Games like The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. Games that are similar to the witcher. The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim - Dragonborn ready for battle

Find games like The Witcher 3, not easy. None of them even come close to the third part of the Geralt franchise (with the exception of Skyrim). The Witcher 3 is an amazing game in every way. After a few hours of gameplay, I realized how huge this medieval world is. Even me seasoned player, Witcher 3 amazed by the variety of quests and new territories.

The last part of the saga of the white-haired monster slayer can be talked about endlessly. But today I would like to talk about games similar to The Witcher 3. Although finding developments that can offer something close to the rich world of the third part of the Geralt series is not an easy task, nevertheless, such masterpieces exist. I present to you 10 best games similar to The Witcher 3.

1. The Elder Scrolls Skyrim

This is the last part of the legendary series The Elder Scroll s, which for many years determined the direction of the development of the RPG industry. Even the guys from CD Project Red who created The Witcher 3 acknowledge the influence Skyrim.

the last part The Elder Scrolls is not the kind of RPG that you want to go through quickly. Bethesda spent 5 years creating Skyrim, putting everything the company had to offer into the game. There are plenty of places to explore, caves to clear, and abilities to level up. For a gamer, all this can take hundreds of hours.

After the recent release of Witcher 3, a lot of people started comparing both games, but this is absurd. Do not forget that Skyrim was released 6 years ago. In fact, the last part of The Elder Scrolls- game of the previous generation. Although it is not perfect, it is still a masterpiece that deserves attention. Skyrim world full of surprises that make the gameplay interesting and unforgettable.

2-3. The Witcher Series

The rest of the games in the Geralt franchise are just as exciting as the third installment. If you have a PC, you can play Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 if you haven't already. Both games allow us to better understand the protagonist of the series Geralt of Rivia and his actions. Although not required, I recommend that you try the first two installments of the franchise.

The Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 do not have the open world of the last Witcher, but they also have an amazing story and the ability to influence the course of events with your actions, which brings them closer to the third game in the franchise.

4Dragon Age: Inquisition

85 hours - roughly how long you should be playing dragon age: Inquisition, to see end credits. I don't even count the countless side quests. Of course, there are RPGs with a larger world. But only in Inquisition it turned out to be so saturated. In which direction do not go - everywhere you will find a quest.

Of course, Inquision is not a pure sandbox game. Here there is a semi-open world with a map divided into different areas, which gradually become available to the player. Also, it is impossible not to note the interesting plot and thoughtful dialogues that make the quests more interesting. Even after 85 hours of passage, many places remained unvisited by me.

If you're looking for a Witcher 3-like game, be sure to check out Dragon Age: Inquisition. You will not regret.

5. Gothic 2

Gothic 2- the most old game in the list. This is an action RPG whose foundation was laid by the first part of the series. Perhaps some will be disappointed by outdated graphics. But, in fact, this is one of the deepest games. Although the world size of Gothic 2 is far from The Witcher 3, as far as the stars, but the choices and decisions that have to be made bring it closer to the last part of the Geralt series. Gothic 2 is one of the few games where your actions always have consequences. Even after many years, Gothic 2 is still one of the best action RPGs to date.

6. The Elder Scroll Oblivion

After its release in 2006 The Elder Scroll Oblivion is still considered one of the best action RPGs. It was an amazing achievement - a complex open world with many details. What else does an RPG fan need? Oblivion made famous The series Elder Scrolls, smoothing over the shortcomings of the previous part. Although Morrowind was an amazing action RPG, only die-hard fans of the franchise were able to appreciate it. As for Oblivion, even if you are not a fan of role-playing games, it is very difficult not to fall in love with this beautiful and colorful world.

The main quest takes approximately 50 hours to complete, but there are also side quests that will take you twice as long to complete. You can join different guilds and factions, exterminate robbers in caves, communicate with different people. All of this makes Oblivion one of the best Witcher 3-like games out there.

