The best quests on pc. Fifteen of the best quests in the history of games

In recent years, the word "quest" has become more and more associated with young guys who rush around the city performing strange tasks and looking for a mysterious code in abandoned houses. But the oldfags know that in fact the quest is the noblest genre of PC games. An endangered species that is gradually being forced out of the world of the gaming industry.

Even 15-20 years ago, quests confidently sat on the gaming throne, captivating gamers. Static pictures did not require much PC power, but at the same time they looked an order of magnitude better than square pixels in games of those times.

Today you will not surprise anyone with graphics. Compete with modern games, with their incredible special effects and constant action, is almost an impossible task for quests. Although the budget for their creation is not small: to find good artists, hire professional writers... So the developers have to either survive at the expense of already promoted titles, or come up with something fundamentally new.

Nevertheless, the quest is alive - and the most alive representatives of this genre are collected in our rating.

Best Games: Quests for PC

  • Developer: Her Interactive
  • Year: since 1998

It is unlikely that there is a longer series in the quest genre than the investigations of Nancy Drew, a young detective girl (according to the plot, she is 18 years old). It's no joke, Her Interactive have already released 32 games and are not going to stop.

However, why be surprised? From 1930 to 2003, 175 volumes of Nancy Drew detective stories were published; Nancy appeared on the movie screens back in 1938 and has not left them until now, appearing in different images not only in films, but also in serials. The best quests from the Nancy Drew series: "The White Wolf of the Ice Gorge", "The Last Train to the Moon Gorge", "The Secret of the Shadow Ranch".

First-person gameplay hasn't changed much over the years. Therefore, it is enough to familiarize yourself with any game from the series to get a general idea of the franchise. A certain feature of Nancy Drew can be called a low age rating: often without restrictions, and in several games 10+. Such harmlessness, coupled with the worldwide fame of the main character, made it possible to introduce many women to computer games. You can use this as a hack 😉

9. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

  • Developer: Frogware
  • Year: since 2002

I am quite far from the domestic game industry, so until recently I knew about the existence of only 2 Ukrainian Games: Stalker and Cossacks. "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" allows you to expand this list by 50%, because the development of the game series was carried out by the Kyiv company Frogwares. The guys even developed their own graphics engine, which they successfully used until 2014.

Since 2002, 7 games have been released about the great detective:

  • "Five Egyptian figurines" (2002);
  • "The Mystery of the Silver Earring" (2004);
  • "Sherlock Holmes and the Secret of Cthulhku" (2006);
  • "Sherlock Holmes vs. Arsene Lupin" (2007);
  • "Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper" (2009);
  • "The Last Will of Sherlock Holmes" (2012);
  • Crimes and Punishments (2014);
  • Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter is scheduled for release on May 27, 2016.

Those who want to get acquainted with the adventures of Sherlock can start with Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which has received good ratings from many game resources. And the owners can be advised "The Secret of Cthulhu" or "Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper." Although almost all parts can boast of consistently high-quality plots and well-developed "classic" components of the quest: collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses and solving puzzles will help uncover intriguing secrets.

8. L.A. noire

  • Developer: Rockstar Games
  • Year: 2011

When Rockstar Games takes on another project, gamers are in for a real masterpiece. Yes, their games are brutal and often encourage mindless violence, but when it comes to story, characters, dialogue, and virtual world, - the guys from New York have set the bar so high that many competitors can only dream of such professionalism. And this is confirmed by detective L.A. Noire: You can't call it a thoroughbred quest, but the game is worthy of the attention of those who like to unravel mysteries.

The game takes place in 1947 in Los Angeles. You will act as a police detective named Cole Phelps and your task will be to solve a number of crimes. To succeed, you will need to examine the places where they occurred, in search of clues and all sorts of clues, and interview witnesses that can lead to a criminal. It is on your attention to detail and scrupulousness that it will depend on how complete a picture of what is happening you will see.

Game Features

  1. Detailed city and buildings. At first, it is especially interesting to ride around Los Angeles, the outskirts of which look like a typical village.
  2. Thoughtful dialogues. They play an important role in the game. When interrogating witnesses or suspects, you need to be extremely concentrated, watching what turn the interrogation takes. Once I was out of shape, and in one case, a seasoned gang of hijackers got off with a slight fright, and in another case, I missed a dangerous pedophile.
  3. The game has a main storyline (26 missions) and two secondary ones presented in the form of cut scenes. In this case, one of the plots will appear only if you regularly “read” local newspaper. In addition, the gamer will be able to take part in dozens of short missions, the so-called "street crimes": catch a bank robber, participate in the chase, shoot gangsters in the alley. In a word, then and in L.A. Noire you will quickly find something to do.
  4. Participation in the project of professional actors. To create the game, the guys from Rockstar hired several dozen professional actors. I learned a good half of them from the series,. And I'll tell you that the facial expressions and play of these actors will help you a lot during interrogations.
  5. And finally: in the settings you can enable the function black and white screen. And then the whole entourage - clothes, cars, music, dialogues - will take you to the atmosphere of noir films.

Flaws

  1. Initially, the game was made and only after a while it was ported to the PC. The process did not go well, giving gamers a lot of bugs and glitches. But don't let the hardships rob you of the fun. With the help of the all-knowing Internet, you can easily solve all the bugs and enjoy the game.
  2. Many aspects in L.A. Noire are done through the sleeves. For example: you shoot a suspect in the leg and he falls dead. During firefights, there is no life indicator and information about the number of your cartridges. Cars behave badly on the road (I mean handling), and such evidence as fingerprints does not exist in principle.

But during the game you don’t focus on the shortcomings, you are so absorbed by the plot, dialogues and a well-drawn city.

7. Myst

  • Developer: Amanita Design
  • Year: 1993

I hope modern gaming connoisseurs who experience epileptic seizures at the mere thought of have been happily resuscitated after their eyes fell on the year Myst was published. Fear not, dear graphomaniacs: the first part has been reanimated several times using modern 3D engines. In addition, 5 more parts came out after it (if you count Uru). The best of them, perhaps, was Myst 4: Revelation (2004).

Myst's signature gameplay is a 360-degree panoramic view. At the same time, if in the previous parts two-dimensional images were rather static and were animated only by rare animation or video inserts, then in Revelation the developers created a truly living world. Small details, like a flying dragonfly, the rustle of leaves, or a frog in a pond that can be frightened away by a careless movement, give a truly cool feeling that real life is in full swing around the hero.

The locations that you have to travel to stop the next bad guys and save the girl, as in the previous parts, remain incredibly colorful. Just for the sake of these fabulous landscapes, Myst 4: Revelation is worth playing. Moreover, the game has 2 alternative endings.

