How to play Berserk Heroes. Berserk VS. Berserk. Heroes. Professional duel sets of the classic "Berserker"

Berserk– Russian collectible card game, one of the longest and most famous in our market. hobby world started publishing it in 2005. For so many years, the game has undergone a number of changes, at one time it was even frozen, but in 2015 a new branch came out - "Heroes", with modified mechanics.

Today we are reviewing a new release. Heroes, this is already the fifth set, we remind you that the first two issues will no longer take part in official tournaments, but in amateur fights - easily.

So what is in the five new boxes of the game "Berserk: Heroes. Stormborn?

This is what we will find out now.

Decor: an icon appeared in the upper right corner of the box elements. We open. Inside - the player's starting deck and a booster as a gift. Further, unusual "totem pole" and tablets with tokens, among which - Prayer tokens(in the photo, the reverse and front side of the tokens), which are tied to the new mechanics, 10 coins. Detailed rulebook.

As in ordinary Heroes, players choose their characters and duel on the cards. Collectible game, so you can build your deck to your liking, improving it all the time by buying boosters, individual cards, or trading with other players.

Deck formation. Each player must have 30 or more cards in the deck, with the same elements. No more than three cards of the same type (except Horde cards). The deck consists of the main Hero - Character and his assistants: creatures, equipment, spells, events.

Your Character collects an army for himself, puts up defense and attacks the enemy army, trying to get and destroy the enemy Hero. What needs to be done for all this? First of all, choose Hero, balance the deck well and find a worthy opponent.

Preparation, the course of the game remains the same. Also, at the beginning of the game, players have 4 cards each, and one coin is added each round, only now you can still receive prayer tokens and spend them on buying cards or activating the Hero's ability. Prayer tokens can be earned by using the features of the selected character or the properties of some cards. When you receive a Token, place it on the Hero card or on the Totem Pole.

Appeared secrecy, more precisely, such mechanics existed before, but the number of cards was very limited - 12 cards in 4 sets. In the fifth, they focused on it - as many as 26 cards were issued.

A hidden creature cannot be attacked by any attack, direct or spell. In the accumulation phase, the player reveals the hidden cards, and it can act this turn.

Otherwise, the preparation, the battle and the entire course of the game takes place according to the same rules.

New Heroes of the board game Berserk: Heroes. Stormborn"

I'll start with the girls. Let it be the first Merisa, Rogue Hero. Element: Steppe. Peculiarity: skillfully and quickly breaks through the opponent's defense, clearing the way to the cherished goal - someone else's Hero of the enemy. The more decisive and aggressive her attack, the more likely she is to win.

Niara, Hero - Mage. Element: The mountains. Peculiarity: magic, skillfully uses spells, incinerating and freezing his opponents, and without any hesitation. Predicts the future - can look into his deck and control the flow required cards in hand. If you allow Niara to collect a successful combination of cards, woe to her opponent!

Now men. Elmore, Rogue Hero.Element: dark. This is a dark Elf, a thug who is dangerous to cross the road. Peculiarity: his strong point is Stealth, often using cards with Stealth, acting suddenly, swiftly and aggressively. His second feature is his friend the ferret Yoro, in battle he is simply irreplaceable. If Yoro succeeds in injuring an enemy creature, then he skips a turn. In the event of death, Yoro does not die, but returns to the Elmore deck, where the owner easily finds him.

Gorug, Hero-Priest. Element: Bogs. Peculiarity: a fanatic, prays to his god Warlog and is sure that he reciprocates. Like it or not, however, the more Prayer Tokens Gorug collects, the more he can exchange them for cards from the deck, the higher the chance of winning. His entire strategy is based on new mechanics.

Zumb, the most brutal new character, Hero - Warrior. Element: Forest. Peculiarity: puts as many of his warriors on the field as possible, makes them fight enemy creatures. After the battle, he heals his wounded. The more persistent and confident the attack is, from turn to turn, the faster the enemy will be defeated.

Differences "Born in the Storm" from previous issues of Berserk. Heroes.