7-8. Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas

Actions of all games in the series Fallout take place in a post-apocalyptic world that survived a nuclear war. The United States and China launched nuclear strikes on each other in 2077, leaving vast radioactive wastelands with ghouls, super mutants, and miraculously surviving humans. Most games in the series main character- the inhabitant of the shelter, who for the first time after many years went outside. You begin to explore the vast wastelands to see what is left of the world.

The first three parts, released in the 90s. The 20th century was two-dimensional. Then Bethesda bought the franchise license and started making 3D games. The first part, developed by an American company, was Fallout 3, released in 2008. next game Fallout: New Vegas , which was released in 2010, was already made by another studio, Obsidian Studio.

You can play any part of the series. But if you want games similar to The Witcher 3, then you should pay attention to Fallout 3 and New Vegas. It seems that both franchises are too different. The Witcher 3 takes place in the Middle Ages, while the Fallout series takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. However, they do have common features.

In both franchises, the focus is on the player's ability to be whoever they want to be. You often have to make decisions that affect the plot. That is why both games ended up on our list.

9 Kingdom Comes: Deliverance

Just take a look at the game trailer! Isn't it amazing? It is an RPG still in development and is expected to be released in 2018. The game will take place, apparently, in the medieval world. 10 Cyberpunk 2077

There is no doubt that Cyberpunk 2077 will borrow some features of The Witcher 3, because the game is being developed by the same studio - CD Projekt Red. The details are unknown, but, apparently, it will be a "sandbox" with a branching plot, which will depend on our actions. The sad thing is that the Polish developer is not yet talking about the future game. We can only hope that CD Projekt Red will not let you down and Cyberpunk 2077 will be better than Witcher 3.

After ten years of waiting and buying the rights to the continuation of the series by Bethesda, the Giga solid world became available for study, an isometric view with turn-based combat went to the trash of history. Now Fallout is available to everyone, it is easy to master and understand, get used to the new rules and immerse yourself in the forgotten atmosphere of devastation and decline after nuclear war. And this is by no means a bad thing. The graphic part let us down a little, the textures are not impressive, and the clumsy animation is puzzling.

Bethesda games are always special, with dozens of flaws in each of them, some of which are repeated from project to project, but it doesn't matter, because these are worlds that are nice to get stuck in for hundreds of hours. That's why it was hard not to wait for Fallout 4. Maybe he did not live up to all expectations, but he does not want to return from this post-apocalyptic world. For the first time since Morrowind, the story is inscribed in an open world, rather than dangling apart from it.

Let's start from the beginning, or rather, from the promises of the developers that have been brought to life. We came up with an interesting combat system with pressing, in fact, one button. Cities change depending on your past actions. A plot with intrigue, directing, phenomenal and unpredictable moments. A plot with intrigue, directing, phenomenal and unpredictable moments.

We start with a rather old, but not completely dead game from 2008. Many gamers, especially young ones, have either not heard anything about it at all, or have heard, but little. Someone even tried to play the latest, third part. And in vain. The third is complete trash: a mockery of the series. You need to play in the first or second, which, in my opinion, turned out best. How is this game similar to the third Witcher?

Firstly, there is a relatively large, really open world: a kind of mixture of some kind of gingerbread fairy tale, steampunk, Victorian England and classic dark fantasy. Secondly, there is a really cool plot with intrigues, unexpected twists, a bunch of characters and a wealth of choice.

It could have been made into a movie that way. In the rest: good, albeit rustic fights, tolerable, albeit rather outdated graphics, and a boy character in whose body an adult hero lives.

Gothic 3

To be honest, the second part, as for me, is much better. But! The fact is that she is already really middle-aged: 2002. Therefore, as a sample, the third part will be offered, which is much younger, larger, more beautiful, although slightly departed from the canons.

Here you have an open world, and the plot and pumping, and the extraction of equipment and even more or less acceptable battles, although, in fact, if you are not enthusiastic about the combat mechanics of the second Witcher, then the battles in Gothic will seem clumsy to you. However, the game has a soul and a unique style (especially the second part).

