Assassin creed unity history. Assassin's Creed Unity - recognize her out of a thousand. Review. Reviews and reviews of the game "Assassin's Creed: Unity"

I just recently finished going through the Assassin's plot Creed Unity. Yes, yes, and it happens. It's not that it takes that long. There just wasn't time. I read in many reviews that the plot is not the best that this part can boast of. I do not quite agree with this and therefore decided to speak out. If you suddenly still have not completed the game and do not want to catch spoilers, do not read further. This text is one continuous spoiler.

And so what do we have? The story of Arno is simple: almost before his eyes, his father is killed, after which the boy is taken into the family by Francois de la Serre. As the game progresses, we learn that he is the head of the Knights Templar, and Arno's father was an assassin. Of course, Francois has a daughter, Eliza, who is pretty and dear to Arnaud's heart. Children grow up, relationships between them develop. But what happens is what leads Arno to the Assassins - they kill the head of the Templars. Arno, of course, becomes the only witness and the first person seen with the corpse. In those days, they did not bother with the investigation and Arno was immediately thrown into the Bastille. The use of this stamp is depressing. Exactly the same plot plot we see in The Crew and indeed it is a very common practice.

But thanks to him, we are witnessing the "heroic" storming of the Bastille and Arno's acquaintance with the Order of the Assassins. It is in prison that he meets Bellec, an old friend of Arno's father and an assassin to boot. And, in fact, he becomes Arno's mentor in the brotherhood.

Bellek in person

When I saw how Arno was accepted into the brotherhood, a nostalgic tear ran down my cheek. Finally, the game has returned to its roots, to the brotherhood, to the times of my favorite second part. And the Ubisoft initiation ceremony was just amazing. The mission where you run in your memory is one of the best in the game. But, unfortunately, the charm of the brotherhood ended there. When I saw one of the heads of the Negro brotherhood, I could not believe my eyes. Black person? Assassin? In 18th century France? Are you seriously???? Adewale as an assassin looked very organic. A slave who gained freedom and went to take revenge on the oppressors. In addition, Negroes were not uncommon on the islands of the Caribbean. But in France, where did the blacks come from?

And then a typical Assassin story began - a story of revenge. For some reason, Arno is deeply convinced that he is to blame for the death of his adoptive father (I still don’t understand why he took it) and decides to find the killer and take revenge. Well, it's a noble cause. In addition, the Assassins and the Templars, it turns out, have a truce. The developers again decided to show us that not everything is so simple, but they failed again. Francois de la Serre was exactly the leader who supported the truce with the Assassins. As it turned out, not everyone liked this idea. The disassembly of the Templars is shown well: they kill each other, plot intrigues, and the assassins somehow turned out to be completely on the side with no visible targets. Only Arno wants revenge. And this revenge of his fell perfectly on the search for the one responsible for violating the truce.

Immediately, the scriptwriters give us another interesting plot move: Arno learns that Eliza has followed in her father's footsteps and become a Templar. Now love is harder to build, well, like it is with an assassin. But the writers decided not to bother. Why make serious relationships and mental turmoil because of belonging to warring factions? Everything is much simpler: both Arno and Eliza want revenge. Therefore, together. Although everything is more complicated with Arno, but more on that later.

It is interesting to follow the investigation: unexpected places, people come across to us in revolutionary Paris. I really liked Napoleon. Too bad there isn't much of it in the game. And what an amazing Marquis de Sade turned out, the founder of sadism! After the game I ran to read his novels.

Young Napoleon

An unambiguous look at the goat

During the investigation, Arno gets carried away and kills someone who should not have been killed. The leaders of the fraternity are indignant. The moment of Arno's expulsion from the Assassins impressed me to the core. I sat there and couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. Arno is told that he, they say, has violated all the covenants of the brotherhood, does not remember the creed and is too carried away with revenge.

Ay??? Is there anyone here of sound mind and good memory? Isn't the credo “Nothing is true. Everything is allowed"? What about the permissiveness clause? What is the claim? Much revenge? So after all, Ezio was only engaged in taking revenge on the Borgia family for the murder of his father and brothers. But Ezio revived the brotherhood in Italy, and therefore he can, but Arno cannot. At this point, the writers got along, of course, specifically.

