Most recently, a big update was rolled onto the live server under the number 0.21 . The patch note is quite extensive and deserves a detailed analysis. Did the developers manage to gain altitude and fly in the direction of success?

First impression

The changes affected everything from the maps to the ongoing redesign of the interface. We added new combat vehicles, a new map, sawed a lot of equipment up or down, almost finished work on the new interface. And you can’t say that this update contains something unusual or extremely cool. But a stable release of innovations and fixes for a thing was previously unstable, so players meet each patch like a holiday, and only then they look at what's new and interesting there.

On the one hand, we can say that the update is minor, since after that it’s hard to call major something in which the list of changes has less than 10 sheets. On the other hand, it is still a major with the number 0.21 . The patch, firstly, introduced a lot of extremely important balance and technical changes, and secondly, after all, new models of vehicles. From now on, let's take a closer look.

Game cards, new and not so

Added a new PvP map - "Panama Canal". The map size of 1300 x 1300 meters allows you to play more freely due to less time spent on moving from point A to point B. The map is divided into 2 parts ... What would you think? Panama Canal, of course. In addition, there is a small river that harms rather than helps here, eating away the usable area of ​​the map. Perhaps this moment will be somehow corrected by the release on the main servers.

For hybrid (PvP / PvE) mode clash added 2 cards from the PvP pool: "Nadym" and "Kashice". Now the most vigorous mode will be played even more fun. In addition to adding locations, changes have been made to the maps "Tkvarcelli", "Suez Canal" and "Bezmer".

PvE did not bypass and carried out mass optimization of graphics for different PC variations, improving performance on Low and Medium settings and adding prettiness at high graphics settings without compromising performance, I hope.

PvP maps also played tricks on the wave of general graphics optimization. On the maps "Alamo", "Batumi", "Bezmer", "Gori", "Mostar", "Nadym", "Panama Canal", "Tkvarcheli", "Umm-Qasr" and "Urizar" were well processed with a file Low and Mid and fixed a lot of minor bugs and flaws in the graphics. It's hard to call the changes cardinal, but they are noticeable.


A rich list of graphics fixes means that the developers have learned to work with the engine, and with each subsequent patch, horse system requirements can be systematically reduced due to general optimization, which will attract players who, due to the state of their computers, were not able to evaluate .

Gameplay

In terms of gameplay features, there are also quite a few new moments. Changed the mechanics of projectiles. Now BCS(Armor-Piercing HEAT Shells) will deal 25% additional damage when they break through armor. Bonus damage of tandem BCS will be 30%; KOS - 35%. BFS also slightly tweaked, increasing the detonation angle from 80 to 85 degrees and fixed many issues related to the behavior of shells when they hit one or another part of the tank.

Fixed moment with permanent fire when hit by external fuel tanks. Agree, a rather unfortunate omission, which for a long time spoiled stools, chairs and armchairs of players. Now this won't happen. ATGM now starts reloading immediately after a shot, instead of after a hit (or miss). Gameplay is built on such moments, and the correction of such inattentions or mistakes has a beneficial effect on the game itself and the nerves of the players.

Interface 2.0

I kicked the developers for promising a new interface, but we only received hangar and 1 menu with a redesign. In update 0.21, the oversight was fixed, now the whole interface redesigned and looks new. In addition to the redesigned interface, the interface has also been changed match results. It has become more informative and enjoyable. Of course, there were some problems in the first couple, but the developers gathered together and reduced all interface errors to nothing.

Along with the refinement of the interface, an interesting moment was added - "Minimalist hangar", which is outrageously simple and good. You know, as they say - simple and tasteful. The mini-hangar immediately fell in love with the players and, most likely, it will be installed on the vast majority of game clients. He does not eat FPS, which is very critical in the case of Almaty.

The conveyor, launched, never ceases to amaze. The update fixed a lot mistakes and shortcomings, which were insignificant relative to the whole game, but in specific battles they were very sad.

Made balance changes and optimization for many combat vehicles. The list is quite large, it consists of 50 items, and with each new iteration of the test, the list of changes grows and grows.

The changes concern entire classes and specific machines. For some AFVs, the number of ATGMs loaded was increased. MBTs are changing in all respects. Some tanks have their armor increased, some have their guns upgraded, and, in general, the whole section of vehicle changes goes towards improvement. Among the impressive list of changes, it is hard to find a line in which something has worsened. It's weird, but nice.

In addition to changing existing cars, they brought new ones straight from sunny Poland. We got four new cars: AFV of the sixth, seventh, eighth level, as well as a tank destroyer of the 10th level:

  • AFV level 6 BVP Šakal
  • AFV level 7 KTO Rosomak
  • AFV level 8 KTO Rosomak M1
  • IT Level 10 Wilk XC-8

In addition to Polish armored vehicles, 1 Chinese level 8 MBT was wormed into the column - Type 99G.