The hero approaches the shores of the mainland, which consists of three impressive parts, where his adventures begin. All this stuffed with fifty magic spells, the same number of types of enemies, hundreds of weapons and three options for passing, which depend on the choice of the player: on who he will join and whom he decides to help.

Risen 3: Titan Lords

This game was made by almost the same team that made Gothic, so the obvious resemblance shouldn't surprise you. This story also begins with a foreign coast, on which the main character, an experienced pirate, finds himself. Here you can find a pretty good and understandable combat system, an abundance of relatively non-linear dialogues, and, of course, an open world, with one serious drawback: the areas are open only in theory.

Technically, they are blocked either by some kind of gates, or by especially strong enemies, which are almost impossible to defeat without pumping properly. The rest of the game has a strong bias in the pirate theme. Moreover, this is one of the most pirated video games in general, which have only come out in the entire history of the gaming industry.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

There hasn't been a single game since The Witcher 3 that fans of the Witcher universe haven't had so many hopes for. Well, still: the game is also made in Eastern Europe - in the Czech Republic. It promised to be unique combat system, as well as the right atmosphere of medieval Europe, torn apart by feudal wars.

Only this time, no Nilfgaard or Temeria with magic, archgryphons and witchers on parcels. Everything is as realistic as possible. Unfortunately, the project did not justify, but it is also impossible to say that it turned out completely out of the ordinary.

The protagonist - a simple son of a blacksmith - is mortally offended by one of the feudal lords, whose army killed his family. And so, yesterday's village hooligan is forced to flee from his native home to a neighboring castle in order to stand under the banner of the local leader, in order to eventually bring the right person to the royal throne. In terms of scale, of course, it’s never The Witcher, but fans of European military history should like the game.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

Is this game similar to The Witcher enough to put it on our hit parade? In my opinion, yes. Of course, she is Japanese, which will already disappoint many. Also, in terms of its atmosphere, it is more similar to Dark Souls than The Witcher, however, it has an open, gloomy fantasy world, there is an extraordinary story with a single player campaign, there is quite a variety of pumping, as well as really different types of enemies that need a different approach. . The fights are quite simple and a little clumsy, but, as already mentioned, they require ingenuity and dexterity. Not Dark Souls, of course, but most enemies just won't be able to call out.

Perhaps, not without reason, it will seem to you that the hero is not so sincere, and compared to the same Geralt, he is simply faceless, but on the other hand, this helps some to better get used to the role, identifying themselves with someone who does not have such charisma as Geralt. If you like the game, be sure to join monster hunter World.

vampire

The first one on our list is not exactly classic fantasy, but it also falls well within the established framework. After all, a dark vampire story in England, Victorian times is also a fairy tale, therefore fantasy. But in fact, the canons are observed: the world is open, the hero is a white man who received his abilities after a mutation, the dialogues are here, non-linearity too, fights with jumps. There are many more similarities than it might seem at first glance.

Moreover, Geralt also had to communicate closely with vampires, and some, like Regis, were even friends with him. The only problem is morality: while Geralt is the unconditional personification of goodness, Jonathan, to put it mildly, is not exactly good. Not good, but not unambiguously evil either, although it can become one if players want blood. In general, a good action game that greatly spoils the lack of Russian dubbing and not the most expressive combat mechanics.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Believe it or not, one of the favorite pastimes of American gamers is comparing The Witcher and the Inquisition, weighing the pros and cons, and figuring out which is better. Usually overseas video game fans don't give a damn about European game girls. Well, and then something happened that cannot be ignored, so they have some kind of complex: how can it be that the best role-playing fantasy with open world they didn't do it. However, we digress.