- No training deck included. Those. Previously, it was theoretically possible to play two players with the purchase of one set. But it was not very interesting, so a maximum of several cards were selected and inserted into a personal deck. Perhaps that is why the training set was abolished.

- A very limited set of tokens, it is assumed that you have already purchased early releases. Either they decided to save money, or the “totem pole” cost a lot. In any case, one set of "Born in the Storm" will not do here if you have not played Heroes before.

- There are only 10 coins, previously there were 20. That is. the kit is strictly designed for one player, well, there are no special questions. There is no training deck, coins then there is no particular need for coins.

- New art of coins, a trifle, but nice. In general, I liked the art, especially if you think that the game is domestic.

- The game has become faster and more aggressive, due to the characteristics of the characters.

Summarizing.

It must be admitted that for quite some time Berserker, and to all KKI treated rather cool, or rather, nothing. Then there was a short acquaintance with MTG, longer with Hearthstone, so to release "Berserk. Heroes» already mentally prepared. And, after a long slight dislike, I gave these games a second chance. I hope I won’t become a collector and an avid player, but I won’t refuse games anymore.

Classic "Berserk"

background

In the distant world of Laar, units of the six elements are fighting, as well as the so-called "neutral" units and creatures led by powerful magicians - ungars (players). For centuries they fought for survival in this world, once scorched by the fire of the Cataclysm. Now everyone can assemble their own army and become the arbiter of their own fate, and, perhaps, the fate of Laar ...

Prohibitions

Fan sets are prohibited in official tournaments. His cards are determined by a special back. The reason for this is the absurdity of the cards and their features.

Also, due to the imbalance in official tournaments of various formats, it is impossible to use such cards as the Chaos Wyrm, Ifrit, Kyedel, Cloak of Invisibility, Wagon of the Inquisition, Staff of Distortion, Sphere of Lightning, " Prisoner of Memory", "Keeper of the Tree", "Elyata" (prohibited for use in "Class Wars").

In addition, in official tournaments, ordinary players are not allowed to play super-powered class cards. Lord(Xedden, Tree of Life, Spirit of Adrelian, Kianna, Nut, Krom, Archaal, Dragon King, Tendala, and Talitha). They are used only by game masters in tournaments of a special kind, and ordinary players try to defeat these overlords. The one who succeeds receives the entire deck of the overlord, and most importantly, the “Overlord” card itself as a prize.

    • There may also be exceptions when a card of any class gets an "inappropriate element": Renegade Dwarf (neutral dwarf), Legionary Dwarf (steppe dwarf), Talos (neutral demon), Orc Stalker (neutral orc), Mountain Orc, and Wolf Rider (Mountain Orc), Bonebreaker (Mountain Troll), Siren (Neutral River Maiden), Gray Elf (Neutral Elf), Dark Elf, Soul Burner, Swarm Priest, Swarm Warrior, Swarm Spider, Imagori, Swarm Scout ( dark elves) etc.

In the fourteenth set ("Cataclysm"), multi-elemental cards appeared - they have signs of several elements at the same time and have their own design in the form of water flows. As a rule, such cards have either an inter-elemental class (say, elemental), or are endowed with several classes at once, one from each element.

Neutral cards coexist with any other. And between the elements there are often “conflicts” that complicate the recruitment and payment of the detachment (each element in the same detachment, starting from the third in a row, is fined).

Each card contains the following information:

  • Card cost (in crystals)
  • Card type
  • Initial number of lives
  • Stock movement (or "flight" or "symbiote" icon)
  • The force of a simple blow (three numbers X-Y-Z)
  • Map features (game text)
  • Artistic text

H - frequent,
P on a blue background - rare,

crown - ultra-rare;
star - promo (special) card.

Promo cards can be obtained by participating in official Berserk tournaments. You can also get full-size maps there - for such maps, the illustration occupies the entire area of the map, the text is placed on top of the drawing. Promo cards for "Night Assassin", "Mage's Apprentice", "Knight Errant" and "Balthorn" could be found in the World of Fantasy magazine.