And what do we have in the final? And the ending is actually pretty good. I personally liked the idea that the Templars had nothing to cooperate with the Assassins. The world must be conquered by someone alone. Germain, the Grand Master of the Templars, was not happy with the peace with the Assassins. Bellec supported the same idea among the Assassins. He considered the Templars the main enemies. Alas, Arno did not share his point of view and killed him. As he ended up killing the Grand Master of the Templars. Everything was fine, if not for the death of Eliza. AT recent times I am not a supporter of happy endings, but here I wanted the story of Arno and Eliza to end well. But the developers decided to take an unexpected turn. And in the end they made a fool out of Eliza, in my opinion. During the investigation, it turned out that Arno no longer does this not so much for himself, but for the sake of the girl, and that he is ready for anything for her and her safety and life are more important to him. Quite a noble move on the part of a man in love. But Eliza didn't appreciate it. Her father's revenge comes first. And it ruined her. The fact is that Germain had a sword, and not a simple one, but the sword of Eden, which struck his enemies with lightning. And Eliza decided that she could handle it herself, and without Arno climbed into battle. And didn't get out of it. Apparently, the developers decided to make Arno look like Ezio to the end. In addition, his personal life settled down only to retirement.

It remains to sum up. The plot in Unity is mediocre. Of course, the series has never been famous for strong stories, but I would not say that everything is bad at all. Arno is not so obsessed with revenge, he is even ready to give it up for the sake of his beloved. Investigating is interesting, and looking for opportunities to kill is doubly interesting. It is a pity that the revolution turned out to be only a background, and the heroes do not take part in it in any way. I hope that the history of Victorian London will be deeper and more elaborate.

The first was often boring, but it had one strong feature: it had to plan. Here's a square with a bunch of guards, here's a victim yelling something in the crowd, here's an assassin's tool kit - get out!

Very controversial, but nevertheless, she was the first not afraid to return to where it all began. Gone are the naval battles, the complicated trading system, and the little things like horseback riding. What's left? The most important thing remains.

The simple art of killing

In the structure of ordinary missions Unity little has changed, but when it comes to the main thing - the murders - everything changes. Each time it's a massive puzzle in the spirit of . You usually have to act in vast locations, such as squares or palaces-fortresses with adjacent lands. And how to get close to the victim, again, you can decide for yourself.

Sometimes the game marks places worthy of attention on the map: here you can get a key to the back entrance, and here a barrel of poisoned wine will come in handy. With these tips, you can turn the case with special grace, finishing off the victim, say, in the confessional. By the time the guard catches on, you've already gone.

AT Unity, just like Hitman, you can disguise yourself, but without pulling on other people's trousers. With the help of a special ability, the hero briefly transforms into a guard, citizen or noble in a second.

In the new conditions of "hunting", eagle vision, which illuminates opponents even through walls, will become almost the most popular tool.

But no one will impose such a style of passing. There are usually so many guards at the levels that it is rarely possible to perform the operation very quietly. However, that was the original philosophy. Assassin's Creed— create opportunities, think on the go.

Location arrangement helps. A turmoil accidentally created on the fourth floor is unlikely to quickly attract the attention of a victim living on the first floor, but a well-timed hype will help to get close to her. This encourages decisive action: even the most hopeless situation can be turned to your advantage.

Several times per game, the Animus (now Helix) will naturally freeze, and Arno will have to survive in another era for some time. It is a pity that such episodes are fleeting - the idea is something hoo!

It will no longer be possible to break in noisily and boldly cut everyone, the combat system has been pretty reworked, and the enemies began to pose a significant threat. Opponents no longer intend to wait until you complete a swing or perform a spectacular finishing move. They even attack out of turn: to catch two axes in the back and a bullet in the forehead at the same time is now in the order of things.

Events can unfold in dozens of scenarios. Here you staged a massacre, but hid from the guards behind a smoke screen and go head-on straight at the victim left without protection. But carefully remove sentries on towers and walls, hoping to find a good point and jump onto the target from a height. And then they found that the window in the victim's room was open. It remains to distract the bodyguards ...

Brother for brother

The script has never been a strong point Assassin's Creed, and Unity, alas, is no exception.