Inquisition has everything that is in The Witcher, but everything is a little worse: the plot is not as branched, the secondary tasks are not as interesting, the battles are not so hot, the characters are not so bright, the world is not so beautiful and big. But all these “nots” are just a minor convention for someone who wants to plunge into a new many-hour fairy tale about evil sorcerers, arrogant elves, dense forests and dangerous caves in which terrible monsters live. Politics, sex and some kind of morality is also there.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

And another non-canonical fantasy. Some people find it possible to distinguish fantasy from science fiction, although in fact both are fairy tales, just in slightly different atmospheres. Otherwise, everything is very similar, with the only exception that the main character is a girl, and her main enemies are mostly robots of various stripes.

And, yes - one more thing - it's exclusive to PlayStation 4: the only one in our hit parade. around the post-apocalypse.

Humanity has been thrown back into something similar to the Stone Age, only not simple, but on the remnants of a former highly developed civilization, so sometimes some especially savvy savage managed to pick out from a padded robot, some kind of transformer, with which his stone ax on fingertips Batteries began to beat a little more powerfully.

The main character of the whole game and will have to do something similar: hunt and design. Well, the plot of this game is also based on a secret that the heroine will slowly begin to reveal when she opens one unexpected location.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim

Of course, how can we do without the Elder Scrolls. There are different ways to treat this game, explaining that it is more casual compared to Morrowind, that its main plot is actually obscenely linear, and that the combat system here is quite limited. However, the game is actually a cult one, managing to remain extremely relevant even now, many years after the release.

An open, gloomy fantasy world lives its own difficult life. Its inhabitants survive as best they can. Well, then a revolution began, and besides, the dragons awakened, and the main character, against his will, will have to take on the entire responsibility of solving all global challenges in the vastness of Tamriel. An open world, a huge number of quests, a certain non-linearity, complete freedom of action, excellent Russification and quite tolerable graphics, if you put additional mods - that's what this action has in common with The Witcher.

Assassin's Creed Origins

Well, the gold of our hit parade goes to the most ambitious, most beautiful, freshest and most ambitious project of all previously listed. Huge, open world. Political intrigues, sex with beautiful girls and there is mysticism. Fights with epic bosses there is. There is freedom of action. We can swim, there is pumping, even excessive. An analogue of Roach is also available.

The genre to which the Witcher series belongs cannot be called new or original. A lot of interesting chips borrowed from other projects are mixed here. The open world was still at its most The first Elder Scrolls, action scenes of fighting monsters delighted us in the first Gothic, and dozens of different RPG games lured gamers with interesting scenarios.

Games similar to the legendary The Witcher 3 do not have to exactly copy its concept. After all, in this case it would be about banal clones. And clones are always worse than the original, even if they are made at the same quality level. We will talk about other projects in which there are similarities in some gameplay elements. But games like the unique Witcher 3 must have an open world, a well-thought-out plot, and high-quality graphics for their time.

Fallout 4 - a collapsed civilization

War is never good. So in the world of Fallout, where the post-apocalypse no longer seems like a fairy tale from a movie, people are struggling with the consequences of their own mistakes. In one moment, the skies lit up with thousands of fires, which, like meteorites, deafened the Earth with shock waves and destroyed what had been built for millennia. Society has returned almost to the primitive system, where every man is for himself.

But not only humanity has become its own enemy. After the atomic war, exposure to radiation turned many living beings into terrible monsters. Traveling through the wastelands is now as dangerous as before in the jungle with tigers or on rivers with crocodiles.

Let the main character be far from being a "witch" type and not considered a great hero because of magical abilities. But he tries his best to survive in the new world, where the simplest resources are worth their weight in gold, and the wealth of past years is not worth a penny. If you take on the passage of its non-linear history filled with interesting twists, you will have to rake a huge mountain of problems. But it's worth it - as a result, society can become better, and life in it will become at least a little like a peaceful and calm one. It is difficult to get back on your feet again when you have lost the most precious thing, but this is necessary in a harsh and not encouraging world of weakness.

Mass Effect 3 - menace from outer space

Mankind has long begun to study space. Flights between planets and stars have ceased to be something incredible thanks to a special technology - mass repeaters. Traveling through the Milky Way, people have discovered many other civilizations that are not particularly lagging behind in development. Together they created the Galactic Council, whose main headquarters was the space station "Citadel".