Card types

  • Creature. At the beginning of the battle, it is located on the field. Can attack, parry and act as a defender. The creature's information usually includes cost, starting life, number of turns, card attack, card features, and artistic text. There are also creatures that do not have a number of moves: flying creatures (with wings instead of units of movement), after opening they are located in an additional zone; symbiotes (with a symbiote icon instead of movement units), after opening, located on other creatures.
  • Artifact. At the beginning of the battle, it is located on the field. Cannot attack, parry, or defend. Artifact information usually includes cost, starting life, card features, and artistic text.
  • terrain. Before the showdown is on the field, after - in the auxiliary zone. Each player can have only one terrain in the squad. The information does not indicate the number of lives, the stock of movement, and the strength of the blow. the area cannot be destroyed.
  • Equipment. It has a single basic property - cost. Cannot attack, but has the ability to block all attacks against itself and take no damage. Equipment is divided into five classes - armor, weapons, shield, shoes, potion. The latter most often has a property like "Destroy a potion - give your card such and such a bonus."

Game zones

  • Battlefield (main field 5x6 cells)
  • Auxiliary zone (here are the terrain (s), flying creatures and some other cards, such as artifacts "Reed Idol", "Hammer of Time")
  • Deck (your deck)
  • Graveyard ("dead" creatures and destroyed artifacts/terrain/equipment)

Game process

"Berserk" by game mechanics reminiscent of classic wargames.

Before the start of the battle, it is determined which of the players will be the attacker and who will be the defender. The players roll the dice. The one who threw more, chooses who will be the First player (receives 23 gold and 22 silver crystals to recruit a squad), and who - the Second player (receives 24 gold (rule revision 28 February 2011 (Version 13.1d)) and 23 silver crystals). Then a detachment is recruited for the received crystals. The players place the recruited squad on the playing field, after which the First player becomes active and receives the right to move.

On their turn, a player can move their creatures, as well as act: each creature can attack a nearby enemy card with a simple blow or use the action described in its game text (for example, a shot or a spell). The affected card is “closed” (that is, it becomes temporarily incapacitated, as a sign of which it turns to the right 90 degrees) and can no longer move this turn. When a player decides to finish moving and acting with his cards, the turn is passed to the opponent. One strategic moment is important - the biggest damage, as a rule, is caused by a simple blow. But an open card (usually one that did not act on its turn) has a chance to fight off a simple blow or even strike back, while a simple blow almost always passes on a closed card. Also, an open creature can protect a nearby card from a simple blow by taking an attack on itself. There are many cards in the game, the text of which contradicts the rules of the game, but it is the text of the card that needs to be trusted (the so-called "Rule of the Ax").

The game can go on different terrain and according to completely different rules. Variants of the game are possible with hiding cards under a bench or trash can, exchanging money (crystals) between players.

Stroke structure

Initial Phase

Opening sub-phase. All face down cards of the Active Player are revealed at the same time. All traits and properties that trigger at that moment go on the stack. Neither player receives priority in this sub-phase.

Sub-phase of the beginning of the turn. In this subphase, all the features that act “at the beginning of the turn” are triggered.

Main Phase

Sub-phase of Choice. The active player selects a Movement, Action, Combat sub-phase for a card in his squad, or a Final Phase, after which the game enters the selected sub-phase (phase).

Movement sub-phase. The active player declares how and to which square of the battlefield the selected card will move. After both players pass, this card moves.

Subphase Actions. The active player declares the action of the chosen card and, if necessary, indicates the goal (s). After both players pass, the card is valid.

The active player returns to the Select subphase.

Battle sub-phase.

Stage Before Attack. At this stage, the features "before the attack" are triggered. The active player declares with what attack (hit) and what target his creature is attacking.

An inactive player can assign a defender to the selected attack target. This action is played as a sudden action. If it was interrupted or blocked, then the Inactive player can appoint a defender again.

