caught in the acid pool begins to lose health, forcing them to leave the area. Which, of course, plays into the hands of the Infected - Survivors can no longer set up barricades in some narrow passages or deaf rooms. The Spitter is often compared to the Fat Man because both are more of a combat support than an offensive unit. Unlike the Fat Man, her secretions (a lump of acid) bounce off the walls, which can help the Infected reach deep-seated opponents.

It was previously discussed that the Spitter is the female version of the Fat Man. Under the influence of the virus, the neck lengthened, and the stomach began to produce acid, which, in turn, replaced the hormones that attract ordinary infected. But this version was rejected after the videos with the Fat Woman appeared;

Spitter is the first playable female character;

Acid does not harm other Infected.;

It is possible that Spitter's abilities originate from a mutated form of heartburn;

In the first part of the game, in the hospital, one of the x-rays shows an elongated neck. It is possible that this patient was infected with the Spitter Virus.

Jockey

The Jockey is a small Infested hunchback that jumps on the back of the Survivors and grabs them by the head. The virus turned the Jockey into a heavily muscled creature in the back and neck, forcing him to move like a spider monkey. This is also facilitated by the fingers and toes increased in length. The stretched lips and the skin on the face tightly fit the skull. He is wearing a white T-shirt and blue boxer shorts. While running, it emits an indistinct muttering, similar to a monkey cry, turning into hysterical laughter when jumping on a Survivor.

The Jockey can jump long distances, but not as far as the Hunter. While on the Survivor, he can direct it in any direction. Jockey's damage is small. The player can weakly resist, slowing down the movement. Valve has mentioned that the Jockey works best in tandem with the Spitter, driving Survivors into acid. In the same way, you can force the Survivor to go into the fire or push him against the Witch.

This is the first Infected that can unhook from a Survivor at any time;

In the early stages of development, the Jockey was wearing a bright jersey;

Jockey was the first to be shown in a gameplay video;

Jockey is currently the smallest of the Infected;

The jockey is in many ways similar to "Fleaman" from the Castlevania video game series. Both are small, both jump like a monkey, and both can control players;

The player attacked by the Jockey sees a green light around him. Most likely, this is a clue to the possibility of resistance.

Wandering Witch

During the daytime, Survivors can encounter a Wandering Witch (also known as the Walking Witch or Day Witch), who attacks in the same way as in the first part, but instead of sitting and waiting for some curious Survivor to shine a light in her face flashlight, she wanders around the neighborhood. Sunlight has affected the Witch's body in a strange way, and now she no longer suffers from pain, which allows her to walk around the area. Nevertheless, she can be recognized by the characteristic sound of quiet sobs and new music. There is an opinion that the Witch is just trying to find a dark place, because. her eyes are closed. This explains why she attacks the Survivors with flashlights. The Wandering Witch is hard to get around, forcing new Survivors to take extreme measures. It is possible that the Survivors from the first part were aware of this behavior and therefore traveled at night.

When confronted by a Survivor, the Witch spreads her arms to the sides and, after a couple of seconds, rushes at him. It seems that the Witch needs to deal some damage before she will rush to the "accurate" shooter. She reacts to several pistol shots with a loud scream, after which she calms down and continues on her way. After sunset, the Wandering Witch sits down again and begins to sob, waiting for the Survivors. At night, the Witch in Left 4 Dead 2 is much less aggressive, even compared to the first part of the game. The player can safely stand next to the Witch until she shines a flashlight on her.

According to Game Informer Magazine, the player can easily sever the Witch's head from her torso with a single blow from an ax or katana, aiming at the back of the head.

Witch and Hunter are the only ones not featured in the Zombie Survival Guide trailer;

According to an interview with Chet Falitzek, the Witch clearly likes the smell of sugar, which explains the presence of a large number of Witches in the Rainstorm campaign.

The story of Left 4 Dead 2 is built on a lot of details and, at the same time, inconsistencies that make you look for answers in the levels and in the phrases of the characters. If you bring the disparate parts together, then the circle of the plot closes on the same, but allows you to look at the entire game from a different angle.

Valve managed to fulfill the idea from the first part, giving Left 4 Dead 2 a coherent story. In the original game, there were only hints that the campaigns were connected to each other, and the official storyline was as follows:

Campaign No Mercy: The starting point is the roof of a residential building. The extraction point is the rooftop of the Mercy Hospital. At the end of this campaign, the Survivors were picked up by a helicopter, but a little later it turned out that the pilot was infected, and all four ended up near the city of Riverside (Crash Course campaign).

Campaign crash course: The starting point is a parking lot in the working quarter. The evacuation point is the bus station. Moving through the town, the Survivors made their way to the bus depot, from which they left in an armored van, arriving after a while to their intended goal - Riverside (Death Toll campaign)

Campaign Death Toll: The starting point is the highway in front of the city. The evacuation point is the river bank. The passage was blocked by a fallen tree, many cars and a destroyed bridge, forcing the Survivors to get to the city on foot. At the end, the heroes are evacuated on a small fishing boat, and then landed in major city with its own airport (Dead Air campaign)

Campaign dead air: It can be assumed that nothing happened to the ferry, and Jack Slater and his wife Amanda continued to evacuate the Survivors from other settlements located along the river. As stated above, Bill, Louis, Francis and Zoe needed to get to the airport. The starting point is a greenhouse on the roof of a residential building. The evacuation point is the airport. Separate from the rest of the campaigns, there is Blood Harvest, which has no hints of connection with the rest of the campaigns.

