Controls in oculus rift games

Games designed for the oculus rift are usually played while seated, as a sensor is built into the helmet to determine the position of the head, which is calculated on the fact that the user is in a sitting position. The game is controlled by manipulating the joystick or a special remote control (to control your character in various virtual non-game worlds).
We need to leave a separate word about the equipment - a system that provides tactile feedback that comes with the headset. The developers have solved one of the important tasks of their system - giving users the opportunity to experience tactile sensations.

Summing up the article

Summing up, it is worth noting that the virtual reality helmet described in this article is supported by a large number of video game developers due to a number of advantages. It has a large field of view, which provides a better immersion in the game. Next is head tracking - this option allows you to not use the buttons on the keyboard to look away in the game (unlike other Oculus Rift competitors.).
Each game is perfectly realized by the helmet thanks to the use of side-by-side development, thanks to which, separate frames are assigned to each eye.

In general, this product stands up well to competition from other companies and deserves the attention of consumers.

Thank you for reading the article to the end! Please leave your opinion in the comments. If it's not difficult for you, share it on social networks with your friends. It will give us extra motivation.

It's an amazing thing, and this month it just got even cooler. On December 6, 2016, the long-awaited release of Oculus Touch took place, and with it came new fantasy games. Because of this, we felt it was urgent to update our list of the best Rift games to include all the new offerings.

The list includes 9 of the best games, which in our opinion are by far the best games that the Rift has to offer in the post-Touch era. But before we get started, there are a few caveats you need to know. The list does not include games like Lucky's Tale and EVE: Valkyrie, both of which are great games but come with most headsets. We also didn't include the free, simplified versions of Farlands, First Contact, or Oculus Dreamdeck.

The games in this list are in no particular order, as we encourage you to try each one. Let's start!

Windlands

Windlands is very cool game. No, let's try again. Windlands is amazing. Still don't believe? Okay, one more try. Windlands is so good that if there weren't people in my life who would tell me: "Hey dude, we haven't seen you in a hundred years" or "You know you need to wash your clothes sometimes?" I probably wouldn't stop playing it at all.

Windlands, developed by Psytec Games, is a game that will give you everything you expect from games. Addictive gameplay? There is. Beautiful visuals? Yes. Addictive atmosphere? Oh yeah. And to top it all off, Windlands now comes with a free update for Touch, turning an already mesmerizing, eye-driven gameplay into a hands-on game. Here you can definitely feel like Spider-Man.

What really makes Windlands so great, besides being an amazing video game, is that it's an amazing VR game. It was created specifically for VR. A game where you fly through the air in first person like Spider-Man, solve the mysteries of antiquity, all this would be fun in 2D, but in VR on the Rift it becomes something completely different: it becomes legendary.

Note: This game is also available on HTC Vive, but I prefer to play it on the Rift. You will have to do a lot of fast head movements in this game, so Rift's lighter headset and ergonomic design will make your game experience much more enjoyable. Touch controllers also seem to be more comfortable.

DiRT Rally

DiRT Rally officially pushed Project Cars off this list as the number 1 racing game for the OCulus Rift helmet. Don't get me wrong, Project Cars beautiful game with stunning immersion, but DiRT supplants it with bold gameplay that perfectly matches the unique advantages of a VR headset.

The nerve-wracking turns and sequential decision-making that take place in DiRT Rally outside of racing create a completely alive sense of reality. Every sharp turn seen at the last second or the terrifying turnaround is felt inside the helmet. Each victory becomes exciting, long-awaited and difficult to achieve. Add this steering wheel to everything, and you will have an excellent option for escaping from your children forever.

And always remember: don't cut.

The Climb

If you've read about The Climb in magazines, be sure that the text is completely unable to convey the atmosphere of the game to you. Suggestions like "You look around to place your dangling hands on a rock and then grab the rails while holding the buttons" won't get your heart pumping like The Climb can.

The original gamepad-controlled layout, despite some quibbles, immerses you in incredible ways in the world of rock climbing with just 2 buttons. I held on to those triggers tighter than Rose held on to that floating door in the Titanic, which, by the way, could definitely fit 2 people.

Now The Climb also has a free update for Oculus Touch, making zooming facades more exciting and catchy than ever. Trust me, if you fall while climbing, you will definitely remember it. You feel absolutely at one with nature in this game, which seems strange for a video game, but it's really wonderful. So now you can tell your mom that you don't have to go out anymore. You have The Climb.