This time we get the role of Arno, who survived the death of his father-assassin as a child and fell under the care of a Templar. For the time being, he did not suspect anything and simply lived, experiencing deep and even mutual feelings for his half-sister Eliza. But one day Arno's stepfather was killed, and it was our hero who was accused. And he would go to the chopping block, yes old friend father, also an assassin, saves the young man and convinces him to join the brotherhood.

pecking love story intriguing at first. Arno is an Assassin, Elisa is a Templar. Almost Romeo and Juliet!

But nothing interesting comes out of this love. The conflict of interest does not prevent the couple from cooperating and kissing passionately. No drama.

Gradually, everything turns into a strange scheme: "the Templars kill the Templars, and the Assassins help them in this." The motives of most of the characters are difficult to trace, and they are not interesting. And Arno himself is a boring type. Turned on revenge and wanted to spit at least on the creed of the assassins, at least on the revolution.

His "colleagues" have not gone far and either skillfully hide their goals from us, or do not have them at all. The Templars are always striving for power, but what the Assassins want and why they kill is not clear. For the greater good? Unconvincing.

It is especially disappointing that the Great French Revolution, for which everything was started, is almost not woven into the plot and serves only as a beautiful background.

Although only historical figures are of some interest (Arno, for example, will personally meet the Marquis de Sade and Napoleon), but they will not play a significant role in the plot.

Robespierre lived in this house

Therefore, the main and most interesting character Unity— Paris. Already something, but the chosen era and place of action Ubisoft always worked with inhuman meticulousness. paris in Unity huge, beautiful and detailed, and in the whole city there are no two identical gates. All the sights are in the right place, and according to the local encyclopedia, you can prepare for the exam in cultural studies. Large scale handicraft.

But, having drawn a spectacular and believable Paris, the developers again failed to cope with its content. There are enough interesting things to do here - take the same cooperative tasks in which we, in the company of two or four people, hunt for victims or rob palaces. But the story part and the open world exist in parallel planes, almost never intersecting.

The townspeople skillfully depict life. Someone is sweeping the yard, someone is cutting the barber's mustache, and someone is swinging a stick with the head of a guard over his head - the spirit of the revolution is definitely felt in the city.

Just walking around Paris and exploring it is no less interesting than going through the story. Especially considering that now you can not only roam the streets, but also go into many houses.

incentive to pass side quests no - you will get the best uniforms and weapons by completing the story. The developers tried to get out, but somehow clumsily: sometimes the game simply does not let you go further in the story until you buy new equipment and level up. And from under the stick, even interesting tasks are not too pulling.

No less annoying rude imposition additional services. To open some chests, you have to put mobile app or register on a special site. So far, these are trifles, but the trend is alarming. Very disturbing.

* * *

While the artists, 3D modelers, and level designers were working their magic, the programmers and QA staff seemed to be in soap trying to make the game work. However Unity still turned out to be buggy and badly optimized. Ubisoft can still fix the sagging framerate with patches and wean the assassins from getting their heads stuck in the wall. But, alas, the public has already remembered Unity such.

I'll start my story with the first part of Assassin's Creed. She had quite a few disadvantages, she was boring and monotonous, but what was good about her was story missions to kill the main enemies of the brotherhood. We were simply given dangerous territory, we were given a bunch of enemies and we had a blade in our hands, it was up to us to decide how to achieve the result. With each new game series, this approach to tasks went further and further, and was replaced by naval battle and a complex trading system.

And then Assassin's Creed: Unity appears, which turned away from all unnecessary innovations, we are again offered to take the path of the killer.

Quests, enemies, weapons.

The structure of the side quests hasn't changed much for the most part, but that's the problem with many games in open world. But they added quite interesting quests, riddles in which you need to find a place based on vague hints or investigations of murders in which you have to use deduction, but no one will interfere with planting an innocent.

But plot murders have changed a lot. The game will offer different ways kills and distractions, and there is nothing better than to gracefully kill the target and get away from the pursuers before they realize what happened, but no one forces you to resort to accurate methods of reprisal, you can go on a frontal attack and achieve what you want.