Stage On offense. At the start of this phase, all On Attack traits will trigger. The creature that declared the attack becomes the attacker. Protector, and in its absence, the original target becomes reflective. Dice rolls determine the attacks exchanged between creatures. The player who rolls the most on the die gets the opportunity to play a reduction to a weak strike on the strike table. Then there is a calculation and infliction of wounds on the cards of the players.

Stage After the attack. At this stage, the "after attack" features are triggered. The attacking card, the Defender from the blow are closed. Cards cease to be attacking and reflecting.

The active player returns to the Select subphase.

Final Phase

Ending sub-phase. Features "at the end of the turn" are triggered in this sub-phase. The Active Player passes the turn and becomes the Inactive Player, and the Inactive Player receives the turn and becomes the Active Player. .

Each player draws a game deck from his cards on the received crystals, which is laid out on the game table.

For good chances of winning, the player is advised to have creatures of different elements and classes in his hands, while taking into account that cards of different elements conflict with each other and, starting from the third new element, are subject to a penalty.

There are cards of 6 types (elements), each with 1-4 classes, neutral cards, plus there are multi-elemental cards related to several or all types at once.

    • The woods (Elves, Ents, Children of Crong)

    • Artifact. With its help, special actions are performed.
    • Locality. Changes the conditions of the playing field
    • Equipment. There are five classes (armor, edged weapons, protection, shoes, potion). Changes the characteristics of Creature cards.

The course of the game in the board game Berserk

During the turn, the walker can move his creatures or make them attack the opponent's cards either with a simple strike or with a special blow described on the card. A spent card is flipped 90°C and is inactive until the end of that turn. The player has the right to decide how many cards he wants to use, after which the right to move is transferred to the opponent.

Working cards, unlike inverted cards, can block or reflect a blow towards. Also, at the will of the defending player, they can take on a blow that was not intended for them, protecting other creatures. In addition, there are many individual card exceptions that can be used to circumvent the rules. At the beginning of each next turn, inactive cards are restored.

During an attack, players roll a die that determines the type of attack. The one who rolled more points has the right to lower the attack power to a weaker one. Received wounds are applied to the cards of opponents. Before, during and after the attack, the available special actions on both sides can be used. In addition, specific actions can be performed at the beginning, at the end of the turn.

    End of the game

Victory is awarded when the opponent's cards are completely destroyed.

    KKI "Berserk"

"Berserk" is a board game published by OOO Mir Fantasy. Belongs to the class of collectible card games.

The name of the game is consonant with the Scandinavian word Berserker - a fearless warrior, ready to rush into battle at any moment, forgetting about fear and pain. Berserk is one of the first Russian collectible card games.

Since 2003, Berserk has been one of the most popular TCGs in Russia and Belarus. There are clubs of fans of the game, championships are held regularly

    background

In the distant world of Laar, wandering detachments of the five elements are fighting, led by powerful Ungar mages. For centuries they fought for survival in this world, once scorched by the fire of the Cataclysm. Now everyone can assemble their own army and become the arbiter of their own fate, and, perhaps, the fate of Laar ...

    Purpose of the game

As in all CCGs, the goal of the game is to win a duel with another player. In Berserk, victory is usually awarded to the player who has destroyed all of the opponent's creatures.

    Game kits

    The following sets are published:

Initial decks (Starters). They include: rules of the game, a deck of 30 cards, a booster, chips and a die for the game.
Boosters (additional sets, consist of 7 cards, one of which is rare / super-rare or ultra-rare). In the boosters of the latest releases, there are also play money of various denominations - "Sodars". After accumulating enough sodars, players can exchange them for promo cards at the board game club in their city.
Pro-boosters (additional sets, consisting of 12 cards, two of which are rare/super-rare or ultra-rare in any combination). In official tournaments, it is Pro-boosters that are predominantly used.
Professional decks. Thematic decks of 30 cards. Stronger than starter decks, tournament ready. They also include: the rules of the game, chips and a die for the game.
Educational sets "Legends of Russia" (18 cards: two squads of 9 cards, game rules, chips and a die for the game).
Fan set (Parody set of 28 cards). Some Fanset cards have their own back: it indicates that the game features of such cards are obviously absurd. Cards with an "abnormal" back are prohibited in official tournaments.