Game series mass effect tells us about a character with the surname Shepard, who, depending on the choice of the player, can be male or female. He commands a large ship with a loyal crew ready to do anything to keep the peace in the galaxy.

In the third part, the heroes again need to save the world, now from the dark race of reapers, known throughout the universe for their malicious behavior - these monsters destroy planet after planet, subdue the worlds and use the extracted resources. Now the solar system and our native Earth are on their way. In the shortest possible time, Captain Shepard should (or should) gather allies to fight the invading army. Depending on certain actions of the player, the races will go over to his side. If everything is done correctly, at the end of the game, instead of defenseless earthlings, the reapers will see an innumerable Alliance space fleet in front of them and will be defeated. But everything has its time.

As part of the gameplay, here we are waiting for interesting story with well-developed cut-scenes, pumping characters and their relationships with others, as well as on different planets, where you have to eliminate bloodthirsty enemies one by one. The replay value here is on top, as in the first two parts. Therefore, even after completing the game for the first time, you can safely start it again and go through a different path, getting completely different impressions from gameplay. Graphically, everything is also in order here - you believe what is happening and there is no feeling that the developers were lazy. From the first frames to the final, I want to continue without stopping and empathize with the heroes.

Fable III - Revolution and Aftermath

In the third part of the famous RPG, we learn about the events that take place 50 years after the plot of the second game. The old king, who was the hero of the second part, died, and his son Logan ascended the throne. The new protagonist becomes the younger brother (or sister, depending on the choice) of the king, having the status of heir. Relations between the king and the protagonist are heated, after which the latter escapes and begins to look for allies to start a revolution. The king turns into a tyrant and becomes a huge problem for the kingdom. But everything turns out to be not so simple. The ruler is cruel not of his own free will - he learned about the imminent invasion of the dark army and is trying to gather as many forces as possible to fight it. After - a successful revolution the player will need to decide:
- fulfill the promises made to the allies in the revolution and leave the kingdom weak;
- or turn into the same tyrant and be fully armed by the advent of darkness.

After the release, the game received almost only positive reviews critics, and the gaming community received it with enthusiasm. From the platforms, she first came out on the Xbox 360 and Playstation, and a year later on the PC.

The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim - Dragonborn is ready for battle!

The last part of The Elder Scrolls is similar in style to the third Witcher. Both games are set in an alternate Middle Ages where magic and dark forces interfere with life ordinary people. In Skyrim, you can meet a variety of monsters and guests from the other world. If at first it seems that the villages and cities inhabited by people will be the only thing that will meet on the hero’s path, then further we meet giants, terrible wolves, and in the nearest cave we are attacked by skeletons with bows and magic spells.

And these are flowers, because further down the story we will see dragons for the second time after the introduction - majestic creatures that circle at high altitude and descend only to strike at the enemy. If the rest of the warriors are not able to cope with such flying "tanks", then the main character has several ways in stock. One of them is the famous “Fus Ro Dah!” spell, from which any enemy is thrown back a few meters and takes a huge dose of damage.

But we love Skyrim not for this. It was liked by many gamers and remembered forever thanks to its atmosphere. We take control of a medieval warrior and set off on a journey through a vast world with different characters, adventures, tasks, dangerous situations. This is literally a whole life that you need to live on the screen of your computer.

Oddly enough, the previous parts of the famous series open our list. To be honest, many gamers met Geralt only in The Wild Hunt, skipping the first two games. Despite the fact that The Witcher 3 was a huge breakthrough, they, although devoid of an open world, are good in their own way.

The first "The Witcher", if we leave aside some of its woodenness and venerable age, can still boast of fascinating stories and successful moments in revealing the character of Geralt himself. The second game got a great story, one of the decisions in which divided the game in two, and the combat system, perhaps more complex and stylish than in the third part.

If you didn’t have enough world and characters after mashing The Wild Hunt to holes, The Killer of Kings will be able to please you with new portions of lore and atmosphere.