  • Developer: Daedalic Entertainment
  • Year: 2012

The game was originally conceived as a trilogy, the final part of which was released on March 1, 2016. Chaos on Deponia and Goodbye Deponia are the names of the second and third parts. All of them received high marks from users and critics, so it makes no sense to single out any one of them: it's better to get acquainted with this creation from beginning to end.

5. Machinarium

  • Developer: Amanita Design
  • Year: 2009

Josef the cleaning robot has been framed! He is not guilty of anything! But try to prove it: Josef is escorted out of the Machinarium and sent to a dump - a prison for robots. The main character will not only have to get out of the landfill, but also stop the gang of Black Hats, who, as befits any villains, have planned to undermine something there.

Several English-language gaming portals recognized Machinarium as the best indie game of 2009. Igromania did not stand aside, giving in the same 2009 to the Machinarium the title of the quest of the year. At the festival of independent games, the project won in the nomination "unsurpassed mastery in the visual arts." All these achievements are especially impressive if you consider that the development team had only 7 enthusiasts who created the "Machinarium" in 3 years, spending ... $ 1000 on it.

Botanicula, 2012

In 2012, Amanita Design released another successful quest with similar animation - Botanicula. Admirers of Machinarium'a are definitely recommended for passing.

4 Broken Sword

  • Developer: Revolution Software
  • Year: 1996

A wonderful quest with pleasant humor and an atmosphere in the spirit. By chance, the main character, George Stobbart, will have to retrain from a tourist to a detective in order to uncover an insidious conspiracy. In this he will be helped by a charming companion, Nicole Kollar.

The game series consists of 4 parts and 2 remasters of the first two games (they were released back in 1996/97). The third part, Broken Sword: Sleeping Dragon, appeared in 2003 and was original in its own way. The developers decided to transfer what is happening in 3D and refuse to use the mouse cursor so that the quest does not turn into another thoughtless “clicking” of the screen. Instead, they added a bit of adventure in the spirit of Tomb Rider.

The game turned out to be exciting, although not everyone liked the lack of a mouse. In the 4th part, Revolution Software decided to meet the fans by returning their beloved cursor.

3. Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

  • Developer: Funcom
  • Year: 2006

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey was well deservedly recognized by readers of Absolute Games of the best adventure game in 2006. From time to time, Dreamfall turns from a quest into an action-adventure with stealth elements. The main plot links together 2 opposing worlds: one is a high-tech world of the future, the second is a fabulous fantasy world. The story involves 3 different characters, each with their own story and their own goals. But gradually their destinies are intertwined.

The quest is very exciting: carefully crafted characters and a mixture of different genres have created an interesting gameplay. And several worlds, between which the heroes travel, give a real variety of locations. Many quests lack this versatility, but certainly not Dreamfall: one mission takes place in a futuristic metropolis of the future, the next throws you into some fabulous eastern city, and after that you can find yourself among green meadows or snow-covered slums.

"Syberia" is a 100% classic quest with nice 3D graphics. The success of the first part laid the foundation for its continuation - in 2004, Syberia 2 was released, which lived up to the expectations of the fans and looked like a harmonious continuation of the story. In 2012, work began on the third part, the release of which is scheduled for the end of 2016.

Quests for quests are very interesting and popular entertainment. Players are given various riddles and hints, with the help of which they move from one point of a given route to the next, receiving pleasant surprises for this.

Questions asked by the participants are often united by one topic, which is the subject of the quest. The main requirement for their compilation is diversity and unusualness. The degree of fun of the game depends on how difficult they will be. But when coming up with hints, it is also important not to go too far and not make them overly complicated.

Main classification

The simplest tasks for quests in terms of preparation are questions in notes. They are encrypted on leaves that participants need to find or earn at each stage of the competition. There are many varieties of them.

    1. The name of the next point of movement is cut into separate letters, having correctly added them, the participants will find out where to go next.
    2. The use of puzzles and charades. They can combine pictures, numbers, letters, which, if interpreted correctly, give clues about the further route of movement.
    3. Riddles in logical series. For example: "Heat is born in the oven, but where does the cold come from?"
    4. A variant in the best espionage traditions - tips written on paper using melted wax. To find out the answer, you need to paint over the leaf with colored pencils.
    5. Accommodation along the entire route of the signs. But it does not have to be ordinary arrows at all. You can use flowers of a certain type or traces of an animal. In this form, tasks are often done for For example, you can tell them: "Follow in the footsteps of a lion cub and you will find a pleasant surprise."
    6. The phrase that makes up the hint may contain mixed words. Players need to arrange them in the correct order. Only then will they know what to do next.
    7. The assignment is written backwards and must be read correctly.
    8. The hint is applied to the paper using lemon juice or milk. Together with the leaf, the participants are given a candle and a lighter, thanks to the heat from the fire of which the words should appear and direct the players to the next item.
    9. Digital encryption of words is used. For example, instead of each letter, its serial number in the alphabet is written. The key to the puzzle must be guessed or won at one of the previous stages.
    10. As a task for the quest in the room, you can use an item that is in the room in several copies, in one of which instructions are hidden regarding further actions. It can be a book, a box, a bedside table and the like.
    11. Another interesting option- using the hints written in the form Their decoding is not an easy task, but it is very exciting and interesting.
    12. Riddles can be encrypted using pictures, each of which symbolizes part of the name of the next destination.
    13. Messages are also laid out with magnets on the refrigerator door.
    14. Notes are hidden inside cookies, sweets and other products.

In order for the participants to successfully complete all stages of the competition and get the maximum amount of pleasure from it, the tips must be interesting and original. For the victory in each individual stage and the game as a whole, it is necessary to prepare prizes.

Since tasks for quests directly depend on the chosen topic of the competition, let's consider the most popular options for holding it.

You can get confused even within four walls

You don't have to go outside to play this game. The tasks for the quest indoors are no less exciting than outside. There are several varieties of this type of game.

  1. Room escape. Already by the name itself it is clear where this competition is held. Its essence lies in the fact that participants are locked in an entire apartment or a separate room, and with the help of clues they must find the key to get out of it. This is a very unusual and interesting way to entertain guests who have come, for example, to celebrate a birthday.
  2. Tasks for the quest in the office Great for surprising your boss. If the firm is small, each employee can come up with one puzzle for the boss and enjoy plenty of watching him rush around the building in search of a clue and his gift. The office is an ideal place to hide a lot of clues, solving which will be an unforgettable entertainment.
  3. interesting examples of tasks for a quest in a shopping center. And if it is also large, you can organize a truly unforgettable game in it. Indeed, in large shopping complexes it is often possible to get lost, even just making purchases, and what can we say about looking for clues and solving puzzles! For example, you can give the participants a photo of a dress, and they will have to find out its price. But first you need to find a boutique that sells this particular model of clothing. Also, as an option, hide the leaflet with the next task in some kind of jacket, which will also need to be found from the photo. But in the case of this task, it will be necessary to warn the store staff in advance so that no one accidentally sells this item to anyone.