However, it will not be possible to hope for a frontal attack all the time because innovations have appeared in the game in the form of: division into difficulty levels by districts and a redesigned combat system. Enemies will no longer act like Jetelmeski and wait for their ally to die from a beautiful finishing move and will aggressively attack without letting you relax for a minute.

Since I mentioned the leveling of enemies, it is worth mentioning that Arno, as he progresses through the story, gains the opportunity to learn new skills and use the extra money to buy equipment. Customization vs. previous parts amazes with its variety, hoods and panties are a nice addition, and each piece of equipment gives not only visual satisfaction, but also a bonus to stats. With weapons this time, too, everything is not so simple, it is not divided into several classes and, like clothes, has a division into levels. What is more expensive is better.

Plot.

In the Assassin's Creed series, the plot has always been not in the most important place, it was interesting but not brilliant, Unity, alas, was no exception.

For this, we are given the role of Arno Dorian, a hereditary assassin who survived the death of his father in childhood and was taken under guardianship by a Templar. Our Arno lived and lived, experienced warm, even very warm feelings with his half-sister Elise, only now his guardian is overtaken by death and our hero is blamed for this. A very interesting plot, however, is quickly lost against the backdrop of the political games of the Templars who are again reaching for power and the brotherhood of assassins who are trying to stop them, the protagonist's love line for Elise is too distorted, which is insignificant for the plot. And the period of the French Revolution serves only as a decoration and we are not allowed to leave a trace in history.

Scene.

This time, as you already know, Paris became the scene of action, and the meticulousness with which it was created is simply amazing, the artists from Ubisoft do not get their money in vain. Just walking around this large and detailed city is a pleasure, and the guide will help you study the history of Paris, a virtual tour is provided for you.

This is truly amazing and great work.

Multiplayer.

This time, they decided to abandon the competitive multiplayer by introducing a cooperative in its place. I can't say he's better. Most stealth mechanics don't work when the strength is 4 times greater. Therefore, most tasks turn into a hurricane slasher, and there is no place for stealth.

Despite the skepticism presented by the not particularly interesting Assassin's Creed Black Flag Unity was able to restore faith in the series. And the incident associated with a buggy start and Yubisovt's apology in the form of a free add-on makes us reconsider our attitude towards the publisher. It is already useless to rate the game, but it is really interesting and quality game worth your money.

Game tested on PC

The French from Ubisoft have long outdone their counterparts from Activision in exploiting the profitable series. The confrontation between the Assassins and the Templars has gone far beyond digital entertainment alone: based on their motives, card game and books, several comics were released, a short series and a cartoon were shot, and a full-length picture is also in line. As for the games, this year there are two of them at once. True, this time we are talking supposedly about something really new: while the owners of the previous generation of consoles are content with Assassin's Creed Rogue (which will be discussed tomorrow), on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and personal computers is available Assassin's Creed Unity. However, despite the beautiful engine and a lot of high-profile promises, in reality, Unity turns out to be the same game - with a boring process and familiar sores.

Freedom equality Brotherhood

This time we are transferred to Paris - during the French Revolution. The monarchy is gradually losing its power, the people are starving, tension is growing, and real chaos is happening on the streets of the capital. Residents begin to attack food warehouses and trading shops, set fires and fight desperately for freedom. The soldiers, unable to do anything, look at what is happening through their fingers and protect only the frightened rulers who have locked themselves in their palaces. Worse, a handful of influential aristocrats begin their squabble for power, which finally destabilizes the already shaky situation in the country. As a result, the situation gets out of control of the ruling elite and develops into a full-scale civil war.

Meanwhile, the young hero of Austrian-French origin Arno Dorian is not to be envied. The adoptive father, a Templar, is killed by unknown people in front of the boy. So the son of a rich official who has become useless finds himself on the street, moonlights as a groom and constantly gets into trouble because of a scam in gambling. Because of his love of adventure, a young guy witnesses the murder of his father by his beloved. No one really bothered to understand: a blow with a butt in the jaw - “Guilty!”. Fortunately, he did not have to rot in the dungeon for a long time - a short acquaintance with a convict named Bellec helps to get out of the besieged Bastille in time. A tangle of conspiracies and political intrigues leads Arno to the assassins, who quickly bring him up to date and initiate him into their brotherhood.

No time to explain - get to work!