Also, due to the imbalance in official tournaments, the cards “Battle Herald”, “Wyrm of Chaos”, “Ifrit”, “Kiedel”, “Cloak of Invisibility”, “Wagon of the Inquisition”, “Staff of Distortion”, “Pathfinder”, “Orb of Lightning” are prohibited ”, “Prisoner of Memory”, “Keeper of the Tree”, “Elyata”.
And finally, in official tournaments, ordinary players are not allowed to play super-powered cards of the overlord class (Xedden, Tree of Life, Spirit of Adrelian, Kianna, Chickpea, Krom, Archaal). Overlords are used only by game masters in special tournaments, and ordinary players try to defeat these overlords. The one who succeeds will receive the entire deck of the overlord, and most importantly the "Overlord" card itself as a prize.

    Cards

Cards in Berserk are divided into 6 types (according to the names of the elements), and those, in turn, are divided into classes:
Forests (green background with vine decoration)
Children of Krong (some representatives of this class are assigned to other elements - Swamps, Mountains, Steppes, Darkness)
    Guardians of the Forest
Elves (occasionally there are also Dark Elves, not Forest Elves)
Mountains (bluish-gray background with stone-style decoration)
    Gnomes
    Yordlings
    Linungs
Swamps (dark green background with mud decoration)
    Archaalites
    Corelings (starting from set 15)
    River Maidens
Trolls (occasionally there are also mountain trolls, not swamp trolls)
Steppes (yellow background with desert-style decoration)
    Akkenians
    Brotherhood (starting from set 15)
Orcs (occasionally also come across Mountain, not steppe)
    Toa-Dan
Forces of Darkness (black background with decoration in the form of bones)
    Demons
    coven
    Slua
    Twilight (starting from set 15)
Neutral cards, that is, not assigned to any of the elements (brown background, symbol - a panoply from a shield, sword and mace)
    Inquisitors
    Coyars
    Pirates
    spawn
there may also be exceptions when a card of a class “not inherent” to them is assigned to neutrals: gnome (Dwarf-apostate), demon (Talos), orc (Orc-stalker), river maiden (Siren), elf (Gray elf), etc. P.

There are also a number of "inter-elemental" classes: Angels, Reborn, Harpies, Warrior Heroes, Mage Heroes, Dragons, Overlords, Elementals.

A card can sometimes have not one, but several classes at once. There are also "cards without a class".

    Card cost (in crystals)
    Card type
    Initial number of lives
Stock movement (or "flight" or "symbiote" icon)
The force of a simple blow (three numbers X-Y-Z)
    Map features (game text)
    Artistic text
    Release Symbol
    Painter
    Card rarity:

    M - numerous (cards of starters of the "War of the Elements", later this rarity was canceled);
    H - frequent,
    P on a blue background - rare,
    R or C on a green background - super-rare;
    crown - ultra-rare;
    star - promo (special) card.

« Where is my axe, where is my meat? Oh no, it's poisoned...»

I had a period on the blog when I wrote a series of reviews on collectible card games. There was also a popular MtG and I love LegendoftheFiveRings, and smaller representatives of card games. I was also planning another review of one Russian card game, but the stars in the sky did not converge, I got tired of writing about CCI and jumped to ordinary board games. But after looking through the telescope tonight, I realized that the stars have finally aligned, and I just have to write a review of the game Berserk.

For the whole game with its rich history, one article is definitely not enough, so I will limit myself to the last special issue called " Elemental Storm».

    What is Berserk?

Once upon a time, around the time when dinosaurs were still running around the Earth, Ivan Popov and Maxim Istomin got acquainted with the game Magic:theGathering(I can't keep silent about this game). And they liked the “hoe” so much that they decided to make their own game. With beautiful cards, a field and its own unique world. This is how the game came about Berserk.

This is a strategic collectible card game where creatures fight each other on the battlefield. The one who manages to defeat the opponent's army wins.