We turn on the brains to the fullest

Who said that intellectuals can only be measured by their knowledge? They can be no less nimble and active than others. If among your friends there are several such " bookworms”, make them get out of their textbook-cluttered rooms and unwind in the fresh air.

Arrange a quest for them in the style of TV shows "Who wants to be a millionaire?", "The smartest" and "What? Where? When?" Prepare encrypted messages-hints for knowledge of various facts from history, geography, physics, biology and any other sciences. Make sure that the answer to each question serves as a clue to the next destination.

You can also organize a similar test for your significant other on the anniversary of your relationship or on any other holiday. Only in this case, questions must be tied to dates, places and events from a joint life.

If your "victim" loves the series "The Big Bang Theory", connect its main character Sheldon Cooper to the case. Intricate notes, written in an abstruse style in the style of this eccentric physicist, will greatly amuse any connoisseur of intellectual humor and make him thoroughly rack his brains over clues.

For the little ones

Children's tasks for a quest game can be no less exciting and interesting than adults. To organize such a competition for your child and his friends, use your favorite cartoon characters or computer games. Write questions on the leaves with the image of a particular character. You can use images from one cartoon, organizing the entire quest in his style, or from several at once.

The Klondike computer game can serve as an excellent source of inspiration. Quests and tasks based on it are in search of various artifacts related to the theme of the Wild West. For more realism, children can be put on or fully dressed up in best traditions westerns.

Participants can go on a treasure hunt by following the directions on the map. On it, you will depict several streets closest to the house, having issued in the style of the Klondike game. Quests and tasks of this type involve searching for treasures, opening caches, asking friends for help, etc. This adventure will bring a lot of joy and nice gifts to kids. Any holiday with such a game will become an unforgettable event in the life of every child.

"Klondike", quests and tasks in which are very exciting and diverse, is far from the only option interesting game. Also great will be a mobile quiz in the style of the movie "Pirates caribbean". At the final point of the journey, a man dressed as Jack Sparrow will be waiting for them, who will hand over the treasure to the winner.

Hiding the answers away

You can come up with a variety of interesting tasks for the quest. For example, use your old suitcase with Hide the grand prize in it. And let the participants collect the cipher that will help open it by number throughout the game.

To come up with tasks for quests in the apartment, use a deck of cards. Scratch the end of it for the next step and shuffle it well. To parse the message, the players will have to put the cards in the right order. Give them a hint, which will say something from the category "Hearts, clubs, spades and diamonds will reveal the secrets of the future to you." This way you will let the players know what they should look for the cards, as well as in what order they need to be placed.

We present gifts in an original way

To unusually present a gift to a birthday man, you can also use the quest. Birthday tasks can be very different. For example, you can arrange a whole trip around the city in search of a present. The end point will be a dressing room with a bunch of boxes, in one of which the treasured souvenir will be hidden, and in order to find it, you will have to open them all.

You can also arrange an exciting quest around the city, the tasks of which will lead the birthday boy to a place where a surprise congratulatory party awaits him. You can start your journey in the following way. Leave a piece of cake in your friend's room from the night with a note containing something like this: “Well, your birthday has come. Today everything will be for you, but to get the prepared amenities, you will have to work hard. After all, nothing in this life comes easy. And even your holiday is no exception. To get started, dress comfortably, eat a cake, recharge your batteries from a coffee. What to do next - you will soon find out.

If you are going to give the birthday man some clothes or jewelry, you can leave the following message in the coffee jar: “I hope you liked the cake and you finally finally woke up. If yes - well done! Now take something stylish with you and go in search of your happiness. Even if there is no surprise among the things, you can simply hide a note in the closet with further instructions.

If you want to present a mobile phone for a birthday in an unusual way, let the participant receive one number at each stage of the game. Of these, the phone number will consist, by calling which, in the final, the birthday boy will find his gift.

Dealing with insidious numbers

Interesting tasks for the quest can be thought up using numbers in a variety of ways. These can be both the most elementary tasks from the category of counting the number of steps in the house, and tricky puzzles. You can encrypt the code in a magazine or book. Participants will first have to guess the name of the required publication, and then, using the given page, line and word numbers, find a hint for the next action.

Quest tasks also often consist of deciphering the phone number of the person who received the key to the next step by e-mail. To guess the cherished numbers, you need to find information on the Internet about the height, age of stars or dates of famous and not very events as soon as possible. Such a puzzle might look like this.

illustrative example

"Are you finally here? I can't even believe that I made it! I am sure that you will not go further, because this task is clearly beyond your power. The fact is that required code was sent to one person whose name I will not say. You can only contact him by phone, but you won't get his number either. Like it or not, you'll have to guess it. So the first number is Arnold Schwarzenegger's weight in grams, you need the second number. Next - the fourth number of the year of birth of Leonardo DiCaprio. Then - the second growth figure of his partner in "The Wolf of Wall Street". René Zellweger's birthday. Then - the second half of the size of Penelope Cruz's legs. And the last figure is the number when Jason Stethem's girlfriend was born. May the great expert on Google stars help you!”

Examples of tasks for a quest of this type can be encrypted as your heart desires, and use any wording that comes to your mind. Since this task involves the help of an Internet search engine, you can ask questions of any complexity. Including it is not forbidden to mention stars in whose biographies your friend-player is not too strong. But to make it even more interesting for him to look for answers, you can guess information about his idols.

Hollywood Help!

Tasks for the quest in the office and on the street can be organized in the style of any films and series of a group of people for whom the game is held. There are a myriad of options for riddles.

For example, you can use the theme of "Men in Black" in a very interesting way, starting the competition with such a note: "Greetings, earthling! We, Agent K and Agent J, need your help. We've fixed it coming but haven't yet established the planet it's sent from. This may be a warning to people about alien invasion to Earth, so you need to act very quickly. The message is encoded. The best of our agents are struggling to decipher it, but they can't do it without you. We have individual parts of the message, but without help, we cannot recreate all of its content. Start searching the entire text immediately! You will be agent M and get all the data you need from agent B. Do not forget that the fate of the planet is in your hands! See you!”

Sea of themes

An interesting monster hunt can be organized during a quest in the style of the Supernatural series. For fans of royal intrigues, the ideal option is the Game of Thrones competition. And for the fans Walking Dead» An unforgettable surprise will be a meeting with a zombie apocalypse on the streets of the city.

"Lord of the Rings", "Harry Potter", "Transformers", "Fast and Furious", "Batman" ... This list can be continued indefinitely, because any popular film is just a storehouse of facts that can be used when composing riddles. The same can be said about online entertainment. For example, the Klondike game is perfect for this purpose, quests and tasks for which will make the holiday unforgettable.