Ask, why list all the campaigns from the first part? It's simple - the storyline of Left 4 Dead 2 resembles its predecessor in many details, although it has a rigid sequence. The path of the Coach, Rochelle, Ellis and Nick can be easily traced:

1) It is likely that the first meeting of the four takes place on the rooftop of The Vannah Hotel in the Dead Center campaign. Interesting details point to this - if you open the communication menu and look at another character, he will call him as if he sees him for the first time. For example, when addressing Nick, the Coach does not call him by his first name. "In a suit", "sir", but not "Nick". When the Survivors get to the elevator, the scene of the acquaintance of the Survivors occurs - they introduce themselves to each other, then starting to call each other by name. The only inconsistency is that in the introductory video, the Survivors make their way to the extraction point already being familiar with each other. Climbing the fire escape, Nick and Coach exchange a couple of phrases, while the sharpie-guest performer manages to subtly poke a good-natured man: - Who came up with the idea to place an evacuation point on the 25th floor? "Don't worry, Coach. Maybe this helicopter is made of chocolate! The coach loves chocolates - we can learn this a little earlier in the introductory video, as well as from the description of the character on the official website. However, if the Survivors are not familiar, then how does Nick know about the addiction of the satellite? However, you should not rack your brains over this issue - the introductory video is a “cut” from all campaigns and aims to show the game in a favorable light. So, at the very beginning, the Survivors search a shop located in a motel near the amusement park in Whispering Oaks. Most likely, the video was ready long before the end of development, and it is not worth judging the plot subtleties from it.

2) Having reached the mall, the heroes refuel and steal a car that allegedly drove the famous Jimmy Gibbs Jr. However, having covered a considerable distance along the highway, they encounter a large traffic jam that does not allow the car to go further. Stopping on the freeway due to the impossibility of driving further is another technique from the original. The Dark Carnival and Death Toll campaigns start on the highway, next to a broken or simply stopped car. Seeing searchlights in the distance, the Survivors move towards the Whispering Oaks amusement park in the hope of finding an active extraction point there. However, there is no mass evacuation there either - only one rescue helicopter flies over the amusement park. To get the attention of the pilot, the Survivors launch a prepared concert by the Midnight Riders and jump into the arriving transport directly from the stands.

3) Further, the plot takes a turn already familiar from the first part - the pilot turns out to be infected, and the helicopter crashes near the swampy area. The survivors make their way to an abandoned mansion and communicate by radio with a ship plying on the river. This is also a direct link to the first part, the Death Toll campaign. It is likely that Jack and Amanda Slater are not the only ones who have decided to cruise the water, transporting people to safe areas. After withstanding the siege of the infected, Coach, Ellis, Rochelle and Nick make it to the dock and complete their escape.

4) Next, the Survivors go ashore near the sugar factory "Ducatel Sugar & Co." in order to find fuel at the nearest gas stations (Ducatel also owns gas stations - another large organization). After passing through the plant, they find several canisters, pick them up and set off on their way back, but at this time a serious downpour begins with a thunderstorm - the flood washes away the roads and forces them to use non-standard paths - jump on the roofs of houses, go into the premises more often, and so on. After signaling the ferry with the sign of the Burger Tank fast food restaurant, the Survivors hold off the siege of the infected and proceed to the still-functioning evacuation point.

5) The Parish campaign takes place during the daytime - the ferryman drops Coach, Rochelle, Ellis and Nick almost at the very border of the quarantine zone. The heroes plan to get out of the cordon along the highway, but the city has already begun to be bombed, and the course is changing towards a large bridge passing over the river. Having contacted the military by radio and asked to postpone the undermining of the bridge, the Survivors move to the other side and board the rescue transport. This ends The campaign Parish and the main story of Left 4 Dead 2. Nick, Ellis, Coach, and Rochelle are likely to be taken to safety now, but there is still a lot of room for additional episodes - the setting of the announced The Passing campaign, where the Survivors from the first and second parts will meet , takes place between the events of Dead Center and Dark Carnival. Who did the ferryman go looking for during Hard Rain? Where else did Nick, Coach, Ellis and Rochelle look for fuel? Despite the completed story, the game left a lot of "tails" that allow you to add new adventures. Now let's move on to the details, which, of course, are the most interesting here.

Overall picture: Actually, the point is not even the originality of the plot as such, but its presentation - the main and obvious reason for what is happening in the game - the "zombie virus" - is silent, often recalling the CEDA corporation, which organized evacuation points together with the authorities. Unwinding a neatly tangled tangle, one can come to the simplest conclusion, which smacks of cliché: the virtual corporation CEDA has developed an equally virtual zombie virus that has spread throughout the virtual states. The variant of the experiment disappears: the propagation area is too large. The question of intrigues between CEDA and the authorities disappears in a similar way: evacuation centers were operating, and this is confirmed, for example, by the construction in the second map of the campaign The Parish - a large filtration point leading to the bus depot. It can also be assumed that initially the evacuation did not have such a large-scale character - some areas were simply quarantined.

Safe Room Writings: The developers claim that there is a connection between the writings on the walls of the safe rooms from the first and second parts, but only one is directly related to this. A survivor named KP, who left a note on the wall, apparently managed to get out of the city in the first part of Left 4 Dead (Dead Air campaign) and somehow ended up in the southern states, near the evacuation point (The Parish campaign):

Wall writing in the original Left 4 Dead. Translation: "Mark and Brianna, catch up if you can - I'll keep an eye on you." Signature - "KP". An entry in Left 4 Dead 2 (the word "CEDA" does not apply to it). Translation: "Greg, went to the park to the evacuation point." There really is a park nearby, which the Survivors have to overcome. Whoever this KP is, he's clearly not traveling alone. More, however, the intersecting wall inscriptions in Left 4 Dead 2 could not be found. The nature and style of messages is different, although sometimes familiar phrases come across.