As in any typical CCI in Berserking each player has their own deck of cards. Cards have a degree of rarity - from numerous to legendary. In this plan B(Berserk) has no special differences. But game process unique, especially if we talk about it within the framework of the Russian gaming industry.

    Game process

All cards in Berserking These are creatures, terrain, artifacts, and equipment. A starting deck is made up of at least 30 cards and no more than 50. Cards are taken from special sets - starters and boosters. There are 6 elements in the game (there used to be 5), into which the cards are divided - steppes, forests, mountains, swamps, darkness and fire.

Out of 30 cards, each player deals himself 15. Yes, this is the main catch - you will not be able to play all the cards, no matter how much you want to. After that, the formation of detachments takes place. Each card has a cost in the upper left corner, displayed in gold or silver crystals. Depending on the number of elements to which the cards in your deck belong, and the order of the move (you go first or second), you recruit a squad for a certain number of crystals. For example, for a two-element unit, the player who goes first is given 23 gold crystals and 22 silver. And if the second player has one element, then he has 25 gold and 23 silver. Accordingly, the fewer elements, the more crystals you will have.

After recruiting a squad, each player begins to place cards on the field.

The fact is that Berserk slightly atypical KKI. It's more like a wargame. Players fight on a 5x6 field. The arrangement takes place in their own half of the field according to special rules, which I will not dwell on. And as soon as you have laid out the cards on the field, the game turns into chess. Each card has a health level, movement points, a unique property, as well as attack indicators.

And yet the English text is not just there ...

At the beginning of the game, you lay out the cards in the available three lines. Tanks are logically placed in front, then magicians, archers and other ranged warriors follow them. The deployment of troops should be taken seriously, as this is one of the guarantees of victory.

On their turn, players can move and take actions. Moreover, you can do this with all the cards at once, and not one card at a time, passing the move to the opponent.

Revealed creatures (i.e. untapped) can move a certain number of squares on the field. On a free square to the right, left, top or bottom, but not diagonally (unless the card has such a unique property).

A revealed creature can take one of three actions:

    - attack with a simple blow;

    - act as a defender from a simple blow;

    - use the abilities of the card per turn.

After taking an action, the card must rotate 90°, which means it can no longer move or act. This system is well known experienced players kishnikam.

Now I will briefly go over the types of actions.

Attack with a simple blow. Each card has magic numbers like 1-2-2 or 3-4-5 etc. is a simple blow. The first number is weak, the second is medium, and the third is strong. A simple strike can only attack a nearby card. If the attacked creature is face up, it fights the attacking creature. Each player rolls a die. First, it turns out who threw the most. Then the difference of throws is calculated. For example, the attacker rolled 4, the defender - 1. The difference - 3. We look at the special table, what happened in the end. Attacker rolled more + diff 3 = Attacker throws a medium hit that deflects a miss.

From this table, you can also find out that it is possible for the attacker to receive damage from the defender if he throws more and with a big difference. So in this game, you can easily step on a rake.

Only now, if the defender is turned, then he will not be able to strike back. The attacker hits lightly on a 1-3 die roll, medium on a 4-5, and hard on a 6+.

Appointment of a defender. The defender can be any face-up card-creature that is at the same time next to the defending and attacking creatures. In this case, the defender says - I'm sorry, you're not attacking this creature, but me. This is good in cases where you need to save an important card. Defenders are very important in Berserking.

Using the per turn feature. Some cards have such properties - they are indicated by a special turn icon. As a rule, this is some kind of special blow. Only in this case, the creature cannot receive a retaliatory blow.

If the creature has wounds equal to or greater than hit points, it is destroyed. The game ends when one of the sides is completely taken out.

    Elemental Storm

This is a special set in which you will find everything you need to thoroughly get to know the game. Namely:

    - regulations;

    — 6 decks of different elements;

    - a deck of neutral cards;

    — 2 playing fields(for each player);

    - cubes;

    - all the necessary chips.

The rules are bright and colorful. Everything you need for the entry level is described there. But I still recommend that after studying this book of rules, download the extended rules from the official site. There are a lot of pages in small print, but all the nuances are described in detail. And you will still have questions sooner or later.