Quests are a unique game genre. You can’t run, jump, cling to walls, shoot blindly and do other things that modern gamers love in them. In the quest, you will hardly ever see the inscription "Game Over" or "Mission Failed". In fact, the quest is an interactive book, small world with its own rules and laws. Unfortunately, now this genre, if not dead, is in a state of the deepest coma. And all because of the fact that the heads of corporations, swollen with fat and bathing in dirty console money, decided that such games have not been profitable for a long time and should be forgotten. But despite this, MadFanboy will tell you about the 15 best quests of all time.

ATTENTION! ALL OF THE GAMES LISTED BELOW HAVE AN AMAZING AMOUNT OF SOUL!

15. Machinarium

On the 15th place settled a real quest nugget of recent years. Machinarium is a short story about a small, lonely robot that is thrown into a landfill. The game takes place in the city of machines, where the entire population is robots, including cats, birds and other animals. Machinarium is a standard outrageously point-and-click adventure, but impeccable visual style, ingenious sound design and SOUL do their job.

14. Sam & Max Seasons

It was these games that proved that it is possible to transfer the classic 2D quest to 3D with almost no loss of the charm of the game of the progenitor. All the same vigorous couple of zoo-detectives and all the same delight for the heart of an experienced quester, burned by cigarette butts, under the guise of puzzles. In some places, brief bouts of boredom are possible, but the blues instantly disappear after intracranial injections by gothic emo vampires and giant robots singing hits!

13. Black Mirror

In 2003, an absolutely classic, to the marrow, quest was released, created by a Czech team of four people. This game had a great storyline, a dark atmosphere and, as such projects are supposed to, a total lack of funding. Most recently, the second part of the game was released, but we have not had time to play it yet.

12. Syberia

The story of Kate Walker, a lawyer girl who received a rather ordinary task - to sign an agreement on the sale of the once famous toy factory, was remembered by many. The game can rightfully be called one of the best quests, but, unfortunately, the second part did not achieve such success.

11. Broken Sword 1-2

Edakiy, Indiana Jones from the world of quests. Templars, killer clowns, traveling to different parts of the world and, of course, saving the world. It is worth noting that it was this game that opened the genre to dirty console gamers - this quest series is available on PS1, GBA, Wii.

10 Blade Runner

One of the most amazing games created based on the movie. Non-linear (!), exciting quest with multiple endings. Moreover, the end of the game was not chosen at any particular point (hello Fahrenheit), but was based on the actions that you performed during the entire quest.

9 Leisure Suit Larry

A game about a resilient, balding 40-year-old pervert-virgin who constantly and unsuccessfully (almost) tries to seduce chicks, i.e. game about an ordinary console player. Any questions?

8. Space Quest

Perhaps one of the first quests in my memory (and games in general) of a parodic nature. You were to take on the role of Roger Wilko, an ordinary janitor on spaceship"Arcade" along the way to wash the floors and save the galaxy, of course!

7. The Secret Monkey Island

If any of you have ever dreamed of becoming a pirate - we advise you to play this game, maybe you will understand how much of a gemmorrhoid idea it is.

6. Day of Tentacle

Sequel to Maniac Mansion by Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman with depression tentacles, time travel, Benjamin Franklin and George Washington.

5. Myst

The quest, created naturally on the knee (the sounds of a waterfall, for example, were recorded by sticking a microphone into the toilet) has long been the best-selling game and has become the standard of the genre. Here, much more time was devoted not to combining a shovel and a hat, but to solving complex and interesting puzzles.

4. Sam & Max Hit the Road

The quest, based on the Sam & Max: Freelance Police comics, can undoubtedly be called one of the best quests of all time. The story of a couple of detectives - the melancholic dog Sam and the sociopathic rabbit Max is filled with gags, selective black humor and the most absurd dialogues in the history of the genre.

3. Neverhood

PLASTICINE! SOUL! DESIGN! And there is nothing more to say - just play this quest.

2 Grim Fandango

Do you think that when you die, all problems will end? Oh no, they're just getting started. An absolute classic of the genre.

1.Full Throttle

Best Tim Schafer game. The best quest, released in the heyday of the golden era of quests. As you know, in 2003 a sequel was announced - Full Throttle II: Hell on Wheels, and the game was an action / adventure, but it never saw the light of day. And this is great, because such games should not have sequels and other heresy of games. oh industry.

Play these games. Seriously, they are worth your time. Believe me, in our age of shaders and bumps, it's very nice to sit down and start the game, main character which consists of 15 pixels.

Friends, hello everyone. The Gamebizclub team is on the air, and today we are starting to analyze the next genre of computer games and tell you about the best quests on PC.

What is a quest? This is a puzzle game where you will solve riddles, solve problems and make difficult decisions as you move through storyline. The genre is not as popular as or, but people appreciate it not only for the gameplay and puzzles.

A quest (sometimes also called a walker) is, first of all, an interesting plot with sharp turns that you will “live” with the main character. And this is one of the few genres that can be translated into real life.

We have made a ranking of the top quests that have been released since the beginning of the genre, included new and old games, and made a list according to the degree of interesting plot and the quality of the gameplay. We add that most of the games are translated into Russian. And now - to the rating.

From this article you will learn:

12 Leisure Suit Larry

We decided to give the last place on the list to Leisure Suit Larry - a series of games not for small children.

The main feature of "Handsome Larry" is a constant love subtext. The protagonist named Larry, in the course of his adventures, tries to seduce girls, moving to various locations - hotels, beaches, casinos and resorts.

He is looking for love, but finds only adventure on his head. Each part has different scenery and plot, the number of piquant moments increases, but the point is the same - to choose a girl and "force" yourself to fall in love in different ways.

The game is suitable for adults - you can have fun watching Larry's unsuccessful attempts to seduce another beauty. But the younger generation should be more careful and not take on faith the events and actions of the protagonist.

Yes, he has charisma and pressure in an effort to seduce. But sometimes he acts stupidly and childishly, not caring about the consequences.

The last part of Leisure Suit Larry: Land of the Lounge Lizards was released in 2013. Look for a publication in Russian, otherwise you will be tormented with dialogues and correct answers.

11. Back to the Future: The Game

In eleventh place is Back to the Future: The Game is the sequel to Back to the Future by Telltale Games. The game is available on PC, IOS, PlayStation and Xbox - in other words, on almost all platforms. Plus, there is a Russian language, although those who have watched the movie about Doc and Marty at least once will complete the game without it.

The game turned out to be dynamic and exciting. Together with the heroes, you have to solve tasks of varying complexity - look for Doc's notebook, rescue Arthur McFly, correct Doc's mistakes in the distant past, fight the Tannen crime family, and much more. You are waiting for simple puzzles and an interesting plot that goes beyond the events of the film.