As for me, roll out a batch of BBM when these trucks deprived of many unique features, giving some of the chips to the class of light tanks, rather strange. After all, AFVs are now in prostration - it seems that the class is necessary, but it seems that it plays quite well without it. Of course, there are pluses:

  • New technology is always good;
  • Another top (level 10);
  • NATO variation of the Soviet BMP 1-2.
As in previous patches, Chang Feng continues to languish with empty branches. The game frankly lacks unusual Asian technology, which, against the background of the standards of the Soviet and Western schools of tank building, will look like the result of the work of Japanese advertisers and Chinese basement assemblers.

Alas, on this moment developers either cannot find information about such developments, or such a technique does not fit into the current development schedule. Chinese clones Soviet tanks- this, of course, is great and realistic, but there are at least a minimum of unique cars in the Chinese branch.

Summarizing

As a result of the analysis of the update 0.21 we can say that it turned out to be successful. New tanks, revision of old vectors, fixing game problems and flaws - these are all small parts of the success of the game that the developers are now leading everyone to.

Finally finished the game interface. Now he looks holistic and quite nice. New cards are not stamped on the conveyor, only changing snow for sand or greenery. Maps are made original, unique and, importantly, with realistic weather conditions, this quite strongly affects the perception of the game. Yes, even though the gameplay on some of them is rather strange, and some classes of armored vehicles drop out of them, let them, but the card makers receive feedback from the players, improving and introducing new features.

I am also extremely glad that programmers have finally begun to learn about the graphics engine and turn it step by step Battle City with requirements into something appropriate.

P.S. Initially, the patchnote was rather modest, but with each passing day and iteration of testing, the list of changes grew and grew and grew. Now the general list of changes can be not entirely honest, but still be compared with the amount of work done. 0.19 was made for six months. 0.21 is at least 2 times less. My respect for such a volume of work done.

Recordings of battles - replays - have been added to the game. The recording can be turned on before the start of the battle and viewed after it is over an unlimited number of times. You can speed up or slow down the recording, change the position of the camera.

A new vehicle in the game is the M1134 Tank Destroyer, a Tier 7 premium tank.

Due to the popularity of the Swingfire, the developers decided to introduce another ATGM-only model, the M1134, into the game. It belongs to the Stryker family of four-axle vehicles, one of which, the M1128 MGS with a 105mm cannon, is already featured in Project Armata. The M1134 is armed with two BGM-71 TOW ATGM launchers. A volley of two BGM-71E missiles with a tandem warhead is capable of causing significant damage to any tank on the battlefield. The hull armor is quite thin, but can be supplemented with a DZ complex, which increases resistance against BKS and ATGMs. A powerful 350-horsepower Caterpillar turbodiesel, which provides it with excellent mobility, allows you to avoid return fire and quickly change positions.


In case of danger, the M1134 can put up a smoke screen and hide from the danger zone or avoid open confrontation with enemy vehicles.


A new map "Uranium Mine" has been added to the PvP mode, with a map size of 1.2 km by 1.2 km! Desert landscape, huge mining equipment, winding dirt roads - the atmosphere on the map is worked out to the smallest detail. Difficult terrain with many roads and elevation changes is suitable for both close and long-range combat.

Three new missions will appear in PvE mode: Operations Snegir, Snowstorm and Cerberus. In the first two, players will fight in harsh winter conditions, while the action of the last, on the contrary, takes place in a hot desert. In Operation Cerberus, the fighters will have to deal with several enemy officers, and in Snegir and Buran they will have to fight for resources and control over the territory.

Also in the update there are several changes and innovations that will significantly affect game process. They should be noted separately.

  • Reworking the mechanics of LT and IT penetration. As part of the gameplay refinement for vehicles of level 6 and above, the armor penetration indicators of the LT and IT of the corresponding levels were improved (if they were below average). Also, for some IT, this parameter was increased, even if it was within the average value.
  • emergency kits. Now in the hangar you can purchase special spare parts for credits, which will allow you to return to service if your vehicle is destroyed during a PvE mission. To return to battle, you will need to press the confirmation button within 30 seconds after losing the vehicle. The vehicle will appear at the checkpoint with 60% durability and ammo. She will be invulnerable for 15 seconds. Only one set can be taken into battle (as well as other consumables), which is placed in a special slot. Thus, the player will have to choose between an emergency set and a field set. Available only from tier 5 and has a fixed cost.
  • Processing of penetration of vulnerable zones of MBT. The effective thickness of wheel and roller armor has been changed. This will eliminate situations where the shots ricochet off the rollers and wheels at a very sharp angle. The armor of the bottom of all vehicles has been changed: now the shells will not ricochet from it. Machine guns have been reworked: now shots will not ricochet off them. This was due to their rounded shape, and the guns turned out to be an additional factor of protection. Now their armor is reduced, and small-caliber guns will be able to penetrate them at the sharpest angles. As before, all damage will be taken by the gun, the hull will remain undamaged when it hits the gun.
  • Declination angles at IT. Starting with version 0.14, the developers begin a large-scale work to improve the gun inclination system. Now the cars will be able to get the best angles of declination not only in the forehead and stern, but also on the sides. The developers plan to change this feature for all machines that require it.   • PvE SPG earning bonus increased from 20% to 40%.