As I already mentioned, in Berserking there are 6 elements. AT Storm of Elements all these elements are represented by full-fledged decks consisting of 30 cards. You can build your own decks from any number of elements, you can add neutral cards, or you can play mono decks, which I recommend if you are unfamiliar with the game.

    double sided comic

Let's talk about each of the elements, because they differ not only in emblems and card colors.

Akkenians (element of the steppes). Good warriors who have both strong healthy tanks and small weak warriors who have the skill of throwing and shooting. They often possess the "vanguard" property, which allows them to make one unanswered attack with a simple blow to the nearest opponent before the start of the battle. They often know how to "give" the opponent's creatures the "vulnerability" property, which allows Akkenians to inflict more wounds when attacking.

Archaalites (element of the swamp). These comrades are masters of poisoning. They have little health, the blows are very weak, but they have the ability to poison and inflict additional damage on poisoned creatures. In addition, when a poisoned creature untaps, it loses health equal to the poison level. Thus, archaalites simply try not to die before the opponent dies from poisoning. They also know how to throw, use the Arhaal shield ( are you poisoned? Then I have protection against your non-magical attacks!), and some creatures also know how to heal if a poisoned creature dies. One of my favorite elements.

Linungi (mountain element). Very interesting guys who own magic. The main mechanics of this element are meditation (allows you to use chips from other cards), spells, discharges, and accumulate chips. For discarding tokens, a creature can do something super-duper cool. For example, deal 4 damage to all cards in the selected vertical row. It's powerful, trust me. They have protection from ranged attacks and armor. Dedicated to magic lovers.

Guardians of the forest (forest element). Secretive warriors of the forest, who, in addition to excellent possession of shooting skills, can get extra lives. And if you don’t pay attention to some especially well-regenerating creatures, then out of 4 initial lives, they can easily have 15 extra lives.

Slua (dark element). The main feature of the darkness cards in this set is lifesteal. Extremely dangerous creatures, because when they strike, they are healed for the same number of lives. In addition, the Atalle card also knows how to fly. Difficult opponents.

Draconids (fire element). Completely new element for me. Such an interesting element turned out. They know how to throw, shoot, they can be strong dragons, they burn both strangers and their own, they have the skills to jump over cells, and they also have the scale property - they receive damage only from simple blows while they have 5 or more wounds.

I don't want to focus too much on neutrals. Unless the Priest of Cthulhu card smiled (once again they remembered Lovecraft).

I was very pleased with the presence of fields. Good, cardboard, with lovely art. Of course, you can’t really bring them with you to the club, but if you take the game for home gatherings, then they are very relevant.

There are only 2 cubes, and you don’t need more. Each player has a dice.

Tokens are offered in bulk on all topics - injuries, poisoning, vulnerabilities, negative effects, extra lives - everything is there.

    In general about the game

In this part of the review I will express my thoughts about the game. Berserk. You never know someone hears about it for the first time and wonders if it's worth buying at all.

Many compare any collectible card game to Magic for similarities. So here Berserk doesn't look like magic. There is no concept of mana, cards move around the field, all selected cards are available at once, there is no random set of cards every turn. Before us is practically a wargame, only instead of figures there are cards. We immediately have a powerful full-fledged army, which will become weaker with each move. The idea of the game is more like chess than Magic: the Gathering.

My opinion about Berserking it's always been like this: good game for beginners KKIshnikov. This is when you don’t really feel sorry for the money spent, because you learn how to collect decks, and the boosters in the game are inexpensive, and the tournament support is excellent, and if you suddenly get bored, then there is always the opportunity to switch to Magic. Honestly, I never wanted to put newbies on expensive games right away.

In the clubs I have always seen a lot of children who actively play Burs. Moreover, they only have decks, at best, rares and proms from free Friday beginner tournaments. And they are cool, they play with pleasure. Older players are looking for ultras in boosters, they even buy whole displays for this. But the fact remains that in Berserking a deck without super rare cards can beat an expensive deck.