The script for the game was written by the creator of the original trilogy, Bob Gale, so Back to the Future: The Game can be considered a kind of continuation of the film Back to the Future. The game was released in 2010 directly on the PC and in mobile version on iPhone and iPad, and is now available on everything except Android.

10. The Neverhood

We give the tenth place to Neverhood, a masterpiece about the plasticine world, released by Earthworm Jim in 1996. In Russian, its name was distorted as best they could - there were variants of "Nebylshchina", "Nevervkhudo" and others.

According to the plot, the main character in the form of a plasticine worm goes to explore the same plasticine world. He must collect twenty cassettes, put them together into a movie and see what happens in the game.

The main features of The Neverhood are a cool storyline and an unusual plasticine world. The basis of the story appeared in 1988, and Steven Spielberg and his DreamWorks studio helped to realize it. When creating the game, they used more than three tons of plasticine, reviving the characters and creating unusual conditions without clichés and stereotypes. Tenth place - for a creative and non-standard approach, close to art.

9. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

In ninth place The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is a detective quest in the best traditions of the famous detective from Baker Street. This series of games based on the works of Arthur Conan Doyle has been released since 2002. Each part is a separate story about the life and history of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.

The main advantage of the series is the atmosphere. You will enter the role of a famous detective, investigate crimes, solve non-standard tasks, communicate with suspects and use the deductive method where possible. And all this in the entourage of London in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

For all the time since 2002, eight parts of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes have been released. Some parts have been re-released to meet modern PC requirements. The last part under the title came out in 2016.

8 Valiant Hearts: The Great War

In eighth place is Valiant Hearts: The Great War - an interesting quest about the First World War, made in 2.5D format.

The plot tells about four people who found themselves at the front. Moreover, the war is only the background against which the main events in the life of the Frenchman Emil, his son-in-law Karl (German), the nurse Anna (Belgian) and the American Freddie take place.

This company will have to endure many trials - they are literally thrown from one delicate situation to another. Unlike other similar stories, there are no bad and good characters. Anna assists in the treatment of both the French and the Germans. Emil and Carl work side by side and successfully eliminate formidable opponents.

The game tells about the war so simply and casually that you don’t feel the tragedy at all. Game process standard but fun. Most of the tasks are typical for quests: find, twist and solve the problem.

Difficulties with the performance of tasks should not arise - everything can be solved. In which case, a small dog will come to the rescue, which equally faithfully serves all team members, brings various items, distracts enemies and crawls through where the heroes are not able to crawl through.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War is an interesting walker about war and the fate of people surviving in difficult times. The game was released in 2014 in Russian and is available on all platforms.

7. Samorost 3

Seventh place goes to Samorost 3 - a quest about the exciting adventures of a brave dwarf, dragons and knights. The game was released in 2015, five years after development began.

According to the story, the main character in the form of a gnome finds a strange flute near his house. Using a flute, he goes on a journey through space, goes from planet to planet, communicates with local residents and helps them solve problems. As a result, he ends up in the monastery of the monks who created the flute, revives the mechanical knight and helps defeat the dragon.

The main feature of Samorost 3 is unusual tasks that go far beyond the boundaries of ordinary logic. You will have to stick a key into the belly of an insect, squeeze bubbles on turtle shells, lead the chorus of crocodiles and much more. We add that there are almost no dialogues in the game, and the main thoughts of the protagonist appear in the form of pop-up clouds.

The developers were able to create an amazing and beautiful world, from which it is impossible to break away. Samorost 3 is worth playing for the sake of an extraordinary plot, beautiful implementation and unobtrusive humor.

6. Machinarium

In sixth place, we put Machinarium, a fantastic robo-quest in the style of point-and-click, released in 2009. Immediately after the release, the Machinarium gained a large number of fans from different countries due to the simple operation, beautiful graphics and non-linear plot. This is one of the few adventure games on PC that captivates at first sight.

The protagonist of Machinarium is Yosef, a cleaning robot, who must save the city of Machinarium from the Gang of Black Hats and free his beloved girl from captivity. The only logical inconsistency awaits at the beginning of the game - due to the lack of an introductory video, it is not clear why the main character ended up in a landfill and where he got a girlfriend from.

The virtual adventure of the mechanical cleaner is really exciting, thanks to the fact that the game contains cool puzzles that are not so easy to solve. The peculiar style of the game deserves special attention.

Robotic characters do not utter a word - all the emotions of the characters are expressed appearance, and desires and memories are shown in a small cloud next to Josef.

But the most outstanding thing about Machinarium is the atmosphere and beauty. The developers came up with and drew an amazing world in which robots, not devoid of human qualities, live under the yoke of strict and soulless mechanisms.

5. L.A. noire

Fifth place goes to L.A. Noire is a detective simulator at the intersection of action and adventure genres, released in 2011 on PC. The detective quest is made in the style of GTA, and this is not surprising, because it was developed by the same company - Rockstar Games.

The action takes place in a gloomy post-war Los Angeles. You will find yourself in the role of police detective Cole Phelps, you will solve crimes, look for evidence, expose criminals.

There are two types of missions in the game - story missions, during which you will find yourself in the center of events, as well as secondary missions, the passage of which gives additional experience. Secondary tasks can be received by radio - you will be called to the scene of a "fresh" crime and asked to catch the criminal in hot pursuit.

During the investigation, you will interrogate people. Inferences about what a particular person said can be drawn from the facial expressions and gestures of the suspects. This will help MotionScan technology, making faces truly realistic.

Each successful interrogation brings new experience points that increase the level of the protagonist. These points can be exchanged for various improvements: increase hp, buy clothes with a bonus to protection, pump intuition. The last point is especially important - intuition directly affects the investigation process, simplifies interrogation and allows you to recognize lies and deceit.

L.A Noire is a complete police investigation simulation. From the quest here is the search for clues and answers to questions, and everything else is pure action, very reminiscent of GTA. A good combination, thanks to which the game is in fifth place. Move on.

4. The Walking Dead: The Game

Fourth place goes to The Walking Dead: The Game is one of the best zombie apocalypse quests of all time, released between 2011 and 2013. It ranked third in our zombie game rankings, and will stay at the top until something much better comes along .

The Walking Dead: The Game evokes strong feelings and emotions - all thanks to a well-crafted script. Here you will not get any pleasure from the destruction of the walking dead, but will focus on relationships with people you meet during the story.

The main character, a black guy named Lee, is one of the few survivors of the tragedy. Fleeing from the zombies, he enters the house and meets a little girl named Clementine. Her parents are somewhere far away, so he decides to help the child survive and escape - together they will go through many trials, meet friends and enemies, survive and look for relatives.