The Assassin's Creed series has always been famous for its intricate alternate history storytelling. The problem with Unity is not the complexity of the story, but the way it is presented. Events change one after another, and there is simply no time left for the motives and thoughts of the characters. A small dialogue is the only thing that happens before each task. Kill? Steal documents? Free the prisoners? Yes, there is nothing to do! Answers to the questions "Why?", "For what?" and why?" often remain behind the scenes. At the same time, the scriptwriters did not seem to think that there were people who had not previously played in any of the parts. Newcomers are not at all welcome here - no one will really explain what is happening in our world, what does the Abstergo corporation have to do with it and why the Templars did not disband back in 1312. Moreover, the developers manage to build a garden of sheer nonsense with errors in the code and an attempt to hack the server, taking us either to German-occupied Paris, or during the construction of the Statue of Liberty.

However, some tasks in any case will remain in the memory for a long time. Escape from a subway train rushing towards the hero, climbing the Eiffel Tower at the moment when the German squadron is hunting Arno, the execution of Louis XVI and an attempt to catch Balloon.… What a pity that there are monstrously few such successful moments in the campaign. But absolutely before each mission, we are carefully shown the location from all angles, explain what can be used to make it a little easier to eliminate the target, and write how many soldiers are guarding the perimeter. In addition, now, as in Hitman, some kills can be adjusted using key points on the map. Alas, to optional tasks this does not apply: a short text briefing and a journey from point A to point B is all that the authors had enough for.

As in previous parts, the player has access to huge map, which opens as you progress. Virtual Paris is filled with hundreds of different bonuses: hidden objects and badges, chests that just beg to be plundered, puzzles and riddles... However, it cannot be said that all this is very exciting - if in Assassin's Creed 2 the search was fresh and interesting, then five years later they evoke a yawn. Obviously, Ubisoft believes that many will be interested in a series of monotonous actions to save the inhabitants for the sake of the next replenishment of the arsenal. Fortunately, all this routine is not at all necessary - the shops are already overflowing with various weapons, if only there was enough money.

Weapon samples are noticeably different from each other. Some Arno will swing like a conductor with a baton, while others - like two-handed axes with maces - will hardly lift. The choice should be approached wisely, because the combat system has become much more complicated. Now the opponents attack more actively from behind, and it is not so easy to repel their blows - the clumsy hero often misses attacks, and it is not easy to dodge a shot from a pistol. Fortunately, you can always just run away by dissolving into a smoke bomb explosion. In Assassin's Creed Unity, they generally made a big bet on stealth. The hero knows how to hide behind covers and move unnoticed on his haunches, and one of the costume improvements will allow him to run almost silently. If, on the way to the goal, a sentry looms, then it is easier to throw a poison dart at him than to get around - not only will the poor fellow die himself, he will also distract the guards passing by.

Time goes by, nothing changes

Along with the usual gameplay, "Unity" drags along a bunch of bugs, which are even more here than in previous parts. There were two patches of the first day, and the third soon followed them. And even after that, the unlucky assassin manages to get stuck in the walls, passers-by often disappear, and merchants suddenly find themselves somewhere on the roof. The problem with the physical model of dead bodies has not gone away either. Sometimes the poor fellow twists as if they were being squeezed by the hands of an invisible giant. All this, of course, is damn funny, does not affect the game process and constantly causes a smile, but such errors should not come across in the final code. It is not clear where the testers were looking, and whether they were at all. Of course, you can blame all the problems on new version engine, but in this case it was worth giving up the business plan and moving the release date so as not to deceive the expectations of the players.

Although if we consider AnvilNext 2.0 as a bridge to the next generation of consoles, then the developers almost succeeded. When endless bugs do not block the view, you can admire the cramped streets of Paris for a long time: for the first time in the series, the buildings are drawn in full size, there are really huge crowds of people busy with their own business, and bright light combined with textures high resolution sometimes creates an almost photorealistic picture. Remove subtitles in the game settings - and most of the screenshots can be safely used as wallpaper for your desktop. This is especially true for commercials - competent directing and chic models of the main characters work wonders, you want not to miss a single detail. Only muddy houses in the distance and right in front of the disappearing corpses of enemies are really annoying. But this, apparently, is a necessary measure - at maximum graphics settings, Unity manages to keep even a very powerful computer busy.