The Unspoken

Before The Unspoken, we were very skeptical about online multiplayer for Oculus Rift. After The Unspoken, all doubts disappeared: they definitely rule.

The Unspoken is the third game in the Insomniac trilogy that came out for the Rift this year. The game immerses you in the dark streets of Chicago, where you, in a Chuck Taylor scarf and trench coat, try on the image of a modern-day sorcerer who is trying to unravel the tangle of dark conspiracies and intrigues. Although the game's story jumps from one point in time to the next, The Unspoken is fully multiplayer. online game(with the exception of a few, limited, offline modes for practice).

You'll spend your time choosing between three unique classes, adjusting the power of spells and artifacts, and then perfecting your technique on the battlefield. The Unspoken is addictive and fun game, with a fantastic use case for the new Touch controllers. Whether you're throwing a fireball or making a police car levitate, it all feels natural and exhilarating on the new Oculus platform.

The organization of fights takes place within seconds, not minutes, which was the main concern before the launch of the game. Dive in, learn magic and who knows, maybe you will become the greatest VR magician in the world.

Arizona Sunshine

If you've ever sat down with friends and played How Would We Survive the Zombie Apocalypse?, then Arizona Sunshine is the must-play for you. Developers from Vertigo Games will take you directly to the sun-bleached deserts of Arizona. The landscapes would be very picturesque if the legions of the dead did not roam through them.

Armed with only a pair of pistols, you set out to find food, ammo and shelter through a zombie-infested desert in search of shelter from their endless hordes. The gameplay of Arizona Sunshine is intuitive, main character amazingly voiced, and the story will make you feel the desperation that comes with the end of the world.

The game has different levels of difficulty, where in order to defeat the zombies they need to deal different damage, while not spending all the ammunition. These levels culminate in "Apocalyptic Mode", which is almost impossible to complete as you'll have to think through every shot. There is also an online mode that you can play with your friends, and thanks to the shooting and reloading mechanics, you will definitely be involved in the process of your own survival.

In a market filled with zombie shooters, Arizona Sunshine is definitely ahead of the game.

Obduction

Obduction is a game that will bring out the fear in you that you didn't know about before, the fear of windows. Developed by Cyan, Inc. - creators legendary game Myst takes exploration and storytelling to new heights for the entire VR industry.

In Obduction, you explore a ghost town that appears to be plucked straight out of the old west. The only clue? You are on an alien planet and you have no chance of getting home. Here you go on a long journey of searching, solving mysteries and intriguing puzzles.

Obduction is a game for thinking. If you want to blow things up or shoot huge guns, then this game is not for you. But if you're looking for adventure, you've come to the right place. But remember, the world is not what it seems.

Dead and Buried

Let's move from the ghost town to the real wild west. Dead and Buried, the first game developed entirely by Oculus Studios, is multiplayer online shooter with one peculiarity: here you are already dead. You were brought back to life by a mysterious ghost to, as he puts it, "take out a couple of bad guys...or a couple of good ones."
D&B is rich in game modes, here you can organize team shootouts or steal in the style of cops and robbers. Big choice weapons and strategies in each mode, so gather your friends and set off to conquer the phantom west with your brains, muscles, and kilos of hot lead.

Edge of Nowhere

Insomniac is one of the most prolific gaming studios today. They own such hits as Ratchet & Clank, Spyro and Sunset Overdrive. Edge of Nowhere was Insomniac's first foray into VR and is one of the few Rift games ever developed by an official AAA developer.

Edge of Nowhere is a 3rd person psychological thriller that takes you not only to the edge of the Arctic, but also to the edge of your common sense. A little bit of crypto and an unforgettable VR experience awaits you, this is not to be missed.

Damaged Core

In Damaged Core you play as artificial intelligence, whose job is to capture enemy robots and use their unique weapons and skills to defeat evil and save the human race. In my opinion, this is almost a masterpiece. Even though you need a gamepad to play, the jumping mechanic creates a deeper sense of freedom and immersion than most indoor games I've tried.

Combine all of this with incredible visuals, a captivating story, and interesting characters, and you have one of the most complete and impressive VR games on this or any other platform.

Now stop reading and run to play!

When purchasing an Oculus Rift now, you should think in advance how and what you will play. We know the most anticipated games for the Rift in the near future, but in addition, Oculus introduced about 30 new titles at the recent E3 2016 exhibition.

The world of indie games has taken over Oculus, but big and famous headlines are starting to take their share of the VR market fast.