The Walking Dead: The Game is a game, a movie, and a powerful story that touches the heart. Some moments make the heart tremble, the endings of the third and fourth parts will give an emotional charge more abruptly than any film.

And a little cartoonish graphics does not spoil the game in any way, but on the contrary, it makes it better and more interesting. And instead of a thousand words, let's say - install, go through and take your time. It'll be cool!

3.Syberia 3

Bronze goes to Syberia 3, an adventure quest released in 2017 in the steampunk genre. Translated into Russian, the name translates as Siberia, which is not entirely correct - the game takes place not in the snowy Russian region, but on an island called Siberia.

You will find yourself in the role of a lawyer girl named Kate Walker, who goes to Siberia - a world filled with mammoths, unusual people and mysteries of varying complexity. In the process of passing you will change the life of the Yukol people, communicate with many characters, enjoy breathtaking views and solve exciting puzzles.

The plot of the game is a separate story, so it is not necessary to know the history of the two previous parts and go through them again. The main events take place in Chernobyl, but again in a different one.

Therefore, do not draw any parallels - Syberia 3 has almost nothing to do with Russia. Although there are some hints - on the street you can meet rusty Zhiguli, strange people in funny clothes walk the streets, and the like. In general, accidents are not accidental, then think for yourself. We add that the Russian voice acting turned out to be much better than the English one, so look for the Russian version.

Syberia 3 turned out to be controversial - on the one hand, it's the good old Benoit Sokal's Siberia with an exciting story, modern graphics and complex puzzles. On the other hand, it is difficult to manage Kate due to the “sharpness” for consoles, the inability to save manually and skip dialogues.

But still, Syberia 3 is a whole world, strange and bewitching, filled with mysteries and colorful characters. It's worth your time, trust me.

2. Grim Fandango Remastered

Silver goes to Grim Fandango Remastered, a re-released quest about an agent from the afterlife, released in 2015. The first version of the game was released by LucasArts back in 1998 - then Grim Fandango caused a sensation in the world of computer games.

And Remastered managed to surpass the original due to modern graphics, high-quality voice acting, and most importantly, the preserved atmosphere of the original game - all because both versions were made under the direction of Tim Schafer.

You will find yourself in the role of the main character named Manny Calavera, exiled by a travel agent to the Department of Death for sins. He sells vouchers to newly arrived souls on a journey through the afterlife - if a person sinned little during his lifetime, then he can travel by comfortable train or private car, and if he was a sinner, he will go on foot.

Manny must sell trips to several righteous people in order to be freed from this job and leave the afterlife.

According to the story, Manny meets the righteous Meche, who for some reason did not get a train ticket and went on a hiking trip through the afterlife. He decides to correct the injustice and help the girl reach her goal. On the journey, they will find many adventures, events, interesting meetings, secrets and mysteries.

Grim Fandango Remastered is an unusual and somewhat incredible world in which you can hang out for a long time. The adventures of Manny and Meche are captivating, puzzles make you move your brain, and the characters look like real people.

And there is one more bonus - at the end there is a video showing the process of creating the game. Install Grim Fandango and go on an adventure.

1.Full Throttle Remastered

Full Throttle was released in 1995 for PC. The game takes place in the near future, where cars move above the ground with the help of a special air cushion.

The protagonist is a desperate biker named Ben, who is investigating the murder of the owner of the last factory that produces vehicles on wheels.

According to the plot, Ben must prevent the main villain, Ripburger, from closing the shop that produces motorcycles, return his gang and defeat everyone. And all this to the accompaniment of the rock band The Gone Jackals, with jokes, humor and fights.

All rock songs sound like you were at a real concert. And the voice acting was done anew, the role of Ripburger was played by Mark Hamill from Star Wars.

Full Throttle is an epic biker game with a lot of humor, funny stories, fights, friendship and enmity. The main character is sympathetic, despite the stupid actions. He kicks down the door and says that it was so, beats up enemies on the road with a board and a chain, acts like a hooligan, sleeps next to a garbage can and behaves like a crazy biker.

And the whole game is like this - crazy and crazy, but interesting and memorable. must have for all fans of computer games.

Summing up

In the past few years, developers have begun to re-release old games. For example, as Tim Schafer, the ideologist of Full Throttle and Grim Fandango, admitted, in his view, it is the reissued versions that are close to the original idea.

Technology has come so far in more than 20 years that you can film popular adventures or release a sequel, as happened with many of the games included in our top. And it's great - old and almost forgotten masterpieces got a second life and a chance to continue the story, and people can remember and plunge into amazing worlds and participate in cool stories embodied in games.

Hi all! I collected here the best selection quests on PC for all time. If you want to suggest a game, write in the comments the name of the game and an explanation of why you think it is the best.

The game has many branches with various events, and the places where the player needs to make a certain choice will be marked as “Choice”.

In general, the developers managed to convey the atmosphere of the post-apocalyptic future very well, and the presence of multiple endings, as well as the possibility of such a deep influence on the development of the storyline, makes the game really interesting and original (especially considering its release date).

Nancy Drew series

Release date: 1998-2015

A series of popular quests telling about a detective girl named Nancy Drew (based on a series of books by writer Caroline Keene). The gameplay in games is traditional for the genre - in most cases we control the main character and travel around the world, interrogating witnesses and suspects, as well as collecting evidence and solving puzzles of varying complexity along the way.

It should be noted that this series of this moment 32 game, does not belong to the hardcore representatives of the genre and is aimed mainly at teenagers and a female audience, but it is definitely worth getting acquainted with it, especially since some parts have a really interesting and exciting plot.

So, for example, the game does not use the mouse, and the interaction of the character with the objects of the game world occurs when the character is in close proximity to them.

The game received a lot of positive reviews and also won many prestigious awards. On January 27, 2015, a re-release of the project was released, called Grim Fandango Remastered. A series of hand-drawn point-and-click quests telling about the adventures of Vasily Ivanovich Chapaev and his orderly Petka. Each game in the franchise has its own plot, unrelated to other parts of the series. The gameplay is traditional for the genre - we wander around the locations, collect items and try to use them in various places. In some parts there are simple mini-games.

All games about Petka and Vasily Ivanovich are filled with sparkling humor and parodies of anything and everything. Most of the characters from earlier parts return in later games in new ways, while they traditionally do not remember who they were in previous games. It is noteworthy that in 2016 the first two parts of "Petka" were re-released with completed graphics and re-voicing of some lines.

Siberia 1-3

Release date: 2002-2017

Genre: Quest

A trilogy in the adventure quest genre, featuring a good graphic component and an incredibly interesting plot. All three parts are classic representatives of the point-and-click genre, so the gameplay here is appropriate - we move around the locations, look for active points on the screen and interact with them. The heroine has an inventory that stores items and documents found during the game, which often contain hints for solving puzzles.