Assassin's Creed Unity - good game, it is pleasant to spend time in it, and you certainly want to pass it before end credits. However, there is a feeling that all this is nothing more than a reserve for the inevitable future parts. Vaunted cooperative mode works only in the company of friends, while strangers turn him into a uniform bedlam. The new graphics engine draws fantastically beautiful landscapes while sporting an equally fantastic amount of bugs, oddities, and imperfections of all sorts and calibers. It's a shame that Ubisoft has begun to sink below its own level.

Advantages:

  • the game is very beautiful at maximum settings;
  • individual missions are etched into memory;
  • the complication of the combat system has benefited the series.

Flaws:

  • a monstrous number of bugs;
  • most of the tasks are frankly boring;
  • indistinct plot;
  • potentially good, but spoiled by the technical implementation of the cooperative.
Graphic arts A very beautiful graphics engine suffers from ridiculous problems. It becomes a shame when you look at the beautiful character models, huge crowds of passers-by and the detailed drawing of the smallest objects, and “soapy” textures, disappearing heroes and melting faces constantly flash on the screen. 7
Sound The soundtrack is not the same as before, because Jesper Kud did not take part in writing compositions. Periodically, beautiful music comes from the speakers, but after passing through Unity, your playlist is unlikely to be replenished with new tracks. The voice acting is traditionally successful. 7
Single player game A huge number of monotonous and template tasks, as well as routine secondary missions spoil the impression of the few truly excellent quests. But it's still worth going through the game for them. 6
Collective game In the cutscenes, the cooperative mode looked very cool: the interaction of several assassins, the competent distribution of roles, silent killings ... But if you play it with strangers, then from Paris you will end up in the Pandemonium branch. 6
General impression Assassin's Creed Unity is far from ideal, and certainly not something new. Yes, it's beautiful. Yes, there are new interesting opportunities and the old ones have been improved. Yes, when you close the game, you want to open the textbook on the history of that time again. However, Ubisoft promised us much more. 7

    All these episodes are not available in the game, they are references to other games in the Assassin's Creed series, showing that they are all pieces of one large Abstergo system. Moreover, there are much more episodes than released games. Some historical episodes are possible topics for future games in the series Assassin's Creed.

    On the advice of the girl, we take an apple from the table. A guard notices us and runs after us. We run away and hide behind a green hedge, waiting for them to stop looking for us.

    Objective: Talk to the girl

    The guard stands in front of the gate. We show ourselves to his eyes, run away around the corner. While the guard went to look for us, we pass into open doors. We catch up with the girl and get to know her. Her name is Eliza.

    Goal: Find out what's going on

    We run to the noise of the crowd. We see that our father was killed. At the same time, we break the clock.

    Thirteen years later

    The grown-up boy climbed into someone's house to return his father's watch. We run away from the owner of the house. The watch will fall out and be picked up by the owner's brother named Hugo.

    Goal: Catch up with Hugo

    Run for Hugo. On the way, we specifically jump into the windows or slip under the tables to perform additional condition tasks.

    Goal: Don't get caught

    Objective: Go to De La Serre Estate

    We get to our house. Here, robbed people are catching up with us, but Eliza's father, who has sheltered us, solves the problem peacefully.

We enter the tavern through the far door, stealthily sneak up from behind (the "Ctrl" key) and use pickpocketing (hold down the "E" key) to get the keys. If the thieves notice us, we exit from one door, run around the building, enter through another door and steal the keys from behind in the same way, while the enemies look out for us on the other side.

    Kill Opportunity: Kill Duchesneau

    The Templar has an agent among the clergy. This agent is outside in front of the cathedral. We are watching him, waiting for him to go to the cemetery. The king stands at the top on the opposite platform, we jump over the bars to him and jump from above, we kill the target. We learn that the Beggar King participated in the attack on De La Serra, and for the murder he used a special silver pin.

    Objective: Leave the area

    In the same way we return to the surface. If all the shutters were closed, then we will go through thick fog, and none of the enemies will notice us.

    On the surface, we learn that the throne of the king of beggars has already been occupied by Francois, who led us to the goal. This time, François advises us to find the jeweler who created the silver pin.