Soft Reset

Since the changes in "Balance 2.0" involve rebalancing vehicles, removing or replacing vehicles, and general reworking of the main parameters, we have provided the possibility of a "soft" reset of the progression with compensation for the money spent. Within a month, you will be able to reset all progress in vehicles once and redistribute points for upgrading new vehicles. This process cannot be undone. Unlike previous vendors, this one doesn't have starting vehicles available right away. In addition, the branch starts from the third level. To unlock it, the player must complete a certain task. While in PvP or PvE, you need to deal a certain amount of damage to the enemy. In this case, you must be no further than 150 meters from your allies. Alternatively, the player can purchase the premium tank WZ-1224.

New map for PvP
Player vs Player style battles can now be played in a new location called "Peace Frontier". This Mediterranean city was once peaceful and quiet, but now a fierce battle is taking place here.

The features of this map are narrow streets, open area next to the coastline. Thanks to its architecture (map size 1.2x1.2 km), players can come up with various tactics, set up ambushes and try to make flanking maneuvers. Approximately 1/3 of the map is classic urban development, and the rest is open area. "Peace Frontier" is available in standard mode games, as well as in "Capture".

New PvE Rewards
In the latest 0.12 patch, players receive less rewards for PvE than in PvP. However, they do not pay for the maintenance of their car, the only exception is spare parts. The final results for the battle in the average battle of players without a bonus are similar. But for experienced players, as well as users who have acquired a premium status, it is not particularly profitable to fight in this mode.

While solving this problem, the developers considered different outcomes, and in the end decided that the best outcome would be to create similar reward systems for both modes. As a result, a system of contracts was developed.

The changes in this regard are quite large, but in short, if the mission is successfully completed, the reward will increase several times at all difficulty levels. The improved system will affect all levels, but will be especially useful for experienced players and premium users. In addition to the overall increase in rewards, the multipliers of credits for the difficulty of the task, as well as the level of technology, have increased. If earlier on the "Veteran" the multiplier was 1.3, now it will become 2; and the multiplier for Tier 9 vehicles will increase from 3.1 to 4.2. The distribution of awards for both the main and Additional tasks. At the same time, the price of field kits will decrease. So-called "contracts" will appear - the player acquires a contact by choosing a mission. The price of the contract will vary. If the player is killed at the beginning of the mission, will not pay the full cost, and will not receive a negative result.

Improved matchmaker
The matchmaking system has been improved and the gameplay for players will be more balanced. There were some problems with the last matchmaking. For example, earlier there were such cases as fragmentation in levels: there were three tanks in one team high level, and in the opposite team in cars with a similar level was not enough. Now, such squads will only come across against similar squads or where other vehicles of the corresponding level will be present. For self-propelled guns, the rules have become tougher, this is necessary so that the level in the teams is the same.
These changes can sometimes result in longer waits for Platoon matchmaking. But the gameplay will be more balanced. And solo players will get into the game faster, especially at higher levels.

It is worth noting that the math chaker will still be tested for a long time, and accordingly, if necessary, it will be adjusted.

Updated equipment system
The opening of certain equipment and commanders through self-propelled guns caused some difficulties and problems for some players. The developers could not help but notice this problem, and the system was redesigned. Commanders and equipment that can be unlocked on SPGs are now also available in the modification branches of other vehicles. The player can choose which car he needs in order to open the right one.

Technology updates
To increase the effectiveness of flank attacks on the enemy MBT, the armor of the stern was reduced. For levels 2-6 by 20%, for levels 7-9 by 40%. The default eyebrow thickness remains the same.

This change will be especially effective for high-tier vehicles equipped with autocannons, because if they hit the stern, they will immediately break through. But for LT, IT and MBT guns, this change will be almost imperceptible. So far, this is the first change regarding the MBT penetration zones, large-scale work will not end with this - further it is planned to change the armor of the sides of vehicles of the same class.

How to start playing Warfare Armored: Project Armata?

Stage 1. Registration
In order to start playing a multiplayer tank action game, you first need to create account. To do this, click on the "Download game" button, which is located on the main page in the upper right corner.

A registration window will appear in front of you, where you will need to enter the mail.ru email address, a password from it, and also come up with a nickname for the forum. After that, check the correctness of the entered data and click on the "Register" button.

After authorization/registration, you can proceed directly to downloading the game. To do this, go to the download page at this link. On the page you will find links to download the installation file, additional software, as well as recommended system requirements for comfortable game in Armored Warfare: Project Armata.

After downloading ArmoredWarfareLoader.exe to your computer, run it. When you first start you will be prompted to select the folder and drive where the downloaded games will be stored. Stage 3. Launching the game