The trilogy is deservedly considered one of the best representatives of the quest genre. You should definitely play it at least in order to enjoy the fascinating story, and in general, if you decide to get acquainted with the genre, then it is best to start your acquaintance with Siberia. On our site there is, which I wrote with pleasure myself.

Sherlock Holmes game series

Release date: 2002-2016

Genre: Quest detective

A series of games about the famous London detective, made in the quest genre. The plots of each part are based on the works of the same name, however, they lead their own history, somewhat different from the book source. At the moment, 8 games of the main series have been released, in which the main characters are the detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend and assistant Dr. Watson.

The gameplay is made in the style of a "classic" quest, i. we move around locations, communicate with characters, look for clues and various objects, sometimes combine them and solve puzzles of varying complexity. Often the player has to use various detective devices, such as a magnifying glass, etc. Depending on the part, we can play from the first or third person (sometimes it is possible to switch the view).

Samorost 1-3

Release date: 2003-2016

Genre: Quest, adventure

A fascinating trilogy made in the puzzle-quest genre, the main feature of which is an original and unique graphic style (which is not surprising, because the game developer is a Czech designer with his own original vision of the world around him). In all parts we play as a little Gnome, and control is carried out by clicking on the screen. Most riddles are solved by trial and error. Also, our hero can sometimes help other characters, who in turn can help him in passing a certain place.

The project was warmly received by players and critics, who praised the original graphics of the games. In addition, each part of the series received prestigious awards and prizes, mainly for the best design and innovative gameplay.

still life

Release date: 2005

Genre: Quest

The main character of the game is an FBI agent named Victoria McPherson, investigating a series of brutal murders in modern Chicago. The girl finds the diary of her grandfather - Gustav, who was a detective in Prague in the 20s and investigated such murders.

The control of the characters, between which we will periodically switch, comes from a third person. Players will need to search and match clues, pick locks, solve various kinds of tasks, etc. It is worth noting that the project received an 18+ rating for a reason, but this is due to the fact that during the investigation the player will observe incredibly bloody and brutal murder scenes.

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

Release date: 2006

Genre: Quest

A 3D third-person quest with action-adventures and stealth elements, voted the best adventure game of 2006 by many gaming magazines. The gameplay combines puzzle-solving with combat, and in some episodes, players will even need to sneak around unnoticed by enemies or hack electronic devices. In this case, the character may even die, because of which the player will have to start with a save. We have three characters and you can switch between them depending on the plot.

A nice feature of the game is the ability to solve certain problems in various ways (for example, use brute force, complete the task stealthily, or use the art of persuasion). The uniqueness of the gameplay is not so much in puzzles, but in managing the interaction of characters in their journey through the world.

Aquaria

Release date: 2007

Incredibly atmospheric and stylish graphical point-and-click quest. The action takes place in the world of robots. The most noticeable difference from other games of this genre is that our hero (a small robot) can not interact with any objects on the screen, but only with those that he can reach. In this case, the protagonist's body can stretch a little or, on the contrary, shrink.

Otherwise, the gameplay is traditional - we wander around the locations and interact with everything we can, completing puzzles along the way. There are no dialogues; instead, the characters have animated "clouds of thoughts". The game received many prestigious awards, including the best indie game of 2009.

Limbo

Release date: 2010

Stylish graphic indie platformer with elements from puzzle, adventure and survival horror genres. We control here a boy who must go through a series of trials, riddles and traps, and save his sister from limbo. The gameplay can be described as "trial and error", since one wrong action and the character instantly dies. And believe me, you will die often, very often, and in a variety of ways.

The project is made in a stylish black and white graphic design. This gives the game an atmosphere. The controls are simple, and the puzzles are not too difficult. At least, there are no impassable places in the game, therefore, as soon as you figure out the algorithm of actions on a particular section of the path, it will immediately become quite simple to pass.

The Next Big Thing

Release date: 2011

Genre: Quest

A graphic point-and-click quest with a flexible hint system, the main focus of which is on exploring locations and finding items (they can be inspected in the inventory). The plot in the game is built around two reporters who arrived at an event called "Monster's Ball" to film a report there. It is noteworthy that some puzzles in the game can only be solved after talking with a certain character, which means that sometimes it is better to skip an unsolvable puzzle and try to go a little further.

The project received mainly positive reviews, and the Games-TV portal even gave it a "worth buying" rating, noting that there is a lot of excellent humor, as well as "awesome" characters. And indeed, the humor of the game is truly sparkling. The project is worth going through at least once to enjoy great jokes and a good plot.

L. A. Noire

Release date: 2011

An action-adventure detective simulator that puts players in 1947 Los Angeles as police detective Cole Phelps. Our hero will have to solve several high-profile crimes, for which it will be necessary to inspect places in search of evidence and clues. At the same time, how fully the picture of the incident will be revealed will directly depend on the successful actions of the player.

The game is made atmospheric and very high quality. Pleased with the presence side missions, which the character can receive from the police radio. You can move around the game world both on foot and by transport, which opens as we advance in our service. It is possible to change the character's costume (some outfits of the main character give him certain bonuses).

Deponia

Release date: 2012

Genre: Quest adventure

Adventure graphic quest in the point-and-click genre, which tells about the adventures of the unsuccessful inventor Rufus. The gameplay competently follows all the canons of the genre - we move around locations, collect items, communicate with characters and solve puzzles. There is an inventory with two options for using items.

The project is notable for its unique drawing style, eccentric characters, unusual humor and exciting puzzles. It is impossible not to note the high-quality plot, which, although it seems a little banal, throws unexpected twists on the players. In general, after passing this game, I immediately want to watch the following parts in order to find out "what will happen next."

Dear Esther

Release date: 2012

Genre: Quest, art house

Experimental game project, made in the first-person quest genre (although it would be more correct to call this game interactive book). According to the plot, we find ourselves on a small desert island, while the off-screen voice reads to us fragments of a letter addressed to a certain Esther. The goal is extremely simple - to get to the lighthouse tower with a flashing light. Moving around the locations, we hear parts of the story in which the key characters appear. As the island explores, the player finds abandoned buildings, caves, and even the remains of sunken ships.

Who you are? What are you doing on this strange island? What or who are you looking for? All you have is your legs carrying you through this incredibly atmospheric and incomprehensibly exciting game. The project is simply a must-read, as it is probably the most skillful and memorable game of our generation. On our website, the game is included in .

Botanicula

Release date: 2012

Genre: Quest

Traditionally for a developer, there are no spoken or written dialogues in the game, but interaction with the characters is present. The project is distinguished by a very original graphic style, interesting puzzles and an excellent soundtrack, which was awarded the prestigious Excellence in Audio Award at IGF'12.