The second "The Witcher" in many ways served as the basis for the sensational third part, so it deserves attention, if only because of the opportunity to look at the path taken by the developers. In any case, if you liked The Witcher 3 and you didn’t get to know the original and the sequel at the time, then you simply have to do it now.

Assassin's Creed Origins

Origins turned Ubisoft's flagship series into a true RPG, clearly inspired by the Polish The Witcher. While the rest of the Assassin's Creed games have nothing to do with the Wild Hunt, Origins fits our list perfectly.

The action of "Origins" takes place in Ancient Egypt, and the main character is Bayek, a medjay, a servant of the pharaoh, a public defender. In this capacity, Bayek is similar to Geralt, especially given the side quests that keep asking to help people solve their problems.

Speaking of side quests: Following the example of The Witcher, Origins tries to weave these quests into the main plot or make interesting independent stories out of them. Needless to say, here they are the most thoughtful in all the series?

At the same time, the game offers us a vast world to explore on foot, on horseback or by boat. Just like in The Witcher.

Origins is the franchise's most advanced open world to date (soon to be moved by The Odyssey), and Geralt fans will find plenty to do.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War

Almost all fantasy media culture is inspired in one way or another by The Lord of the Rings, which is equally true for The Witcher.

Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War are the most adult and cruel works in the world of Middle-earth, telling us about the events between The Hobbit and the Fellowship of the Ring. Both games are perfect for anyone who enjoys The Witcher.

The plot revolves around the ranger Talion, who is killed by Sauron's army and resurrected (and possessed) by Celebrimbor, lord of the elves. The game worlds of Shadows may be inferior to The Witcher in size and detail, but they are definitely worth your attention.

Talion is a dexterous and skilled fighter, and Celebrimbor's abilities allow him to move through Mordor like lightning.

Fans of Geralt will also appreciate the local combat system: dynamic, built on combos and counterattacks. Adding depth and uniqueness to Shadows is the Nemesis system, which is responsible for creating orc chieftains that will become your sworn enemies or allies.

Do you love The Witcher for its fantasy atmosphere? Then you especially should not miss both "Shadows".

Dark Souls

The Dark Souls series appeared on the gaming horizon a few years ago, and since then its popularity has only grown stronger. Not the most obvious choice when we are talking about games similar to The Witcher, but they have certain similarities.

Dark Souls is not for nothing known for its complexity, its whole essence comes down to overcoming the most difficult challenges and building personal skills.

The series is also distinguished by its gloom: dying worlds, terrible bosses, and a lot of hints scattered throughout the plot regarding the plot and lore. Given that Geralt's world is also laced with dark fantasy, The Witcher fans might enjoy exploring the world of Souls.

Dark Souls may not have a large open world, but there are plenty of secrets and mysteries to spend a lot of time on. The games in the series provide a truly unique experience, but they have enough in common with The Witcher to keep its fans interested.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Renowned talent has gathered to develop another open-world fantasy game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Ken Rolston, The Elder Gameplay Designer Scroll III: Morrowind, served as an executive producer. Acclaimed fantasy writer Robert Salvatore conceived the world and its lore, while Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn, worked on the art and character designs.

The game did not live long enough to live up to the bold expectations of its creators, but it does not become less of a quality. The setting of the game is rich in different races and religions, the combat system is action-oriented and gives the player the opportunity to use many types of weapons, fighting styles and classes. Much in KoA: Reckoning depends on the decisions of the player himself, and not without consequences.

In a way, Kingdoms of Amalur tried to push the boundaries of the genre, but failed. However, her world is so vast and rich that you do not notice this very failure. If you're looking for a quality fantasy game to satisfy your post-The Witcher itch, then this is a great option for you.

You can also get back into the dark fairy tale of Geralt's world with Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. This is a full-fledged game, which is a single-player Gwent campaign from a series of small stories in the Witcher universe. Well, you can meet Geralt himself in SoulCalibur VI, where he appears as a guest star.