Players often swear at this, that the cube sometimes starts to be very harmful and fills up the whole game. And the seemingly weak enemy army now and then inflicts strong blows.

Another one weak side games - from your entire deck, only 15 cards will play a maximum. And who knows what kind of cards it will be. Maybe the ones you're counting on, or maybe the cheap junk that you plugged the gaps in the deck with. On the other hand, other CCIs also have the notion starting hand and the subsequent addition of cards each turn. There, too, the cards that you were hoping for may not come at all. Those. in Berserking your version of random. Some people like it, some don't.

Another ambiguous option is that all the cards are open. There is no surprise out of hand. When you play with a hidden hand, then the opponent does not suspect what you are sitting with now - with strong cards or nonsense.

Berserk in this regard does not offer any surprises. Just like in chess, which I constantly think about today. Everyone clearly knows how the rook moves, the only question is which way it will go. I know for sure that that card over the turn makes a shot at 2, the only question is who will get shot.

Now similar games many appeared - SummonerWars, MageWars, for example. There are also fields and their own army, which is laid out on the field, moves along it and inflicts damage on the opponent.

It is very important to try to study the properties of the cards in the deck in advance. Otherwise, the first games have the opportunity to be boring and tedious.

“- I shoot this creature at yours.

    — Oh no, brother, he has protection from a shot.

    - Then in that one.

    And he has protection too.

    - And who can I?

“Here in this one, but he will have a defensive reaction, and he will return a shot.

    - Hm…»

Although there is nothing to worry about, since all card games require the study of cards. AT Berserking sea of special terms, so the first time the rulebook will be very popular with you. What is a blessing? Armor? Vampirism? Shot? Anger? Ranged attack with no range? Soulcatcher? And so on. Be ready.

    35 pages

And the glossary starts from the 15th

For me, this is a relaxing game, the opportunity to think about who to hit, and to leave the cubes with pleasure.

    About the new release

Either last year, or the year before, the publishing house hobby world wanted to run B abroad, but in the form of an LCD, not a KKI. And then they added that this version of the game will be intended only for foreigners, and we will still have the good old collectible format. And I got upset.

Managed to pick up extra lives

Well, I don’t like KKI, I’m tired of it. Racing with legality, searching for the right cards, opening dozens or even hundreds of boosters ... no, I definitely don’t want to. I would love to play a free format game where everything is legal and new standard sets come out periodically.

What about that very English version B so still nothing is known. But at the end of last year, a special gift set was released, which I am talking about today.

Previously, all sorts of dueling sets for two players have already been released. There you could find tokens, rules and 2 decks of different elements. In the gift set, we get 6 elements at once, which cannot but rejoice.

To be honest, the set Elemental Storm pleased me. Everything a beginner needs is in this box. Even if you doubt what elements to play, then Elemental Storm corrects this misunderstanding and allows you to replay all the elements.

This set can be played safely at home with family or friends. Only here with deck building, probably, it will not work out completely. Because it takes time. I can’t imagine such a situation when friends who are unfamiliar with the game come to me, I give them a box of cards and say - you choose something for the deck there ... Most likely I myself will have to collect something for them or just play with decks with one element.

It’s even easier when each player has such a set - then you don’t have to argue who will take good card. Yes, and it will be possible to play a mirror - like a swamp on a swamp.

I looked at the draconians with pleasure, played with vampires that I had not played before (demons and soul-catchers with reapers are closer to me). Once again I was convinced that I like to play with a swamp =)

In general, I went a wave of nostalgia. For some, this set will be the first step in understanding the world of Laar, tournaments, purchases of boosters, etc. will follow. And this set is enough for me to sometimes play it with my friends.

I still hope that such sets will still be released, and maybe the KKI format will move into something else, more interesting to me. Although I recently talked with my acquaintance, the head of the board games club, and he said the following: “ If they (Hobby World) change the format, they will bury the game, definitely". So who cares.

And I love this set. For those who want to get acquainted with the game - the best option. The cost of the game is 1140 Russian rubles which is inexpensive.