Broken Age

Release date: 2014

Genre: Quest

An exciting adventure quest in which the player controls two characters at once (you can switch between them at any time). At first glance, the boy Shay and the girl Vella are not connected in any way, but the events that permeate the plot look the same and a very interesting picture of what is happening gradually builds up in front of the player.

During the game, we, controlling alternately one or the other character, explore the world and interact with various elements of locations. In addition, characters can collect various items to use later in the story. In the dialogues there is a system for choosing the answer option. The project is divided into two parts.

Murdered: Soul Suspect

Release date: 2014

Genre: Action-adventure, survival horror, quest,

A noir action-adventure thriller in which the main character (cop-detective Ronan) manages to die before the gameplay even starts. However, death does not stop the brave policeman, and now, in the form of a ghost, he continues to find his killer, especially since otherwise he will not be able to reunite with his wife, who tragically died a little earlier. The second hero is the girl Joy, pursued by the same maniac who killed our policeman.

The most interesting thing in the game is the investigations in which we need to collect evidence. The abilities of the detective help us a lot in this - he can move into people, exert a mental influence on them, study papers in their hands, etc. The project turned out to be incredibly stylish and interesting - the story is presented well, and the characters want to experience.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War

Release date: 2014

Genre: Quest adventure, puzzle,

A graphic quest-puzzle with elements of a platformer and several playable characters, telling about the events that took place in the First world war. In essence, this is an interactive story about four different people (and one dog) who ended up at the front, and who will now have to achieve their goals shoulder to shoulder.

The gameplay is based on movement in a 2.5D perspective, where characters roam the locations, search for items, communicate with NPCs and solve various puzzles. The game received mostly positive reviews. Many critics noted that the developers managed to tell the players about complex things in a simple and accessible way.

Dreamfall Chapters

Release date: 2014

Genre: Quest

Atmospheric quest, which is a direct continuation of the game Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, and is divided into five episodes. The game takes place in spirit worlds, with most locations open to exploration, regardless of the main plot. Characters are controlled from a third-person perspective, while objects with which you can interact will be highlighted when you hover over them with the cursor. The emphasis in the gameplay is on exploring the world and solving puzzles. Also, a considerable part of the game time is devoted to dialogues between characters.

Despite the fact that the ending in the episodes is always the same, the player will often have to make important decisions, the consequences of which will affect the plot. The project turned out to be quite a strong quest and a worthy continuation last game. Fans of the genre must check it out!

Fran Bow

Release date: 2015

Genre: Quest, Survival horror

A graphic point-and-click quest with elements of horror that tells the story of a teenage girl, Fran Bow, who, by the will of fate, ended up in a nursery psychiatric hospital. Our heroine can move around locations, communicate with characters and solve simple puzzles. Also, as you progress through, simple mini-games will come across. One of the features of the game is the presence of several realities, the transition between which is sometimes played out in a very original way. Some riddles are built on this game “chip”.

The game turned out to be very atmospheric and exciting. Many critics and players praised the plot, gaming sites gave the project 8 points, noting that this adventure game is classic game genre, though without deep meanings, but with a strong plot and graphic component.

Armikrog

Release date: 2015

Genre: Quest

An original graphical quest made of plasticine (the ideological successor of the Neverhood game). The project is made in the point-and-click genre, so the gameplay will be traditional for similar games. In particular, we will move around the locations and solve various puzzles. Riddles will gradually become more difficult, but the really difficult places in the game can be counted on the fingers.

The project turned out to be very original, despite the obvious attempt to play on nostalgia (which sometimes the developers really succeed). The passage will not take you much time, so the game will not have time to get bored. The plot is simple, but able to tighten. At the very least, the desire to find out how it all ends keeps you watching until the very end.

Inside

Release date: 2016

Genre: Quest, puzzle, platformer

An indie puzzle platformer that is ideological heir Limbo, from which the game inherited similar gameplay and visuals. We move mainly to the right side of the screen (with the exception of places where we need to overcome various obstacles to move in the other direction or even up), we meet various challenges and solve physical puzzles (usually related to manipulating objects). There is no interface as such, and it is not needed here.

The player's task is to try to overcome the trials without the death of the hero, who has the most ordinary human vulnerabilities. Getting in the way of the enemy, the only right decision is to avoid a direct collision with him. If the character died (and you will die often), then you will have to start from the nearest checkpoint.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered

Release date: 2016

Genre: point-and-click

A remaster of one of the most famous classic quests with tons of humor, the action of which develops in three time periods: in the past, present and future. At the same time, by influencing the past, we will change the present, and so on. The gameplay is traditional for the point-and-click genre - we wander around the locations, find objects, apply them and move on, communicating with the characters along the way. The puzzles in the game are moderately complex, but quite logically solvable.

The remake contains updated graphics (it is possible to switch to the old graphical version), developer comments and a number of small gameplay improvements.

Full Throttle Remastered

Release date: 2017

Genre: Quest

A high-quality re-release of the 1995 game of the same name, the implementation of which was carried out by the same developers as the original. The game is a classic hand-drawn point-and-click quest, in which models, backgrounds, sound design have been significantly improved, and new control options have been added. Traditionally for the genre, players here need to carefully study the world around them and solve puzzles of varying complexity (some are able to make the convolutions strain great).

remaster, like original game at the time, received positive reviews. Many noted the corporate humor, which has not gone away (especially since the plot copies the original 100%), as well as the qualitatively redesigned graphics. It is worth noting that the game has the ability to switch to the original graphics and sound of the 1995 sample (just press F1 on the keyboard).

Varenje: Chapter 1

Release date: 2018

Genre: point-and-click

A colorful quest with a pleasant drawing, in which we find ourselves in the fictional world of a crazy gamer. The gameplay is expected for the point-and-click genre - we are slowly exploring locations, looking for items and periodically solving puzzles along the way.

Separately, it is worth noting the work of the artist - the art in the game is simply magnificent with attention to detail. Finding quest items on them is a pleasure. The advantages of the game include stylish graphics, a pleasant soundtrack, and a variety of puzzles. The first chapter is distributed free of charge, but the full version will have to be purchased.

Genre: Third person quest

A detective quest with a classic third-person perspective and elements of mysticism in which we have to investigate various paranormal crimes. The gameplay here is no different from other similar games - we explore locations in search of clues, communicate with suspects and solve puzzles. The main emphasis here is on the dialogues. The original move is that we will communicate with both living people and all kinds of ghosts.

Another atypical solution for quests is the presence of assistants for the protagonist. And on a mission, we can take two at once. Assistants have some useful skills, and in general help in solving problems that can often be solved in several ways. Between missions, we are at the headquarters, where we can chat with other characters and learn more about their interests.
